Absent of launch control the 400 Nissan HP's will take the Audi in that spec. The Audi launches at 4000 rpm. It's not possible to catch it. Clearly on a roll (when the trans cooperates) it is a quicker car. Agree the old 7AT slushbox is a less capable machine comparatively.
The S3 is so underrated.....I'm Stage 1 with an intake and it's really, really close to 400HP crank. On a side note, I just drove an a V8T S6 and my stage 1 S3 is faster
Its not underrated. Its awd, has launch control and a 7speed dsg. My 2010 mustang with 300hp and a 5speed trapped 106mph and did 13.4 . If i had awd , 150lbs less weight and a 7speed auto i would definitely be in the 12s with just 300hp.
My buddy has an S3 and has never beat me. I ran 12.747 stock. Brake boosting and auto mode stock slows it down several tenths. Auto will shift at 6500 manually timed right you can hit shifts at 7k. Also stock tune kills power if you brake boost for more than 2 seconds. There is timing and technique to getting the most out of it. S3 still a nice car.We both have fun with our rides. We just raced the other night both with some bolt on and 93 tune. He ran 12.4 I ran 11.8 he disappeared quickly in the video
Nice races! wasn't sure what to expect and got some varied results. That s3 sounds interesting...idk alot about audis though. Good to see the return of the Q!
It is not the superior engineering that won this race, it was the inferior drivers in the Q50. Stock for stock, these cars are very close. Just shows that when you know how to drive your car properly, you can maximize every bit of its performance. Hats off to the S3 owner. Great car and great driver.
Soooooo, a single turbo inline 4 with a better transmission beat a twin turbo V6 with more HP and torque...... Still sounds like better engineering. I've owned both cars as well.

Yeah I've been wanting to see that race for a while they both have identical HP and torque numbers from a 2.0T engine. I think the Audi would be a hair faster because of the AWD launch, and DSG gearbox, though (assuming both vehicles are automatic).
I've raced a 2018 2.0t sport Accord 6mt against my 2021 Audi A5 40tfsi (190hp, 230lb ft tq) and my Audi won easily every time. The 45tfsi A4 will definitely win. The quattro just puts the power to the ground so much better.
@@xfiringsquadx The issue with the 2.0T Accord with a manual transmission is that it is very difficult to get good times with, sometimes they can run slow 14.5 second 1/4 miles because of its difficulty to put the power down. The 10 speed auto in the Accord is the real benchmark of what the Accord can do, it always puts down consistent times, and no where near as hard to launch as the manual. So I think both cars with their auto transmissions: Accord with 10 speed and Audi A4 with 7 speed dual clutch would be the proper match up. On paper they are pretty close in times, but the Audi gets the initial track advantage on launch due to AWD, and also its faster shifting transmission, the downsides are more weight and drive train loss at higher speeds. So either way it would be a fantastic race either way you look at it.
@@LousWRX True and good points. The 10 speed would definitely put up a better fight. Roll race would be interesting for sure. From a dig, I'm pretty sure the Audi would still take it though. Who the hell is infinity ?? That gearbox in the infinity is shocking slow , but saying that the dsg is one of the best double clutch gearboxes out there plus the proven 888 engine
The Infiniti should've pulled top end... strange. A stock S3 is a full 6-8mph slower in the 1/4 than the Infiniti according to car and driver. Both cars are cool but this didn't make sense. Great video though!
It probably would help if you compared apples to apples. The S3 is very likely modified (very easy to do on a turbo car). The S3 driver says he ran a 12.2 while a stock S3 will run high 12’s/low 13’s. Something isn’t smelling right here…
I have a redsport 400 I raced a s3 with downpipe and tune while I was stock and kept up with it right on its rear end. Stock to stock redsport is blowing that s3 away, S3 is definitely not stock
you read people mind :) thanks. if you can test bmw 230i 2022 it would be great because this car beats even camaro and mustang and q60. its actually supra 2.0 same engine same chassi
It would get dragged like a dog. The VR30 needs a tune, intercooler, and downpipes to be able to run what it’s capable of. They’re very fast when modded properly.
Exactly. Those numbers are very close to stock RS400 number 4.4-4.5. So this being a "stock car" and pulling on the RS like that, clearly shows what this was. A modified S3 vs a stock RS. Would love to see a true stock vs stock race.
91 octane I guess? Those numbers seem low for stage 1 even on 91 for some reason. On unitronic stage1+ here (using 93 octane) and hitting 3.65 0-60 Edit: you know what, I should have asked what year to see if it has the 6 or 7 speed.
@@thekingandi1705 Huh, close to an rs3 ? The RS3 is rated 3.5-3.7 for 0-60. A Stage 2 s3 would be close to an rs3 in terms of hp but would also need extra "parts" with that tune, dp and intercooler and should do a fuel pump. After you do all that you are still not an RS3 though lol.

I have a stage 2 mkv gti which is enough to pull on an s3 (I raced one when it was stock) then raced q50 base 2020 and lost by abt a car and a 1/2 not even a red sport.
Good match up but audi's are money pits after 100k miles.. I rather have reliability than speed at the end of the day!! Sold my BMW and Mercedes...I only drive Lexus now and it has saved me so much money on repairs
I'm wondering if Sam knows how turbocharged cars with modified exhaust applications work. 🤔 Stop calling it stock. If you saw the last video you'll know the Audi had been tuned as well. Give it straight up or race the cars with similar modifications.
Audis stock exhausts flow well enough that aftermarket’s are just for sound usually, not performance gain. You need a tune to get more power out of an aftermarket exhaust, and just because the Audi has an exhaust doesn’t mean it’s tuned.
@@BrownSofaGamer They delineated that it was tuned in the previous video. Also, turbos respond differently to simple modifications especially ones that are connected to the exhaust manifold directly.
@@c.j.coates974 He said it has a piggy back tune which has multiple maps and be mapped back to stock. Piggyback maps are also inconsistent compared to regular tunes, so even if he did have a different map, it would’ve varied the results more. And I just told you, on the stock tune on an Audi an aftermarket exhaust is gonna ad maybe 15hp if you’re really luck, which is nothing.
Audis are computers on wheels. Exhaust modifications are negligible as the ECU will make only exactly the power it’s programmed to make. You’re lucky to even get 8HP more with an exhaust.
@@MidnightAspec So far in the Titan and the Frontier it seems to perform worse, not any faster even slower mpg slight better, I think it need better programming.
Even a basic A3 2.0T Quattro with a stage 1 tune would take that Q50. I already found that out from experience….. if the Q50 was modded it would be very even.
The VR30 was never the weak point. It is the transmission. The Z by default should already proof to be relatively faster being that its lighter and will have a ZF 9 speed.
I own an infiniti and No it’s better to have the infiniti in manual mode you just missed the shift, in manual mode it shifts so hard that you can even feel a sudden hit in your back it’s like it jumps forward
So the audi just launches harder, nothing a little aftermarket boost controller and transmission tune can't solve. Don't even need to add power, just need it to let me launch with boost at a higher rpm
He really doesn't know how to shift an Infiniti, he's redline it which bogs it down, have to shift before redline as the transmission setup is made to carryover into the next gear. Shift at redline then less room on the bottom end of the next gear which Infiniti is a beast at. Should redo the race with someone who knows how to drive Infiniti's.

The Q50 RS clocks 0 to 60 and 1/4 mile times faster than the S3 so either there's a big the driver component delta and / or the S3 isn't stock and / or something's wrong with the Q60.
Not sure where you think you’ve seen that, but, Car and Driver says differently:

Hi sam, make a video with audi a4 252hp vs honda accord 2.0 touring
Yeah I've been wanting to see that race for a while they both have identical HP and torque numbers from a 2.0T engine. I think the Audi would be a hair faster because of the AWD launch, and DSG gearbox, though (assuming both vehicles are automatic).
@@LousWRX a better race would be GLI not Audi which they already did
I've raced a 2018 2.0t sport Accord 6mt against my 2021 Audi A5 40tfsi (190hp, 230lb ft tq) and my Audi won easily every time.
I'm wondering if Sam knows how turbocharged cars with modified exhaust applications work. 🤔 Stop calling it stock. If you saw the last video you'll know the Audi had been tuned as well. Give it straight up or race the cars with similar modifications.
Yes sir
The Q50’s 7AT tranny is its weakest point.
That’s the problem
