    Very interested to see if there will be a soft opening available next week Monday when we’re there. Know if they will be? We’ve seen the staircase many times only to wonder what mysteries lay beyond! Glad this will be our first experience for a DVC lounge as it sounds like the experience can only go up from there!!! 😅

      Enjoy! It should be open during your visit, but just keep an eye on the hours. I think it's so cool up here! Especially 'cause I have memories of it before it was a lounge, when I was a kid. Very cool space, not as cool as it was, but I do love looking up through the pyramid.

    The Imagination Pavilion is one degree of separation from The Wonders Of Life Pavilion. The amount of concern and care that Disney has for that space makes it feel like it’s nearly abandoned. It gotten to the point that the only part of Epcot worth visiting is World Showcase.

      @@2foolishmortals Arguably two of the best Pavillions in their original opening forms. I vividly remember exploring Image Works for the first time back in 1987, after experiencing the original Journey into Imagination. Walking through the Rainbow Corridor, playing with the big pin tables , seeing my shadow in the Digital Wall room. Seeing the weird but wonderful Captain EO movie. The Imagination Pavilion offered such a special and unique experience. Now it is skippable and may as well be shuttered like Wonders of Life, another tragic loss.

    I have been up there before and it looked exactly like it did in September 2023 when we went up there to check on some changes on the DVC app and Disney Web site that needed to be working together on our phones and were not.
    The person helping us was very professional and knew her stuff and resolved the configuration workings so we could see group activities on both apps. The free drinks were nice. Light snacks were offered as well.

    225000 DVC members if 40-50% pay that $99 BS upgrade that would be around 10 million dollars a year extra. Disney is having the DVC members pay for the cokes, snacks and lounge “upgrades” themselves 😂 get some more of that DVC magic

    Went to the lounge in Jan/Feb. It was nice to take a break, get a free drink and snack, but there was certainly nothing spectacular about the space. It basically looks like all of the work they did was behind the scenes infrastructure work. It certainly doesn't look like they really did anything to make it any nicer. Will we try and stop by again on our trip in a little over a week, probably... but it clearly it won't be a big deal if we miss out. I'll be curious to see the Disneyland Resort offerings when we head there in May.

    • @2foolishmortals
      @2foolishmortals  2 месяца назад +1

      Do you mean Restaurant Marrekesh? 🤔 In that case, I did consider it while I was sitting there and IMO there are 2 notable differences. The first is the layout of the location. The photo spot here isn't really out of the way enough that it wouldn't impeded traffic [for a lack of a better word] once it was set up as a meet and greet. If they did it in the same was as the AP Lounge, it would most likely block the route to the refreshments as well as potentially blocking/eliminating the seating area tucked away off to the left. The AP Lounge Meet & Greet area was situated in a slightly different way that was out of the way and didn't really impeded traffic. The second thing though, is that the Meet & Greet is a paid extra only available to some guests unlike at the AP Lounge. . . so that creates some unique challenges that have me thinking about the logistics of this whole thing. . . . .
      So ya. Those are my current thoughts. I'll fill you in if any more pop into my head. 😆

    Disney isn’t exactly doing much to keep people from buying resale

    • @2foolishmortals
      @2foolishmortals  2 месяца назад +1

      Seriously! It's so interesting, 'cause if you go back to some of my videos that I've done over the past year or so about resale, the main reason to NOT buy resale is the perks & benefits. Not that any one perk is worth buying direct on its own, but all together it raises the question of what kind of experience you want out of DVC. Now. . . . it seems even buying direct isn't enough so why NOT buy resale? Very interesting moment, that's for sure.

    Ugh, that was so unfortunate. New reserved seating, new elevator (obviously required, not even "elected" as an enhancement), the same carpet if I'm not mistaken, new banners and Figment sketches. The latter, very cute, but everything else was nothing but a remove & replace. Now - if it turns out that the upcharge character greetings are staged in a formerly closed area that's soon to reopen with new theming (read: a neon rainbow?), that might be worth checking out.

    I’m not a DVC member, but this lounge would certainly not inspire me to join. The only thing i liked about it is the Figment artwork on the walls. I admire people who can easily draw. Regarding the potential character greetings for people spending an extra $99 a year (which seems unbelievably inexpensive), it absolutely would upset children who see it but are barred from it. It reinforces the idea that everything good must be paid for with cash money. This whole area looks cheap, with the potential for severe overcrowding, and no cool features. Where is the pretty fountain? Where is the CHOCOLATE fountain? Where is the cookie-decorating bar with different colored icings and sprinkles? Where is the soft ice cream machine? Aren’t there collection booklets for stickers or stamps like there are at the festivals? I’m sure I’m not the only one with these ideas. I’m just thinking that Disney is being cheap with its DVC members.

    • @2foolishmortals
      @2foolishmortals  2 месяца назад +1

      I don't think there are many people out there who are motivated to buy DVC for lounge access alone. . . it's more of a little bonus. A nice bonus, but it's at the bottom of the list of reasons to buy direct from DVC versus resale.
      In the past, there was a lot more available to Members than there is today. Lots of fun things that were available to everyone no matter when during the year you visited. That got limited and now, with that $99 up-charge, it's even MORE limited. They absolutely COULD do things, they just don't anymore. . . and IMO it's sad and not really a motivator to buy more DVC [or encourage others to buy] when we've lost so many perks and we're only 22 years into our 50 year contract. 🤷‍♀️

    At one time, Disney cared a great deal about every new thing they brought to a park. They wanted all Castmenbers to take pride in their innovation, artistry, and theming. Bob Iger lost this, if he ever had it. I dont know the role that Josh D'Amaro is playing in these new efforts. I will be so happy when Bob Iger retires. It can not happen soon enough. Iger has no vision and his injection of political statements into everything has simply alienated scores of Disney fans. Disney needs new leadership blood, STAT!

Disney is really batting a 1000 lately as far as misses go.🤦‍♀️ And nothing for the kids of DVC members to do up there. It is SUCH a missed opportunity, isn't it!? I was thinking that the might open it up a little bit, maybe have a special door or something that hinted at the Membership Magic Beyond option. Something that would happen people like me thinking "gawd damnit now I'm gonna have to spend the $99 to see what's behind there". . . . nope.
      All the have for the kids is a TV with cartoons and an interactive table, which is off in a corner so you'd have to be assigned a seat next to it in order to supervise the kids, which is a shame.
