M8 x 1.25 bolts to remove drums. Great video. I recommend lubricating the bumps on backing plate where shoes pivot as they can bind up if not lubed. 👏

Very good video, thanks very much. I've been hunting for nearly an hour to find out which way the fork on each side of the adjuster goes in.
You are the only one I've found who actually mentioned the correct way for each fork. Great stuff.

I was also wondering the same thing. My little spring loaded arm for the auto adjuster kept pushing away from the ratchet nut and not adjusting until I got the fork the correct way. Great video.

Quite good video. I’ve seen a couple of movies before this one and they were crap, the blokes were explaining things very briefly. You did it very well, step by step, showed what goes where, in right order. I’ll do mine soon. Thanks.

One of the better Yaris rear brakes tutorial. Short and to the point. I don't agree with getting cheap brake pads, but the video is spot on. Thanks

I did it today, no problems, thanks for the video! My understanding is that the brakes are self adjusting, so I set the adjust to the shortest length and let er rip!

The spring hardware should be replaced every time shoes are replaced because they lose tension over time. Also a good idea to replace the adjuster apparatus too, especially if you live in the salt-belt. Might add another $40 to the job, but if you’re going to spend time doing the job, do it right the first time. I usually go as far as replacing the brake cylinders too if vehicle has over 150k miles. Need to use anti-seize grease on the backing plate where the shoes touch; don’t get grease on the actual shoe material that comes in contact with the drum. Bleed the brakes if you change the wheel cylinders.

@@TheCrazyRomanian They do have a self adjuster. You put the car in reverse, hit the brakes hard and it self adjusts. Using the parking also causes it to self adjust.
