What I remember about playing Battlefield 2042's beta is... is how broken it was... Also if you watched my Vanguard video then you know I thought Battlefield 2042 was gonna MURDER Call of Duty this year like they did with Battlefield 1. But... I could never have prepared myself for what I witnessed...
Welp it murders something alright it murdered our expectations for a battlefield game I mean this beta makes bf4 at launch look sane and 2042s launch will be cancer I guarantee. Cod is just boring at this point what’s there to be hyped about anymore it seams like gaming is just dying out from a forced death
What does that mean? They happened to have them on their person and accidentally dropped them in there while going through your car? Sell them then idiot
I'm convinced EA was making a battlefield Battle-Royale game, and they decided to change it last minute and turn it into a mainline entry in the series.
Lmaoo never thought of it that way but now that you say it, I think that might have been the case lolol. Game is a mess and probably the worst beta I’ve ever played.
Feels like EA and DICE were real fuck jealous of Infinity Ward of how well MW2019 and Warzone did.MW2019 sold 58M copies and Warzone had 200m Downloads. We're seeing experiencing all of this right now
Imagine taking player feedback after releasing a broken, unplayable mess that even the core gameplay doesn't slightly resemble previous games, and responding to it with "Your expectations are brutally unrealistic"
At this point, I honestly belive that me and a few of my drinking buddies could make a better bf game... no experience in game design, but honesly at least it would feel like bf, well more than this anyway

EA offers more creative freedom to Dice because they make more money. Most of the controversy with Dice recently had been because of Dice Sweden, their LA branch kicks ass though
"The final product is more important than the launch project" - imagine if that logic were taken to any other industry. Restaurants. Movies. Automotive industry. Travel.
Sweet Jesus, I just got a picture in my head when you said "Automotive Industry" "Yeah, I know that hundreds of our cars have spun out and killed passengers, but come on, guys. We're still learning here. The final product is always more important than the launch product!" Of course, a bad video game by no means is equivalent to deadly defective car, but it does show how stupid that mindset can be.
Yeah I'm tried of the whole "got to buy this week's new shiny cause that's what everyone is talking about". What's worse is consumer habits is the major key to the garbage we see today. If people are going to buy garbage, companies aren't going to stop making garbage.

It's fucking hilarious how many people were defending this game when Act Man was exposing the bugs and glitches. Beta back then =/= Beta today. Nowadays a Beta is just early access.
rly? I think beta nowadays is just a mean to promote the game. I mean, how can they work on beta feedbacks in like a month or few weeks before the release date? Not to mention, it's hilarious to see how fanboys' expectation goes down the shitter when they think it's ok to release a broken game in day-1. I don't remember buying any NES or PS1 game that's broken at launch and the dev said "it's gonna fix soon, trust us!"
Most betas are demos or in all actually realy just server stress tests. A beta a month before launch is a demo. That is the product you are getting on launch unless they put out a day 1 patch that fixes the issues. Back4blood went gold during its "beta" which is hilarious. Beta is a buzzword anymore and doesn't really represent where the product actually is at in its development cycle. At least it isn't for these "triple A publishers"
No, a beta is not early access, it’s mostly today there to generate hype for the game before launch and it will be almost the exact same game at launch day.
The best thing about 2042 is that it got loads of people back playing BF1. Seriously did everyone with any idea how to make a Battlefield game leave after BF1 or something?
Saw an article on the BF2042 subreddit that over 60% of Battlefield 2042 designers joined after BF1. Over 20% joined during 2042’s development. Explains a lot. The OG DICE is gone.
Honestly if you compare the trailers of Battlefield 2042 with this game its shaping up to be the Anthem 2.And Even on RTX 3090 Trailer it can barely run at 30 FPS . Don't know what's gonna happen to this on November 19. Edit: It's the worst Battlefield in History according to Angry Joe himself

Good times when developers didn't had the option to update the game later. Of course it had its cons, but at least most studios did their best to release the game as good as possible. Even if the game was bad for any reason, it was finished. Nowadays every release is a gamble moment for the customers. Fun fact : tf2 map creators have made ladders and have made well working functions for them in a 15 year old game, BF2024 is brand new and the ladders barely work with a whole team of developers
37:03 No joke, when he pointed out that Orbital was a medium-sized map, a loud police siren rang right outside my house. I can’t think of any other warning sign better than that.
See, my issue with all this is the basic mistakes being forgiven. We are actually reaching the point where basic features working is like a gift from the gods.
I agree. The standards for a lot of people are rock bottom for games these days. It doesn't even have to work properly, just provide some meme entertainment for a bit and that's good enough for $80 apparently. It makes it easy for me to pass, even on my old favorite franchises, because the quality just isn't there. Is it just an insatiable need for "new" content or are people genuinely happy to pay for broken incomplete games that strip out features from previous iterations..? I honestly don't know.
Part of it I think is that PC didn't have a looot of these bugs. Most of our bugs were UI and loadout selection based. I imagine a lot of the people saying that it really isn't that bad, played PC. I was one of those till I saw the videos of consoles. PC it was pretty nice honestly. Console is a nightmare. I feel bad for the console people.
Y’all remember when a beta come out around June/July and if there was issues, they would have them fixed by November and the game was fun and playable at launch. Good ole days
It really is. Downright pathetic. But on launch day there's gonna be a bunch of streamers playing it with their shocked, wide-eyed, open-mouthed faces on the thumbnails of their videos acting like they're having the time of their lives. And it'll still be in raggedy shape.
I love that we actually have someone criticizing the game and not “welp, I hate it but I’m a fanboy so it’s a good game”. It’s honestly sad and disappointing seeing the communities standards on video games has dramatically lowered.
I don’t think it’s expectation here. Dice said that the build of this beta was months old and that the issues seen there is fixed. I still am confident that the issues are indeed fixed.
That's actually most of the criticism I've seen and they still just say "It's just a beta. It's a 3 month old build" and they'll go blow $60 on it and then complain why it is glitchy. Cyberpunk 2077 all over again

I had a friend in high school who wanted to become a game developer and started to make a horror game alongside her boyfriend. It was pretty basic and in her own words, generic: a haunted mansion with a bunch a different ghosts in it. They were making the game on weekends; sometimes I helped with some parts of the script; she used the Unreal Engine in the most basic way possible. Unfortunately, I've moved on and lost contact with the two, but let me tell you: three highschoolers with minimal knowledge on game making could make a much better PRE-ALPHA than an open beta to a multi-million videogame.
the single, shit assassination animation is 100% because they're probably going to add other animations as cosmetics same for why specialists of both teams look the same, they'll probably sell skins for them and won't bother making two versions of the same skin for the two different teams

Funny how Infinite Warfare,COD WW2,MW,BOCW and Vanguard has 1st person takedowns in Campaign but MW2019,BOCW, Vanguard have 3rd person takedown in MP.That shows what Battlefield is going towards to be a MW clone. Did anyone expect this after BF5?
This is actually really sad. After BF5, Battlefield needs a comeback to gain back it's notoriety. If 2042 fails, then I can see EA canning the IP. They've done it with other big ones.
When both the publishers and developers shamelessly insult the very fanbase playing their games as they did with the disastrous reveal of BFV, we should honestly expect nothing less than a poor product on their end.
I enjoyed bf5 and what it had to offer but it showed me how a bad first impression can sometimes screw over something in the long run. I just hope with the launch of 2042, they can hopefully polish it up more. But with some of the scummy practices that some companies do today, it might be a far fetched wish. Just my opinion

@@bananasaur5209 you don’t have to accept the unfinished thesis. Just like you don’t have to play 2042. I’m simply choosing to be a bit understanding if there are bugs that come with this game. I want 2042 to be good so bad.. but I’ve been playing bf4 more lately and I hate to say it but it’s is much more fun. The state bf4 is currently in is near perfection for an FPS.
I would argue to my grave that BF4 was and still is one of the best FPS shooters ever. Countless weapons to use that even people like me with hundreds of hours haven’t used, well aged maps with destruction that not only looks cool, but actually shapes the game. Maps like Flood Zone for example, you can destroy the dam and it floods the bottom of the map with water, forcing you to use your secondary and be at a disadvantage. Or all the super fun gadgets like the suav, where you can fly a remote plane and with good aim, roadkill people from a safe spot, or all the types of fun explosives from grenade launchers, to rockets, or jeep stuff. It’s a shame that it will probably never be mentioned by EA again because China is in the game, and now that they are making a mobile game, they will do anything to appeal to them.
i dont agree with you, most servers (the few that are filled with people) consist of people who have been playing the game for years so if you start now you're gonna get seal-clubbed.

Something interesting is battlefield 1 and call of duty came out the same weekend as Titanfall 2 and basically stole all its sales it's kinda sad because the game was really good
They also practically removed the entire destruction mechanic that's been in the series since the very first game and the building system that was actually really cool and unique that was generally well received

And i think that was the worst mistske from our part
Well yeah because with every new game, the standards are higher, more ceilings need to be broken, the modern limits are pushed, more innovation and creativity is required so naturally, these things will come with consequences.
Some of these games will have bugs… as long as they are willing to fix it and polish it even more, I’m willing to be patient.

I just wish the projectiles weren't so slow
BF4 has been released in 2013, of course it's better and in top shape. Let's not forget BF4 was a disaster on release and had a whole special team focusing on fixing it.

For real this game literally has no destruction compared to BC2.
That game had no boundaries you can legit blow up the objective if you wanted and the movement also fit the pace of the game perfectly, also the game wasn't a buggy mess on launch.
And they also said that early versions of BF3 were tested with up to 128 players, and feedback was that it wasn’t very fun. 10 years later and it seems to still be true: as an XB1 player I had less issues with the map design or finding enemies than people on the 128 player version of the map had.
