TELL ME LIES TELL ME SWEET LITTLE LIES Goddamn, this really was a massive disappointment. Probably needed an extra 2 years in the oven to become what CDPR was trying to sell us. @@bonb0n593 Bruh they still blatantly lied to us tho. That doesn't make them innocent at all. Besides, they had 8 long years to develop it which they spent doing God knows what.
@@SCA84 lying to people is being forced to release the unfinished game and then being forced to apologise for giving people what they want? Uh huh sure
@@bonb0n593 "Giving people what they want" since when did people want an unfinished game? They intentionally hid any real gameplay from the consumers by preventing reviewers from showing their own gameplay to sugarcoat the fact that the game is dogshit and unplayable.
And because CD Project Red thought they could use the reputation earned from the witcher 3 to hype people up, but just killed off any reputation they had earned from that game.
I think you really hit the nail on the head when you pointed out how the first part of the game up until the point when Jackie dies... was fantastic. I think it really built up my anticipation to go out and explore the open world, but it was immediately after that part of the game that I realized that I cant even care about what I'm doing if I try to.
In hindsight, the intro made zero sense. We got to know plots, groups, characters and so on that had nothing to do with the story later on. Its like CDPR had a vision in mind in the beginning, after ten percent was done realized, that it wasnt doable, and developed something entirely different afterwards.

It definitely makes ads more natural & tolerable plus his personal ad breaks are equally well placed. They're not half way through a video when your really invested, They're just after the intro & before you dive deep into the video
keanu deserves no hate honestly, i always believe that a bad thing shouldn't hurt everyone associated with it. if coca cola came out saying they used elves as slave labor, i wouldn't hate the logo designer, the factory worker, or the janitor. Hate is like credit, give it where it's due and everything else leave it. I'm so proud of people for not hating keanu cuz he's awesome and has a track record to be emulated. i hope he gets more roles in video games, cheers!
He’s famus as a movie actor anyway and he’s only a character in the game its not like he’s the head of cdpr or smth. And yeah this game being suck will bring no lose to him so its a definite win situation for him.
The game's failures simultaneously have nothing to do with him and have a _lot_ to do with him. You can't get mad at Keanu for what went wrong, but a lot of what went wrong was because of decisions related to his hiring. I strongly doubt he personally asked CDPR to remake the whole game in two years.
37:51 in the story we learn he hates Arasaka because they took his girlfriend from him. They killed her and made her an AI. Johnny bombed the building and got his girlfriend’s AI out of their system. That’s why Johnny didn’t just leave with Rogue when he started the bomb timer. He had one last thing he had to do. Get his girlfriend’s AI out of there.
Yeah I think his point of noone having clear motivations is total bullshit, human life is valued so little that the only thing people can really do to feel like they're worth something is to become a legend, even if you're a high paid arasaka executive they don't give jackshit if you live or die as shown in the corpo intro. Also V doesn't need to have motivation like jackie being on life support because he already has motivation, HE.DOES.NOT.WANT.TO.DIE. I can't believe the act man has overlooked these extreamly clear points the game is making.
He didn't know that she was an AI at the time, he didn't even know about Soulkiller at the time. In fact, he disconnected her from the terminal before she could use Soulkiller to reinsert herself back into her still-living body, thus killing her because of his ignorance. Johnny not being interested or giving Alt credit over her netrunning abilities and career was a flaw called out during one of his flashbacks.

How the hell basically a wanted feature was added in last. The GTA or Red dead series have extremely good wanted level because the devs take time to make them feel like you are being wanted and polices are chasing you. While in Cyberpunk it feel like you gonna die no matter what, the police just spawn at your location at least add a teleportation effects if you want to do that.
@@phuct4980 Gta 5 has the best wanted system out of them all. Red dead is good but it's still very unrealistic. The cops know where you are at all times, and know who you are no matter what you wear. I get out of the red circle and hide in a cave and they still find me. Same with the bounty hunters
@@thetoyodacar2264 yup the point i trying to convey is the wanted level need to be developed first because it goes hand in hand with what your characters do.
I argued with a cdpr fanboy about this. He said the cops did that because they used futurious teleportating technology so it is justified . Laughed my ass off
One of the devs of Hollow Knight said something very wise once. I don't know the exact sentence he said but this is an approximation: "We use the budget we have to build a game that can be playable, and if we still have time and budget we will add more." But CD Projekt Red did the very opposite.
8 years to make the game, 4 years to make the world 3 years to write the story 1 year and 6 months to write the characters 5 months of straight nothing 1 month to write the code
One thing that has always bugged me about this game is the way people talk. The words they miss out. Like, they don't say "I'll put this on the table" They'll say "Put this on the table" and somehow V is capable of knowing that they're not telling him to do it for them.
Interestingly, that whole talk on a first person only perspective was done in Republic commando (a highly reviewable game might I add). We only know boss is orange themed because of the cover art, open screen, and arms. The whole game is seen through the helmet, except for as a baby, teen, early training, and getting the helmet. And I think it really really works
Difference is Republic Commando is a genuinely good game with great gunplay actually good story and an amazing IP Cyberpunk is a game that just made video game industry as a whole so much worse by breaking all of their promises, buggy beyond any standards and made those """apology""" posts standard

9:40 I felt like coming back to this after the recent resurgence of cyberpunk. Honestly the number of gamers that have a tiny attention span has increased over the years and all it took was one Anime. The game is less buggy now but a lot of the features they promised still don't exist and yet we already have plans for DLC and people are excited. Why? The game now runs but it's still shallow. I can still do way more in GTA V and don't even get me started on RDR 2 activities. If you're reading this comment and think otherwise watch this entire video all over again to refresh your memories of the years of lies we got. Then comment. Fixing a buggy game is a plus but common guys.
nah. i agree the game isn't perfect, there's a lot missing still that i wish was there but i'm able to appreciate the writing and combat a lot more now. also maybe this is just a me thing, but unless it directly gave me an advantage or actually focused more in tandem on the core gameplay, most of those other activities are really pointless if you ask me. a quick distraction. at least the shooting range in gta upped your stats relating to it and fishing and hunting in rdr2 gave you food for either yourself or the camp. what did tennis, drinking, golfing, or smoking even impact in the long run in gta? nothing really. it's a distraction but that's it. and I think most people ended up ignoring that.
@@catb0mb The Drinking and smoking I agree were side distractions, but activities like Tennis and golfing are actually good side activities. There are even full fledged sports games made by 2k so I wouldn't consider these activities as just a distraction. GTA also had a neat Theater you could go to and I felt like with the whole Brain dance was a missed opportunity for VR headsets. They could have used that in a way like allowing us to have a Theater mode to give the illusion of a real world Brain dance. Hunting in RDR 2 was not just for the camp but also tied to an upgrade System for your pouch, carry weight etc. It also provided an enjoyable challenge if you focused on getting a perfect pelt from every animal because you had to progress through the story and unlock specific weapons before you could hunt for a perfect pelt for some animals. The strangers and freaks missions were also a neat side activity because they were mostly doing random things rather than just point and shoot. Random encounters in RDR 2 were also my favorite, it could lead to treasure hunting, helping civilians or just watching them get mauled by wild animals. Bounty hunting in each state was also nice especially bringing them in alive or just plane stealing another NPCs bounty or trying to protect your own bounty from other npc's. I also like how in GTA you were not just limited to cars and bikes to get around the map. You could steal aircrafts. I personally enjoyed just getting random planes or helicopters and skydiving to a destination.
@@Gowst99 but they still mean nothing on gameplay. it's irrelevant to everything else. and what do 2k sports games have anything to do with this? again i don't play gta to golf or play tennis. i do it to commit crimes. it feel unnecessary to commit precious developer time to something most people won't even bother with for the sake of "immersion". when I played gta v back in like 2016 for the first time, I never bothered with leisure activities. I just played the main story and side missions because those contained the gameplay the game was selling me on and what I was looking for. in rdr2 it has more impact and relevancy to gameplay, i'll give you that. but you can still beat the entire story without donating to the camp once or without even trying to upgrade your character, so it feels near unnecessary. if the game halted story progress if the camp was low on funds, it'd make more sense but it doesn't do that. i understand feeling miffed at the things cdpr lied about. some of it is cool and it sucks we'll never see it, such as the corrupt cop system. but a lot of it feels just unnecessary and goes down to the biggest problem 2077 has, that it tried to do too much in development rather then being focused on one thing. what would wallrunning add? basically none of the level design is built around it. what would side leisure activities add other than a distraction? hell I don't even think I've tried hooking up with a joytoy (the only real example of this in-game) once. because it's not what the game is selling me on. the game is selling me on THE GAME. not fucking a hooker. what would the metro system add? another way to travel? why bother when we have cars and the fast travel stations? what about daily npc routines? sure it would be cool but how many average players would even notice that? my point is that all of this stuff is just unnecessary fluff at the end of the day, save for a few genuinely cool ideas. it sucks that they lied, yes. but i think the game would've been even more unfocused if they actually tried to jam all this in. cyberpunk isn't perfect. it's still far from what I wanted it to be, which is an fps rpg on the same design level as new vegas. but as it is it's a fun open world fps with light rpg elements and REALLY good character writing (seirously, did act man even bother with panam's quests? or river ward? or even LISTEN to johnny's backstory? there's a lot to care for with those characters and i really felt invested in them.) and here's the last thing too. might sound like i'm overselling it, but the reason people aren't coming back is because of "just one anime." it's because that "one anime" proved to be a better introduction to the world then the actual game did, and it got so many people connected on an emotional level to the world that they want to explore more of it. it's not just a show, but a fucking amazing one. and even if you haven't played 2077 or are still burned by it I highly recommend watching it.
@@catb0mb Perhaps you're missing the point here. The point is CD Projekt Red over selled and lied what Cyberpunk would be. So other things other than just linier progression come into play and it becomes difficult not to compare it to other titles that advertise what features they offer. Games like GTA or RDR do not ignore other activities in their Gameplay videos because they want to show everything that is in the game and possible to do. The more features the higher the chance of capturing a bigger audience. If you're in it only for the linier progression, then more power to you. For others like me, we prefer to experience the full package as "advertised".What CD Projekt advertised would I guess be adequate to someone just looking to progress the story mission and ignore everything else. Which is what they should have advertised instead of baiting many people, who appreciate to have other things to do other than just getting from point A to point B and finish the story, into buying their game. If they just did that most people would have just been annoyed by the bugs not about lack of features or cut content. And i have watched the Anime. As for Cyberpunk, i keep updating it because I really hope it will get to a point were I can feel some for of satisfaction. The main quest will never be updated to have branching out comes as advertised, that's too much work for them. The only hope is in the DLC but I have a feeling it will also just be as linier without any consequences to who you keep alive or kill.

I think all the story needed was to make a simple story of V getting to the top in Night City; it's simple enough in order to give players many choices and actually start at a different points through their life paths. The current Black Mirror plotline is definitely a doozy, too complex/artsy-fartsy, and heavily narrow down choices. I know how bad the story is when they tried so hard to sell Johnny as the hero, and how siding with Arasaka would be the worst ending right after literally killing yourself that CDPR just tries so hard to show you which choices are "Right" and "Wrong" from their narrative instead of yours.

I'm surprised more people don't know that tons of developers left CDPR after The Witcher 3, and most of them said the reason they left was because of incompetent management (poor communication, unreasonable crunch periods, all that fun stuff). That's not even getting into how Witcher 3 had its own miniature controversy over downgraded graphics and how buggy the game was at release. Think most people who idolized CDPR after Witcher 3 don't realize that it was only a great game through dogged determination from a poorly supported, overworked and under appreciated dev team that moved onto greener pastures after that game's release.
The maelstrom boys looked pretty intimidating so I would want to pick fights with them. Just to have cops spawn out of thin air and interrupt the fun. If they are so effective then how come they can just spawn like that

Never dealt with hackers or modders in GTA Online. Some clown 🤡 tried to boot me once and that didn't work. The main flack GTA gets is GTA Online because either people suck or they feel the need to buy shark cards. Either way, GTA V is way better than Cyberpunk. Ignoring the bugs, Cyberpunk still has horrible physics, boring gameplay especially at higher levels, a boring city with really nothing to do besides missions (In GTA V, there were tons of other activities you could do), a true lack of build diversity (GTA had no builds, just increase your stats. Cyberpunk has 2 builds (Tech and Hacking), everything else is just a supplement. This game is empty and for the most part, boring. Fixing the bugs won't help it.
I honestly don't get why they only used Jackie so sparingly in the game. He's easily the most compelling companion and character, he has this really rich hinted-at backstory and then they don't even explore it. The whole game feels like it sets up so much promise and then just throws it in a dumpster.
I hate the montage in the game, I liked Jackie, but we only did like 2 missions with him, if the montage was actual missions meeting his mom and we did like 6 missions with him when he died it would have been more emotional and a better instead I'm just like damn that sucks he died
I don't mind that he died. I mind that he died so quickly. It would have hurt a lot more if you had gone on through the game and closer to the end he dies-maybe on the last mission into Arasaka building. But, per the usual these days, they give you a little and take away everything.
Totally agree. If the whole game would have been just about Jackie and V becoming famous gangsters in Night City, it would have been more focused, interesting and people would have had something to care about.
THIS. Loved Jackie...and also loved Misty. Would have liked to have several (more) jobs with them in some way. Hell, loosing Jackie was SUCH a waste. >_
You’ve really got to revisit this game in its state today. I never played 1.0, fully waited until 2.0 and it’s easily one of my favorite games of all time now.
If this is one of your favorite games of all time I feel bad for you 😅. I had to return it in the 2hr window that game is fucking trash. Guns have 0 feeling the animation for executions are janky as fuck. Knocking someone out and throwing em in the cooler gets old immediately. Games stale as fuck when you compare it to destiny 2,doom, red dead 2 or any other game with a company who knows how to implement good gunplay.
Because of the state the game released in I nearly missed it out completely. I was very glad I tried it out later and at least in my opinion the game is a nine out of ten right now and would defenitely place in my top twenty. It is still behind witcher 3 but not this much removed. I am not a regular shooter player though and came more for the immersion, the story and the characters.
You say that CDPR "invented" slang like "choom" and "gonk" but litteraly these words were invented by Mike Pondsmith and his team when he created the table-top role-playing game Cyberpunk 2020.
I have the Cyberpunk 2020 books here. They took the professions (Netrunner, Nomad,...) and characters (Johnny Silverhand, Morgan Blackhand, ...) right from this tabletop.
It's staggering how many people are willing to overlook serious design flaws and a lack of meaningful content for this game because CDPR released a few patches and an anime. Meanwhile, you're still the only person in the whole city that can ride a motorcycle. That's how bad their traffic system is.
@@f-5e126 uhm... which one of you is the more shamefully comical idiot? Yyup Meman is totally right about the player being the only one capable of riding a bike. Despite the fact at least Jackie and Panam rode one during a SCRIPTED sequence, and Tyger Claws members have bikes parked, the still very basic traffic system cannot do jack shit with bikes and that's kinda hilarious and immersion breaking. So you either dum-dum or intentionally missed his point. And on the flip side, you can find stuff to bitch about anywhere and even still more than avarage amount in CP'77 to this day. But that does not take away from the fact that the game has, and HAD a soul from day-0, which is increasingly rare in the big leagues of the industry. I think it's the ragdolls of the game, when you run over people they look more like those tube men instead of real people. When did we start having good ragdolls in games? 2008 or something?
You said something that I didn't really hear anywhere else say, or even let soak in myself. Which was "Even a year more development wouldn't fix this game". Something dawned on me here.... Looking at the game in it's current state, we're looking at 4+ years to achieve the "promised" version of the game that was intended to be released. I think the higher ups even realized this. Releasing the game now and taking some heat, was the better option of having to actually do the work for another 4 years. They already sold the vision and tricked everyone into believing it was something it wasn't. They make 14 million either way..... Ship It.
Makes sense. My guess is that the development fatigue kicked in after working on this game for 7 years. Not to mention the crunches and forced overhaul in 2016. But still...a very stupid move from CDPR to overhype a non-functional game with 40 mins CGI 'gameplay' trailer. I hope they recover from this and smack the exec that pushes that garbage marketing move.
They are losing money from lawsuits and the price has been lowered because its value has dropped. And with all the refunds, this could tank the company
What really does it for me is like the literal non existent wanted system where police just appear behind you like gta 3 had a better police system. And shit like not being able to shoot car tires and cars not even driving around traffic obstructions or reacting when you pull a gun on them. And the terrible AI in general. I tried to be optimistic but I think I'll probably never buy this game even tho I was super hyped for it.

@Arachnotron At. The. Earliest. Sadly, I don't, at this point, expect them to pull a Hello Games. If they do, and *add* all the parts they promised but didn't deliver, then, when the *promised* game is done, we will know how much longer they should have waited. And 2 years, as you say, the minimum. Four years (see NMS) is more like it.
Reading the comments in their most recent dlc trailer, I felt like I’m crazy and was playing a completely different game. It’s full of “this game has one of the best open worlds” “lore is amazing” “story is so good”. I played it the past week on PS5 after all the praise it has been getting lately “it’s fixed now! It’s amazing! There was this good big patch!” And let me tell you, it’s still so full of bugs, both visual and gameplay, I even had a game breaking bug in a main mission that made the game crash multiple times and I was stuck on it for a while. The world couldn’t feel more dead and bland, it’s big and pretty but at the same time it feels lifeless. I hated most of the characters, Johnny especially, only decent characters were Jackie and Takemura. The main character V is unlikable, the dialogue is just weird no real people talk like that. And most of all what’s the point of customizing your own character and not being able to see them?? I felt like only the first 6 hours (trial hours) were actually good, after that it just gets boring and worse.
I played on Series S and had my playthrough halted by a game-breaking phone bug. Any time an NPC calls me, I'm unable to answer. The game treats me as if I'm still in the call. I'm unable to use vendors, fast travel, or save my game. I've reloaded a previous save, but it inevitably happens again. "Fixed" my ass. . . Deus Ex has better lore and story too.
When it comes to bugs in gaming that’s just something you’re gonna have to deal with, I mean if you look at MW2 beta it was still buggy and yet you know for a fact that once it’s partially fixed everyone will still play it, as if glitches didn’t exist. Night city is meant Feel like a lifeless, dead, and bland experience due to crimes, cyber psychosis and cops not given a care about civilians, and of course arasaka. like what did you expect society to come out as, if it had these kinds of experience😂 And Johnny was meant to be an annoying character they didn’t care about anybody else around them since people saw him as a crazy individual that hated Arasaka for no reason, So of course he felt lonely in his own lane and started to be fake around his friends and using people for destruction, Since he was the only witness that saw the horrifying management inside the Operation of Arasaka. Top tier character in my opinion. The reason why the game itself made you customize your own character it’s because they wanted you to feel as if your literally inside the game, You’re the character or the legend or your the villain. Your choice, Yeah it sucks that you couldn’t see your characters Face That much but at the same time just like in real life, you barely see yourself, Like a lot of people are insecure looking at themselves in a mirror or even taking a picture. You just wake up go to work get back home eat and sleep, Just like real life. Don’t know what kind of dialogue is weird for V but if you’re talking about the interactions with Panam. obviously every relationships in general are going to be cringe that’s how close relationships is, when you focus yourself being Mr perfect all the time, it just makes you look boring and uninspired to think outside the box. so of course in a loving relationship you’re going to have to be corny. Outside of that once again the city is a heartless place so everyone you meet in night city, there personalities will either be dirty, slow or lazy. I can’t think of anything else that makes cyberpunk really bad honestly even the act man video is poorly misleading. Cyberpunk is the best story, best game ever made, I’d rather take games That take eight years over waiting two years for a call of duty game or any that’s always going to be the same thing.
The issue is that the missions in a vacuum, one by one is REALLY good. Highly engaging and immersive as hell. But from A to C you have the city which is B. And the city as others have said, feels like an extended loading screen. You dont do much except go to another mission. Sure its pretty but its soulless NPCs ruin the atmosphere. Whenever I help someone that gets attacked, them thanking me is the only interaction I have with the NPCs that make me feel somewhat caring and immersed.
I actually agree, even in comparison to the Witcher 3, in the Witcher you have npcs talking about things relating to the area and quests, certain npcs spawn in certain zones that they fit into, you get dock workers and prostitues in the docks of novigrad and rich townsmen in well off areas of novigrad, but in cyberpunk there is very little of this, it feels very mashed together and with very little of it fitting in place and the npcs don’t even feel like they are actually in the games world.
Yeah the missions and the characters were done pretty damn well overall. It's just the more I go through the game, the more obvious it becomes that they just didn't have enough time to finish the game. Stuff I would have thought to be no-brainer additions were blatantly missing. The time skip cut scene after meeting Jackie just seemed like an intentional band-aid of what would have been fully fleshed out missions just for simple lack of time. A lot of corners were cut definitely, and they should've waited longer.
Wait what NPCs thank you? In my opinion they either just don't notice me after I save them or sit scared (full stealth gameplay, so I'm sure I did not hit them)
Even tho one is a gta-like and the other is (or want to be at least) a rpg, I want to compare it to the remake of mafia 1 : in the game, you do one mission after the other, without free roaming into Lost Heaven. Sure, it makes the story more scripted, but each and everyone of them is unique and lovable ; and even tho you have the option to freeroam into the city, its in a different gamemode, but it makes the game wayy more interesting than cyberpunk's soulless night city will ever be
I was only ever interested because of that 3rd person cinematic at E3, and yet they never seemed to get why that might've been that way to begin with, and why so many people shared that point of view. Ever since the initial gameplay was shown it felt like an immense downgrade, but I guess we all sorta' ignored the red flags until it was too late.

You know those games that you launch when youre bored of the game you were playing, and halfway trough the loading screen youre like “ah nevermind fuck that”. Yeh thats cyberpunk for me.
I don’t think it’s a coincidence I abandoned the game right after Jackies death. The game just felt boring after that which is strange given how hooked I was on the story.
@fentolix5973 did you just make all that up? You liked the story but it didn't even tell you 1/10th of it, and I'm glad it got its full opportunity to show what it could be, it has San Andreas level missions and NPC's but genuinely good driving and difficult but eventually fun lock on weapons, making uh bad cops... and enemies do the S word, that's insanely fun and I just started the game anfee weeks ago and I'm ig halfway through at 80hrs and it's so fun to fuck around in
I remember how mysterious the Voodoo boys seemed but ended up just being a geriatric gang that you barely interact with after the story missions with them
I remember when people said "I've been playing for 10 hours and havent seen any glitches"... trying to convince us the bugs magically disappear on higher end pc. Glitches or not the game is still boring AF.
Alot of the criticism this game gets wouldn't have happened if it was marketed differently, this game isn't about being who you want to be, it's about being V, it doesn't matter what guns you have or what clothes you wear, you're still V, the game should've been marketed around V as a character rather than "someone the player customizes" cus this is more about V's story than it is a story the player makes.
It was initially going to be that and then Keanu got involved and it became much more story driven, less about just being 'in the world of Cyberpunk". The biggest mistake was completely changing the games focus halfway thru development.
It chose this unhappy medium where you don’t have enough freedom to truly make it feel like your own story, with the biggest problem being that you can’t really give yourself much of a motivation, but also not fleshing out V as their own character enough to make them not feel like just a vessel for the player. It simultaneously makes V as an individual character separate from the player weaker, but also makes them fail as a character that the player uses as a vessel to express themselves, like how you can characterize the kind of person that Courier Six is in New Vegas or Hell, how you can even characterize Link in BotW in little ways even if your dialogue options are fairly limited. It felt like there was a disconnect between the way that I chose to act and the way that V acted without my control, which made my decisions feel like they meant less. They tried to have their cake and eat it too, and they ended up dropping it on the floor. In fact, this design philosophy of trying to do contrasting things is echoed throughout the entire game’s design. It feels like, in an effort to market this game to as many people as possible, they tried to do so many different things and none of them get fleshed out enough to work very well but still conflict with each other.
@@GoreGutztheImpaler still far better than the misleading (read: malicious) marketing they went for instead. Lying is a whole lot worse than just disappointing.
Funniest part is that the armor system is broken to fuck. Found out about crafting the armadillo mods and now I’m unkillable even on the hardest mode possible
So we could turn ourselves into a unkillable terminator. Well that would be boring due to the no risk feeling whatsoever. There a reason why health system made us pump with dopamine when we need to think about how to handle the situation effectively.
@@vh9network No it doesn't help at all. @@trinity4666 It depends on the build you went with, mine was a close combat build, and I found legendary armor with 3+ slots on each item that I stacked with epic armadillo mods. Try that.

Didn’t they play a hyper controlled pc version of the game? From what I remember you could only play 6 hours so they experienced the parts that had effort in them
As someone who bought the game late 2023 I fucking love this game. 0 bugs. Only time I really noticed anything was a drinking animation where V didn't actually pick up the beer. But most games don't even have that sort of animation detail

I loved everything about it, the gameplay, the story, the relationships with the characters, it was one of my favourite rpgs for sure, and I'm planning to do a second playthrough to check out the new dlc
In the mission where you invade the compound after scouting with the Japanese guy i had a glitch that stopped enemies from detecting me, so in a stealth mission I could sprint straight past them and not be seen
Their "apology" didn't even mention the missing features and shit, just the bugs and performance. Honestly CDPR are lucky the game is buggy as it is, because then no one notices the missing features, the non existent RPG and story mechanics and the misleading marketing because of how bad the bugs are. The fact the game isn't even in the SAME GENRE as what was advertised is disappointing. Your "life path" doesn't matter past 20 minutes into the game, none of your choices matter until the very end of the game. Dialogue options don't matter most of the time and they're more similar to Fallout 4's crappy dialogue system than anything else It’s also sad that the story isn’t about V, it’s about Keanu Ree- I mean Johnny Silverhand

The fact the city on the surface looks so big and alive, only to realize all the old gta games have more city interaction than this game does, is what did it in for me and im sure many others.
@dj Kplus yes, because it makes it feel less immersive and less interesting to play around with. I know the average Joe just walks around but there should be something to do that makes you actually feel like you're in a city. Not "walking in a city" simulator
@dj Kplus yes. Because there’s nothing to really do aside from buying stuff and doing quests or crimes. Normal people are supposed to live in Night City. The fact you can’t gamble, can’t play any arcade games, can’t eat in a restaurant, can’t work out in a gym, can’t do much aside from killing people and stealing stuff, and can’t interact with the population makes it a dead city. It looks amazing, but there’s absolutely no substance to it. There’s so much to see and so little to do.
@dj Kplus no, no it isn’t. Cyberpunk is an open world game. Open worlds are, for the most part, only as good as the content within them, and that content needs variety. Just having a bunch of the same thing to do makes an open world bad and lifeless. This is exactly why people don’t like Ubisoft games. That stuff I talked about wasn’t fluff, it is integral to crafting a good, immersive open world. Without variety of content, including the stuff I mentioned, it is bland, repetitive and boring. So it’s absolutely not fluff. It IS substance. And it matters way more than you give it credit for. Let’s look at an actual good open world game for a second: Breath of the Wild. While there’s definitely a main story and a bunch of side quests in a quest log, there’s also a lot to do in the open world. Shrines and Korok Seeds make up a massive percentage of the content in Botw, and yet you would apparently define that as fluff. Then there’s all the cool mini games you can do, like Snowling, the chest game, foot racing, archery challenges, and more. There is infinitely more variety to Botw than there is to Cyberpunk, and much of that is owed to what you describe as “fluff.” However, it doesn’t stop there. Cyberpunk’s quest design is repetitive and boring, you’re doing the same thing over and over again, and with how the game bottlenecks play styles, you’ll be forced to resort to the same approach for basically every mission. Meanwhile, in a quality open world, like New Vegas or Skyrim, the quests are all varied and different, not just “go here and shoot these guys, maybe rescue a hostage or plug yourself into a computer.” Breath of the Wild’s side/shrine quests range from finding and taming a gargantuan horse, to freeing an ancient dragon from an evil curse, to being stranded on an island where you can only rely on the tools you find there, to piecing together a prehistoric monument, to taking photos of Guardians for a person named Loone who is attracted to them, the list goes on and on. There were like maybe a dozen or so side quests in Cyberpunk that I thought were interesting, and about half of those I actually had fun playing and getting through them.
@dj Kplus it actually is, at least partially. The game never encourages you or pushes you to handle encounters differently, and being able to actually pick between which ones you want to use becomes harder with how carefully you need to spend your skill points in order to actually be good at anything. If I can just solve all of my problems by running in and slicing everybody up with a katana, and face no real consequences for it, what reason do I have to do anything else when the gameplay style that I’ve made my character really good at can just do everything I need? With how much the game bottlenecks you with how scarce skills points are, and with how you earn more by earning experience for something you’ve already invested a lot of points into, how can you really have flexibility without severely sacrificing the effectiveness of any of them? It doesn’t matter what the shards say, they’re still generic. A few paragraphs you can read are not an alternative for more varied and interesting quest design. Those guards should have pulled up on the employees and opened fire on them in front of you. The use of shards as a replacement for showing it in game goes completely against “show, don’t tell.” The shards border on “Drebin explaining the backstories of the B&B unit after the fight with them in MGS4” levels of lazy, poor design. The enemy variety in this game is a complete joke, I’m glad we can at least agree on that. You managed to completely miss the point of what I said. Shrines and Korok seeds revolve around puzzles and mini games. They are also the majority of the “content” in Breath of the Wild. How is operating a big cannon or putting a rock down in a circle of other rocks any less “stupid” than the mini games of SA or NV? Again, show, don’t tell. The shards are lame excuses for terrible mission variety. At least in Skyrim you actually interact with the world and see the stuff people talk about. This even goes back to Oblivion with stuff like the Dark Brotherhood. Elder Scrolls quest design and world-building is superior to Cyberpunk’s because they aren’t reliant on a completely optional essay that tells you something the game should have shown you. By your logic, cumbersome and unnecessary exposition isn’t a flaw, and a game that tells you a ton of information is better than a game that shows you the important information. I honestly could not give less of shit about the updates. The game is a clunky mess and has a bad and boring foundation. Unless they pull a Battlefront 2 and totally overhaul the game, it won’t be fixed or even worth buying. The stuff you’re talking about should have been in the game on day one. What you just described is the bare minimum a person ought to expect out of a AAA open world game. The AI isn’t good now, it’s just functional enough, like GTA V’s AI. The combat isn’t a sandbox when you have to walk in with only one or two things to play with.
@dj Kplus holy shit I’m not even going to try and reason with you anymore. I thought I was actually talking to a real person who actually could respect another human being, but your response is barely coherent. I guess it’s my fault for playing on Very Hard, because once I got past the early game, I got punished for experimenting with anything besides my best weapons and skills, which I had mostly invested into hacking, Cold Blood, katana skills, and speed, with my cyberware mostly focused around agility and slowing down time. I actually did manage to stealth my way through a few scenarios, making do with hacking instead of takedowns and such. But the game never gave me any real incentive to do so. I could just run through with the katana and there was no noticeable difference. My issue isn’t with the shards themselves. It’s how you’re using them as an excuse for bland and repetitive quest design. I never said stuff like that didn’t happen at all. In the real side missions, it did happen and I appreciated it when it did. But the vast majority of missions don’t have this. What they have is shards that explain everything when the game could have shown me, or at the very least had a character talk about it instead of having to pull up the pause menu and read it all. I like reading, but games have alternative methods of storytelling that should have been used instead of the shards. Imagine if in New Vegas, nobody talked about the origin of the Powder Gangers or why they were threatening Goodsprings, and you were instead handed or found a written threat from the Powder Gangers explaining their origin and how they were looking for Ringo and wanted the territory. Sure, it would work, but what we got in game is so, so much better. Look, I would be more comfortable with that sort of storytelling if it was in something like Kirby, Dark Souls, or Elden Ring, where the lore is intentionally obscure, and not used as an excuse for bland and boring mission design by basically just existing purely so that guys like you can say the missions aren’t repetitive even though the structure of each is almost copy+paste. I’m not even going to bother trying to deal with any of your pathetic straw-man arguments. You’re putting words into my mouth and preaching your own superiority constantly. It’s clear you’re not interested in any sort of productive or intelligent debate. You’re only interacting with me to heap praise upon yourself and insult me. It’s honestly quite pathetic. You’re only interested in worshipping this game and touting it as this masterpiece of game design, and berate anyone who dislikes it or has an issue with the game design, and claim them as unintelligent or claim they have poor taste. People like you aren’t worth my time or sanity, so I’m not wasting any more of either on you.

The sad thing is a lot of the world building Act Man is complimenting is nothing to do with CD Projeckt Red. It's all lifted directly from the TTRPG the game is based on. All that creativity came from the writers of the setting and the books that make up the TTRPG not CD Projeckt Red.
Somehow I think translating a table top rpg world into an actual open world with is a humongous undertaking. Are you really suggesting the entirety of night city is so unoriginal that it is based on the little amount of 2D world building of 1988's Cyberpunk? I'm sorry but thats bullshit. This is like suggesting that the world building of baldur's gate 3 should never be credited to anything that Larian ever did because after all it was adapted from DnD. Do not for a second think that a 3D open world game world can steal world building tactics from a 2D ttrpg. Its ridiculous to suggest that. This isn't Lord of THe Rings that every little piece of world building required was available on hand in the books. It is an open world video game. The infrastructure of Night City is so detailed and well made that the ttrpg would have to have had every little minute detail mentioned with a blueprint for you to call cdpr talentless in their world design.
@@killingjoker797 I'm talking about the world building, the lore of the game world. All the gangs, the corporations and the slang are all from the ttrpg. @iank472 Hmmmm fair fair. But still they took all tht and did something new with it. Told a new story and credit must be given for faithful adaptation. But I still think they must be given credit for quite a bit of it. Creating a world like that requires serious effort and dedication to the source3 material. I'm glad Keanu Reeves isn't getting hate. Man is probably upset after hearing the response and seeing the result
keanu deserves no hate honestly, i always believe that a bad thing shouldn't hurt everyone associated with it. if coca cola came out saying they used elves as slave labor, i wouldn't hate the logo designer, the factory worker, or the janitor. Hate is like credit, give it where it's due and everything else leave it. I'm so proud of people for not hating keanu cuz he's awesome and has a track record to be emulated. i hope he gets more roles in video games, cheers!
Keanu is too pure to be hated, and too awesome for this game. He deserved better.
This entire reply section is full of paragraphs

What pissed me off was that the cops were actively teleporting into pacifica, a place without police when I did a crime
According to the devs, the police was added in the game last minute T_T

I just played the main story and side missions because those contained the gameplay the game was selling me on and what I was looking for.
in rdr2 it has more impact and relevancy to gameplay, i'll give you that. but you can still beat the entire story without donating to the camp once or without even trying to upgrade your character, so it feels near unnecessary. if the game halted story progress if the camp was low on funds, it'd make more sense but it doesn't do that.
i understand feeling miffed at the things cdpr lied about. some of it is cool and it sucks we'll never see it, such as the corrupt cop system. but a lot of it feels just unnecessary and goes down to the biggest problem 2077 has, that it tried to do too much in development rather then being focused on one thing.
what would wallrunning add? basically none of the level design is built around it. what would side leisure activities add other than a distraction? hell I don't even think I've tried hooking up with a joytoy (the only real example of this in-game) once. because it's not what the game is selling me on. the game is selling me on THE GAME. not fucking a hooker. what would the metro system add? another way to travel? why bother when we have cars and the fast travel stations? what about daily npc routines? sure it would be cool but how many average players would even notice that? my point is that all of this stuff is just unnecessary fluff at the end of the day, save for a few genuinely cool ideas. it sucks that they lied, yes. but i think the game would've been even more unfocused if they actually tried to jam all this in.
cyberpunk isn't perfect. it's still far from what I wanted it to be, which is an fps rpg on the same design level as new vegas. but as it is it's a fun open world fps with light rpg elements and REALLY good character writing (seirously, did act man even bother with panam's quests? or river ward? or even LISTEN to johnny's backstory? there's a lot to care for with those characters and i really felt invested in them.)
and here's the last thing too. might sound like i'm overselling it, but the reason people aren't coming back is because of "just one anime." it's because that "one anime" proved to be a better introduction to the world then the actual game did, and it got so many people connected on an emotional level to the world that they want to explore more of it. it's not just a show, but a fucking amazing one. and even if you haven't played 2077 or are still burned by it I highly recommend watching it.
@@Gowst99 because its not a gta clone it dosent have to be like them imo CP is better than all rockstar games maybe except rdr2 witcher 3 dont have any thing to do outside missions except gwent and still no one say a word about it
CDPR fell to the same trap that every big studio falls in eventually: they tried to create something way too big and lost track of the goal.

Never dealt with hackers or modders in GTA Online. Some clown 🤡 tried to boot me once and that didn't work.

Yo Johnny, when we getting the contest results
What really does it for me is like the literal non existent wanted system where police just appear behind you like gta 3 had a better police system. And shit like not being able to shoot car tires and cars not even driving around traffic obstructions or reacting when you pull a gun on them. And the terrible AI in general. I tried to be optimistic but I think I'll probably never buy this game even tho I was super hyped for it.
@Arachnotron At. The. Earliest.
I just played through in my series S for the first time and I loved it still encountered some bugs but I had a blast
@@dohnjoe9211 damn that sucks sorry to hear my dude. I can only speak to my experience but I’m really enjoying the game
When it comes to bugs in gaming that’s just something you’re gonna have to deal with, I mean if you look at MW2 beta it was still buggy and yet you know for a fact that once it’s partially fixed everyone will still play it, as if glitches didn’t exist.
Night city is meant Feel like a lifeless, dead, and bland experience due to crimes, cyber psychosis and cops not given a care about civilians, and of course arasaka. like what did you expect society to come out as, if it had these kinds of experience😂
And Johnny was meant to be an annoying character they didn’t care about anybody else around them since people saw him as a crazy individual that hated Arasaka for no reason, So of course he felt lonely in his own lane and started to be fake around his friends and using people for destruction, Since he was the only witness that saw the horrifying management inside the Operation of Arasaka.
@@ObomodO good luck man, hopefully the game remains stable for you.
Sure, it makes the story more scripted, but each and everyone of them is unique and lovable ; and even tho you have the option to freeroam into the city, its in a different gamemode, but it makes the game wayy more interesting than cyberpunk's soulless night city will ever be
Yes, the main story an side quests are amazing but the open world aspect is boring
The 3rd person cut scenes looked amazing, and they were cut for ‘immersion’. My ass.
Loved seeing V in 3rd person!

V is boring af imo but the game still being glitchy and busted after this long is the worst part. I couldn't enjoy V if I tried and I did.
Good point. However I think if it was, more people would be saying what act man says about it only being in first person.

The video 'Its all QAs fault' the gaming community 'Did, did you just try to throw your QA department under a bus?!'
There is infinitely more variety to Botw than there is to Cyberpunk, and much of that is owed to what you describe as “fluff.”
However, it doesn’t stop there.

38:10, what would have been cool of Johnny’s motivation wasn’t that he had one, that he was just a violent angry dog that loved spreading chaos just for the fun of it because he lacked purpose and wanted to be remembered anything but a nobody, and by the end he reflects on who he was and comes to terms with the monster he and what he exactly is demented for, that would have been unique, but they didn’t to that, his motivation is way to external to be anything believable, him wanting to destroy the corps out of spite because “oh the are destroying the world” isn’t enough and a great character like Johnny deserved more then what he was given

It has also expanded and grown a Hell of a lot since 1988 given the dozens of source books. To use your analogy it's like crediting Larian with the Pantheon and geography of the Sword Coast.
@iank472 Hmmmm fair fair. But still they took all tht and did something new with it. Told a new story and credit must be given for faithful adaptation. But I still think they must be given credit for quite a bit of it. Creating a world like that requires serious effort and dedication to the source3 material. The places where world building is innovated is done perfectly and can't be done without a deep understanding of the original source material. Also it is filled with compelling characters that weren't adapted from the og srce mateial.
@@killingjoker797 oh 100%! The characters and stories are what made me play through the entire game even with the technical issues and problems. It was also really awesome to see all the source material being woven in. Unfortunately Act Man didn't seem to realise a lot of what he was praising was from the source material like the gangs and corporations backgrounds and complex interactions with each other. The story and characters on the other hand are completely original and deserve full credit to CD Projeckt Red.
@@iank472 Uk what sir? lets just agree that this is a fun game and a compelling narrative experience thanks to the joint efforts of Cyberpunk 1988, cdpr themselves and works such as Gibson's Neuromancer. Oh and all who came up with that fire music.
false avertising: *is illegal*

I can't believe people can fall for those mobile ads, they are so bad it's obvious :'D
@@MolkoKillStyle is usually kid falling for those. And you're able to tend him get away cuz most of those games are technically or usually free to play. Noodle some of them may be pay-to-win, pay-to-win is in part of false advertising. In other words they wouldn't really get in trouble so much unless people actually again bought something and didn't get what they paid for. The only reason why most mobile games Donkey caught with the false advertising pink. Never mind that there are so many out there, and never mind the fact that some of them might be made by Foreign creators who don't even live in the states and may have different advertisement laws.
and some games out there some might find decent for their play style organs that might have actually been decent games and could have gotten better had more work was put into them. But the developers don't care to do so and just try to make money off of it in any way possible even if it's just shoving an ad in your face for every time you tap the screen.
people seeing only bad apps use the tactic, even the good ones are starting to use this tactic. Even good games made by good developers on the Google Play is starting to use bulshit tactics from shoving ads in your face to making misleading advertisements.
@@MolkoKillStyle one example of a good game that was fine and didn't need to lie about its mechanics or its gameplay, war machines on Google Play Android. It was a pretty good game at the time I started playing it. I'm pretty sure it still is. I haven't played in a while so I'm not 100% sure. But they started coming out with ads right before I stop playing that that Ward completely lying about the type of game it was or at least it's gameplay style or mechanics whatever the heck. And it didn't make sense why they would lie and try to mislead people when they can easily drop people in with the truth. A third-person multiplayer based War robots game. They're advertising said they were ready had and we're honest were completely five. Then they just started bullshiting people out of nowhere. And it did and it didn't make any sense because this was a good game made by decent Developers.
@@HK47_115 Mobile games are made to be exploitable tho
@@HK47_115 This happens quite often in mobile games actually. The publisher just contracts an ad company and doesn't care what the ad company makes.
The story of Cyberpunk2077 makes a lot more sense if you'r caught up on the tabletop lore, Arasakas misdeeds, the corpo wars, Johnny's motivations. That being said, the game knew full well that most people havent and would not play Cyberpunk Red or 2023, so it was entirely on the devs to put in that exposition that provides the context that the game needed to stand on it's own.
Don't even know what's cyberpunk 2023 lol, I only know during the secret ending Johnny silver hand references 'party like it's 2023'
If a person needs to read supplementary material to understand the context of a story,it means surprise surprise,it ain't a good story! And this was a dumb easily avoidable mistake on CDPR devs part too.
@@Spartan-sz7km Well It would be really easy to understood that Arasaka Kidnapped Alt Cunningham Johnny's on/off Gf and used her to create Mikoshi/Soulkiller Granted It was also Game's story writing team fault aswell but I really dont understand ''story was confusing'' -argument.
@@infinitedreamer9359 Well CDPR is well known for making what are essentially Game Sequels to other Media, The Witcher games are sequels to the book, Cyberpunk 2077 is a sequel to Cyberpunk 2023.
@@lad7436 Okay and?Even if that's what they're known for,it doesn't change the fact that they did a poor job of providing context for CP2077's story. It was a dumb mistake they should've accounted for considering they have to have known that a large majority of people who picked up the game weren't going to know about the tabletop source material.
If you have to pick up supplementary material to get a games story, than that's not good storytelling. And using The Witcher(as CPR's last project) as an example, that game did a better job of providing the needed context so that people weren't left confused about the main plot and the world setting and the story was able to be more effective because of that.
