I played Skyrim and fall out 4, years ago as a young kid/man. Over the last few months I felt very bored. Work, gym, wife, kids, repeat. I missed gaming, I almost forgot I used to play and enjoy video games since life kind of took me as a prisoner. I bought the series x last week and searched the Microsoft store. My wife made fun of me saying “I didn’t know you liked video games omg”. I told her I wanted something to just relax to…I was gonna just download fallout 4 again and replay it but I saw New Vegas for $7. I was skeptical at first since it seemed so old but man.. this game has captured me. It gave me that feeling Skyrim did all those years ago. I think about it at work, I wanna play when I’m out shopping, I look forward to Friday so I can stay up until 3 am playing. New Vegas made me love gaming again and it’s made me remember apart of my that I forgot.
PLEASE play oblivion if you havent. its better than skyrim in every way except graphics and i will die on that hill.
@@remrem-gx3mlI'll die right there with you lol. Only thing Skyrim really did better was the combat feels slightly better. The sky feels like the limit when exploring the world, it’s quests, leveling your character, etc. Just picked this game up and just scratching the surface of the game it’s already one of my favorites. Gotta love new vegas. Tidbit about vault 22. In one of the dlc, you grt to read about a mans life - a dude that was there when the bombs dropped and his life afterward until his death at lile age 70-something. He mentions folks from vault 22 in there. Real great stuff. Even if it is through notes.
One small detail I like about the intro video (before the narration) is that it presents all the factions. We start at the Lucky 38 (Mr. House's home and central location in the game). The we see some NCR troopers in the Strip and then an NCR ranger next to McCarran. Then we see Legion soldiers. And finally we see Benny and the Khans (representing the independent route). It's an awesome intro that illustrates the central theme in the game. It's not the wasteland like in FO3, but the factions and people that inhabit it that matter.
Who's gonna tell Act Man that there is a way to quick-bind weapons, armour, stimpaks, and chems?

From the bizarre Sierra madre to the lonely journey
When I was playing the NV for the first time, I've stumbled upon a quest about rescuing NCR soldiers from a mine.
I went in, killed some legion boys, opened the cages and... the quest ended. This freaked me out, because it seemed too simple. So I reloaded and sneaked in to explore the mine before saving the soldiers. Found nothing. Then I put on some legion armor and tried speaking to the legion troops in the mine. Still nothing! This quest was driving me crazy, so I resorted to googling all the possible outcomes. And, surprise-surprise, I instantly found out that the alternative solutions were cut from the final release.
And then it hit me. The rest of the game was so AWESOME, that a simple quest "Do exactly the thing you were asked to do and get rewarded" didn't fit in.
To this day I've never experienced anything like that. New Vegas is still the best RPG ever made.
This definitely needs a part 2 cause their so much more to talk about the companions of the DLC, even the history that's set up in the game, and the positives and negatives of which faction is the right fit to take over the Mojave
"You literally cannot experience everything New Vegas has to offer in a single playthrough. If you put all your points into lockpicking, you can open everything. But you can't convince this kid to buy drugs from you, and that's a real tragedy."

A detail I really liked about the game is how the only "unkillable" character in the game (aside from children), Yes Man, can actually be killed, but always returns and says how he has like a gazillion body replacements around. Obsidian found a way to make a character's immortality not only canon, but plausible.
I can only imagine how good this game COULD HAVE BEEN if they were given proper time to polish it all up
The same for Victor. He died twice in my playthrough and still appeared at the Strip with the same explanation.
Don't forget the vendertron.

I remember, I walked into Caesar's camp on my first playthrough and started blasting, and kept thinking, "there's no way I can just kill this guy, he's the main villain of the game" and then Boone blew his head off right in front of me. That's when I realized this game was truly something special.
I was always a big fan of Boone unintentionally jump-scaring me by blowing the brains out of enemies that I didn't even know were there xD I'd just be walking somewhere and suddenly the screen jump-zooms to some slow-mo footage of a legionarie's head exploding from 12,000 feet in the opposite direction.
I'd turn around in time to see Boone running back to me, having snuck off without my noticing.

I thought it was so cool that they had different dialogue for your standing with the factions
Boxcars, the 2nd winner of the Nipton "lottery" calls you a Grim Reaper if you are vilified with the Powder Gangers. That's a pretty badass moniker.
That that made it one of the best RPGs for that reason right there
So true. And if/when you're playing a female character Boxcars will also add, "What do you have against us b***h!?"
That line still kills me everytime I hear it.
"First I get my legs smashed, then in walks the Power Gangers grim fuckin' reaper!"
That was exactly the line......you never forgot.
On Hardcore difficulty if you recruit any allies and they die during the journey you get unique dialogue about their death in the end credits and the mark they left. Now that's dedication to the writing.
You get that too if you just kill them before recruiting them or pissing them off to the point they leave you
Not like anyone would actually pick default difficulty
@@Brandelwyn Why wouldn't I?

I remember Old World Blues being pretty great for how it amps the "Science" aspect of the game up to a hundred, with some pretty good weaponry and, a personal favorite, plenty of nods to the Venture Brothers cartoon.
Dead Money was another great spin on the "Heist" story type. With interesting characters, setting and how it was very survival focused.
The base game certainly remains an outstanding piece of architecture on how to make an RPG, but the expansions certainly added quite a bit.
@@Micecheese I cannot recommend the DLCs for New Vegas more, they are amazing for the simple fact that they are so cohesively connected. I think my biggest gripe with newer BGS and Obsidian games, is the lack of depth in the character creation, attributes, stats, and the leveling system. They just keep simplifying that aspect, to where shit doesn't even feel like an RPG anymore. Like how are we getting less mechanics in that regard with every single entry. Like NV and Morrowind were not perfect games by any means, but the level of freedom to really create a distinct character, with no real single best choice, is just unparalleled in today's environment.

How can he make an hour long video when he doesn't even know how to use the three seashells?
How did he not see the hot key fr
I mean, the game doesn't "explicitely" tell you, but the option 'is' there. On my PS3 controller, it tells me to use RB (basically R1) for quick select. Then you just press on the D-pad which item you wanna use.
The game includes a how-to-play file. I guess I'm the only one to ever read it.
best opening act man intro i’ve ever seen. only rivaled by the black ops 1 review
No shame this is like the 3rd time I’ve seen this video. Favorite reviewer talking about one of my favorite games

i only found that out on my second playthrough.
Wait there's a hotbar?

Pure gold for the intro
Now that Microsoft owns Obsidian and Bethesda, they need to let Obsidian make New Vegas 2.
Before that though we need a remastered NV.
@@RKidd-ex3rh I think a remake would be better there is an absurd amount of cut content
Meh, not a fan of their current staff. Honestly I've even lost respect for Josh Sawyer. Especially after the shit he said about Kyle killing the real life version of Cook Cook in self defense. Equating it to Portland Red bushwhacking someone and fleeing the state. Before trying to match the marshals with big irons on their hip.
Or fallout 5, that would be good
Abso-f*cking-lutley
I just appreciate how much effort this documentary must've taken to make

Jumping around in slow motion makes you wander when act man do a review of the WHOLE MAX PAYNE SERIES
I'm a teenager, and grew up on the 360 because we always waited years after the release of consoles to buy the next. Lego Batman 2, Terraria on the 360, Halo Reach, Plants VS Zombies, and Arkham City took up more than half my free time. Eventually, the power button went red, and the console hummed itself to sleep.
That was that, and we bought the Xbox One a few months after. Out of nostalgia, I asked for another Xbox 360 last year, and it was the best decision I ever made. Pulled the hard drive out of the old, dusty, broken Xbox, and slid it into the new one, with hundreds of games, Metro, New Vegas, Fallout 3, the Arkham Games, Skyrim, Fable, Halo, etc. I gave Fallout 3 a try, and enjoyed it, but as someone used to Fallout 4, I lost interest because I never enjoyed the game and never took my time with it. Out of sheer boredom, I booted up New Vegas. The music made me wet, the NCR armor gave me chills, and the Wild West was something I yearned for after beating Red Dead Redemption 1 & 2. I love RPG's with a passion, and when I was able to create my character with depth just short of Skyrim, I was hooked. Went for a diplomat build, crawled my way across the desert on one leg, (The game was a fresh and difficult.) and reached New Vegas. I played for countless hours, got lost in Vault 22, explored New Vegas, softlocked the game, saved the president, and fought alongside the NCR in the battle for Hoover Dam just to betray them and take over New Vegas. I played it again and again and again, and I'm starting my fourth playthrough. This is the best game I've ever played. Fuck Fortnite, fuck Fallout 76, and FUCK MWIII. This is the only game that I will enjoy the most.
"Because reptiles like the dessert"
*shows a scorpion"
No no he's gotta point.
I was just thinking that as I read your comment. Scorpions are an arachnid. Also, it's desert, not dessert.

@Green
The Courier w/ 10 Intelligence: Did you know that if you position your head in a certain way you can increase your chances of surviving a headshot?
Benny: What in the goddamn. . .I shot you twice.
The Courier w/ 10 Intelligence: Yeah and a super mutant I encountered shot me over 28 times with a minigun and I survived. Think you got what it takes?
Benny: Quite a story, kid, but your luck's about to run out. 'Tries to pull out Maria and feels nothing' Huh?
The Courier w/ 10 Intelligence: Lucky or not, I'm not out of tricks 'Pulls out Maria and points it at Benny'. . .or bullets.
Benny: Oh sh-
The Courier w/ 10 Intelligence: 'Shoots Benny in the head twice and blows his head to smithereens' Hear Death's bells. Ring-a-Ding-Ding!

I have nearly a thousand hours in this game and I never knew that the sign outside the door to the strip was updated with the names of the people you hire to perform. Man the level of detail in this game is incredible. If it took this team 18 months to make this masterpiece just imagine what a few years could have brought us.
When fallout is in the hands of the wrong people 😔 😫. NV defo the best Fallout made in 3D graphics
That is kind of a silly thing to get excited about since it's just the game slapping a few flat images onto a static sign, not particularly advanced even at the time the game was new, but they say those easily impressed will always live exciting lives in their own minds.
@@MegaZeta you're missing the point completely, intentionally or unintentionally. The devs didn't have to do that, considering it's such a small detail, but they did it anyway. No need to be rude about it and insult OP's intelligence.

You can’t fool me
My greatest memory from NV was when I was about 13 years old and a level 7 or so, I stumbled upon the Lonesome Road "quest", not realizing it was an entire DLC, and spent a month trying to finish it. I wouldn't have made it out alive without ED-E.
That’s exactly what I did when I first played the game and I was 18 years old lol
My favorite memory was when I was like level 8 and was exploring big empty and found the legendary bloatfly and got killed a unholy amount of times only to realize it dropped nothing of value
