Cheers James. This was my first 'proper' sports car I got to review. I've always loved the F Type so to get to finally drive one was very special and I think it showed in my face :-)
Canadian quota is small. I see maybe one a week in Vancouver. I test drove the R V8 but it was insane. I drive up the road to Safeway !...They sourced my car in Calgary and shipped it. Brand new...warranty et al. It is base 340 V6, but had $10,000 of options. Glass roof etc.....MSRP was $89,000, but I spent 2 weeks negotiating, and was happy with the deal in the end. I drive it permanently in dynamic mode (think we all do)....I like annoying people and my neighbours complain about the noise. YES !!!!!Be serene.M.
Malcolm Ferran I know I'm late but does your car have active exhaust? If it doesn't, his does the base model exhaust sound without it???? This car is absolutely beautiful geez
Petrol Ped thanks for the link, loved that too. Time for me to start saving hard I think! keep up the good reviews, be good if you could get your hands on some Aston's
My favorite f-type vid yet. Thanks man. Im in the U.S n im buying an f-type coupe 6cyl. It came down to that or a 911 997 and if i got that id have to change the stock exhaust bc its blah and the rims and maybe even lowering springs but with the jag i dont have to change a thing. So im waiting for a 14-16 silver or white with red interior to pop up near me. The jag does sound epic! The poppin on the downshift is sick! Thanks again
This is my favourite review of the F-Type. I feel the thrill and exhilaration of the drive and what a beautiful looking car. I love the leather combo of the interior. It's the car I so want after watching this review over and over again. It's sporty and classy!
I recently purchased a 2016 F Type. White with a manual transmission. It truly is an incredible machine. One thing I will state is the seats are a little stiff. Maybe I am just noticing because my other car, which is an Acura TL sedan, has very comfortable seats. But overall, it really is an incredible ride. And quite smooth actually. I had half expected a rougher ride due to being a sports car with stiffer suspension. But in actuality, it rides quite nice.
Just bought a V6 F today on impulse, usually way out of my $$ range but it has a little bit of body damage so thought I’d take a punt on it I’m really stoked to see this review now really can’t wait to pick it up next week cheers from NZ
Love your reviews Ped. I am literally torturing myself watching this because I can't change my Boxster until next year!!! This is my dream car and it shall be mine!!!
He is literally lost for words and that's better than any compliment in communicating to the viewer how good the car is. Having seen the vid, I'm now in no doubt the F Type S is a fabulous sports car. Quite possibly The best of what 2010's had to offer.
Thanks Ped, for a lovely review - I really enjoy your channel. As a Brit living abroad (Romania) I wanted a sports car and if it could be British too then even better! For almost 2 years now, I've been a very lucky and happy owner of a V6 S convertible in Italian Racing Red and I love it to bits. F-Types are rarer than hen's teeth here so I imported a 2015 model from Germany with just 23,000 kms on the clock and it drives like new. The pops and bangs make any day a good/great day. I haven't driven it on the famous Transfagarasan highway yet, but perhaps that's something to keep for this coming summer. All the best!
Petrol Ped I'm new to your channel and kinda binge watching your videos starting from the older ones and I must say, you are doing so well. Keep it up, Sir!

You watched he review, get existed again and again and that you remind me yourself that you have same one in the garage and just make life worth living. And that sound, you can't stop smiling, breaking necks is standard :) Man I love your review to the point - but adore my car, V6S white with red !
I’ve got a 2017 V6S in Storm Grey with black Tornado 20’s and extended leather. I can’t describe how much I love the car. I like the V6 soundtrack more than the V8. Depending what mode you drive in it’s a wider variety and sounds absolutely perfect at 2-3,000rpm. Thanks for the brilliant review!! I’m excited for spring here in the USA
To answer your question, I do not have the SVR but I do own the V8 soft top. The performance of the car is absolutely incredible. I traded in my SL65 AMG for the Jag so I get the performance factor. The exhaust sound is that much more intense and the horsepower difference truly puts the car on the border of supercar status. The total driving experience of this car is unmatched in this price category. Yes I have driven a 911 Turbo but definitely does not get the smile on your face the Jag does!
Yep it puts a smile on your face every ride. Had mine 2 weeks now and loving it. Driven both Coupe and rag top .... Coupe has a decent boot ... but for a weekend car rag top would be my choice too but don't plan putting more than a picnic box in the boot !!!
Hi Marc, you lucky thing ! I am aiming for an F Type for the next car and want the convertible, however the size of the boot is the big problem ! It just too small and that comes from a Mini owner :-)
I was going to leave any change until spring .... but then this came along V6 S AWD with 3,800 miles on the clock ... the rest as they say is history !

HI Petrol Ped, Just wanted to let you know that your video helped me buy my very first Jaguar F Type S. I even got the convertible. I am all the way from Sydney Australia. I enjoy your reviews. Thank you Wayne
Partly based on your excellent review (thank you!), I bought one of these two days ago. 65 plate £28,000 with a lot of extras. Like you, I'm left almost speechless. Just a GREAT car and, secondhand, it represents really good value at this point. Driving cars and riding motorcycles for 45 years, this is the best vehicle I've owned...and I've been lucky enough to own some very well-regarded (and expensive) vehicles over the years. Coming up 63, I guess I'm the classic later life silver haired crisis purchaser (the neighbours are already whispering) but I couldn't give a t*ss! 👍😁
Still got my licence! Heading over to France in June. Au revoir to the potholes of Surrey and looking forward to the pull aways from the toll booths and the beautiful curves of the Alps @@PetrolPed
I have the Convertible V6S and it is epic, the sound with the roof down is just unbelievable, it blows my socks every time I drive it. I did test drive the V8S convertible when choosing my car, and I have to say it was a bit intimidating, the V6S was the choice for me, and to be honest, I love the V6 exhaust sound, its like being in the 1960's fab !
I’m looking to buy one, trading a very special Defender. Your video has pushed me to getting a deal (and it’s on a convertible). Great review mate. Update, kept the Defender and bought the F Type. Loving it.
An iconic English brand for sure, it's been around for a long time. This model is great because you can get it with a proper manual gearbox, that way you actually get to _drive_ and properly interact with the car.
Great review....! I know the F-Type isn't as technically good on paper as its rivals. But I think as an overall package when you consider the looks, the character (of the car and engine) and how it makes you feel, Jaguar have scored big time with the F-Type...! I'd buy one over a Porsche in a heartbeat.
Me too Joshua. It made quite an impression on me. In this guise it was very usable too. Guaranteed to put a smile on your face ! Glad you enjoyed my review. Ped.
I now own one of these. Its a brilliant car, heavy on fuel though. Its best enjoyed in the countryside. If I lived in a city with lots of congestion, I would not get one- speed limits are 20-30 mph, you can't enjoy it.
I really enjoyed this video - I own a Jag XXj with a similar but earlier version of that engine, but at my age I only just trust myself in th saloon version. You’re right about breaking the law. - it is all too easy, luckily I live in the country and know the roads around here, which aren’t as busy as I was used to when I lived in West Sussex. And yes I still like being able to exceed the Ton!
What a beautiful car inside and out! They really did a fantastic job with the looks and functionality to make it match the price tag. Downside is I'd definitely get into trouble with that one 😆
So lucky, one of my favourite cars! Great review, love the 'noisy exhaust button' and glad to hear it's as great to drive as it looks! Really hope you do get to drive the SVR (preferably in Ultra Blue) - that thing looks incredible :)
+Petrol Ped Very much looking forward to the review if you do get the chance :) there is a British Design edition in our local dealership now, it's stunning!
Awesome video. It's not the first review I have seen of a supercharged Jaguar when the reviewer lapses into delighted laughter! I have a 2016 XF S: same supercharged engine, 5.1 seconds 0-60, similar suspension and red/black interior. I did a run on Saturday with a pal and we were both doing the "laugh out loud" thing. The XF doesn't have the same exhaust sound, sadly, but definitely has the same Jaguar pace and grace, plus even more space (room for rear passengers and more luggage). Loved this review and enjoying the channel!
I reeeeallly want one of these. I've only ever seen like 3 in the Midwest of the US. one is all battle aero and wrapped and looks sick. Aspire to buy one when they depreciate just a little more.
I know what you mean about wanting the Convertible, my wife has a base one, but either way, they are fantastic. Would like to see you compare a base to an S as the Torque is very close.
Very nice video of what appears to be an awesome car. By far the most desirable car you've reviewed so far (excluding Ruby of course). Who'd have thought a V6 could sound that good; a pity they can't do the same with F1 cars.
Great review, here's a tip, next time you go past the dealer pop in and ask him about the switch to the right of the gear stick, yes the black and gold one. I was talking to the deal near me who was talking to the designer who said he got this switch from the Euro fighter (TYPHOON) really, and this is the exact same one. that's why it looks so different from all the rest.
Your reactions during this video is what makes it so good! Always cool to see you enjoying the car your reviewing. Your right it sounds mean and looks sexy
A stunning car no question. A friend works for JLR and explained how Jaguar actually engineered the exhaust sound to achieve that lovely rasp and crackle.Question is if I could afford it would it be an F type or an R8? Maybe time for a test on the Audi?
I know it's engineered but it still sounds mega ! R8 or F Type ? That is a VERY good question ! I'm working on Audi to get an R8. I'm an Audi fan but the Jag is gonna take some beating. I'm hoping to get behind the wheel of the F Type SVR in a few weeks. That will win hands down !!
Ive been pondering about an m3 or f type and youve just made my mind up with this brilliantly produced video, f type all the way, you only live once f#@k practicality, ill do the shopping in the work van 😂😂. Im going to look at a v6s tomorrow Getting the feeling this is the better all-rounder for the road than the v8, lighter more accessible power, whats your opinion on the best engine for the real world?
another good video, I watched this as my friend has one , I know you said 1-0 to the Jag versus TTS, but sorry that Audi was gorgeous :) . I'm biased though as I have a TT Black Edition and my Ford Racing Puma that pops and crackles too :). keep up the good videos :) Vas
I think you should bring the V6 back to the channel now that you've driven so many upmarket models and say how it compares. I got a manual 2018 pre-GPF and I love it. It's probably the most underrated daily sports car one can buy for under 30K in the UK. What do you think?
What a fantastic machine, the only thing that goes quicker down the road than this is it's residual value, I had a quick look at my local Trader and you can pick an S up for around the 38k mark, that strikes me as a lot of car for little money but it does beg the question, just how cheap will they get? Anyway, you sold the car to me, that said, I'm off to watch your SVR film now and I'm going to assume it will involve your cargasm face telling me I made the wrong F Type choice and I have to rethink my whole F Type policy, great piece, thumbs up for the ride
LOL...love this comment ! I agree, you can get some mega bargains if you look at used. The SVR is awesome but I think a V8 AWD would be just as awesome ! Didn't know I had a 'cargasm' face :-)
Doc has upgraded me to a psychiatrist. This is not Chichester, it's downtown Vancouver. The F-Type seems to be aggravating the anxiety issues !....I drive in dynamic mode up to Safeway. I like annoying people and my neighbours complain about the noise it makes. 18 months and only 5,000 KM. Talked to dealer about upgrading to an SVR. I must be mad.
Check out my SVR review and there will be no turning back !!! Those things are truly awesome, probably my fav car I have driven so far on Petrol Ped :-)
I finally got an F-Type here in the US, and aside from the impracticality that presents itself by virtue of owning the Jag...screw it! Even with the 6 cyl, it is sooooo much fun to drive. And the "sexy" factor NEVER gets old (not only from myself admiring it, but to still get compliments on the car). Maybe it's just me, but while I know the Aston Martin Vantage and F-Type shared similar design cues (I think the same guy designed both), I find the Jag to look every bit as handsome as the MUCH, MUCH more expensive Aston.
Hi PP, i hope you're well. Great review of a great car. I'm 6' 1' do you think the seat has enough adjustment and headroom? Also, did the panoramic roof open? Keep up the great work on your reviews
The entire drive was about the exhaust note. No comments on handling, road feel, braking feel, gear shifts, fuel consumption et all. I love your enthusiasm but look forward to you commenting on other attributes.
I have the V8 5 ltr and it is a monster in red. I guarantee you will smile every second you are driving it. Only regret is the insurance costs less than £200 per year....Thats coz they say I am in a safe age group (64) and I will drive it very sensibly, never park it any where that is not safe and polish her every week,.Yeaaaa thats about it, I sure don't want to break her (her being "The Pus Cat"..

wowowowowowow You've never actually _driven_ a car. If you had you wouldn't have made such a statement.
Manoj - Jaguar is as Indian as the Kohinoor is British. JLR is always British no matter who finances it.
So there is the 2l at 300 hp, 3l at 340 hp, 3l S at 380 hp, 5l S at 490 hp, 5l R at 540 hp, and 5l SVR at 570 hp
@goldengraemesThe svr is mental with 570hp
Great review....! I know the F-Type isn't as technically good on paper as its rivals. But I think as an overall package when you consider the looks, the character (of the car and engine) and how it makes you feel, Jaguar have scored big time with the F-Type...! I'd buy one over a Porsche in a heartbeat.
Me too Joshua. It made quite an impression on me. In this guise it was very usable too. Guaranteed to put a smile on your face !
Glad you enjoyed my review. Ped.
Great review and a stunning car.
Cheers. I fell in love with it !
That’s a awesome spec. The sound in the convertible is insane but I think the coupe has better hips
Absolutely gorgeous! Can’t get enough of this car!
This video started my love affair with the F Type. My video next Friday at 6 is the new 2.0L F Type, a very interesting car.
Me and my buddy were having a drinking game. Every time we hear the word absolutely, we have to take a shot. ...............Now my friend is dead.
LOL !
Sorry :-(
Rip
Nice 👍 Glad you enjoyed the video. This is one of my early reviews filmed nearly 4 years ago 😜
Great review can't wait for mine to arrive now
Ooo exciting ! What variant are you getting ?
I assume that, like the xk, you can use the paddles any time, in any mode, without "switching to" first
Great review love your channel, my wife has brought me one and I can’t wait, picking it up Tuesday OMG 😁😁😁
OMG...she is definitely a KEEPER !!!!
Enjoy the new car ;-)
Jag employee buy any chance😉😂
Can she get me one too
What a beautiful car inside and out! They really did a fantastic job with the looks and functionality to make it match the price tag. Downside is I'd definitely get into trouble with that one 😆
Oh Yes...it's easy to do that :-)
A nice and honest review!
Keep it up!
Thank you. I did this one quite a long time ago now. Check out some of my newer stuff, hopefully I've improved :-)
Great review and video, thanks for sharing 👍
Thanks for watching!
Great review....love that sound!
It's mega !
Hi P Ped, seen your review on the Audi TTS, is the Jag worth the extra £10k (looking at 2014 f type and 2016 tts)? Thanks in advance.....
Yes it is worth the extra money for sure
So lucky, one of my favourite cars! Great review, love the 'noisy exhaust button' and glad to hear it's as great to drive as it looks! Really hope you do get to drive the SVR (preferably in Ultra Blue) - that thing looks incredible :)
Hi Charlotte. Glad you enjoyed the vid. Fingers crossed for the SVR. I think I might explode driving that puppy though ;-)
+Petrol Ped Very much looking forward to the review if you do get the chance :) there is a British Design edition in our local dealership now, it's stunning!
The "noisy exhaust" button is to get around noise regulations.
I personally like the sound of the V6 more than the V8. It has a higher pitch
It sounds like a classic Italian sports car while the V8 is more like a muscle car. I love my V6 manual transmission.
2:15 NOT "Sport Seats" (they come as standard), these are the optional "Performance Seats".
Real review. Great car
Cheers, glad you enjoyed it :-)
Awesome video.
Great Review Mate!!
Cheers. Glad you enjoyed it. I think I might have got a bit over excited a couple of times ;-)
I know what you mean about wanting the Convertible, my wife has a base one, but either way, they are fantastic. Would like to see you compare a base to an S as the Torque is very close.
Not sure I can do that but I hope to be able to compare the S to the SVR in a couple of weeks time ;-)
How do i get the saloon (same engine) to sound the same?
Can you turn the active exhaust button off in dynamic mode, so you get full performance but with a normal exhaust note without the pops and crackles?
I think so 👍
Very nice video of what appears to be an awesome car. By far the most desirable car you've reviewed so far (excluding Ruby of course). Who'd have thought a V6 could sound that good; a pity they can't do the same with F1 cars.
Cheers Bryan. Glad you enjoyed it. It did sound amazing :-)
I love facts like that ! Thanks :-)
Still one of the best looking cars on the road
Your reactions during this video is what makes it so good! Always cool to see you enjoying the car your reviewing. Your right it sounds mean and looks sexy
One of the first performance cars I reviewed 👍
Awesome video as always
Just wondering what sunglasses are you wearing?
Thanks. Oakley Jupiter Carbon :-)
Petrol Ped thanks 😎
Very nice! Thanks for the presentation!
My pleasure 👍
Is it not roaming into, Aston Martin territory, the bark from the exhaust, the performance and the looks?
Yep but half the price 😜
Excellent review, excellent car, nice one!
Cheers mate. Glad you liked it 👍
A stunning car no question.
Best far ever! SeenThroughGlass' one is just amazing... His is an F-Type R though...
Sam's car is stunning. I've seen it close up :-)
Petrol Ped Lucky...
another good video, I watched this as my friend has one , I know you said 1-0 to the Jag versus TTS, but sorry that Audi was gorgeous :) . I'm biased though as I have a TT Black Edition and my Ford Racing Puma that pops and crackles too :). keep up the good videos :) Vas
Cheers Vas. To be honest it's a close call between the two !
Your racing Puma sounds cool.
I think you should bring the V6 back to the channel now that you've driven so many upmarket models and say how it compares. I got a manual 2018 pre-GPF and I love it. It's probably the most underrated daily sports car one can buy for under 30K in the UK. What do you think?
Not a bad idea 👍
Very nice review, thanks!
My pleasure :-)
great vid mate
Cheers. Glad you enjoyed it :-)
Really enjoyable review. I want one too.
Thanks Julian. The want is strong with this one 😜👍
After nearly 3 years and many other cars reviewed, do you still rate this car?
Simple answer to that question...oh yes 👍
Great vid. I love these cars so nice
Right up there with my favourites and hopefully my next car !
That be cool
Hi PP, i hope you're well. Great review of a great car. I'm 6' 1' do you think the seat has enough adjustment and headroom? Also, did the panoramic roof open? Keep up the great work on your reviews
Yep. Plenty of space 👍
I have a question on that car can you adjust the seat or no ?
The entire drive was about the exhaust note. No comments on handling, road feel, braking feel, gear shifts, fuel consumption et all. I love your enthusiasm but look forward to you commenting on other attributes.
Check out other reviews in my back catalogue. Every car has a defining characteristic worth focussing on. For this car it was the sound 👌
Its is so beautiful!
Sure is !
My wife picks up a Fuji White F-Type tomorrow 👀
Nice 👍
I have the V8 5 ltr and it is a monster in red. I guarantee you will smile every second you are driving it. Only regret is the insurance costs less than £200 per year....Thats coz they say I am in a safe age group (64) and I will drive it very sensibly, never park it any where that is not safe and polish her every week,.Yeaaaa thats about it, I sure don't want to break her (her being "The Pus Cat"..
