    I dont get it people really do think having a 1000 HP is the standard these days. If you arent building a track car or a race car making 350 and up is perfectly fun for any somewhat daily driven car. I dont really know why have 300 is crazy. I test drove a 272 wheel horsepower 350z and that thing flew.

    I love my 2004 350Z which has become a track-dedicated car for me. I bought it with some performance upgrades already included and I have since added some myself. Power mods for my DE engine: Motordyne 1/2" plenum spacer, Tomei headers, HKS exhaust, Kinetix high flow cats ,VMS Racing oil catch can, Injen CAI, Uprev tune. Other mods: Tein Basic suspension/coilovers, Konig wheels with wider & stickier tires, Seibon vented carbon fiber hood, upgraded pads and rotors, SS brake lines and DOT4 brake fluid, front brake vents, front upper control arms for camber adjustment (rear adjustment as well), and Nissan Track edition rear diffusers on order. The tune yielded 268whp along with ~250ftlb of torque. I continue to think of ways to increase power or improve the handling of the vehicle: weight reduction, more aero options, and on my short list, Hotchkis sway bars. In the end, my car is not the most powerful - at times not even close - but it pulls hard, handles great, its a lot of fun, and I pass a lot of cars on the track that are far superior than mine. I am improving as a driver and having a blast doing it. Can I get 300whp out of my DE with only bolt-ons? Apparently not, but who cares. It's still a fun, powerful car to drive and I didn't spend a fortune for the whole package up until this point, especially since I do most of the work on the car myself, which also makes the whole experience that much more rewarding.

    I just did a dyno at z1 this Friday on my 07 g35 coupe de (auto) w/ custom fabricated v35 skyline 350 GT sedan paddle shifters ($450)
    on a g37s Oem steering wheel carbon wrapped with airbag and steering wheel commands all working perfect($115 w/ finesse)
    with transmission grounding kit($30) not the bs ground kit everyone else gets, (Used AWG 4guage wires Cheaper and thicker)
    alternator ground and battery cables upgraded to AWG copper 4 gauge wires..
    Invidia full cat back exhaust with z1 test pipes and heat wrapped OEM headers.(bitch to change lol)
    Injen cai aluminum tube(not short ram or cai but in between) JWT pop charger cone custom fabricated heat shield.
    Amazon $27 350ml Oil catch can with custom baffles holding copper steel wire.. (prevents oil blowback into the plenum)
    Customized OEM 70mm throttle body by loosening butterfly flaps and Dremel engraving a certain pattern off discontinued throttle body spacer(best mod)
    1 throttle body spacer on 70mm throttle body shrunk down from 70 mm to 60mm on 2nd half inch throttle body($35 for 70mm $17 60mm tbs) (mod done for air pressure to be increased by the time it hit actual throttle body) 60mm size piping(2inches long) to 2.5 ‘ injen cai connected with z1 4ply boot...
    Custom 1.15’ plenum spacer made by tracing plenum gasket onto heat resistant plexi glass with custom gasket maker on each end for more heat resistant properties. (Bigger spacing then z1 plenum spacer esp on lower cylinders)
    Oil pan spacer from z1 for running 7quarts of oil( mainly for safety of running low on oil as this is my daily driver too lazy to check oil everyday before work ( 5qts mobile1 10w30..1 quart Lucas oil treatment 1quart 5w30 royal purple oil)

    Stock height with stock sport suspension
    no spare stripped trunk to bare metal and noise proofed! Custom trunk sway bars( stock sways welded into frame thru floor)
    Seats and interior 10/10 perfect condition with upgraded g37 lighting and components for visual appeal and attention to detail.
    G37s coupe akebono front and rear calipers with brembo brackets. (Got lucky at pull apart) $87.... came back 1 hr later and took off rotors so I wouldn’t pay the full worth for the kit. Got rotors for $60 all 4..
    Long story short.... be unique.. be you!!!! I’ve never seen this on any other g35 or car in general as far as I took the mods with my g35... trial and error and common sense. I put wat I knew about exhausts and how diff sizes dictate air pressure and reversed the science on the intake end and it probably did the most combined with a storage area inside the plenum to capture all that air.. (trial and error gapping on plugs till I got the right gap)
    Dyno results 308whp 278tq
    Street dyno run 336whp 318 tq as in hitting the streets with a tuner next to you) getting real world data.... N/A with custom mods and high end exhaust.
    Real street tune will always be more efficient then a dyno with still air(even fans cant imitate real world driving))
    Conclusion g35s don’t lose a lot of torque for whp replacement.... the torque is what made me sure that the butt dyno I felt wasn’t fake...and street tuning helped me confirm that..
    It’s possible.. and I didn’t spend even $1800 on 97 hp gain...239 was my whp before any tuning was saved into ECU...
    Stop watching wat everyone else is doing at the end of the day your car is not motor dynes or Shawn’s or anyone else’s. Your gut will tell you what your car lacks in.. go with ittt.

    Fun facts. 90% of the time a throttle body spacer is worthless without an intake spacer or at least polishing the intake and port matching, so don’t bother with that unless you do those things.
    And with a cold air intake, do your research. Nearly all of “affordable” cai setups are gonna actually perform worse than stock. Stock is designed pretty well. Here is a hint. If you can see your air filter when you pop the hood, it’s sucking hot air in, not cold, it’s worthless. These rules are not universal, there are exceptions, but 95% of the time a th spacer is garbage in its own and CAI are way worse than stock.

    Have to remember to that these cars weight usually 900 pound less than mustang and Camaro SS, power to weight ratio is big time on these cars, 40 rwhp is like adding 80 to a mustang ,cause there so heavy ,my z has short headers Cai 18 pound flywheel and 19teen wheels I race a 2012 SS automatic, and I beat him on take off and from 60 to 90 he has 400 hp , so yeah headers were probably the best mod , stainless steel,71 dollars eBay made a great difference, so adding 20 hp on a car that weighs 3,100 pounds ,is the same as adding 45 up on a fat big like an SS

Ralzco light weight crank pulley full ported, and polishing on the upper intake manifold, lower, collector, and ported and polished throttle body. Now I know our intake manifolds are not the same, but this one has been reworked. I also added slightly bigger fuel injectors 335cc vs the stock 315cc. My best on the dyno was 285hp at the wheels. 300 whp on a non-revup won't happen without cams. With a setup like the one in the video, you can expect high 260's / low 270's. The video doesn't mention replacing the y-pipe. The ISR is an axle-back system, not a cat-back. My non-revup made 300 whp with high quality parts and C8 cams. The highest I've seen any non-revup get without cams is Russ's z, over at Z1. He made 283 whp on their dyno.

    ISR is great :D Ebay chinese headers are not. Its bad enough to install headers on the VQ, now you got a shit welded header on that will crack in a couple thousand miles from vibrations. : /
    You dont need to pay 1000 for good headers. On the DE you can get VHR headers for 100 and that ALONE will improve the breathing. Or get a used set.
    Blox spacers melt because they are plastic. : / Z1s are 100 bucks and aluminium.
    All these mods dont mean squat without a tune to actually get the ECU to use the more air going through the motor.

      Z33 Garage I don't know if those headers work? Aren't they square port?

    • @brokencarzgarage945
      @brokencarzgarage945  7 лет назад

      Z33 Garage also I don't know why people think you don't get power from mods to your car without a tune on the ECU your tune on your car automatically adjust the air-fuel ratios to a certain point so you will get gaines no matter what

    • @Z33Garage
      @Z33Garage 7 лет назад

      Thats simple, the DE is already pushing it when it comes to power on the Z platform. Yes the AF map will adjust but said window is stupid small. So yes while you might see a 5HP upgrade from your entire list of mods without a tune, that does not outweight the fact that adding headers to a DE will cause a lean situations at WOT due to the lack of a tune.
      This has been very well documented in the 10+ years of forum posts of people doing stuff to their DE motors and showing how the relative cost of performance / dollar on the DE is not a good return on investments, especially without a tune.

    • @Z33Garage
      @Z33Garage 7 лет назад

      HR and VHR headers work on DE blocks all day. However DE and VHR/HR test pipes do not line up. If you switch to tube header (like HR/VHR) one also needs to get appropriate test pipes to match the flanges.
      DE stock headers are single cast, while the others are tubular headers.

    I got 284 with about these mods. Really that's all you need. 300 you really won't tell much difference. The tune was the best part. Uprev tune is the way to go but save that for last because you won't see any gains from any of these mods until you tune it.

    • @AtroposLeshesis
      @AtroposLeshesis 6 лет назад

      I say that's all you need because I have not lost any street challenge yet even vs v8 corvettes, Porsche, sport bikes. Believe all of them were stock but still you would think those guys would win. Also side note try to get the car tuned with you driving on street because the dyno tune sucked, they try not to blow your engine on the dyno but if your driving they will actually bump it up some. Actually I even made the tuner little afraid because my car was getting so high in regards timing that it was a bit hairy so we dialed it back. Also remember you need maybe +5-7 more octane gas but you need to make sure you can afford that if you want the timing so high. Another note higher octane gas is not as explosive so allot of people are let down when car seems weaker so really there is no need for high octane unless boosted. +5 octane is about sweet spot for non boost and tune, least in my experience

  • @jp8950
    @jp8950 7 лет назад +22

    I think reaching the 300 whp in the DE, with the aforementioned mods is a bit ambitious. Of course, it all depends on the dyno you're running the car on, but for the most part, you're probably looking at 260 whp. The HR with top of the line bolt on's, i.e. Stillen Gen 3's, Motordyne Art Pipes and Motordyne TDX2 Shockwave exhaust, with an uprev tune will barely touch the 300 whp, sometimes making a touch more, depending on the individual car.

    • @brokencarzgarage945

      +John Politano I did it according to the Dyno

    • @jp8950
      @jp8950 7 лет назад +6

      I understand. When I brought my HR in for the above mentioned bolt-on's and tune, I was told not to look so much for the nominal end HP result, but rather a percentage of power increase from the baseline pre-modified dyno run. They estimated a 20% drivetrain loss, from the stated 306 hp , and then a 20 to 25% increase from the bolt on's and tune. So, what I've learned is that a Dyno is only a tuning instrument so show before and after results. Each Dyno can be calibrated differently, giving different nominal results. A good goal for a naturally aspirated DE or HR with bolt on's and a tune is a 20 to 25% increase from a baseline reading, which would be noticeable and significant to the driver. Ultimately, I'm going twin turbo, but I'm not in any crazy rush. Patients comes with age and experience.

    • @jp8950
      @jp8950 7 лет назад +1

      My 08 HR made 310 whp on a low reading calibrated dynocom, so I had close to a 20% gain to the wheels. The shop was surprised and pleased. I admit, the 25% is not a reasonable expectation, unless you add headers, which wouldn't make sense money wise, and with an eventual turbo going in, using it's own downpipes. The shop is Real Auto Dynamics in Oceanside NY. It is possible.
