Forged SPG Pistons, Injector Dynamics Fuel Injectors, Eagle Scat Rod Beams, HKS Gasket (redecked long block), K&N Typhoon CAI, ARP Pro Rod Bolts, NGK Iridiums, 5'16 Isothermal Spacer, NWP 75MM Throttle Body Kit, Stilen Struts & Adjustable Sway Bars, BC Performance Valve Springs, Cold Clearance (for JWT Cams), Invidia Exhaust, Berk Test Pipes, and still paying off the remaining $5100 to this day.
Having said that, I'm a guy who likes to do what most people dare not to do lol. Why? To be different "as that's the whole point of tuning." I mean seriously, if anyone is going to buy a sports car, then why not performance enhance it vs. stance it? The latter doesn't make any sense IMHO. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I got a G35. And look for boost up in a safe area to have fun , the longer, the better. Don’t want touch internals since the car have 75,000 well care miles. Still have great compression. I don’t want to be the fastest , but if I can make it faster and not kill the engine YET, will be nice. If you can give me ideas will be great, since you have experience with the same engine. Thank you for the video. Very helpful for vqs owners 👍

I'm just saying, everyone is always talking about "budget boost" like you can just slap a turbo on and make 500 HP no problem. there's so much more to it. I am planning to do probably the first high horsepower Altima coupe, like 680 wheel horse would make me happy and if I spend 8 to 12 thousand dollars on the engine and drivetrain I wouldn't be surprised. If you're going to aim high you need the bucks to back it up. (I currently do not) Also, this guy could've spend $1,300 on forged pistons and H beam rods and never would've had a problem, anyone who has researched the VQ knows the rods are the weak point, basically the lesson is research your projects before you start slapping stuff together!

500 whp is pretty easy to achieve on a budget in alot of cars. Look at kyle from boosted boiz. His civic put down over 700whp on an h22 swapped ek civic. He spent 8800 dollars including the car. That was just rods/pistons and maybe valves and retainers.
I get what you are saying, but there are alot of engines out there where literally all you need is a fueling system/big turbo and turn key ready to make 500whp.
2.0 tsi EA888 vw/audi fueling system good up to 450hp, stock engine good for 5. Granted it's already a boosted set up, but you see what I mean.
      K20's handle 5 to 600whp stock block j
      4g63's 5-600
It's all about the platform you chose. You can do alot with a proper stock engine.
An Altima is probably going to be alot more expensive, and going to need every nut bolt in/on the engine touched to achieve that goal, not to mention some sort of built tranny.

Still running a stock oil cooler, with a cheap looking filter. You do know that VQ's are known for running so hot the oil foams up, right? Add boost, and it's a recipe for valve, camshaft, crankshaft, gaskets, and rod problems. If the tune was even the slightest bit lean, you were frying the pistons, rods and valves. Even swapping the thermostat for a cooler temp, and putting a fat radiator could have likely prevented this, but nowhere near like a mishimoto oil cooler setup would have.

Hey man! I just watch your video fully. First of all I appreciate you sharing your experience. You seem like a decent guy to be honest! And sorry about what happened to your motor.... Anyway I have been thinking about boosting for over two months now. I met a guy who owns a GT-86 manual on stock internals with a turbo running 7 psi, and this car is his daily! He was kinda like proof and encouragement that I could do the same! But I've been reading forums and all that and people keep saying their engine popping and blowing after a certain amount of miles! So I don't get it. Is low boost like 4-5 psi giving like 50 more hp actually safe for a daily that I plan to keep for a long time? Will it be reliable for said long time? Or will the turbo screw the engine even on low boost daily driving? Now of course you said in your video low boost is better and wont murder the engine. Also my car is automatic, doea that make any difference at all?

Shouldve got a 335i. My stock runs about 8-10 pounds of boost. Add a tune like mhd and it will do 18lbs of boost without breaking a sweat with stock internals.

CarTech yeah man those 335i are beasts. Can make tons of boost without a problem but hey we live and we learn. Dont get me wrong 350z and g35 are fun but 6 pounds of boost is a deal breaker for me. Maybe im getting used to having over 15lbs lol

Barcelona Fan Since 2009 honestly German cars are such a bitch to work on tho, and VQ’s sound soooooo much better to me, but I have a GTI and it may be annoying to work on but it’s so worth it 👌🏻

If you have a built motor (I don't lol, don't even have a car yet, just considering a g35) then would it be worth it to boost I've heard of 600ish horsepower with fully built and boost would that not be worth it? I mean it seems pretty worth it but I don't even own a car yet so what do I know

    • @brokencarzgarage945

Why wouldn't 600 be worth it? I built mine for that I guess it's an opinion

So is being able to dailey a boosted 350z possible?

    • @justinwoods535
      @justinwoods535 5 лет назад +1

Michael Carrasco Probably, with a built motor and somewhat lower torque, you should be fine. Start really trying to push it and stuff will break.
