    I can finally say I have an Integrated Engineering Stage 2 - E85 Audi B9 S4! We performed before and after dyno testing to see if IE's downpipe would make any additional horsepower in my 2018 Audi S4. Integrated Engineering clearly shows on their website that there is no power difference between their Stage 1 and Stage 2 tunes but I wanted to see for myself.
    All hardware installations are performed by Reiter Performance. For more information on their services please reach them at info@reiterperformance.com or check out www.reiterperformance.com for more details

      Well you also aren't making as much torque and if you noticed in my video the OEM cat already had some small spots where the cat was melting from the excessive heat that a Stage 1 - E85 tune makes. I'd also consider this upgrade for the health of the vehicle long term.

    Sorry to ask if I missed it but is this on stock injectors and stock fuel pump? If so, will you be upgrading those as well as the hybrid turbo in the future with this S4? One thing I didn't see mentioned was E %. That can make a big difference. Also what duty cycle/ how close are you to maxing out fuel system? Possible boost is being pulled back some because fuel system is maxed out?

    • @VancityAudi
      @VancityAudi  Год назад

      It actually doesn't make a difference. I mentioned in my review video that through my datalogging, dyno testing and performance testing, my car was able to achieve its best results on E63. Nothing was gained at a higher ethanol content. No more power. No more speed. The only thing I ended up doing was taxing the fuel system more. This can be found at 7:37 of this video: ruclips.net/video/Az4z7fb9Wlk/видео.html There is no boost being pulled back because I'm maxing out my fuel system. My hpfp duty cycle doesn't go any higher than roughly 80% on these dyno runs when using this E content %.

    • @jackweisenburger
      @jackweisenburger Год назад

      @@VancityAudi i guess I can understand that with stock turbo and in that power range. But I've never seen a setup not at least make more low end/midrange power with higher E %, unless the tune is limiting torque through conservative timing and ramping boost in slower to save rods or transmission as a lot of ECU's do this factory. I wouldn't be surprised if an OTS tune did this as well since they have to work on every car its loaded on vs getting a custom dyno tune where it can be matched to the parts installed for most gains.

    • @VancityAudi
      @VancityAudi  Год назад

      @@jackweisenburger on this platform it's as simple as it is fueling limited. I've never seen a custom tuned, stock turbo B9 S4/S5/SQ5 perform any better than an OTS tune so I wouldn't be able to comment. What I can say though is with the OTS calibrations having to compensate for blends anywhere between 60-85% ethanol, you can only push it so far. Some people live in extremely cold climates so if they run straight E85 and it's super cold, they'll need way more fuel than someone that is in the heat and running an E60 blend. The necessary upgrade to squeeze more out of the stock turbo would be a HPFP and that is coming to market soon from a couple of the tuners.

    stupid question, when flashing a new file, isn't it advisable to drive it and let it adapt? and then bring it back on the dyno. Everytime I flash my cars the on-road logs looks quite horrible...after a good few kilometers and few WOT...the logs looks much better.
    also, when you dyno your s4 in manual mode, does it automatically shift at redline? reason why i ask because i see it jumps from 4th gear to 5th, then right after 6th gear? are you perhaps chaging gear manually when it auto shifts?

    • @VancityAudi
      @VancityAudi  Год назад +3

      Yes, the car will adapt. That's why we never do just one dyno run. We perform a bare minimum of 3 runs per file to ensure the car has figured itself out. If we see the car is still fluctuating quite a bit we do more runs.
      It automatically shifts to 5th when it hits redline. The dyno operator immediately then shifts the gears in the car and that's why you see that happening.

    • @Rommellollis
      @Rommellollis Год назад +1

      understood. im just really suprised at the small difference the stage 1 e85 vs stage 2 e85 makes.

      @@Rommellollis as much as I had hoped for a bunch more power I wasn't surprised at all. IE clearly states on their marketing of this product and of their tunes that Stage 1 and Stage 2 tunes make roughly the same power and that a downpipe sees gains once you go with a larger turbo.

  • @ripstikr27
    @ripstikr27 Год назад

    I know it's an old video and he's on to Stage 3 & beyond, but for everyone concerned about the mid range power 'loss', keep in mind he is running E85, which IE states is 'close to or beyond the fueling capability of the OEM fuel pump', which they say would be solved by installing an HPFP. So with an HPFP, we should see consistent HP and TQ gains throughout the entire RPM range.

    • @VancityAudi
      @VancityAudi  Год назад +1

      I only ran E65, not E85. The fuel system had plenty of head room. The fact it lost some power in the midrange doesn't make much sense from Stage 1 to Stage 2 seeing as the only part that was changed was the downpipe and the tune is supposed to be pretty much identical except for cancelling the CEL caused by the high-flow performance cat. By running their Stage 2 HPFP tunes you'd make even more torque and one would hope the torque would stay stronger for longer.

    • @ripstikr27
      @ripstikr27 Год назад

      @@VancityAudi Thanks for the reply! Sounds about normal for E85 in the US being closer to 65% ethanol on average, seasonally dependent. I'd be interested to see what a stage 2 with HPFP would change on the dyno, I know you're well beyond that deep into stage 3, but maybe it's something I'd be interested in testing myself. Keep up the great content, your videos have helped a lot in building my S5!

      @VancityAudi  Год назад

      @Isaiah I'm not in the States, lol. I'm in Vancouver, Canada. I blended my own ethanol by mixing E100 with our 93 octane pump gas to an E65 blend. I saw optimal performance on the IE tune on E65 and nothing higher. I'm sure with the HPFP installed you'll make more peak torque and hold higher torque for longer. I think that's an excellent idea for you to do a before and after comparison on the same day, on the same fuel and just a tune and HPFP upgrade.

      I have not. I don't believe in the claims that 034 has made. As far as I can tell they are the only tuner that I've seen that claims they make more power from a downpipe and going to Stage 2 over Stage 1.

      @@VancityAudi 034 has mentioned in a Q&A video that their Stage 1 w/intercooler and intake brings the B9 to 80% of the way power-wise to their Stage 2 w/downpipe and the aforementioned bolt-ons. @@voop00p and just because they say it makes it evidence? I'll wait till an unbiased 3rd party can prove their claims seeing as none of the other tuners agree with their sentiments. • @voop00p
      @voop00p Год назад +2

      @@VancityAudi I just took a look at their respective product pages. While both Stage 2 tunes are distinct from Stage 1 via the downpipe, they have different hardware requirements. 034 lists the intake and intercooler as requirements in addition to the downpipe for Stage 2. IE lists only the intercooler and downpipe as required. For the 034 Stage 1 power graphs I think it's safe to assume no bolt-ons but full bolt-ons for Stage 2 graphs. IE power chart is more ambiguous which bolt-ons are used if any. It's clear they have different approaches to their staging standards. 034 does mention preserving safety protocols a lot so it would make sense if that's why their Stage 1 is more conservative. But from a marketing perspective I can see this approach as a way to make Stage 2 and the required hardware more desirable.
      It seems that IE's downpipe is mainly intended for hybrid turbo setups so it's possible that the 034 downpipe is better optimized for the stock turbo. This might be related to why you saw a HP decrease after installing your IE downpipe. Also 034 is way more expensive so maybe it's more performant as well?

    • @VancityAudi
      @VancityAudi  Год назад

      @@voop00p Honestly I couldn't tell ya, haha. The one thing I can comment on is that the 034 downpipe is not optimized for a stock turbo more than an IE downpipe is. I'm postiive they are both manufactured to gain the maximum amount of performance period.

I drove a while with that setup and then catless with stage 2. 034 says like 10hp difference if you already have intake and intercooler but in practise my car is now 1 fully second faster from 100 to 200 thats a big gain i think.
    So i think with a colder day etc. You will be much faster i think

      Nice! Happy for the gains you saw. We'll see how my car responds on the street and track rather than a dyno.

      @@VancityAudi i think you make gains. Another thing i managed was EGT. I cant see how hot it is but with the catless i can make more pulls and runs before the car holds back.

      @@zuiddijk what intercooler do you have? Intake air temps have a lot to do with timing pull.

    U went with high flow in stock turbo that’s why u lost power u need more air for that high flow buddy

      Tuners other than IE claim that even a stock turbo will gain power with an upgraded downpipe. They would all disagree with you.

      I agree that I need to remember to do that on the dyno and the drag strip.

    Good to know there's absolutely no reason to install a downpipe unless you're going stage 3.

      Well, it does improve the sound and unlock some additional torque. If you're only looking for horsepower though, don't bother.
