Adam, Isn't Valve Float caused by weak valve springs at high RPM's? Your RPM's were not over 6K, so how could VF be your issue? Please explain. Thank you.
Only thing I don't like about ethanol is the lower BTU/volume vs gasoline. Ethanol has a higher octane value so you can crank up the boost more and not get knock. More boost = more heat generated by compressed air. To me heat isn't good. Why you are getting valve float with higher boost. Springs can't overcome the pressure in intake.
Or you could think of it as ethanol is excellent at cooling the air that is injected into the engine resulting in longer spark plug life and fewer combustion deposits.

I've been told that I'm the only person to have ever experienced this issue outside of when IE pushed their own in-house turbo past what 99% of people would experience. We'll see if the changes I make in the future remedy my situation.
What do you think the issue is with the stage 2 S5's lumpy power delivery? Downpipe+midpipes causing overboosting down low? Really liked the look of the dyno graph of that first car, that's a seriously fat powerband.
I honestly don't know. My car's dyno graph on IE's Stage 1 93 tune looked very different. I'm confident it has nothing to do with the downpipe and midpipes though.
It's honestly not really video worthy. Ethanol and cold weather don't mix. It's best to switch to a pump gas tune during the winter months to prevent that from happening.
If you live in a cold climate and you're in winter time, your car may have a hard time starting on cold starts while running high ethanol content blends.

No. As you can see in the video the car works just fine with the upgraded catted downpipe. He's simply waiting for Uni to drop their Stage 2 software so he can upgrade, that's all. Downpipes do VERY little for performance on this platform when using a stock turbo. Does your dyno account for hot vs cold? We have a dynojet but supposedly it corrects lamda & DA numbers Just curious if my stage 1 E85 file will make more dyno power when it finally gets colder here
How is the turbo lag with the TTE turbos? Looks like full torque around 3500rpm? Are you guys getting smoked by impatient soccer moms off the line if you aren’t paying attention?
When you first upgrade from a stock turbo it's extremely noticeable because the stock turbo spools so incredibly quickly and provides so much torque really down low. With that said you completely forget what the old driving experience was like after you have driven the car with the TTE710 for a couple weeks. You don't notice the lag at all once you have some seat time. All it requires is a little more throttle application than you needed with a stock turbo and you get WAY more power in return.
Hey Adam thanks for the great content. Quick question; what does the "plus" mean when saying, "stage 3 plus" Also, out of all your Audi's, which is/was your favorite? Thanks.
The + just refers to what IE has called their tunes. Stage 3 is just with a turbo upgrade, and a full bolt on setup. No fueling upgrades though. Then if you add a HPFP and 4bar MAP sensors you can run the Stage 3+ tunes. Then they max out the turbo with the Stage 3+ w/ Injectors tune which is what both the SQ5 and I are running. Can you explain why at the beginning of the video you said that the cold air and high density were good for the cars and they should make more power (which obviously makes sense) but when you're car dyno'd you said those same atmo conditions were causing a lack of power in your car? I'm not trying to be difficult, I'm honestly curious. Am I misunderstanding? EDIT: Oh, i had to watch a few more seconds. LOL, you said it's the valve float. Nevermind! The @Need4Built SQ5 is a monster. #sq5represent!
@Adam - This is probs a silly question but the torque figures shown. Are they at the wheels like the horsepower or are they crank? Eg yours is making around 700hp and 612lb or is it 700hp and 700lb? Reason I’m asking is that 034 for example quote a stage 2 93 at 476 crank hp and 576 torque but all the dyno results I see are never making more than 500ish torque? Sorry if this is a stupid question lol
Don't apologize! Not a dumb question at all. The figures you see on 034's website are more than likely their best case scenario dyno figures at the crank where as these numbers are at the wheels and have not been corrected for the great weather conditions we experienced. The IE Stage 2 93 car in this video would be roughly 458hp & 568lb/ft at the crank after adding roughly the drivetrain loss that I take into consideration. That would put it right in the place it is supposed to be according to IE's claimed 446hp & 548lb-ft. As for my car, it isn't making anywhere near 700hp as you can see by my results. I was making roughly 655hp & 675lb-ft on that day's runs.
Thanks for clearing that up in my little brain. It seems the US tunes work for higher torque whereas the UK tuners seem to go for HP. My S4 is Stage2 but only around 510lb torque at crank and you can really tell that in higher gears it’s lacking. Think it’s time to try the US tunes now 👍🏻 thanks again for replying so quickly. Love your videos
@@84collection I'm not sure where you read US tunes VS UK tunes make different power figures. That statement is incorrect. How are you determining how much torque your car makes?
No sorry, I may have worded that badly. I mean, the tuners over here for their stage 2 setups are going with 500hp and 516lb at the crank which is what mine is apparently running but whenever I look at the other tunes available like IE and 034 they tend to produce around 450-475hp and 550-580lb crank which I think will drive way better than mine purely because of the higher torque? I’d rather lose a few hp to gain that torque. Well at least I think it will be better?
@@84collection ah, I see. For daily driving that really high peak torque down low is great. With that said though I enjoy going as fast as possible and you need more horsepower for that. With that said I'm not sure I understand how the UK tuners are supposedly getting 50hp more out of a stock turbo than the US based tuners. I call bullsh$t. I'm not trying to be difficult, I'm honestly curious. Am I misunderstanding? EDIT: Oh, i had to watch a few more seconds. LOL, you said it's the valve float. Nevermind!
The @Need4Built SQ5 is a monster. #sq5represent!
Glad the extra few seconds paid off!
@@VancityAudi That's what she said?
Do you happen to have a link you could share with me showing those claims?
