@Joe Lindley I don't remember but I replied to a person. I obviously know that teen spirit isnt in drop d. Maybe I was referring to Something in the way.
Best online, free guitar teacher! No one comes close! I have tried probably 20 times to learn guitar. I never got anywhere until I found this guy. Thank you so much!
The real usefulness of learning this song is when you're at a guitar shop and find a tasty guitar, play this until the staff offer you a rebate to simply get rid of you.
i know Im asking randomly but does anyone know a way to log back into an Instagram account?? I stupidly lost the login password. I appreciate any help you can give me
love how much emphasis you put on the attitude of playing the song. they were punk rockers at heart so the technical details are secondary. thanks for the lesson!
This is an amazing tutorial, as always, Justin. It's so well explained and even showing the 'authentic' power chords! I know this video is 5 years old now but the song and lesson is timeless and I'm finally getting around to learning it. Such a great song and so much fun to play on the electric guitar. I looked at some other tutorials for the song (also excellent) but yours is my favourite. Thanks so much
FINALLY someone who can teach it right, but you missed a few bits that I think I hear. Like in the intro, when he first transitions from F to Bb, there is only one up-down on the mute, and then when he kicks in the distortion, he does not mute at all when he transitions from F to Bb
Yeah, he's right about Kurt not playing very technically difficult stuff but just nailing the feeling and the energy of it. Kurt Cobain was really the Miles Davis of his time.
JustinGuitar Songs hi Justin. how is the best way to start learning guitar ..like what chords are easiest and good beginner exercises.I have electric.. cheers and good health . .
Hi Justin, great video thanks! I am studying on your book (I am old fashion) and they are amazing with a clear structure and great to learn step by step having fun. One thing I noticed here for the strumming pattern, is that you have also 2 clicks (strums with stopped strings) after the 2nd (Bb) and 4th (Db) chords. So, in summary, for me, person that needs to see things written down to understand: D UD - 4clicks - DDU - 2clicks X 2
Paradise will only be beautiful with many people like Justin who likes to share his knowledge to others with such presistency and patience. Thanks Chief! Cheers from Indonesia.
Great Lesson!! I'm a blues fanatic but I have a 10yr old son who wants to start playing. He has a friend who played this song on the guitar we just game my son's on his birthday. So I have started showing him how to do this song with his tiny little hands. love the one string guitar solo. You did a great job explaining the importance of "Feel" in playing music. As John Lee Hooker Said "It ain't the notes it's how you hit em' "
Nice lesson Justin, it really shows that you did your homework on this song, the effects sounded very close to the original and the cover was treated to hear
I have learnt the way Justin is playing it here, and watched a bit of Nirvana footage and it seems to match basically by playing all the solo on one string, other people seem to play it in roughly the same spot on the fretboard across a few strings. Sounds the same but I'd rather learn the actual way Kurt played it, which appears to be the same as it is here.
Thanks Justin I like your teaching style. I'm returning to guitar having not picked up my strat for 15 years. I'm not a huge Nirvana fan but this is a classic song and just proves that you don't need to be technical to sound great. If it's simple and sounds great stick with it. Any chance of a breakdown of Saxon's 747 Strangers in the Night?
If you're returning it may benefit you to run through the 14 modular steps of the courses here: www.justinguitar.com/categories/beginner-guitar-lessons-grade-1 to fill any gaps, relearn what was lost etc. Cheers :) | close 2u | JustinGuitar Official Guide [ www.justinguitar.com/ ] & Moderator on JustinGuitar Forum [ justinguitarcommunity.com/index.php ]
Thanks Justin. I'm going to have fun with this one. Yes, it really is about the energy but kudos to Kurt Cobain for such interesting chord progressions. Also, for anyone who cares, Kurt used an Electro Harmonix Small Stone chorus pedal.
Hello Justin. I have boss Katana 100/212 MKII and Fender jaguar pf 3ts and I want to have clean tone like you in this video at the beginninng. Any tips please? What amp are you using here and whats settings

@Kurt Cobain drop d tuning bar 4 fret then open
@Joe Lindley I don't remember but I replied to a person. I obviously know that teen spirit isnt in drop d. Maybe I was referring to Something in the way.

Lol... Are you a fly fisherman and a guitarist too?
I remember u. I was the seller.
Even better just repeatedly play the open string intro to Nothing Else Matters.
If you're going to play those riffs, make sure you play them as awful as possible too. Just to really piss them off.
i know Im asking randomly but does anyone know a way to log back into an Instagram account??

I love that song. Thank you for showing it. I wish you could spend more time on the amp & pedals settings.
Been playing for 3 months now looking for that distortion sound. Did a mod on my Boss DS-1 and found it. Thanks Justin. Keep sending the help.
Im about to get a ds1 but im not sure how the settings go for teen spirit?
Amazing....
Although I'm too early into your course to take this head on, but sometimes it is just for the joy of seeing you perform
Dude, I got one for you.. *The Ballad of Curtis Loew* by Lynyrd Skynyrd.
Awesome lesson by the way. Love how close you get them to the originals.
Brilliant Brilliant Brilliant love it.
Great tutorial.
Hey mate can you do my friends by red hot chili peppers?
I second this ^
Dan I third this ^^
Yes, please!
Kurt actually used a electro harmonix small clone for a chorus pedal. The Boss ce-5 will get the job done though. Awesome video Justin!

Please do more grunge Justin!
I really want to hear some Alice In Chains, Pearl Jam and some Soundgarden.
You teach them so well.

Hi Justin, what's that black thing on the head stock for? I saw that already a couple of times, but have no idea what it's for...
It's to keep the strings from rattling and buzzing past the nut.
Thanks 👍🏼
iamswitters whats its name?
Love you, man❤️ thanks
you should teach guitar you're pretty good
he does
@@c2938a it’s a joke 😔
I love your Suhr, sir!
Can you do touch too much by ac/dc please
One day, for sure, but have a go at working it out using your ears!
Thanks Justin for the great lesson...and most importantly preserving the attitude element of the song. You did it justice.
Thanks Justin I like your teaching style. I'm returning to guitar having not picked up my strat for 15 years.

Haha, cool! Gotta learn this one!
You are the best! I was hoping that you'll do this one :D
Thanks so much this is amazing
Thanks for amazing. What is the black strap?
Great, thanks for this Justin, your the best. How about a Smiths cover!
Hi Justin! If you can please make a tutorial on this song again but the 1991/1992 live versions, I woould appreciate it! Thank you!
Thanks Justin. I'm going to have fun with this one. Yes, it really is about the energy but kudos to Kurt Cobain for such interesting chord progressions. Also, for anyone who cares, Kurt used an Electro Harmonix Small Stone chorus pedal.
That would be Small "Clone" chorus. The Small "Stone" is their phaser. Not nitpicking just want to make sure no one gets confused.
Justin you ought to do more Tool and Radiohead lessons
really good tutorial thanks what pedal do you use for your effects?
see the link in the description!
Sir, pls do a complete course on rock guitar !!!
Perfect! Also, just noticed the happy face on on the n in your name lol never played attention to that before
what's the amp settings? i like your tone(clean)
Hello Justin. I have boss Katana 100/212 MKII and Fender jaguar pf 3ts and I want to have clean tone like you in this video at the beginninng. Any tips please? What amp are you using here and whats settings
I'd love to see your teaching style applied to Tool's Schism.
How are the muted strummings done in Justin's Smells Like Teen Spirit video ? I mean the DUDU strums as chords are changed? I find Justin says at 3:55 to change chords while muting but not explained.
He slightly lifts up his left hand to mute them. You can play the DUDU part without the muting and it sounds almost as good
i think you should do a video of your guitar collection
That's so awesome. All I have is the solo down
Hi Justin. Could you please post any amp settings for this? By the way I use a Fender Mustang amp. Thanx
Nice playing mate! Any suggestions on drum settings for a trio pedal or drum machine type thing...?
Hey Justin is it possible to know the effects used in this video? Tks
