1:10 I’m a lifelong amateur drummer. Dave shows he is the god of rock drums. His groove in the first verse got me. But to maintain energy and pulse in simple moves its the true mastery. What he does here is pure raw drum mastery. So naked and revealing on such a big stage. All this while navigating through curts spontaneous madness. And. When drummers sound this good. The bass is doing it right. Had me in tears. Thank you for the music. All of you.

Every time I watch this live version of Smells Like Teen Spirit, it feels like stepping into a moment that changed music forever. Ever since Kurt said he didn't like Smells Like Teen Spirit, every Nirvana fan feels the need to agree with him and say it sucks because they have taken idol worship beyond the point where they can have their own opinions. Everyone was saying Smells Like Teen Spirit was a rip off of More Than A Feeling at the time. The last band Nirvana wanted to be compared to was a cheesefest like Boston. Novoselic even complained about Teen Spirit when Kurt came up with the riff, saying it was ridiculous.
I was there! One of the best nights of my life. I was front row and so close to faint because of the pressure of fans behind, but I manage to live through it. A night I will never forget.

Ray Daniel Ocampo, Pretty much trolling the audience in classic Kurt fashion. He hated the song, and chose to play it with those wrong notes on purpose.
I mean he could've said to Chris Novoselic "Look I know you like the look of a thunderbird but just... Jazz basses are better", that would be more helpful because he needs a pedal just to get the sound of a jazz bass

I think they did that because there was talk about the song being ripped off from the boston song. But ultimately a lot of songs are comparable in chord progression. Sheeran won that argument as well recently.

This video perfectly captures Nirvana's spirit as a band, not taking it too serious, but talking about heavy stuff lyrically. In a song unwittingly named after deodorant.
lol yes but this song in particular didnt really have a meaning. but it was meant to be a revolutionary sounding song
Its wasnt unwittingly written about a deodorant it was written about a deodorant
@@MsDudette21 Yeah exactly, it may have went huge but Kurt and the rest of the band hated that it overshadowed their more serious songs, they made the song as a joke.

@@darrenlamb5640 True, I just hope that most people that listen to it say, “woah this is cool, what other songs do they have? I’ll listen to this one.” Heart shaped box starts playing, that’s just my own favorite one lol
'More than a feeling' at the beginning was a great touch with the off beat guitar strumming 😍😍😍
They don't even know the lyrics, they were just singing jibberish! XDDD
Now THAT’S some old school trolling, heh
That's not quite accurate. Cobain actually agreed it WAS a similar riff.
Ellie Bean Boston was great, stfu

I was there! One of the best nights of my life. I was front row and so close to faint because of the pressure of fans behind, but I manage to live through it. A night I will never forget.
That’s insane.
I'd give alot to have been there

Miguel Figueroa music to my ears
Kurt maybe is drunk? haha dont know if this is a big deal to the audiences
Ray Daniel Ocampo nah he hates the song bc fans only listen to smells like teen spirit
Ray Daniel Ocampo, Pretty much trolling the audience in classic Kurt fashion. He hated the song, and chose to play it with those wrong notes on purpose.
😂😂
*That is unironically one of his best solos*
He makes its sound like shit in such an awesome way
*Can I join your band?
Kurt: what are you going to do? My band is complete?
*I can dance and headbang on stage?
Kurt:.... 🤔.... You're in the band!
You’re*
And that’s just how it went...
I mean he could've said to Chris Novoselic "Look I know you like the look of a thunderbird but just... Jazz basses are better", that would be more helpful because he needs a pedal just to get the sound of a jazz bass

Totally get where you are coming from paulo, although not the same as Nirvana it's why I love Pink Floyd.. there studio stuff was as close to perfection as you could get yet live they would play things differently, loads of improve and sometimes the imperfections sound even better than the studio stuff.
Nirvana were born to play live!

I think they did that because there was talk about the song being ripped off from the boston song.
But ultimately a lot of songs are comparable in chord progression. Sheeran won that argument as well recently.

How come the quality of the sound recording is better in 1992 than anything we hear in the past few years?

Not at all.. why? Other live concerts on youtube don't sound this good
It's better but harder to record in analogue. Simply put. Far more fine tuned. Plus not everything was compressed as it is these days.
Gary Martin dude, that's right. Also, back then, there wasn't any phone/camera to record as a crowd. And in '00 were bad mps for those commercial cameras. That's why a lot of concerts are in bad resolution/quality when we talk 'bout '00.
