You can fill in those 2 block spaces if the doors are down. That was an issue in A19 for me but always worked with doors down, recent base building reveals same solution.
I wish this video existed two years ago when I did my first setup like this. :) Alpha 18 electronics was squirrely my first time through, but I finally did it.
I was just dealing with this issue in my SP. I always forget to start at the power and go towards the object. I just assume it's all two way wires 😂 thank you Eko 👍
i didnt know since alpha 14 that u could use 2 cameras. the key is just like in the vid that the cameras need to be connected without any other connections in the middle. then you can use them!! i just learned and made me happy and eased
Depends on what you want, but basically the way it works is: OR Gate: power source -> Control Agent -> Control Agent -> Powered Object AND Gate: power source -> Control Agent -> Relay/Light -> Control Agent -> Powered Object Control agent could be switch, camera, pressure plate, tripwire.
Okay. Now you have to do a tutorial on lighting. I've never figured that shit out. I could be game stage 500 and I'm still lighting my base with torches.
I always to all my home bases in A16/17 and i learn it from Vedui although your video is educational as well. One thing i like to add is turrets activation for safety just in case there's zombie following me into the drawbridge.
Not sure if its been said or if you have figured it out since posting this video - But you can place blocks in the 2 outside areas if you lower the Bridge. Its like having a Drone or Body in your way and you try and place a Frame down (Even if where you are trying to place said blocks are in a legal place) - Seems part of the edge of the Bridge is in the way if its up. If you lower the Bridge and fill in those 2 blocks the Bridge will still work just fine.
If you want it to work among further distance between the sensors you have to use said sensors to relay between them , otherwise you'll have no energy as soon as the timer of the outer sensor runs out. Just put them somewhere out of sight to relay the current without noticing the sensor status.
This was helpful. The only thing I had a problem with was ur choice of timing for the d-bridge to close back, 30 seconds is way too long, you should only need about 5 seconds at the most for closure of the bridge.🤨 I'm thinking if there are nearby zeds around ur entry to ur base they can surely enter with a 30-sec delay of that bridge closing if they follow you hearing ur vehicle go in that way.🤔 Good vid.😊👍🏾
Absolutely a personal preference. 5 seconds is dangerous. The trick is that sometimes you run in and out of a base and 5 seconds has ended up in players getting launched outside :) In our last community server we used 15 seconds for a while and ended up bumping it to 30 seconds for this reason.
The switch can help in this case. No matter how long the timer is you can always use it as an emergency shutdown. I made a habit to double tap it when I get in so the doors close and then the switch is on again so I can exit normally next time (note that even if the timer has not run out and you open the switch again the doors will NOT open so it's safe to double tap).
I tend to put my cameras facing sideways across the bridge so they don't trigger unless I'm driving or walking right up to my entrance. I usually find 8-10 seconds is plenty of time to get a vehicle across the bridge before closing it, depending on how smooth your terrain is and how much room you've left yourself to maneuver.
Yeah - I use the sideways trick for the inside of the base -- it's the entering that I like it to face out. I just end up getting launched when I do short durations :)
bro, your content is very good and if you like challenges I will recommend you to try to make an elevator for both cars or for the character in the 7DTD 😅👍🏽👊🏽💙
I've been chewing on that for day and now wondering if you could somehow use 2 drawbridges with a car right in the middle to see if you could launch it straight up :)
Any idea how to make this work powered in reverser? So I've setup a base underground and I have the drawbridge in place. I want it to go UP to "open" the hole in the ground and I want it to go DOWN to "close" back over the hole in the ground. It works but no matter what order i rig the sensors it acts "normal" vs acting like I want it to.
There isn't an easy way to do this ... I think Jawoodle figured out a SUPER janky way to do it a year or so back ... but it leveraged some really weird mechanics and was really hard to setup.
Thanks for these tutorials, would love a castle tutorial build I,d send some dollar 🎉🎉, all the best anyway 7days on console let's go, then your be busy
Castles are tricky just due to the time investment to do a tutorial ... I have 2 castles for download on my Patreon after a ton of people asked for them! I can't wait for console to bring everyone together!
i was thinking it would be good to have drawbridges also for horde night bases.. now that some zombies are attacking blocks more even with a path... it would be cool to have 2-4 pathways for zombies, that you can direct zombies to if one starts getting too damaged.. just raise that drawbridge & lower another one
Funny you mention that - I have two bases that work in that fashion. Will be putting out a video on my community server base which uses that mechanism.
I reloaded an old game to see how I did it before and I have a hot wire running from camera 1 to camera 2 (across the water) then to bridge and it works from either side. I try replicating that exactly in this new game and no matter what try it will only open from 1 side or the other
One trick that I forgot to mention in the vid is around this -- if you place some frame shapes in the middle of where you are placing it ... you can place it much easier. Just remove them after.
Doesnt work for me? Im going power source > switch > relay > exterior camera > relay > interior camera > relay > bridge. It works from the outside, but not the inside. Any ideas?
THANK GOD for this comment. It was driving me mad why this vid works whilst mine with a relay doesn’t. I still maintain that it should work either way but it m grateful it does!
If you are wanting it to work automated with vehicles, this is the only way. If you want to walk in you can use trigger plates but they are not activated by vehicles. If you wanted to have it manual you could have a switch in the outside so the circuit would be power source -> switch inside -> switch outside -> drawbridge
I've tried everything from opening it ... to removing the bridge and placing those blocks. Then answer I did on the community server base was to add a façade over the top so you don't see the gap.
Chris - you only need one sensor technically, but then the drawbridge will only open from one side. The idea of doubling up the sensors is so that it can be opened from either side.
I want to build a bridge like you, the ramp goes up, how can I build it? I can make the door go up and down, but the slope is quite difficult for me to do. What is the name of the wedge block you used to build the slope?
i tried generator > switch > cam >cam > bridge , then i tried generator > switch> bridge but am not able to connect to the drawbridge on a21 anyone experience this?
So in both of those cases ... does the bridge just not show as a viable option? are you perhaps out of range ... ie the cord from the prior connection will show red (or rather the wire will show red)
My recommendation is to go into a test world and turn on dev mod and creative and practice placing it. Do you have a straight line to bedrock under where you are placing it for support? That's the key.
I personally prefer to use pressure plates instead of cameras on the inside part. This prevents the annoying opening and closing of the doors when the camera sees you running around your base.
