Since we don’t have those Japanese beans I used kidney beans and I gotta say it tastes exactly like the red bean paste in the mochi that I often buy in Zürich

In Somalia we cook the beans for about 30 minutes without opening the lid and it cooks really well and also wash before hand we don’t leave it overnight (but some people might for ice cream or filling) also if you add Somali sesame oil and sugar it would taste so good 😊
I think the red bean paste is interesting to include in desserts. I've never tried it but I ordered some mochi (different kinds) and can't wait to get it in the mail.
Stuck at home in quarantine has got me making cooking/baking goals again! My goal this time is red bean mochi! Luckily I watched the video right now so I can soak the beans instead of watching it tomorrow morning!
@@lizzetcastro73 Lizett, it seemed strange to me at first also, but Red Bean Paste Buns are dee-lish! Nothing but beans would really have the right texture for it either..I am not Oriental but love the food.. Yay for Boston's Chinatown Dim Sum on Saturday!
I don't have adzuki beans where I live so I made mine with regular beans but the result is just like yours. I made dorayaki with it and they are delicious! Thank you very much!!!!!!!
You ground the beans is it good to ground the beans and make a paste please tell wanaa know because it takes alot of time to chew the beans properly what do u suggest
I went on to make a paste and mixed it in my blender. As it was to thick, I added water to enable the bender to mix, and got a nice paste t the end. Alas it is too soft/wet and cannot be made into a ball in order to make sesame mochi because one has to fill the glutiinous rice ball with the paste. Can anyone tell me how to dry out my paste??
I found similar ones in my place. It’s like kidney beans in smaller size. It’s similar to adzuki but am not sure it’s adzuki or not. It looks alike but not sure
What you are describing, if they are shaped like Kidney Beans but smaller, sounds like Small Red Beans. Adzuki beans have a unique shape and a very unique flavor. She said you could use other types of beans and make it work, but they will not have quite the same taste as Adzukis. ATB
i like sweets but trying to stay away from too sweet obviously. what do you recommend that is super easy and i can take care of my sugar cravings somewhat? thanks
do i need the runny consistency or the more dough-ey consistency to make a dorayaki? I never tried a dorayaki so im not quiet sure which consistency the sweetened red beans need to be at xD
Can someone explain how red beans became a dessert food in Asian areas? Is it a texture thing? I tried looking it up but I only really got recipes for the paste it self.

They are haricot beans
So you telling me any red beans do the trick? I'm used to the salty flavor of beans so I fear for a sour results
@@marior.9464 I think it's best to use haricot / adzuki beans

Great thanks! Simple and sweet.
it will be more solid because the water will get cold too. if there is less water in the paste, the texture is more solid as well ;)

I saw a lovely film called An recently from 2012. It showed the making of this but it was a lot longer. They were making chunky paste for Doriyaki.
I have always wondered about that recipe since watching that movie. I longed to taste the Doriyaki she made.
Thank you so much for recipe ... 👍

2:35 thats one of the most beautiful still shots Ive seen

So delighted & delicious girl.. Thanks
So good. Thanks

Do you know an onigiri press or method you recommend? I want to use adzuki paste for those. Thanks for tutorial!
I've tried making this using another recipe but it ended up like a dried dough. Still delicious but I wanted the paste. Will definitely try this
Thank you 👍
Use pressure cooker, save time, and energy.
Thank you for the recipe
Great suggestion!
The red beans seems to match the color of your nail polish.🙂🙂
How long can it keep?
you can also add flour to make it thicker
I'm going to use it as a filling for mochi😋
Can you freeze what you don't need?
I never tried red bean paste, but I love mochi

May I know how Long can the paste keep in refrigerator? Has to keep in freezer ? Thanks

Great recipe. New subbie here. Thanks 🙏🏼
Is it only adzuki red bean can use to make this?
Thank you for this video ... very helpful. Clear and concise.
Can more than one batch be made and then frozen ... since it takes so long to make?
Yes, you can make the paste and freeze it. It stores well in the freezer for a couple months.
Lovely..
can we use honey instead of sugar ?
This is the best
So, is this what is translated as been jam? At liest they do translate it into our language like that.

We do the same in India but instead with other lentils (toor dal) and cook it by stuffing in different types doughs .
Can i make same paste from cant red beans ?

Yes!
Very cool I can’t wait to try this, do you know if it freezes and reanimates well?
I haven’t tried freezing it since it usually gets eaten up pretty quickly! I do think it would freeze and thaw nicely though, with a little stir.
Do You know if Libbys or Goya brand sell this type of beans ?
How do I seperate the skin from the beans?
i like sweets but trying to stay away from too sweet obviously. what do you recommend that is super easy and i can take care of my sugar cravings somewhat? thanks
I just plan to use less sugar. No idea what Stevia would do to the flavor..
Can you used canned kidney beans?
1 to 2 hours is it necessary
It's called red bean paste but for some reason I thought it didn't have any bean in it.
Wdym? Those red things are beans
Did you watch the video my dude?
Kautar Rghioui he said she thought dummy
can i use this for korean noodles? (red bean noodles or jjang idk how to say it)
Hi Saha, this recipe is for the sweet red bean paste. The black bean sauce for Korean noodles is different.
do i need the runny consistency or the more dough-ey consistency to make a dorayaki? I never tried a dorayaki so im not quiet sure which consistency the sweetened red beans need to be at xD
You definitely need it to be more like the doughy consistency to sandwich it between the cakes. Happy cooking! :)
MyFoodFix thank you so much 😊
thank u very much :) now i can make dorayaki!
mine is a lot more white then urs when i blended / mashed it does that mean it is overcooked or undercooked
nvm it darkened when i added sugar/cooked it:) still not as dark as urs tho
Depending on how thick you want the consistency, you might want to cook it longer to make it darker and more solid. :)
MyFoodFix thx:)
