I've used water on previous cars and it worked okay, but i did notice the clay would start to drag a lot more quickly. Even ONR (which runs pennies for a 32-oz spray bottle) seems to prevent that a lot better than water alone.
Plumbers putty has linseed oil in it. Is there a film from rubbing it on the paint. I'm just curious about rubbing an oil base product on the car and any residue affect on clear coat.
Loved this video and your "thinking outside the box" theme. I will try using the Armorall as you suggest. But I have one suggestion, maybe on future vids such as this, don't use a white car. We really can't witness what each product is doing, or not doing.
@@92F0XBody But they would be able to see how the product being touted sits on the surface. Difficult to see the clinging properties of white foam on a white vehicle.
Thanks Scott! I'm a pro detailer in the Montreal area and was using ONR Wash and (Carnuba) Wax as a lubricant along with a Nanoskin "clay bar" foam pad scrubbier (lasts for literallyDOZENS of applications BTW and can be washed if dropped UNLIKE a clay bar : ) with absolutely fabulous results but definitely will use the Armor All Spray Wash - looks like a great idea! Thanks again and happy detailing !
Scott its been 3 years since this video. I know you have your own product line now. Have you incorporated any of this advice into your own product line? Would love to know if you have your own foaming clay lube....or a window cleaner wth the ability to fill im the glass? Love the videos, please keep em coming
IMO ONR can't be beat. You can make 64 32OZ bottles with one 32 OZ bottle of ONR. And ONR Is very versatile. I bet you'd end up using one of those cans per one or two vehicles depending on how much contamination Is on the paint. That's a huge waste of money when you compare the cost. I can use a pump sprayer so I don't pull the trigger constantly. It's a no brainer.
Sounds like just what I need and you convinced me to give it a try. Unfortunately, it appears to be discontinued. I only found it at napa online for ship to store, but I half expect to be told it is 'out of stock'; I'll find out in a few days. Any alternative you wish to recommend?
This video is now 7 years old, so I do not see it on Amazon. I wonder what people are using now that is still a foam and doesn't drip off and also doesn't cost a fortune?
Scott. When I saw your video using this product on engine bay cleaning, I immediately ran into Wally World and bought me 2 cans. I have used it to clean my engine bay, remove scum from the underside of the hood, clean door jams, clean door trim/rubber, clean seat surfaces, clean the jams of the rear lift gate, clean rubber seals...you name it. Now I can use it as a lube. We are blessed to have an out of the box critical thinker on this world! Thanks!
reaches into cupboard get my shaving foam out wow can't believe it works like magic, then thought fk this shit reached into cupboard got a 6000 trizact disc out with soapy water and never used clay again
best ever is to use Bilt Hamber clay fr UK they have their own clay mine ! avail in S , M, H grades it is so pure they say and it is TRUE ! you can use just plain water ! try it let me know what you think ? and update your video w/an addendum ? thx Jack
Hey pal John from Carefree Auto Detailing in LongIsland I agree if it was optimum or CarPro it wld fly off the shelves. The ppl that will poo poo this are the same ones that will scream bloody murder at using Costco towels for detailing. They are 80/20 and the plastic in a Nissan and the plastic in a viper doesn't know the difference lol. At 44 cents per towel best value out there. I'm gonna give this a try think of all the garbage we try that doesn't work that costs more. Keep on keeping on brother and if you make it back to the island let me know kk
Nice idea..i love washing in the drizzle, i have no shade, so its 6am to beat the sun or not washing at all. Not gonna clay or wax every time u wash anyway
That’s awesome. The very reason why I hate Armor All products is because it sticks and leaves behind a film... but that’s exactly what makes it a PERFECT clay lube! Great thinking!
A squirt of DAWN and the rest water in a 32 oz bottle. You have to wash it again anyway after claying. 29 years of detailing. I used to use Auto Magic #49 Body Shine until I learned about Dawn and water. Lubes and cuts grease and grime.
Dude, your rock! I have listened to Michael Savage on talk radio for years, and his accent and direct manner of speaking is quite unique to NYC. IF you're NOT from there, I will use Blu-Tac to clay my 1983 Chevrolet Caprice with this Armoral. (Hint: IMA do it anyway...)
Newb here. Can you clay a car too much where it will start to remove paint? I live under the flight path in San Diego. So for 1.5 million I have to continuously hit the pause button while watching TV and always have sticky residue on my car from jet fuel. Cool.
The problem with this method is that the lube is important but you only need enough lubrication to not cause any marring on the paint, too much lube and the clay bar is just gliding over the contaminants and not grabbing on to them. That can will act as a shield and not pic them up.
As always Scott looking for quick and innovative ideas to help the pro as well as novice !!!!!!! That's why your the Best Buddy you actually use your head not just for putting on a cap. Great job Scott !!!!!!! Love it , keep preaching to the choir my man that's the way to go saving time is the name of the game as well as getting great results!!!!!!!!! Les from Louisiana.
Scott, have you ever used Garry Dean's Infinite use Detail Juice that Junkman2000 recommends? Just curious if you have any input there. It's difficult sometimes with so many different recommendations going around from multiple different people that seem to know what they're doing.
John 3:36 (KJV) He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.
same, currently working at a dealership and cleaning freaking 6 cars a day and only making $150. this is with 10 hours of work too.on Overtimes I get extra $200 a day but fuck it gets taxed like crazy. Love to find a way to do only 3 to 4 cars a day and make aleast 300 to 500 a day. Even $700 a week i'm happy at the beginning. fucking canada and its taxes.
Really? Don't quit your Full time Day Job..with a Pension and come wintertime? then what..? I have my Detail guy do his custsomer cars In his 2 Car Garage and heated in Winter up here in Wisconsin and He gives me a Loan car, a Decent SUV to use for work or for the wife to swap cars with.. He only charges $250 the 1st time and then? $200 thereaftere he's got it clean.. and He finishes his interior jobs with 30 Min of a Ozone Gen ..
Appreciate the recommendation. Feedback: bro, you talk too much, like way too much. Show the product more,. This video comes off more of a flex of what you know and showing off that "you think you no more than everyone" attitude .
This might be great for a pro, but for us DIY guys that don't clay every week, this is gonna be a potential headache. I clay my car only when its absolutely necessary, which ends up being every 1-3 years, usuallu closer to the 2/3 year period. My clay bars will get destroyed sitting around by this wash product before I ever have the chance to use them again. I don't use cheap clay, so getting 1 car out of a $25 bar of clay, just so I can save a few dollars on the clay lube makes no sense to me.
AHH! I have a 1978 Jeep with oxidized paint and will us Armorall spray now and the clay. I was wondering what I can use instead of a $12 bottle of 'more clay MFG lube'. Thx
Dear Scott, I’ve said some wrong things against you and your products and your abilities. I just want to publicly apologize to you and your viewers and subscribers. I humble myself in shame and will subscribe and support your youtube channel. Please forgive me, I’m Sorry.
God damn, we think alot alike!! I've always felt the exact same way about traditional clay lubes. So I've been using Ammo Frothe as my clay lube for a long time. Since it's release. That ArmorAll waterless wash is literally Frothe in a can. Frothe has maybe a touch more lubrication. Frothe is one of the only Ammo products that is priced right. It's super concentrated so one bottle lasts forever. It's cheaper than buying the ArmorAll cans.
Great explanation. Terrible example: Should have used a different color car. Can’t see anything with that color and the camera angle. But, I’ll use that Armor All Ultra Shine next time I clay.
You are right about the lube. I use like half a bottle of lube everytime I clay my car from the run off. I hate it and will try the Armor All the next time. I have always used the Blue Magic Bar by the way. I think it's the best. Thanks for making this video as all your others. Your the best.
Good info to know. I like Malco quick retailers. One of them that is purple in color actually lifts the contaminants up, so the clay bar to pick it up on a pass.
Honestly, if you got to the point directly, there would be a lot more adoption. Your long lecture is really not attractive. We follow you and trust your opinions. The last video took you over 30 minutes to express an alternative.
Scott ive been seeing alot of videos of people making their own spray wax and detailer using concentrate products. Can you make s video on your opinion on that topic?
we used to live near railroad tracks and i discovered that using that meguiars ultimate all wheels cleaner is kinda slimy and stays in place really well for a clay lube, also really helped get that metal fall out lose.
In my experience and belief, surely it's better to have the clay lube running off the car as by doing this it's physically taking loose contaminates away from the paint. I don't want them stuck to the clay bar or stuck into the sprayed on lube. It's the same principal as snow foam, you don't want it to just sit on the paint, you want it to dwell and flow off so it takes the crap away with it. I simply use a capful of car shampoo in a spray bottle and this is a perfect lubricant for the clay bar, works first time every time....
When I'm detailing and I use clay I go over the paint to see if it needs to be polished or just waxed. Would you want to use this prior to polishing if you are trying to get to bare clear? Would it ruin a polishing pad?
It seems like an awesome lube, but I’ve been watching tons of your videos and it seems really important to get that stuff off before you use cutting compound, etc or it will clog.
skip ahead to 5:20 if you just want the information, not the five minutes of preamble.
You're the real hero..........
Vandal
Thanks
You are right
Bla bla bla
😎 thanks, added to my shopping cart 😍
Thanks!
Haha I love Scotty and everything he does but we all know he can be a bit long winded.
Scott I can't c the foam on the car but I definitely believe you.
Tks!
What do you think of mothers synthetic clay vs the real clay bar. Is there a big diff
Great tip, thanks!
hello scott. what is your opinion on just using water when you clay. i have heard people say you can do that. thanks for the great tips
I've used water on previous cars and it worked okay, but i did notice the clay would start to drag a lot more quickly. Even ONR (which runs pennies for a 32-oz spray bottle) seems to prevent that a lot better than water alone.
what do you use as lubricant for clay barring?
I like foam ideal, maybe gel would be another route too
Plumbers putty does the same thing as clay bar and is $2 at the hardware store {side tip}
Plumbers putty has linseed oil in it. Is there a film from rubbing it on the paint. I'm just curious about rubbing an oil base product on the car and any residue affect on clear coat.
Philip Holman if ur cars an old woodie some linseed oil wouldn’t be to bad of an idea as for a standard car no go
In Martinique, you can't find this stuff
Yep and Pledge is the best polish!
is this howard stern? lol
Dammit, you beat me to it..lol
lol..... i just asked him the same question...he does sound like howard...lol
I listen to stern obsessively everyday for hours and I didn’t get that.
Hey now!
No its Ray Ramond.
Scott, the product doesn't seem to be available or is discontinued. Do you have a second recommendation?
Loved this video and your "thinking outside the box" theme. I will try using the Armorall as you suggest. But I have one suggestion, maybe on future vids such as this, don't use a white car. We really can't witness what each product is doing, or not doing.
yes, maybe a chrimson red tricoat
Ditto on the White Car or even Lite Silver, etc.. Use a Black or Dark Gray
Would you guys be able to see any bonded contaminates being removed? It doesn’t matter what color the car is
@@92F0XBody But they would be able to see how the product being touted sits on the surface. Difficult to see the clinging properties of white foam on a white vehicle.
Maxx61 true and i understand that. But trust him and try it out 😊 It works incredibly well. For a few bucks it’s well worth it.

Should of used a Darker Paint Guy! Like Red or Black..can't see the foam or Water for that matter
the more that runs off, the more you use. the more you use, the more you buy.they are thinking inside the cash box.
DP you're the best. Been searching for the right clay lube-just found it! You are the ALEXANDER HAMILTON of car detailers. THANKS!
Yuck

Hey have they changed the name of the product? They do not sell armor All ultra shine spray wash foam anywhere anymore. 🆘
Dude just clay after you wash the car with soapy water it’s free and works perfect then dry and buff.
Oh my god thank you for this comment 2 years ago I'm halfway through my car spent my last 25 bucks on a kit and ran out of lube
The soapy water won't stick like Ultra shine
Lmaooo after 6:00 "HOW LONG U PLAN KEEPING THIS" scott u the man.

Holy crap. What crap. After 26 years of working on cars you can't show us these products on a darker vehicle? You chose white ??
“Clay lube” and the idea of needing a dedicated product for clay lube is a scam being played on detailers who can’t think outside the box.

The run off is beneficial. You want to remove contamination. Not have it stay on paint.
Thanks for your vids.

Great explanation. Terrible example: Should have used a different color car. Can’t see anything with that color and the camera angle. But, I’ll use that Armor All Ultra Shine next time I clay.
Seven and a half minutes to make a one-minute point.
Or six seconds: "Try ArmorAll spraywash as a panel lube when you claybar your car."
Wow.
You are right about the lube. I use like half a bottle of lube everytime I clay my car from the run off. I hate it and will try the Armor All the next time. I have always used the Blue Magic Bar by the way. I think it's the best. Thanks for making this video as all your others. Your the best.

After amrmoral saw this video they doubled the price hahahhaha.
Wonder lube by detail.king is the best clay lube you can use
I use car soap and water the clay starts to break down but when it drys its fine i got 2 cars and a truck and still have the bar!!
Waiting for the Sham Wow commercial.....,.SPEED SHINE....DAMN IT.. Griot's Garage
The whole point of making clay lubes is to save money. It's funny to me how people refer to something else that cost 10 bucks or more a bottle. 🤣
Scott ive been seeing alot of videos of people making their own spray wax and detailer using concentrate products. Can you make s video on your opinion on that topic?
I was looking for a alternative wet sanding lubricant. Use this, or recommendations? Trying not to use dish soap.
Have you ever tried plumbers putty? Softer then clay bar, but some people swear by it. Less chance of paint marks
Hey Scott just spent the day claying and polishing my Lexus! Thanks for all your help!
Good job sir...Thank you
we used to live near railroad tracks and i discovered that using that meguiars ultimate all wheels cleaner is kinda slimy and stays in place really well for a clay lube, also really helped get that metal fall out lose.
I cannot find that anywhere, its all ultra shine spray wax, I can't find spray wash. Any recommendations
Using a quick detailer or spray wax is like brushing your teeth with bottled water.. piss away $$$
Scott sounds like the guy I tell myself every year I’m not going to buy anything from at the state fair...
I’ll take a case
Really like and respect your common sense on work. To many pushing products these days.
Appreciate the clear and simple logic behind this tip. You’re the man Scott!
Scott you should know why they don’t want to make a non drip clay lube. They want it to run off the car so you have to purchase more.
Hi Scott. Clay bar vs clay block? Any experience on that.
I just use a soapy bucket of water, apply it to the panel with a wash mitt and clay away! Then just rinse off.
Mr Pie your analysis would be true of clay mitts though! As they don’t absorb like clay bars
When I'm detailing and I use clay I go over the paint to see if it needs to be polished or just waxed. Would you want to use this prior to polishing if you are trying to get to bare clear? Would it ruin a polishing pad?
why not put ONR in a IK foam pump bottle, then you have onr in foam form clinging to the panel
You tube likes to suggest a lot of old videos to me. Does your opinion of this product still hold in 2022?
What about the bathroom quality foamy tub bubble scrubbies? Does that have enough lubricity?
Don't see this product offered by Arbor all, maybe discontinued.
Cool….I can use rinse-less wash in a foamer. GREAT idea 😃
It seems like an awesome lube, but I’ve been watching tons of your videos and it seems really important to get that stuff off before you use cutting compound, etc or it will clog.
Paint prep !
Clay bars are a waste of time and $. $ for you when someone sucks up to your bull crap.
Apperently they stopped making this product i cant find it anywhere.
6:00 I want a video on how you take that label off that can.🤓
Alot of armor all products i have bought were made in japan good stuff armor all
Just by plumber putty it works great and cost a tenth of the price.
Thank you Can’t I just use car soap ?
Scott...If you want a even cheaper clay lube that clings to the surface try out Carpro Ech2o . Its good even at 1:200 ratio.
Does it leave residue?
I mean can it interfere with coatings?
Maybe next time demonstrate a product on a vehicle that isn't white.
the technology change alot of pro detailers useing the clay mitt or sponge now clay barr is old school they say i still like it better myself
