It sounds like they initially acted on false information or mistaken identity (give benefit of doubt); but when they found no evidence, instead of just dropping it and apologising, they doubled down and added every charge they could think of to justify their continued harrassment, including falsely claiming he's in the country illegally.

This happens more often, and in more places, than we could possibly realize. I met a woman who was sentenced to prison after a false tip to police. While the "tip" was groundless, the woman was convicted of using money from one of her businesses to pay the bills of another business she owned.

No it didn't. racisme exacerbate when the people you discriminated against do better than you.
But for racism to reality grow you need to have and keep that groupe/race/gender/ whatever.. under you socially, that way you can sell the narrative that you are better than them.
You don't born a racist the environment you grow with make you one. Most of the time this environment is poverty and hopelessness. When you are there you need someone to blame. It either a group weaker than you or the government.
The problem start when a political party fuel this fear or rage against said group in order to gain the power and the government.

Happens in the USA all the time, too. And if a case goes to trial, and the person is convicted and sentenced to years or life in prison or the death penalty, they may be found innocent years later, and eventually released. They may even get some kind of settlement from the state, depending on the state. but They almost never get an apology. And what’s worse, the prosecutors, almost without fail, claim that they still believe they got the right person. I would like all of those prosecutors to go through what the man in this video went through.

Duncan I understood wazza mc’s comment just fine. And by the way, I’ve had ADHD almost my whole life. But I managed to graduate from college, anyway. Incidentally, ADHD is NOT a learning disability. The last D stands for “disorder”, asshole. But it doesn’t matter, because all your comments here are just personal attacks. Not one mention of the issue in the video. So you don’t like people with learning disabilities, although I think wazza mc was kidding. And you trashed me because I made comparisons to the US justice system, which is obviously far from perfect and full of discrimination and double standards at every stage, and everybody knows it. Which leads me to believe that you are a bigoted little troll. And a willfully ignorant, blind nationalist who probably thinks that the de facto apartheid perpetuated in the US, even today, is a fine idea.

Disagree to a point, uk police will do the least work humanly possible - I should know, I work with a lot of them. They also don't want to be raiding a black guys house, even if he's clearly guilty without lots and lots of evidence. Generally speaking 30 pieces of evidence is required for a warrant. Obviously the accuser(s) have gone to town, and are racist/jealous of a hardworking individual, so they say they saw the guy with a gun. There you go, plenty of 'evidence' and a witness willing to go to court over allegedly seeing a gun, this allows a 'covert' operation and a warrant. I wouldn't be surprised if the cops just followed him for a few days prior to the warrant - but I can't officially comment on this, because every force does it differently. Anyway, they enter said property and find no gun. Well conveniently the accuser has said he's a drug dealer, so if you find cash and no drugs, that's money laundering. I've been apart of many warrants that have disappointingly found nothing, despite the people being ex-con, known dealers etc, we just try again in the future. All races and walks of life. Also arresting him for ML allows the police to get more resources to investigate this properly, before the warrant it's basically just words albeit a lot of words, but after a warrant they can do this properly. If the police were a lot better funded, they could investigate properly before a warrant, and use the warrant to seize known items, and arrest, rather than using it in hopes of getting something. And yes, this was just me having a go at the Gov for lack of funding.

What I would suggest that the Detective Constable who stands in front of a Judge and on oath states he believes he can provide the evidence to convict the accused in order to get him remanded in custody, but fails to get the conviction should do the same time in prison that the lawfully proved innocent man did while awaiting trial.
I know for a fact that many cops haven't a clue that they can provide the evidence to convict but just say the usual old tosh to get the accused put on remand and out of circulation for a while.

im a 55 year old white male and have lived my life the way i wanted to. i have been arrested more times than i can remember because of choices i made. im not ashamed of it, it was just me at the time and i have grown up and out of that kind of behaviour. however, dale semper never chose that life but instead got his head down and made something of himself. he was respected in his field of work, certainly by those above him. he worked hard to get to where he was able to afford the luxury and spent his money wisely and on what he wanted. but then for the met to come into his life and almost completely ruin it, that goes beyond words. they refused to listen to an innocent person and instead dragged him through the mud as well as his close family. yet at NO TIME have they ever apologised.
he was completely innocent, they likely knew that within the first month but carried on as if the truth didnt matter. the question is, WHY. and i think the answer is very simple. they refused to believe they were wrong. having caused such an upheaval right from the off, they doubled down by closing off any source of funding available to him, having him suspended from his job and continuing to harass this man and his family because they could. because dale semper was black (in their words) he couldnt afford the lifestyle he had so it was obvious that he was dealing in drugs! in all honesty, i hope he sues them into the ground and gets whatever he can. he deserves it after the way he has been treated for over 2 years. all i have left to say is "good luck dale semper."

@Aiden mmm -What’s there to like, fool? They tried to destroy him for no apparent reason and you have the audacity to talk? Racism is a disease and a malignant tumor that ought to be eradicated. Jeez

That’s what I think I think that somebody that he works with did this to him because they’re jealous, of what he had, his car and he was doing well and somebody wanted make sure that he has pain in his life. That happened to my son when he was working at a fast food place here, his restaurant was the third in the state and his bosses boss, was jealous and they found out how to get rid of him and they did. It’s hard being black in America and this is 2020!

It doesn't matter what they try and do. Once you lose a person's trust, they way they feel about you is never the same. And the fact that his job took his title after he was proven innocent is eve3n worse. They had absolutelly no faith knowing he was financially able to afford the things he had. Way to have your employee's back SMH
