Before lawsuit, Detroit police sgt. given ‘last chance’ after racist rant, domestic abuse

- A Detroit police sergeant now facing a $10 million wrongful arrest lawsuit was nearly fired in 2020 after the department concluded he assaulted his girlfriend and repeatedly called her the n-word.
61 citizen complaints, drunk driving, wrecking a police cruiser and leaving the scene to avoid drug and alcohol testing. Maybe the department and police union need to be sued for allowing a known drunk and abuser to remain on the police force and putting innocent citizens at risk.
Drunk and abuser are words that can be used to describe most cops. They are number 1 at domestic abuse.
I agree. I think every single employer across the country should be sued for employing a known drug addict, child abuser, felon.

The DOJ just released a report of a 2-year investigation into the Minneapolis PD, confirmed what everyone already knew but failed to suggest stiffer penalties or enhanced jail sentences for officers continuing to engage in this behavior!
That's the tax paying citizens job to make that happen. Can't expect the police to change unless you force them to change.
@@stoneloc8979 That's true. But it is also true that prosecutors (and their own investigators) need to force them to change by looking into and prosecuting crimes.
@@MesoCarib Prosecutor's don't have no other authority over the police unless the cop is being indicted. If citizens are complaining about the cops the cops are put under review and those complaints go to a arbitration judge who makes the call on if internal affairs should get involved. Now a prosecutor can let a cop off who's been indicated over a crime just like how Fannie the mammie Willis did for the cop that shot Rayshard Brooks and she'll never be forgiven for that but other than that a cop has to be indicted first because citizens complaints and a few mess up's aren't enough to get the job done.

So two DUI crashes weren’t enough to terminate his employment. Termination was only ‘considered’ when his police officer girlfriend accused him of assault. 🙄
Once again,"We have investigated ourselves and found ourselves innocent of all charges". Unbelievably this officer was still employed after all the complaints. The Department of Domestic Terrorists is also liable having held this guy after all the complaints the Department received.
It's clear the entirety of the Detroit PD needs investigated. This dude won't be the only one.
Pro tip. If the police have your photo on their website alleging you're a criminal, it's time to get a lawyer. Do NOT go to the station and argue that you're innocent.
That’s exactly what a honest person would do, this lady just didn’t think the situation would end with her going to jail, she 😊probably thought if I tell the truth , and explain what happen these honorable,fair-minded police will certainly believe me…
@@tonyortiz1890lts not a smart thing to do they need to have concrete evidence that you're the suspect
A last chance agreement?? 🤔 The system is a joke
Keeping him employed and out of jail is an insult to us all, and the lawsuits don't hurt the cops because it is tax dollars.
I was a juror in her case and we were looking at the prosecution after their opening statement like🤷🏿♀️, but when her attorney got to redirect and question the card owner and the so-called investigator looked/was terribly incompetent and the judge thru it out! Give her the💰!
Yeah yeah whatever woman
@@josel6360who lies about jury duty you weirdo😂😂just because shit doesn't happen to you does not mean others aren't telling the truth especially about JURY DUTY
Unbelievable that this guy was still on the force. Totally proves how corrupt the Detroit Police Department is.
As a law enforcement officer having an accident with a blood alcohol level of over 2.5 the legal limit is grounds for AUTOMATIC SACKING & BARRING OF HOLDING A POSITION OF AUTHORITY. Having another accident while on duty should result in automatic imprisonment.
Negligent hiring and retention.
The city should be held liable for knowingly allowing that idiot to remain a cop.
This officer attempting to use his recovery from addiction as sympathy for all his evil doings is sickening. Everyone has issues and troubles in their lives, yet they don't assault and abuse innocent people unabashedly! I blame the city of Detroit for allowing this menace to be in a position of power over citizens. Clearly there's a personality defect or flaw in his character and he isn't capable of performing his duties. I am so tired of seeing these stories and yet they are more and more prevalent today than ever before!!!
Yeah it is sickening. Just because you're in recovery doesn't mean you don't have to pay for your crimes bro. Plenty of us got sober after fcking up but we all had to pay. Weather jail, community service, prison, fines up the ass. Losing your license etc...
And we know damn well he dis not write that. Probably some cop lawyer from their corrupt police unions gang.
They probably were laughing writing that too, they have done that so many times...
I know from experience that even if you get sober, it takes years to unlearn the shit you practiced when you were using.
Well said
Agreed that there’s no excuse for his continued violations or the department continuing to employ him.
But… there’s also no excuse for the judge and prosecutor that excused a domestic violence in exchange for a property damage.
It’s so goddamn rare that these lunatic corrupt bad cops ever get charged, that it’s a huge slap in the face when they get offered these ridiculously lenient plea deal agreements.
Face it, he’s a cop! The person entrusted to uphold the law, also a person most aware of the law, so it’s a blatant act when they break law, policy, or violate rights.
There should never be ‘minimum sentences’ for any police officers conviction, mandatory max for all cops convicted of a crime.
And if judges and prosecutors keep offering these ‘deals’, that should always be posted on the news. Let the taxpayers see the outrageous BIAS being shown by these judges and prosecutors.
Why would any police department allow SIXTY ONE complaints, let alone his other charges , allow any officer to be any where near a police station. He is literally the opposite of “Protect and Serve “. His second chance is gross too. How many get a “second chance” after they know the person he is. Ridiculous 🙄
Now what? Lost her job and charged with a felony. .. the cop is UNFIT. How much evidence do they need? Despicable!
I am praying for her to get her lawsuit and more. So tired pf Corrupted Police Departments. We need to fix the System NOW🙏🙏🙏🏽🙏🏽❣️🌎☮️
It's outrageous that for years they let this individual get away with this egregious criminal behavior
The Nazis said Their department didn’t do anything wrong either,,, We investigated ourselves and found No wrong doing,,,
Slaps on the wrist,u see he should have been fired so so many times
It's not just him everybody that covered up his bullshit needs to be fired
I cannot believe that was the officer’s and the police department’s response to an unlawful arrest that cause a woman to go to jail and lose her job. They didn’t even address the victims, all they cared about was his so-called recovery. That is insane. They definitely need to pay that woman. & he should be off the force by now! Like what is going on at the police department?? They’re like a mob
When he stated the Detroit Police Department still stand by the arrest my jaw dropped, Their IQ level is extremely low.
My question is if he was charged with DV, how did he still have the right to possess or own a firearm. That’d make him a prohibited possessor, even to this day. Is the FBI even looking into this?
They changed the charge to destruction of property. Bull💩
ALL OF HIS BOSSES SHOULD BE FIRED AND CHARGED AS WELL. THIS GUY GOT MORE THAN ONE COMPLAINT. HE SHOULD HAVE BEEN SPOTTED AT THAT TIME. INSTEAD HIS BOSSES HAVE HIM PASS AFTER PASS OVER AND OVER UNTIL HE DID THIS TO HIS GIRLFRIEND. THEY SHOULD ALL BE FIRED AND CHARGED
Guilty until proven innocent
Oh man, I didn't recognize this case until I saw the body cam footage from her being arrested. I remember watching the entire recording when it was first brought to light and caught everyone's attention...it was so fucked up that I had to take a blood pressure pill after watching cuz it was just so damn INFURIATING to see what they had done to that woman. It was so blatantly egregious...those cops had to have known that what they were doing was wrong and probably an violation of her constitutional rights.
I can't figure out how anyone could possibly justify cuffing a woman who willingly walked into a precinct to clear up a completely non-violent crime which she was a witness to. They should have been thanking her.
I hope she sues and will
Of course they knew. She is black and therefore guilty.... in their minds. They don't pay the settlements so they don't care.
