Hi Thomas. The thing that bothers me the most about this. Is the fact me being white. It hurts me to hear that Black people are being racially profiled. And discriminated against. I don’t want the black community to hate me as a white person. Because I was raised to respect people no matter what color they are. And it doesn’t matter to me what nationality they are or where they come from. If they’re nice to me I would gladly be nice to them. I have Friends that are black. And I have nothing against them. I like them just as they are. What people seem to forget is that they are human beings too. I remember a situation at my place of work. A client made a comment about one of my friends and said. I don’t like them because they’re black. I got very upset with them. And my friend asked me what did they say. And I said. Believe me you don’t wanna know. They said come sit down and relax so you don’t get more stressed out. But my supervisor felt that I was in the right to stick up for a friend of mine.

depending how far you go back in american history that number could be in the tens of millions. The origins of modern-day policing can be traced back to the "Slave Patrol."
@@malachiashley528 Not to be contradictory, but modern day policing actually can be tracked back to Texas Ranger program initiatives and Special Forces training done overseas. Police used to be called peace officers, and handled mostly mundane tasks, such as patrolling for breakdowns on road systems, public searches for missing individuals, and general safety services. A lot of things changed as a result of violence directly against peace officer units, the police became more militarized and followed tactics and operational procedures developed for combating drug and sex trade in Asia by organized crime outfits. Those tactics were imported, adapted, and now most police behave in a manner consistent with "special operations teams" rather than peace officers. Unfortunately, this has the side effect of causing police to view their work differently, to view every situation from a combative point of view rather than a safety point of view. And unfortunately the work attracts people who desire power over others and have a chip on their shoulder ( a common combination stemming from racism ). Relating modern behavior to "slave patrol" isn't very accurate, and simplifies the more complex systemic racism we are seeing today. It's much too complex a topic to really be discussed meaningfully in a format such as this, but suffice to say that it is very, very good that cops must wear cameras and that we as citizens are not prohibited from recording our interactions with them. The officer in this video has no probable cause, he has not specified any actual reason for his presence or his demands, his demands are well outside what the constitution allows him to request, and his behavior is threatening, escalatory, and insulting to the person he is attempting to detain. If he had received a call for any reason there would be a record of it, and he is required to declare valid cause for running the man's ID, as that is considered being "detained" (the man cannot leave while his ID is being processed). By saying that the owner has requested him to remove someone from the premises falsely, that constitutes a violation of his oath and a violation of the rights of the detainee, and possibly civil court compensation for disrupting the business owner's livelihood on top of that. This man should have faced a formal inquiry for this behavior, unfortunately most precincts will just "retire" someone like this or allow them to resign rather than barring them from service elsewhere, so even if the cop is "fired" he can just work 1 town over.
No they couldn't, and neither should you if put in a similar situation (not telling you what to do, just saying what would be in you best interest). The manager had no idea what was going on, for all she new it was a legitimate police action. You have the benefit of the video, the restaurant did not, they just saw the officer come in and start talking to the Mr. Townsend and didn't know everything that was going on. You interject yourself you could get arrested for interfering with police business. The officer lied when he said the manger had called them, and wished him to leave. This is totally on the officer, he was totally in the wrong, and no one else but him and the department that keeps him employed is at fault. It seems even Mr. Townsend realized that by taking a picture with the manager so she could clear her and the restaurant's name, this wasn't their fault they had noting to do with it.

And it doesn’t matter to me what nationality they are or where they come from. If they’re nice to me I would gladly be nice to them. I have Friends that are black. And I have nothing against them. depending how far you go back in american history that number could be in the tens of millions. The origins of modern-day policing can be traced back to the "Slave Patrol."
Judgement day !!! Nothing evil goes unpunish
Let that racist cop go he showed his true self shame on him
@@malachiashley528 Not to be contradictory, but modern day policing actually can be tracked back to Texas Ranger program initiatives and Special Forces training done overseas.

This is totally on the officer, he was totally in the wrong, and no one else but him and the department that keeps him employed is at fault. It seems even Mr. Townsend realized that by taking a picture with the manager so she could clear her and the restaurant's name, this wasn't their fault they had noting to do with it.

Spot on!
Courage sometimes only comes after the fact when the shame sets in. I had a similar thing happen to me. I'm a street-level community organizer and also set up the local copwatch program, so the cops know who I am. I was conducting a meeting at a local drop-in centre when the cops showed up and began to harass one of the meeting participants. When I confronted the cops, they trespassed me from the property.
Initially the drop-in backed up the cops and told me they had no choice, that they relied on the cops for dealing with dangerous situations and they didn't want to risk defying them. But three days later after a meeting of the board, they changed their mind. They ended up following their conscience and inviting me back, then trespassing _the police_ from their property. They found their spines, but it took them a little bit of soul-searching.
He looks like a freak and probably smelled bad too. What was a guy like that doing in a restaurant by himself? Stoned out of his mind probably. Another dinner might have called.
That's exactly why they don't comply, they are tired of being profiled. It's embarrassing, annoying and it's a bother.
They are profiled because there are A LOT of black people actually committing crimes. Society is TIRED of all the black crime. If you feel that it is embarrassing, annoying and it's a bother. then get your black people to STOP committing crimes at such a ridiculous amount. The profiling happens for a reason, stop blaming the wrong people and get the black community to behave like the rest of normal civilized society.
