Years back my son and I were shopping Walmart, right after working his lawn care business, so we didn't look our best. An "associate" was following us pretending to be a shopper. It started to upset son, but I told him let me do something. Didn't want son buying into that trap. So I approached man said "were shopping same things today. What do you think about this or that"? As we were checking out, him still watching, I loudly said "ok security man following us for an hour, after check out we're going to customer service. "We don't tolerate discrimination" is standard lip-service now. Walmart legally has to put that in a statement (you know for their attenpt to appeal). You can tell it's bs by the way they immediately complain about losing the case and also how the guy wasn't fired for his driminatory behaviour, they caught him mishandling their products or something. They truly don't give a f about anything but their bottom dollar.
This kind of incident is an anomaly; Wal-Mart is good shopping place to go. I must say though that the world has become a complicated and stressful place to live and work especially for younger folks; they work hard everyday following conflicted advice from superior and meeting unhappy shoppers!
Loss prevention in general is a liability and they cost their company WAY more than the total value of assets that they recover. Walmart wasn't expecting the guy to win since unfortunately, most lawsuits against retailers are dismissed since the judges are in the retailer's pockets. I received a letter from a collector saying Walmart claimed I had stolen some earbuds and I need to pay a settlement. I had no clue what they were talking about, thought it was a scam. I found the store and eventually founded the manager, whom I've never seen in my life. She looked me in my face and lied to me, saying she caught me stealing. I went to the police station, they said they didn't have any records of the incident. I later end up testifying against her in another case she was involved in, after I saw it on the news. She was claiming they had stolen something also.
That’s what they do. They will false claim and have their lawyers send you a settlement hoping it will scare you so you pay them apparently they’ve done this to thousands of people. You’re right it is a scam but it’s a scam actually being ran by Walmart.

I have met someone like Williams many years ago in my own youth. They did as little as possible whilst on shift but made bogus complaints about customers simply to make it look like they had been vigilant and on their toes the whole time. They were required to fill in a register on the hour every hour of anything that happened of note within the store but when you read the register back, in comparison to all the other shifts that were quiet and un-eventful, this guys seemed to have dramatic things going on all the time. It was after watching the CCTV footage of those so called incidents that management realised that it was all fantasy. Needless to say, the guy never made it to his third week.
How many hundreds more has he gotten away with until that point for him to be famous inside the police department. Even they knew he was lying chronically.
Im a retired cop. I have observed several store security guards (at various stores in our jurisdiction) over the years go far above their authority and often times over react. Btw, i was at a Wal-Mart few yrs ago and saw a guy stuff a new pair of jeans down his sweat pants. I notified an employee who just shrugged her shoulders & walked away.

Good! No real loss for Walmart. They are scam rip-off! Acting as if they are friendly helpers of communities when actually they are not. It's all about money. Money! Money! Money! Walmart will fire you for anything
What's sad about this story is that WalMart is NOT responsible, and actually DID fire the employee. The jury should not have held them accountable. Blk people are always on the lookout for a quick payday, and there are plenty of bottom-feeding lawyers available to aid them with this kind of hustle.
I’ve had theft protection embarrass me so badly. I simply had time to kill and stopped to look around. I tried returning my blanket in Walmart bag with receipt but customer service wasn’t open. The woman yelled at me searched my bag, then continued going off on me after she realized I didn’t try to steal anything. I asked for manager and the manager just told me to leave. I was so upset. I could understand if I had tried stealing something but because I looked around the store she was so rude and unapologetic. Most embarrassing situation I’ve ever had. Walmart employees are awful.
Unfortunately some are. I saw another story where a woman was accused of stealing from self check-out. She later sued and won about two million dollars.
I bet if they did a cost/benefit analysis of hiring these idiots to stalk people and look for shoplifters, they are losing more money paying these guys than they are by any potential shoplifting and lawsuits.

At Walmart in Dixon California, my son and I were followed out to our car because the Manager wasn't watching as people were leaving, and checking your receipt, etc. She demanded to look into our bags, it was completely humiliating. No behavior such as this at Target either. My son is actually former Military Law Enforcement and found Walmarts Manager behavior Nonsensical.
They had no right to check your bags unless they were checking everyone's bags. I would have stood my ground and said no. Let them call the police and embarass themselves.

They only fired that psycho after he finally lied on a man that took action with a lawsuit.
How many hundreds more has he gotten away with until that point for him to be famous inside the police department. Even they knew he was lying chronically.

I was on the verge of embarrassment one occasion. I was rolling past the doorman and he hadnt said anything, until I was just outside the door when he grabbed my cart. Im disabled so was using the side of the cart as a crutch/cane. He insisted I had slipped past him in a rush (but Im disabled and basically hobble) and because of that he HAD to check. I told the gentleman as he started rifling through the cart and drawing attention to me that I had my own policy of not being falsely accused and if his search came up empty I was entitled to crack his jaw. But please, go right ahead I'll wait. He stopped.
You think he learned anything? I bet you. Anything. That he’ll do exactly the same at some other store. Maybe a big lot or dollar tree? That’s where these simpletons can find work
Sorry
Sorry to here that it’s not you it’s them
Hes probably laughing all the way to the bank. Well worth the harassment
Walmart is notorious for stuff like this. Always has been. It can be dangerous going in to Walmart late at night just bc of how the employees target their customers and try to get them assaulted/arrested by police for literally no reason at all.
Where tf do you live lol they are douchebags but none of that where I'm at
I’ve had the same issues here in SALEM OREGON ….been goin to this Walmart for yearsss & I’m Security guard ! That place has one more time to do this to me as well & I’m gone be sitting on a few MILL 🙏🏾 Congrats brother make them PAY US OFFICIAL
Yes! Making corporations pay for allowing this despicable behavior could go a long way in improving staff training. Thankfully, Oregon has some of the best civil rights attorneys...
Definitely record it so you have proof.
You ain't getting millions stfu get back to work. 😂
So proud of ALL the police in this matter for their willingness to be truthful and stay on the side of Justice. I’m also glad that they tried before this incident to get that boy under control for his excessive lies and calls to police.
Just another of many of these reasons why we dont shop at Walmart

When ever I go to Walmart with someone I feel like I’m in a wild environment
🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😭😭😭
....becarefull they dont...target you...lol...
The irony is that Target has been sued more times over false shoplifting accusations, false detainment, battery, intimidation, etc. by their asset protection staff than Walmart has.
Proof please
Same. If I can't stand paying more then I do Amazon, but I know they're not treating employees well so that sucks too
we need to respect the millions of dollars given to him
