Police anomalies.. The Police of Uvalde, they were on the scene early enough to make a difference. The active shooter commander gave the order to stand down. Because they believed the shooter had barricaded himself. Shots were fired for 2 minutes. And 911 calls came from inside the classrooms, for help.
And they continued to assume it was a barricade. A mother ran in, she was pepper sprayed. She ran in and grabbed her kid.
So, this is a hard truth for a thick hard head to understand, the pro-police side DOESN'T like to hear this kind of thing.
You don't place someone else to be responsible for your life or the lives of your children.
Armed parents should do a fire watch schedule to address this problem. Someone out of uniform is needed, gives the element of surprise an attacker would never notice when they recon for soft targets and multiple people because schools often have a big campus. And multiple parents with communication devices. You have roughly 2 parents per kid. That's a lot of shifts throughout the year to evenly distribute. And, hire vets. Or, let's reform the National Guard. We basically have them sitting around doing nothing. Why can't we put a few of them in uniform in every school, and a few out of uniform.
Sounds like a militia doesn't it? Sounds like the written text of the 2nd Amendment.
But remember there were 19 officers inside the school. None of them engaged the shooter.

@@waynejohnson1786 Correct it's part of the official timeline. Specifically Chief Pete Arredondo was the one who ordered officers not to engage and wait for SWAT. He ordered Swat to stand down and wait for Border Patrol. He then ordered Border Patrol to stand down. He did this knowing that the children were being slaughtered. They were calling 911 begging for help and updating on the growing body count. Later they were simply saying how many were still alive as most were dead. Police asked them to call out if they needed help. One said help giving away her location and the shooter sot her. Police shouldn't have said that as they were not breaching.
There are rumors that Pete Arredondo was being black mailed by the shooter. That when he died, video of Pete molesting him would be released. That he was fighting to keep him alive because he didn't want to be exposed and lose his political career. It is also being said that the money for the guns came from Chief Pete Arredondo who is a also somehow a millionaire.

Unfortunately these days this is what every officer is trained to do - to value their own life over civilians. That is why they almost always wait for overwhelming force. That is why they draw their weapons at the least threat. They are taught to be fearful and conservative. That is why they ere on the side of shooting people and don't stop shooting until they completely stop moving. We need to get rid of the police unions that institutionalize this training and also which protect bad cops. Can you imagine if our soldiers were unionized?

Maybe they're just completely incompetent or way over the head; I'm sure they don't get paid very much in a small city in a rural county. Bad info was given to Governor Abbott about what had happened, then the Governor used that for his press conference on Wednesday. Then Texas DPS stepped in the sort things out in the ongoing investigation. Thursday, a two star Texas DPS Asst Chief was on scene releasing the disturbing information about the delays in rescuing kids that obviously embarrassed the Governor. Friday, the Texas DPS Chief (the Colonel which is the highest rank at DPS) Steve McCraw was there going into much more detail, probably sent by the Governor to clear the water. McCraw was obviously extremely nervous. There's still more to this story. I think none of this poor incident response is the fault of Texas DPS, but they stepped into the middle of it, now they own it.

I've got a little 5-year girl that is my world. She absolutely MUST live - that's my motto. If I have nothing but my car as protection, me and my car are going in, period end of story. If my little girl dies then i'm dead anyway.
I have felt the pain of losing innocent family at the end of a criminal's bullet. That pain is worst than any bullet. It permeates your soul and gets into your bones. It can last for years and only ends when a part of you finally dies...
I'm going in folks, and my car is going with me.

Those cops should all be fired! And I hope all those parents bring a class action suit against that police department for millions because I promise you, it's no departments policy to "wait" for backup during an active shooter situation. Those cops failed their community. They were more interested in saving their own lives then doing the job they were sworn to do.

Rejoice in Heaven, sweet kids. All of you were courageous and followed the safety protocol--my heroes!!! To all the officers who froze for more than one hour when our kids trusted you to show up, may God forgive you. Those babies counted on you to save them because educators praise you and promise them you will keep them safe from the bad guys. How will they EVER trust anyone again? In my opinion, AT LEAST the Uvalde city officers should have heard their dispatchers relay the incoming 911 calls. Precious lives were desperately waiting for someone to show up. And you should have made an ethical and moral decision to go in and defend our helpless babies, regardless of the nonsensical orders anyone was giving you. Nothing in this world will ever undo the heartache in our lives, but every individual who failed our elementary babies must be held accountable. We can start there…
