  • I said I wasn't going to mod the Civic....... I lasted about a month before I decided that stock radio had to go!! Hope this video helped you guys out!
    Follow my Instagram for more current updates on the builds!
    / daniel_kellert
    NOTE: After installing the headunit I noticed a slight buzzing/frequency noise in the speakers at low volumes & whenever a button was pressed on the headunit. The speakers were also insanely loud at low volumes & the ground for the e-brake wire didn't work the way I hoped it would. You have 3 options if this happens to you!
    You can either
    A) Watch this video where I show you guys how to still use the power of the stock amp & get rid of the buzzing noise & offset volume controls!! (This is the best option as the factory amp provides more power to your speakers & sub than any aftermarket headunit would.)
    Here is the Link
    • STATIC NOISE IN SPEAKE...
    B) Buy this harness from Scosche which comes with RCA's already built in & retains the factory amp & sub. (Works but Scosche messed up the pin locations on the amp harness connector so you will need to re pin it anyways)
    Here is the Link
    www.amazon.ca/...
    C) Order this all in one headunit kit from Idoing (Best option by far. Easy & pug & play)

  • @NightFlight1973
    @NightFlight1973 3 месяца назад +1

    Ok, so most aftermarket are running speaker out into the cars premium amp. That's why its too loud and you have no volume control. If you lower the levels through EQ and such, you are taking basically no singal, then amplifying it resulting in noise and loss of dynamic range. The head unit might be able to switch to pre-level outs or maybe have separate outputs for it, but that means more cutting into the factory harness.
    I'm planning to do mine with a bunch of bullet connectors on the factory side so I can pop back to the factory connector vs RCA if I need too.

    Any idea where the factory amp is? My stock radio cuts in and out. I took it out and put some contact cleaner on all the connections and reseat them a bunch of times, but its still fucked. It cuts in and out when I hit bumps or sometimes if I hulk smash the dash with my fist. I'm thinking I have to check the factory amp connection side and see if that's all crud. I'm not convinced that if I replace the factory radio I'm not still gonna have the amp cut in and out.

    • @DanielKellert
      @DanielKellert  3 года назад +1

      The way I wired the harness in this video is without steering wheel controls. If you want to keep the steering wheel controls you will need to buy the harness adapter & module for it!
      As for the front speakers.. I recommend watching this video. ruclips.net/video/rA358n6hZx8/видео.html
      I explain in pretty good detail how these premium audio systems are wired with the factory wiring diagram. I also explain what each wire colour controls on the harness (green & green/black controls the left rear speaker) & so on. Make sure all of your wires are connected properly as I explained in the video.

      On the amp you will need a power wire directly to your battery with an large in line fuse. Most likely 4 gauge wire depending how much power output your amp has. Then you will need a good ground wire for the amp (probably 4 gauge as well). You will also need to run rca cables from the headunit on the subwoofer pre out to whatever channel you want to run your subs off of on your amp. Then you will need to run speaker wires (+ & -) from the corresponding channel to the RCA’s directly to the subwoofer. Hopefully that makes sense!

      If you have any audio output at all that means your amp is powered & is working. Make sure all of your speaker signal wires are connected properly. I explain a little more in depth here & it will save you that annoying buzzing sound.

      Ya. So the guy that installed this stereo did all of that with the rca cables. I took it apart about a year ago to find out why my rear speakers weren’t working that’s when I seen them. I did take it out and still no rear. But I just found a amp bypass harness from metra.

    • @DanielKellert
      @DanielKellert  3 года назад

      @@pineapplexpress2653 I have a link to the amp bypass harness in the description as well... although in my situation I didn’t want to bypass the amp because the factory amp has more output power than my headunit.
      I’d start checking continuity on wires to the rear speakers & see if you have an open somewhere. If you verify all the wires are good then check for an output signal at the amp, if the amp gives an output signal & the wires are good & everything is connected properly, the speakers could be pooched.
      Take it step by step & I’m sure you’ll find your issue!! 😃

    Did the video play? By grounding it off ?

    • @DanielKellert
      @DanielKellert  3 года назад

      It might with certain audio manufacturers, but with the Pioneer it didn’t. I had to run a switch in series. Pioneer needs to see an E brake on, off, then back on again to activate the video on the unit. I explain how I ended up wiring the e brake switch at the 4:45 mark in this video

      @DanielKellert  3 года назад

      @William Notmylastname I just left the switch inside the access panel under the headunit. Then I ran my USB cable into the glove box! I would suggest you watch this video too ruclips.net/video/rA358n6hZx8/видео.html I explain the wiring a lot more in depth & fix a couple issues I had after installing the unit🤙🏼

    • @DanielKellert
      @DanielKellert  3 года назад

      @William Notmylastname No it should be the exact same. That black wire is just a chassis ground & all you are doing by running the switch is tricking the headunit into thinking the switch is your “e brake”. It should be the same for an automatic. Just run the switch in series with that black chassis ground wire.

      Super easy. Just use a 1/4 inch ratchet, 1-2 inch extension & a 8mm shallow socket. Should be able to get em back in no problem 👍🏼
