Yes you can. You'll just have to go to steering wheel settings on the radio to set it up again before the volume connects to the steering wheel controls

Hi! Did your 2 screws under the radio go back in with the aftermarket head unit? I just installed mine and there’s no way it would work there. Without them it seems a bit shaky to me.
The 2 screws under the radio don't go onto the aftermarket head unit since the mounting bracket is different. It's more of a "clip on" with the aftermarket

Hey I just purchased the same unit, I’m having trouble putting the two annoying screws back under the system. It’s like the bracket for the screws to go into are on the old head unit so how would I add the two screws without the bracket being there to hold the screws up??
Hey, If you're having issues with putting the two screws back on, you don't have to use them since some aftermarket stereo kits don't use the same mounting brackets. The rest of the dash clips will be able to hold the stereo in place without popping out.

He still has the stock head unit installed, and is using an fm adaptor where there's crazy static in some parts of the city. Have you noticed any static with this, and if so how bad? Thanks in advanced for the help!
Hey, this headunit has worked for me well the last few years! There are many headunits out there that look similar. I would say if you get one, get the better specs one with 32gb and 4g ram and rom speed.
Sorry to hear about that. Maybe take it to a shop to diagnose to see what the blue wire is. I only know the baby blue wire is the amp for civics with premium sound
No problem! Glad you found the video helpful. I don't use apple car play so I'm not sure but it might be the same as Android auto where you connect the cable to your phone and click on "easy connect" app.
@@TheJMedia I mean once you connect it to your phone CarPlay/android auto pops up automatically but right after you press “home” on the tablet, how do we get android auto/CarPlay back on?
@@TheJMedia nvm I found out how to do it. By the way I’m getting a low static/white noise when my audio is on even at 0 volume. But when I mute the car the noise is gone. I followed 100% what you did. Any idea why this is happening?
If your audio is working for radio, it should work with Bluetooth as well. Mine has no issues. Might be an electrical issue with your head unit. See if the seller can send you a new one
Sure thing! Glad you found it helpful. The stereo itself is not amplified but it depends on what model Civic you have. Some like the civic Si and some Civic ex models have amplifier in the oem radio and some do not. If it has an amp, you stock radio will say "premium audio system" on it
Still works great! There are a few different options that look the same online but as long as you don't go with the cheapest $100+ one you're fine. The cheap options only have 1gb ram and 16gb rom which is why so slow. If you spend about $300-$500, you can get a better unit
Nope. Same kits but if you have premium sound then you'll have to splice the light blue amp wire for sound. If you don't have premium sound, don't need to splice anything and plug and play.
@@TheJMedia any chance you have more info on how to setup the steering wheel controls. I just got this after watching your video. I have it all working but I can’t get the steering controls to work (vol + vol -). Other than that I love it.
That's weird. Mine never had that issue. It's either no sound at all or if sound comes on, it works for both radio and Bluetooth/apple car play. Maybe try to contact the company you bought it from. Might be a faulty unit
I just installed this unit, the Bluetooth works fine and I get sound from music that way, however my car is picking up no radio stations just static, any advice?
Hmm does your car come with the premium audio from factory with the amps? Sounds like a reception issue if you're not having radio but can have sound with Bluetooth
@@TheJMedia I have an LX Coupe without premium audio, which antennae handles the radio because I see the GPS one and the 4G but there is no radio antennae, the radio works on the old dash fine, but picks up just static on this one
It could be a bad ground with some wires touching. I would recommend getting an amp for it and double checking to make sure that no loose wires hanging and touching. Also wrap any exposed wires with electrical tape.
There are many similar looking ones online but some specs are different than others. Mine was labelled "amp" on the wire so I knew which one to connect
@@TheJMedia I just have one more question, what’s the blue wire for that is in my car because I did splice that and thought that is is my factory amplifier but the new stereo still works.
Is it a light blue colored wire from the OEM wire harness? If it is, I was under the impression that was the amp wire. Not sure if not other models it's something else
I have a wire that has a sticker and it says AMP CTRL, I’m just wandering if that is one of the blue that I need to cut and solder it to the blue colored wire?
@@TheJMedia Also, I have Honda Civic Coupe 2D LX. When I check my factory harness to look for a baby blue colored wire, I only see one blue wire, is that the one that I have to cut and wire it to the amp wire?
I believe the LX does not have a factory amp. If it doesn't, then you shouldn't have to splice any wires and it is just plug and play. Check to see whether your car has premium sound factory amp.
What’s up man. I have the same brand android head unit as you. I did exactly everything you did but I’m getting static through the speakers and the volume is extremely loud at volume level 4. Any advice on how to fix this?
Hey, were your speakers working fine before the install? With aftermarket head units, I would recommend an aftermarket amp to help eliminate that issue.
@@TheJMedia thanks for the reply! Yeah my speakers worked fine before installing the android head unit. Yeah it seems like an aftermarket amp would be the best solution. I’ve been searching and researching for hours on how to fix this and can’t find a viable solution with the premium audio system
Yea aftermarket amp would work. I have two aftermarket head units on two different cars and thankfully no static but the volume is either super soft or loud like you said
if you haven’t bought and installed an amp yet you can try and use RCA cables for your speakers connecting to your new hu. it will eliminate the static and will fix the volume to normal
No lag for me! I've heard people with 1gb or 2gb models experience lag since it has a smaller processor. They look the same on the outside and are cheaper but the specs inside arent
If it's the very first time removing the bolts, they can take a little bit to get them out. They will come out eventually if you take your time and have the right tools!
Its been a few months. Any reviews? How did you like it. There seems to be several radios that look like this one but im not sure if they are all the same radio branded differently or sold at different prices
Yes it has been a few months since install and I still love it! Definitely feels more modern. There are a few stereos that look alike but they have different processers and different memory space that's why the pricing is different. If you want the exact one that I have, best bang for buck in terms of processor speed etc, I have a link in the video for purchase
Haven't had any issues. It boots right up as soon as I start up the car. I would say within 5 seconds. Only time it takes longer is if I took the battery out and it had to do a reset. In that case takes maybe 30 seconds.
That's weird. I've done a few cars with the factory amp this way and it worked. Is yours the si model with factory amp as well? Make sure to check all wiring and fuses are good
@@lucasmartinez5329 I Actually did, Previous owner cut off the factory amp. my guess is , he couldn't disconnect it. So now the audio shop says they have to rewire the speakers

@@TheJMediawhat head units would you recommend for iPhone? Also have 2010 Civic lx
This headunit would work for both iPhone and Android. Has apple car play and android auto
@@TheJMediaty J 🙏
So i accidentally did the blue one instead of the baby blue one. Is there going to he a problem with the blue of not connected anymore?
Not sure what the other blue wire is, but do you have sound on your new stereo? If yes, then that's good
@@TheJMedia i do not sadly
Sorry to hear about that. Maybe take it to a shop to diagnose to see what the blue wire is. I only know the baby blue wire is the amp for civics with premium sound
hey man thanks for this detailed walkthrough. How do we get apple carplay to populate after leaving carplay? I don't see the carplay app.
@@TheJMedia found the app! Bro can you show us how to pair the steering wheel controls?
That's great! Yea maybe I can do an updated video on it. I think there was an app that says steering controls or something like that
@@TheJMedia nvm I found out how to do it. By the way I’m getting a low static/white noise when my audio is on even at 0 volume. But when I mute the car the noise is gone. I followed 100% what you did. Any idea why this is happening?
Hey man I know you posted a while ago but if your connected to Apple car play is it laggy at all?
I've only connected it to Android auto since I have a Google phone, but I believe it should work pretty quickly just the same for apple car play.
Hi how dod you het your Bluetooth to work i get radio sound but no Bluetooth sound
If your audio is working for radio, it should work with Bluetooth as well. Mine has no issues. Might be an electrical issue with your head unit. See if the seller can send you a new one
@@TheJMedia I died it I had to splice accessorie red wire with the baby blue wire and now have Bluetooth
@user-eg7ve9xy3y that's good that you figured it out and working now
Do you have a video where carplays works??
I don't unfortunately.. I mainly use the Bluetooth to play music. Carplay does work but it can be a little slow
Hi thank u for the video. is this one that’s not an amplified system ? my place said they can install if it’s not an amplified system.
Sure thing! Glad you found it helpful. The stereo itself is not amplified but it depends on what model Civic you have. Some like the civic Si and some Civic ex models have amplifier in the oem radio and some do not. If it has an amp, you stock radio will say "premium audio system" on it
@@TheJMedia i have a honda civic 2007. would that be okay with this system
Yes it would be! Will fit all 2006 to 2011 Honda civics
Year later was it worth it or does was it trash?
Still works great! There are a few different options that look the same online but as long as you don't go with the cheapest $100+ one you're fine. The cheap options only have 1gb ram and 16gb rom which is why so slow. If you spend about $300-$500, you can get a better unit
Can you still use the factory amp and sub with this head unit?
Yes you can! If it has the factory amp, you need to splice into the blue wire like I showed in the video
@@TheJMedia how do you bypass the factory amp if you no longer want to use it
I am not sure since I am still using the factory amp. I am guessing just connect your aftermarket amp wire to the amp wire on the headunit.
@@TheJMedia which wire on head unit do i connect the blue wire (remote wire) from amp to?
It will be labelled amp on the aftermarket head unit wire
Hey im having EXTREME amounts of trouble taking OFF the two bolts under the dash. How did you get them to unscrew since mine feel stuck
I had no issues taking them off. Do you have the right tools for the job?
@@TheJMedia i finally was able to get it off. But it took so much time and will power 😂
Haha working on cars be like that sometimes 🤣
Very nice! Got a link to the kit?
Thank you! Yes you can buy it here: www.amazon.com/AWESAFE-Stereo-Andriod-Carplay-2006-2011/dp/B08PBVD537
I thought there were different kits depending on the trim if you had premium sound or not?
Nope. Same kits but if you have premium sound then you'll have to splice the light blue amp wire for sound. If you don't have premium sound, don't need to splice anything and plug and play.
@@TheJMedia ahhh nice thanks
@@TheJMedia also did you have to connect wires for e brake, reverse lights ?
Nope I didn't have to mess with any of that. If you connect a back up camera, you might need to wire it up. I personally have not done that
@@TheJMedia interesting wonder why some people have to do that
Did u have the premium audio system
Yes I have the premium audio system
How do you change the language in the settings?
Have not messed with language settings yet but I believe it should be under "settings" and it should be there
im trying to get a civic lx currently does it work with apple? (i feel like its a dumb question but i have to ask
Yes this radio will work with all 8th gen civic models from 2007 to 2011.
@@TheJMedia but does it connect with iphones too
Yes it does. Has both Apple car play and android auto
Does that work with the control on the steering wheel?
Yes it does but you will have to set it up after installing the aftermarket head unit
the one I bought looks just like yours and my steering wheel controls work....you just set them up
@@TheJMedia any chance you have more info on how to setup the steering wheel controls. I just got this after watching your video. I have it all working but I can’t get the steering controls to work (vol + vol -). Other than that I love it.
How did you get the Apple CarPlay to work ?
If you’re unit didn’t come with the adapter, you will need to order the Apple Play dongle.
wassup man! having an issue with the bluetooth and car play…radio works just fine just cant play my own music
Sounds like it might be an issue with your Bluetooth settings since you are getting sound from radio
@@TheJMedia checked those..everything is up and set correctly…i even played it from the usb port and no sound it just plays
That's weird. Mine never had that issue. It's either no sound at all or if sound comes on, it works for both radio and Bluetooth/apple car play. Maybe try to contact the company you bought it from. Might be a faulty unit
Is there a way to add a back up camera?
Yes there is! Can be purchased seperately
Where did you get a your window visor from
Hey, I think I got it off ebay/Amazon. Mugen style window visor
Perfect, easy and successful. Thanks
You're welcome! Glad you found the install video helpful
have the same head unit. i have an after market amp but idk where on the head unit the blue wire from the amp goes. can anyone help?
There are many similar looking ones online but some specs are different than others. Mine was labelled "amp" on the wire so I knew which one to connect
What is the long device that comes with it for? Because I don’t think it is the gps because I got the little black square gps and a microphone
The long black wired one is 4G connection. Also came with the GPS and microphone
@@TheJMedia thank you
@@TheJMedia I just have one more question, what’s the blue wire for that is in my car because I did splice that and thought that is is my factory amplifier but the new stereo still works.
Is it a light blue colored wire from the OEM wire harness? If it is, I was under the impression that was the amp wire. Not sure if not other models it's something else
@@TheJMedia yes is it the blue wire from the OEM wires and I didn’t connect it back and everything still works 😅
Are you anywhere near NY to do this to my Honda ?
Sorry I'm not unfortunately. I'm down south in Texas
I have a wire that has a sticker and it says AMP CTRL, I’m just wandering if that is one of the blue that I need to cut and solder it to the blue colored wire?
Yea it seems like that might be the one since it is labeled amp
@@TheJMedia Also, I have Honda Civic Coupe 2D LX. When I check my factory harness to look for a baby blue colored wire, I only see one blue wire, is that the one that I have to cut and wire it to the amp wire?
I connected it and it didn’t work, still now sound
I believe the LX does not have a factory amp. If it doesn't, then you shouldn't have to splice any wires and it is just plug and play. Check to see whether your car has premium sound factory amp.
@@TheJMedia how do I chech if I have premium sound factory amp?
@@jeweledrada6258 I'll try this thank you.
i noticed this is a 4gb model. is it laggy? i really want to get one
No lag for me! I've heard people with 1gb or 2gb models experience lag since it has a smaller processor. They look the same on the outside and are cheaper but the specs inside arent
bro I’m having so much trouble unscrewing the bolts under the oem radio, the nuts are bolted in so strong . . . i cannot take them out
If it's the very first time removing the bolts, they can take a little bit to get them out. They will come out eventually if you take your time and have the right tools!
I used a deep 8mm socket and my electric power ratchet was much easier to unscrew the bolts rather than using a screwdriver.
would this work on a honda civic 2012 coupe
You would have to get a headunit for the 9th Gen civic since this one fits 2008 to 2011 models.
Where do I find the plastic dash din part
It came together with the head unit
Its been a few months. Any reviews? How did you like it. There seems to be several radios that look like this one but im not sure if they are all the same radio branded differently or sold at different prices
Yes it has been a few months since install and I still love it! Definitely feels more modern. There are a few stereos that look alike but they have different processers and different memory space that's why the pricing is different. If you want the exact one that I have, best bang for buck in terms of processor speed etc, I have a link in the video for purchase
@@TheJMedia will check it out. And yeah I figured there had to be something different because on the surface they all look the same
Yes definitely worth paying a little extra for a fast processor so it won't lag
Link to the head unit?
Here is the link to buy it: amzn.to/3qZMj6v
How long does it take to boot up when you turn on the car??
And have you had any issues with it??maybe an updated video
Haven't had any issues. It boots right up as soon as I start up the car. I would say within 5 seconds. Only time it takes longer is if I took the battery out and it had to do a reset. In that case takes maybe 30 seconds.
@@TheJMedia nice just placed my order I appreciate it 👌
No problem! You'll love it!
I’ve connected everything exactly as you did , blue wire for amp
, and I still can’t get any sound
That's weird. I've done a few cars with the factory amp this way and it worked. Is yours the si model with factory amp as well? Make sure to check all wiring and fuses are good
Ever figure out the issue? I'm having the same issue
@@lucasmartinez5329 I Actually did, Previous owner cut off the factory amp. my guess is , he couldn't disconnect it. So now the audio shop says they have to rewire the speakers
Where did you get the hood vents
Those are universal hood vents that I got on eBay. I did a diy video where I cut up my hood to install it.
ruclips.net/video/LZgIaMNE0VI/видео.html
Mine doesn’t turn off when I turn my car off
It should shut off when you turn your car off. You might have had it wired incorrectly
