    Great vid! And you're the only blogger who doesn't annoy me with road positioning. You ride where I would ride! Ride as fast as you can see. And as fast as you can stop.

    Watched this video many times now, it’s what sold the R to me so I bought one 😁. I’m totally the opposite to Bruce at 5’4” and over 5 stone lighter (just). Have toured the Picos and heading to lake Como and Garda this summer, its simply brilliant cheers 👍

    Well old lad I'm same size (chunky) and maybe a little older. I test rode the last model r1200r, even though I did go down for a look and test ride on a gs1200. Test rode the r1200r. Loved the bike loved the ride. Thing is got back and bought the r nine t. I'm past a mid life crisis. If I'd not seen the r nine t when I got back I would have bought it. Excellent vid.

I ride gs 1200 Adv 2012 but Bmw gave me this bike for the time of the service . I'm comuting on it 300 km a week and really love it . Very good breaks , very good engine and nice electronic package. And that f.... engine !!!!!

    Good quality vid as always, and as for the weed aroma you need to transfer out to the sticks mate. I notice it as soon as i hit that London village on the bike ...that and the suicidal cyclists and pedestrians. I am 6 foot 1 and 16 and a half stone and i found the bike fairly small as well to sit on (still cant ride after shoulder surgery but soon ...very soon ) but will try a ride on one to see

    Love the review bud. I also like the bike, but I just cannot get used to that front look, with regard to the dash. I cannot see myself looking at a whole lot of empty space all the time. I wish they had something similar to the r1250rt dash with built in led display. To me it's a whole lot of emptiness. Guess I am too used to my bagger setup.
    Keep up the great work and safe riding. Cheers from south Africa.

    Great vlog as usual, some lovely twisties as well. I notice it is shod with PR4 as standard I presume, I found them to be a great tyre , glad it didn't come with Bridgestone hate them in the wet . Wales may be a little damp on your trip or you may have avoided it we shall see 😉👍🍻

    • @teapotone

      I was surprised it came with Pr4’s and not PR5’s tbh. The 4’s are good, but didn’t feel quite as athletic or ‘sticky’ as the 5’s, still no dramas in rain or shine though 👍

    • @teapotone
      @teapotone  5 лет назад +2

    P.S. got fed up with the go pros and not knowing if they are recording or not. So had a brain wave (once every 10 years), I stuck the remote on the handlebar, I still use voice control for control but you get a flashing light on the handlebar to indicate you are recording! You can see it clearly on my recent Harley ride vid...

    Looks like a lovely and lively bike Bruce. Really great review and funny - the “WAZ” included. We’ve all had to do it and the older you get the more common it becomes!! I’ll still stick with my own naked bike but I am on the prowl now for a touring bike - at the moment it’s between the AT with DCT and the 1250GS. I’ve others to look at and a whole bunch of test rides over the coming months - it’ll be all about comfort! Any views, Bruce, that you’re willing to share? Yours aye, Alan

    Not convinced on how they integrated the TFT screen in terms of how it changes the looks: it's given it a sort of pointy crest almost like a cassowary @27:42 I currently ride the 1200r and the sloping front end together with the headlight design gives it such a dynamic attitude. This was a big part of the appeal to me. The review is otherwise spot on!

  • @diegocella6791

    I have to say... i never used Hard suspension on the GSA, it was just too hard! I always ride standard (maybe Dynamic on curvy roads, because it really help a lot) and confort on Autostrada. On the K 1600 i use road on a daily basis and Dynamic (throttle and suspension) on mountain road, too firm for evry day use. Rain i only use when i need to save fuel!!!!! And it isn't germain to this video, but i just Installed a set of Dunlop Raodsmart on the K... and it is amazing!!!!

    I'm just about the same physical stats as you but I have a few more lbs (working on that now). As you already know, most bikes make us look like circus bears, but f&#$ if we're going to give up on riding a sportier bike! I think I like the 1000XR better for it's size but you're right, sports rockets and naked sports bikes are hard to get out of the system. I found that riding more off-road has showed me new levels of the fun motorcycles can bring you. Have a good one Teapot, and be safe out there.

    Hi there, TeapotOne - judging by what I've seen so far you seem to be a righteous MC rider AND ... I've known your face ever since I listened to my first Gentle Giant record ;) - I came across your vids right after I got my personal specimen of the BMW R 1250 R "babes" late last year; due to bad weather conditions I haven't ridden it by now other than online "with you"... ;) Now I'm really looking forward to my first Beemer ride! I really dig your hilarious comments like at 20:54 lol What's life if you can't take it "cum grano salis"... If you take my meaning!? Take good care of yourself & your formidable biker beard --- you're a role model, mine's still about to grow...

    I ride a Superduke GT 1290, and for some reason I really fancy a 1250R or RS... Maybe it's because 170bhp and 106Lb:ft is too much for me? I love it dearly but I rarely use full power, and then only in the higher gears because in the lower ones the anti-wheelie part of the traction control has a fit.
    I'm booked in for a test on a R1250R next week, looking forward to it.

      @dsimon9s29 5 лет назад +1

      They might if they could charge an extra £800 pounds for it or if they can still charge £750 but their cost is lower than the Nav 6 setup. But I am sure they would not be that greedy. :) @@teapotone

      I had it up to 145mph - on a closed road obviously, and only stopped going higher because I couldn’t hold onto the bars any longer.
      The peaked lid was quite noisy at higher speed but not unbearable, and I didn’t find it uncomfortable to wear without a screen 👍

    What are your thoughts going to this from a KTM 1290R? The ktm warranty is abysmal in the US, so I'm ready to purchase something to give me a little more piece of mind. It's either the R1250R or the Tuono V4 1100. I know they're not exactly comparable, but something makes me feel like I'd be happy with the beamer.

    • @teapotone
      @teapotone  5 лет назад +1

      I’ve not tried the 1290 Superduke R yet, I’ve currently got a loan of the Super Adventure S and will get the 1290 Superduke GT in August for a few weeks, so can’t wait to give that a go.
      The KTM’s have bonkers power, I t’s proper grin inducing stuff and loads of fun, but they are definitely not as refined as the BMW’s.
      I look forward to riding the KTM, but I know I’ve been riding one by the time I get off it as I’m a bit sore, where as I can happily ride the GS all day long without any issues.
      The dealer network for KTM’s is a bit hit and miss too. There are fantastic dealerships out there, but there are proper stinkers too. With BMW the dealerships are fairly standard and corporate across the board, you pay for a top notch quality of customer service and that’s exactly what you get.
      With regards to R1250R or Tuono - well that’s a real head or heart decision! The Tuono is absolutely superb, it looks amazing, sounds incredible, rides fantastic, but again the deal network is not common and the quality of service varies wildly, plus the actual product isn’t as reliable as it should be.
      The BMW is rock solid in terms of reliability and build quality - on the whole, and the bike itself is fantastic.
      For me, it’d be the Beamer if it was to be my only bike 👍

    • @latemnf
      @latemnf 5 лет назад

      Thank you for taking the time to answer that question in such a detailed way, I appreciate it and value your input. The way you were having so much fun with that 1250 shift cam boxer makes me think the bike will be loads of fun, maybe not quite as ludicrous as the KTM, but definitely enough to get the blood pumping. And like you said, the peace of mind and dealership experience is second to none, so that in and of itself is a big selling point. Thanks again tp, you're the best.

    Hi Bruce, great vid as usual. Really like the look of that with the HP paint scheme. Is Helga back on the road yet?
    As you know I have ridden the 1250 GSA, and sorry to be slightly negative, but really dont think there is ENOUGH difference between my 2017 GSA and the new model to warrant the (not insignificant) cost to change. I will wait and see what BMW do next, but unless it is something pretty spectacular I am more and more tempted to move to something different. Key reasons for me are the various build/finish quality issues that BMW bikes have suffered over the last couple of years, plus a definite lowering of service standards provided main dealers. TTFN, Scott.

    • @teapotone
      @teapotone  5 лет назад

      Yeah I like the look of the bike too tbh.
      Surprised you didn’t see much of a difference between the 1200 & 1250 bud, they are night and day for me?
      As I’m fairly new to BMW, I don’t see anything other than positives so far from my dealer and brand experience. Maybe if you change to something else and see what that experience is like, it may give a different perspective on what is offered by BMW? Or maybe not.
      Biking’s a very individual thing isn’t it 👍

      @@teapotone Yep very much an individual thing. The whole 'grass always looks greener' is why I haven't changed yet. Have a couple of big Europe trips this summer, so lets see if I change my mind after them???? In an ideal world I'd keep the GSA and buy something else as well ;-)
