Thank you, Mr Foreigner, nicely done vid, good survey & informative comments - my favourite at 12:55 lol ;)
Great video, well edited good resolution, nice bike maybe I will install and SC project exhaust for better sound. Thanks,
A bit late commenting, but I recently bought one of these and I absolutely love it!! Still got the GT, but my goodness the R is rather special. Great review and you sound as though you like it too!
That's ok that you were having fun. I was as well while watching. That's what this was all about. Keep up the good werk!
This bike has about a 98% chance of being my first bike. What do you say?
That’s a monster, isn’t it?! Great review. Looking forward to taking my GT over to France in 6 weeks. I have just ordered a Healtech Quickshifter for it so I will let you know how that goes.
Very enjoyable, sounds like my impressions from my short test ride in Newcastle Aus, got to have one by Christmas. You’re a funny man and sounds like you like a drink judging by your obs on the pubs along the way. My first thoughts were this is a real motorbike. 😊
Loving mine. Having changed from an S1000XR I am really enjoying the R1250R. You sum it up very well.
How do the engines of both bikes compare?
@@ExpressionOfNothing The engines are very different. Both excellent in their own way. The S100 engine obviously has more power and you notice this at the top end, but to be honest there is so much power and torque on the boxer below 7K that you never have to go that high to have fun!
Antonio Russell Thank you good sir!
Couldn’t agree with ya more.
It’s like the difference between downhill skiing compared to snowboarding. You simply get so much more out of each hill snowboarding 🤙🏍️🇨🇦
Absolutely love this bike
This is such a nice and great review! I have (since a couple of years back riding a 2012-model) decided to get a R1200R, so thanks for making me even more secure of this choice! Very interested if you (or someone else) has done a comparison between the 2011-14 and this? (Tried the 2015 and didn’t like it as much as the elder one, but haven’t tested the 2019-22 yet…) Also interested in 2019 vs 2021 models, if there’s any differences. Great if you/anyone could help! Also love the looks of the opt. 719 and color…:)) Great vid once again!!
I have the R1200R ! The most underrated beemer !
I’ve mounted a madstad windscreen, handlebar risers and lowered the food pegs !
Doing 500 kms in one day is enjoying!!!
What handle risers did you purchase for your R1200R and how did you lower the footpegs? Thanks!
Pretty clear that you said lots of times that you "love this bike" hehe That's the freedom sensation, much more complete in a naked, that pleases me the most in a ride. Good video, mate! ✌️
Estou ansioso por testar essa mota 😊 adoro
Grande abraço amigo
I usually don't subscribe but I liked your video and camera angles. I do not like cameras on the helmet I prefer the angle not from above but from the cockpit. Nice slow pans. I am interested in this bike and found your video. Thanks
Hello Mr Foreigner, Thank you for your review. I have been bouncing around the boxer line-up and as of yet unable to stick with any one bike as long term keeper. Have owned 1 WC 1150 RT and 2 W 1200RT's, currently have a 2018 R nine T and have been considering suspension and ergonomic mods in order to make it more comfortable. Love the bike but its really for shorter rides and not at all suitable for 2 up riding lunch or dinner rides with my wife. After reviewing all of the mods I was planning on doing it seems like I am trying to turn the Rnine T into the r1250 R. I noticed your 2018 review of the r1200r was not very glowing and your recent review of the 2019 R1250 is far more positive in terms of ride characteristics. Is it really that much better and do you really like the R1250 that much more? Also after riding both the R and the RS which would you prefer. Most of my riding is local with an occasional longer trip. The trips with my wife are short usually under 2 hours with perhaps 1 weekend trip a year.
doesn't seem to pop on deceleration like the old mtr/can but yea thats a reasonable torque increase. I assume the electronic suspension is still Sachs at one end and Marzocchi the other. I doubt i could ever afford one, so i'll just stick to my 2017 R1200R. Thanks
Hi there. Would you pick this over the RnineT Scrambler as an everyday bike with occasional long distance tours?
Would you recommend it for a 6'4 (193cm) tall guy like me? In F900r but already thinking on an upgrade lol. Cheers.
Dynamic is safe it would help you have fun on lovely twisty roads , it can still be tractable for slow riding.
I have a ’16 R1200R and leave it on dynamic all the time, even on gravel roads.
thanks
I sat On one and I’m only 5‘7“ tall and it was OK on the balls of my feet. I would just be afraid to drop such a beautiful bike. Expensive too
There are 3 different seats you can choose from. I’m 5’5” and have no problem with the regular seat.
I'd love a long low C Version.. that new 1800 is too big for me. A power cruiser with sports tyre.. brakes..suspension. boxer R1250RC.
yes please.. a cross between this and the old r1200c
It be even better if the TFT display were located where the Navi holder goes. One more thing to make it perfect: Full LED headlamp.
BMW has an interesting way to price those bikes, if you are not cautious accessories easily make a half of the final bill... A bike for a mature user (not little boys) should I say.
I'm not a large guy, I am on the fence between the R1250R and the 750GS (lighter bikes in their categories). Any thoughts? Thanks!
750gs is not much lighter and the seat is a bit higher. I have a 2016 R1200r with 820 mm seat and have a 28 inch inseam. I'm on the balls of my feet and that's good enough. Being flat footed with both feet at the same time is overrated.
I’m 5’5” 145lbs. I have no problems with the weight or height using the standard seat. Low center of gravity so it maneuvers really well at slow speeds.
I think you should be riding the 1200rt as you don’t seem very happy with the 1200r , you need to put it into dynamic and enjoy.
As an R1250R owner I just found this video and watched with interest to see what you thought of the bike. At the start the first thing I thought was "that looks very similar to my bike"... then when you did the walk around at 0:10 my next thought was "hang on - that IS my bike!" I bought it late summer 2019 (traded in my '15 R1200R) at the dealer I assume you got it from for the test ride. I'm pleased to see you didn't drop it!
The Foreigner it is indeed lovely! My 12R was only on their site for a few weeks so must have been snapped up sharpish. Tbh I didn’t have much need to change, just couldn’t resist the draw of the fantastic dash and extra smoothness of the engine. Shame the BMW R&D dept couldn’t have done something about the hopeless headlight in the upgrade though...
Is the R1250R worth the upgrade over the 1200? Debating between a new 1250 and a used 1200.
Is this bike worth the upgrade from the previous 2018 R1200R?
And between this R1250R or the RS version for an everyday commuting use?
The Foreigner I was riding the F800gs adventure for 5 years, but for the city it was too big and also a bit old fashioned, I rode a couple of times the new 1250gs but I’m not sure because I like all the 1250 range, so I’m waiting to check the 1250rs, I also think is an underrated bike!
The Foreigner waiting for your comments!😉
The Foreigner waiting for your review😉
The Foreigner what a pity
Roberto Ramon I just sold my 17 RS to buy the 20 r1250r. Love the 1250 better than the RS for different reasons. It has a bit quicker steering, a slightly improved engine and transmission and the TFT display. The advantage with the RS is the hiway ride with the adjustable fairing which makes it more comfortable for longer rides. More wind protection by far. It takes a little more effort to throw the RS around. The R is just more fun to ride and no wrist fatigue. You sit a bit leaned more forward on the RS, more upright on the R. I have a GS for my longer rides. The R is more fun and just a bit less versatile. I love the R1250R.
I am already saving...………….
You don’t sound like you love it ??
Useless to me without a windshield.
