    Shaft drive I hope - I've had 2 Boxers R80GS and R100GS. Great to see it has. A centre stand.mirrors look nice.

    Really like my 2015 model, just a shame the frame powder coat is poor.
    Would be interested on a comparison video between the triumph bonneville and the new enfield interceptor 650

    In the sport screen, it's a lean angle meter not rev counter I believe

  • @MrHugawa
    @MrHugawa 5 лет назад +2

    very nice... I always liked the look of that, but decided on the RT

  • @wilko527
    @wilko527 3 года назад +2

    When you look at this compared to the RT, you’d think there would be massive difference in dimensions. They are practically the same wheelbase (about 3cm diff). And the approx same seat height 830mm. Amazing what a bit of fairing does to the mind.

    That's the first time I've head that quickshifter/blipper being referred to as smooth.

      @Baste_Bastesen Год назад

      I think it is smooth, 20.000 km on my R1250R, use the quickshift/ blipper a lot.

    Great review guys! I had the 2016 model for 12 months and 10,000 miles but it didn’t do much for me, pretty unexciting bike but this new one sounds much improved!

    Would have been great to see you take the bike to some faster twister roads and talk more about the handling. Also Toby needs to be heard as we just have quiet patches and answers... Great video as always though

      would have been great to have been able but we are a bit lacking in that part of Cornwall purely due to the location of the dealership. Thanks for the feedback on the audio, we are trying lots of different things to make the audio better... hopefully we will get it right soon :)

    You can also twist the throttle in the opposite direction to disengage the CC. Also, if the CC is engaged and you use the throttle to pass someone, when you release the throttle, it will resume it's set speed.

    Nice review gents, nice bike also.
    I got a quote today 13.05.19 from BMW warranty for a 2016, K1600GTL £455.85 annual cover with emergency service 😩. It sounds steep but if you drop one of these bikes in turn it might just be worth it, I think the headlight cluster alone is + £1k. What think you two?

    • @RiderCamTV
      @RiderCamTV  5 лет назад

      as with anything BMW, their prices are so high nearly all the time. I know for the annual cover for a GSA it is something like £350 to extend it so for a bike that is worth much more and has a lot more plastic fairings to replace in the event of a mishap, it would be worth it.

  • @paulyflyer8154
    @paulyflyer8154 8 месяцев назад

    As a 5'9 shortarse who never goes off road, should i have bought this instead of the gs?

    Is it worth the extra money over the older 1200R model?

  • @anakletor
    @anakletor 2 года назад +1

    R1250R is probably one of 1000 bikes out there better than the R9T. Still I would go for the R9T. :)

    Great looking bike. As far as the muffler, I would change it, because to me, that is a part that doesn't match the rest of the bike. Too much chrome, more for a cruiser. Just my opinion. Cheers

    • @RiderCamTV
      @RiderCamTV  5 лет назад +1

      yeah agree with that, its odd that the can is the same as the RT's can... on a cruiser too

    same pillon seat as r1250rs which is an sport tourer

  • @boblydecker
    @boblydecker 5 лет назад +4

    The reason people change to the Akropovic sport silencer is the stock chrome exhaust is butt ugly. It also sounds better with more snap, crackle and pops on a downshift. It's brilliant.

    • @RiderCamTV
      @RiderCamTV  5 лет назад

      thats true, for me (trying to save money....eeek!) i cant justify the £750 price tags when mine is hidden under the panniers :) but the sound of the pops and crackles is lovely :)

    I tested this bike recently and its great but the absence of wind protection took away alot of the practicality for me, up to 60 fine but making progress all day would be very tiring. Would a screen solve the problem? According to the forums its hit and miss

    • @RiderCamTV
      @RiderCamTV  5 лет назад

      I think you are right David, screens are as divisive as which bike to get, some find issues with tall screens, small screens. I think that a screen would solve the problem but unsure which one would solve it completely. We should invent a way of trying different sizes without having to buy screen after screen to get the right one.

      I have a MRA Vario Touring screen on my 2016 and it works well for me, it's a little noisy but no buffeting and it takes the wind off of my chest nicely.

    It's about time motorcycle manufacturers started to include the same technology used in cars, such as blind spot monitoring (which flashes when there is a vehicle within our blind spot) and perhaps Autonomous emergency braking (which automatically apply the brakes when it detects a potential collision with an object).
    Perhaps AEB isn't needed since we have more room to manoeuvre past a potential collision, so braking may be worse. And blind spot monitoring would work well together with life savers.

    • @RiderCamTV
      @RiderCamTV  5 лет назад

      it would be good to see some of the tech from cards coming across, but the auto braking would be dangerous. Ive driven several makes of new car recently with this feature and the VW's nearly killed me several times when it applied the brakes as it read the car in the lay-by coming to a stop as if it was in lane 1 and i very nearly got wrenched from my seat and hit the windscreen!

  • @simonlutt9849
    @simonlutt9849 5 лет назад +1

    I think the size of that bike is her biggest downside to me. I would certainly like to try it, but then again it's too small!
    But I think that BMW was trying to offer a bike with the boxer-engine for people that won't fit on the big GS and I respect that.
    Sadly it makes the bike quite unrideable für taller people who like to ride upright.
