    At Brands hatch in the UK they ran S1000R and R1250R after 10 lap S was 1.5 second ahead ..... They then swapped rider's R won by just under 2 seconds so down to rider ....

    Yeah I had an S1000R for 4.5 years, got over that 5K rpm at 100kmph (or so). Had a sit on a '21 R1250R on Friday. It said "welcome home" to me. Will be bought in next few days.

    100%! Pure classic-ness. Clean lines and quality appointments, smooth all day comfort and quiet. It’s got what I think has got to be the best TFT screen in the business. Nice overview Anthony. Ride safe and ride often.

    Thank you for this. I recently bought one of these. It does have superb torque and acceleration from low revs. And I speak from experience, for a road rider it is better than a sports bike, where one has to rev much harder. Sports bikes will outclass this thing on a track, but I like riding roads and seeing the countryside. However, I find its fuel consumption to be frugal. I am truthfully averaging 63 mpg, and I do use its power. This gives it a range of 250 miles. Also is has low centre of gravity which is great for low speed use or maneuvering.

    The bike many GS owners should ride. Add the side cases and a screen and it is a sports touring bike. You are feeling the mid range torque. Ride in road mode and it is very comfortable.

      I own the 1200 / 2015 ! Add the madstad screen, lowered the foot pegs and add steer risers !
      So comfy ! I can drive it for hours without any fatigue !

    The ‘R’ models were always solid bikes, I had the R1100R and R1150R, they had soul and very comfortable.

    I absolutely love this bike - I really would like to own this one day. It's kind of a jack of all trades, master of none. Roadster bikes seem fun, classy and comfortable!

    Proper classy, everyday Moto. The Boxer engine is so proven, and the low center of gravity of the engine makes it super rideable everyday. You don't even notice its weight.

    Thanks for the excellent reviews you make. I listened with interest at the comments vs the F900R. I use the F900 for a regular 60mi commute, and at 6' I am starting to find it a bit cramped. I'll look into the R1250 as it seems more comfortable!

      I had to chance to sit on both and compare them at Wild West Honda and it's a worlds difference, the R1250R is so much more comfortable.

    I have the 20 R1250R and love it. It is more flickable, more powerful and more torque than my previous R1200RS. It handles very much like a sport bike. I’m considering a windshield for the longer rides and with the upright position you do need to hang on especially when throttling it as the torque will rip your hands from the grips.
    Love this bike.

      I have a R1250RS. Whatever R1250 you get, you get more than a handful. The engine is sooo good.

    Great video as always.
    So I am looking to trade in my Indian cruiser and trying to decide between the 1250R and 1250GS. I will be using the motorcycle for commuting to work and back, riding around with my son (he has a zx6r), and maybe the odd trip here and there. I do not see myself doing off-roading (may change later but dought it as I am not getting any younger).
    So would you recommend the 1250R or GS?

    Great review Anthony. Having owned the GSA,GS,RT,K1200S,K1300SK1600GT/B and others, this is the swiss army knife in my garage.

      Interesting. I have a 2018 1200GS Rallye which I love. But I had the R1250R as a loan bike and LOVED it. It feels so radically different. I don't want to sell my GS as I like the wind protection (I have tinnitus) but seriously considering one of these as a very indulgent 2nd bike for the city and shorter Sunday blasts. I have an MG V7ii as a 2nd bike just now but it's been problematic so will be getting traded-in. This, or maybe the R Nine T which I'm testing next weekend.

    Kool ride video- I have the 1250 GSA- yes that torque is addictive- if you didn't experiment yet, turn off the traction put er in dynamic and cover your rear brake as you twist- in my opinion, with the traction on it seems bottled up

    I have the previous model R1200R, 125hp and 92 ft lbs of torque, so it's no slouch. Your review of the 1250 is similar to what I would say about mine, esa also (I am only 140 lbs) and you are spot on about the suspension, not a bad thing, though. I like the Tft display on the 1250. The display on mine is ordinary, even with 3 different style options. Looks like NYC from what I can tell. I'm in SF Bay Area.

      NYC, You're right! Having an R1200R in the Bay must be awesome. I was able to ride in San Francisco a few years ago on my RR, gorgeous city.

    Think you could put a touring screen on here and some cases and do a week or two in the saddle? Looking for something to replace my street triple I can actually go the distance on

      Absolutely, everyone's pain tolerance is different but I have a lot of clients that tour on the R. Plus the built in luggage racks only help.

    i have the 2016 R1200R , i had a chuckle when you said you have to be really short not to flatfoot the bike, uhhh.....i still can't even with the lowest seat available , but i use the middle seat option , i added a cage for the boxer engine (gotta take precautions), and a clear wind screen , i get about 50 MPG@ 65MPH , i use the gear shift assist all the time, the gearbox is very smooth, except when going from neutral to1st gear, then 1st to 2nd like any other motorbike, i really appreciate the heated grips.the ESA is something i think needs work , everything is bumpy. i still can lean it into a curve really low without scraping a peg or a boot , it happens though. i can do a 2 car parking space u turn on the R1200R much easier than any of my other previous bikes even my now sold 2017 triumph bobber, i still practice u turns after each ride.

      Glad you are enjoying your R1250R. I agree with your statements, they are amazing bikes. Practicing U-Turns is something everyone should do, even an experienced rider can drop a bike on a simple U-Turn. Keep riding on brother!

      Patrick, I have R1200R, 2015 same as yours. I am 5'5" and use the 820mm seat and am on the balls of my feet. I didn't like the lower seat as it didn't feel ergonomically correct, too cruiserish. Yes it's bumpy, but handles great in the twisties. I put the cage style engine guard (sw motech) and also practice u turns, and sharp turns. I've studied instructions from Motorman Paladino and Motojitsu. I use a Givi windscreen angled back like a sport bike. This way I get decent wind protection and no buffeting.

    Thanks for the review. It was a bit scary watching you ride and seeing things from your view while riding. I have been thinking about this bike, as I have had a fascination about it since it's early days but never pulled the trigger on it. Currently, I ride a Police Road King and have been thinking about going to this bike because it might be a better all arounder. What do you think of the color you were riding vs the black? Also, would you still consider this bike over the RS version with the fairing? Do you think this bike is capable of longer tours if you wanted to go the distance? Also, since it is a naked bike would you take this bike over a Ducati Monster as that is a different kind of naked bike. Or other naked bikes. Thanks

      Hey Paul! I think anytime someone is thinking about making a drastic change from one motorcycle brand/style to another, you should reach out to your local dealer for a road test. I almost always prefer a colored bike over black, mainly because every brand offers a black motorcycle. So in this case, to be able to get a unique matte green such as Pollux metallic, it gets my vote!
      Comparing it to the RS is tricky, it is always a little tougher to tour or do longer rides on a naked bike, but so much of that is reliant on the rider and their "pain tolerance". Having the added wind protection of the RS is almost never a bad thing, it just comes down to personal preference of styling. Taking the R1250R and adding a proper windscreen will definitely help, but may not bridge the gap of wind coverage to the RS, but again, to each their own.
      Depending on which naked bike you compare this too, it will probably win out over most, especially the Duc Monster. But that is also a very differently styled naked bike, so it is a little tough to compare.
      Road test them all if you can, but as I always say, you cant go wrong with a BMW.

      I own the R1250R. There are several touring windscreens (like Wunderlich's) that make this bike a quite capable tourer. The versatility is unbeatable (as long as you dont want to go in the dirt). The RS cant remove its fairings in the summer, after all.

    Boxer is bmw heritage...I've had 1200gs these engines are super good. I own s1000rr but if I were own non sport bmw only thing I would buy is boxer bike.

    I had my S1000R for 3+ years and love it. But, I feel ready for a more tour-roadster with comfort on my hands. Just put a windscreen on it and I’m good to go.

      Check out R1250R for sure, though you can tour on the S1KR with a few key tweaks.

      Thats what i did, had a S1000R for two seasons, great bike but last year I did a swap for the 2020 R1250R! Best decision ever! Simply love it!

    I used to be like you always wanted the fastest bike got a Hayabusa 1300 getting rid of it and getting this bike much better for the street less maintenance no bullshit chain to worry about this is the perfect bike for the street horsepower buys bikes torque wins races and most of all my back and wrist won't hurt anymore.

    It is a great Bike, but it weighs 527 LB. It is very heavy. Much heavier than the s1000 R. Great Video

    Hey Anthony. I need some bmw advice. I am in the process of buying a new bike but I am unsure if esa is worth the additional $50 a month on the finance. I ride solo and use a bike to commute from the subs to the city and to de stress ..... Is it really worth it in a bmw f900r??

      Hey Rik! Great question, though keep in mind the package that dynamic ESA is often attached to includes a few other items, so the increase in price isn't solely the ESA. I always recommend test riding both if you have that option, to see if it's worth it to you specifically. I have dynamic ESA on my GS, and I really wouldn't purchase a bike without it. However the standard suspension on the F900R is great, though a little on the stiffer side. I think you won't regret NOT getting it, but you'd definitely enjoy it if you did. Cheers. 👍

      @@supersportsanthony thanks, I ridden both, love the bike but now there is a fresh on 2020 models it throw up this question from the dealer.... I was like I have no clue on if it makes a huge difference. My main must haves are abs pro, dtc abs, quick shifter, heated grips and rider modes... The dealer has a guest gen demo which came with just these features or a fully loaded 2021.... $50 is $50. Is it safer to have this tech and if so how is it safer?

      The ESA won't improve safer, and abs and abs pro are standard on the F900R so you are safe there. Traction control is another safety feature worth having, ESA could be considered a luxury.

      @@supersportsanthony so I put a deposit on a f900r base model that has been retro fitted with cruise control, heated grips, gear shift pro, and riding modes. Dealer says it defo has DTC and abs pro. Also bmw gave me $900 off the list price plus low financing which is awesome!

    I forgot one last question. What is the difference between the 2020 and 2021 R 1250 R? Is it worth waiting for the 2021 to come out?

      @@p-dub7422 Mineral Grey Metallic and Pollux, but it seems without gold-colored forks. There may be other minor changes, I'd wait for 2021 to check with dealers. The 2021 S1000R in some dealerships still has the "Terminator", un-even headlight, but the "real" 2021 is supposed to look more like the R1250R, AND with TFT screen (maybe mid-2021?), so you never know with BMW. I'd wait a few more months to see the 2021 R1250R in the flesh :)

      I’ve heard that the 2021 TFT will be a little bigger and include a gps navigation system. One of the few things I’m not crazy about with the 2020 is the location of the Garmin mount; you have to look down and take your eyes off the road. Wait for the 2021, the rest of the bike is perfect.

      It depends on what you’re used to. It took 2-3 rides before I was comfortable with u-turns and slow speed maneuvers. But now I feel like I can easily throw it around. LOVE IT!

      Mitt valg ble en ny R1250R, hp farger. Prøvekjørte en S1000R og, men det føltes som en nedgradering.
      Men så er jeg snart 55 år 😎 komfort, pluss den enormt sterke motoren, avgjorde mitt valg. 143 Nm, og shiftcam. Må prøves !
