    For a town populated by very wealthy people, there really is no excuse for the state of the roads. Henley has deteriorated badly since the last time I was there. Loved your test though and your time as a dispatch rider really shows in your riding. It's good to see someone on YT who isn't afraid to use a bike properly.

    I bought mine brand-new in 2020, and it’s by far the best bike I’ve ever owned over the last couple decades.

    Imust admit, I had a 1250 GS Trophy in. ‘23 and thought it was awesome. I’ve just bought an R1250R , put new tyres on it and it’s blown me away. Taken the baffles out of the Akra and it goes like the wind. Love it

    That is THE BMW, the boxer roadster, the direct descendent of the original R32. That’s why they keep making them, though they’re not that popular. It’s the soul of that entire brand. Also why it’s such a good bike. And in today’s market, very unusual. If I ever move away from my R9T, that’ll be the bike I get.

    I've had one for two years and just love it, does everything well a proper all rounder. I put on the taller touring screen from BMW and some hard luggage and short of off road it does the lot.

    You bearly got into the shiftcam..... that bike is fantastic love the veiw, comfort and torque it feels like a roller coaster when stop and go into the 6k rpm range 😀 but also so smooth and refined below 4k.
    I hear the shift cam like its a auto blimp with GP exhast sounds amazing lots of character.

    Awesome video .... SHHH .... it's the secret bmw, that we dont tell the people about because its just brilliant ... we let the normal by gs's and us buy these ... i love my R1250R. i have Triple black 2023 ... The reason it handles so well the changed the fork rake at the end of 2021/22 and played with the gearing inside the gearbox, that's why so smooth thru the gears unlike a gs ... the fork rake is why it seems to drop into bends with ease ... that tiny little screen for some unknown reason works really well. Take it off, and you can feel the wind, lol. If you put it into Dynamic Pro mode, it will wheelie all day long as you have just turned off most of the electrical equipment ... it's one of the best bike's ive owned ... there is a clip of someone taking a S1000R round a track and one of these getting the same lap time's lol

    4th year of ownership of one of these (2021 model). Love naked bikes. They are bikes. If I want comfort, I go by car, though this bike is comfortable to ride. Performance on par with any sports bike, and superb stress free handling. However, it is more like a diesel, low down grunt. Does not need to be revved like a straight 4 (I have had one of these). It just pulls, even in top gear. One downside. Bugger to start in cold weather (same experience with other 1250 engined bikers I have met).

    So if you had to choose just one would it be the R1250R or the 1300GS? I have a R1200R LC (2018) and I love it so does my wife. Always on the lookout for an upgrade though.

    • @lifeisarideuk
      @lifeisarideuk  28 дней назад

      Ok ! WIFE bit a problem if she on the back then it’s 1250 I would say but if not and she rides it then 1300. I have been on the back of a 1300 and it’s not nice never again .

    • @RikBridle
      @RikBridle 27 дней назад

      @@lifeisarideuk Yeah, we took out a 1300 and I think it had the passenger option (not good for the passenger, too high and the grab rails remained low meaning she couldn't brace herself on accelaration). There is a way to configure the 1300 to be more friendly for the pillion, for example the luggage rack option improves the grab rails height with standard seat options. But the configurator is a right pain! I don't see why BMW should sting us for a whole package I don't want just to gain one feature.

    I loved the R1250R. the only thing that stopped me from buying one was the lack of wind protection for them colder/rainy days on the motorway. After slandering sports tourers and bike adventure bikes, i understand why they are so popular now.. they aren't necessarily better than naked bikes, just more versatile.
    1250R was an awesome bike, and it's a shame it's gone under the radar.
    Looking forward to the 1300R.
