🥁Drummer Yoyoka’s BIOGRAPHY🥁
Born in October 2009, YOYOKA started playing drums at the age of two, played live at four, and formed her family band "Kaneaiyoyoka" at five. When she was six years old, she released her first CD while in kindergarten.
In addition to drums, YOYOKA sings, plays the piano, and is a songwriter. In 2018, at the age of eight, she became the youngest weekly champion in the under-18 category of the international female drummer contest "Hit Like A Girl". Her application video, a cover of Led Zeppelin's "Good Times Bad Times" was featured on NBC, NPR, in Rolling Stone Magazine and in Billboard and then spread all over the world. Her drumming prowess has been praised by music legends such as Robert Plant (Led Zeppelin), Ian Paice( Deep Purple), Roger Taylor(Queen), Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters), Sheryl Crow, Gene Simmons and Eric Singer (KISS), Kim Gordon (Sonic Youth), Hayley Williams (Paramore), Sass Jordan, Tony Royster Jr., Brad Wilk (Rage Against the Machine), Derrick McKenzie (Jamiroquai) and many more.
In 2018, at the age of eight, YOYOKA appeared in Japan's famous rock festival "RISING SUN ROCK FESTIVAL in EZO" as the youngest performer ever. The following year, she made a surprise appearance Fall Out Boy’s stage at Summer Sonic Tokyo 2019 in front of an 20,000 audience. Later that year, she was invited to Cyndi Lauper’s show at Tokyo Orchard Hall as the guest drummer for two songs on the last day of her Japan tour.
YOYOKA is endorsed by world-class brands such as Nike, Moncler, and UNIQLO. In 2018, she shot a Nike campaign in Thailand, followed by a Moncler campaign shoot in New York in 2019. She became the face of Moncler alongside actor Will Smith. Both campaigns were launched worldwide and were very well-received.
Already at the age of eight, YOYOKA became the youngest drummer ever to sign an endorsement contracts with drum makers Pearl and VIC FIRTH. Since then, she has also signed with Zildjian, CYMPAD and DW.
YOYOKA’s attention from the world does not stop. In January and May 2018, YOYOKA was invited to LA twice to make an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, one of the most popular show in the United States, where she was praised by Dave Grohl from the Foo Fighters who made a shoutout to her on the show. She also impressed the audience with a successful show at the legendary live house "Whisky A Go Go".
In April 2019, YOYOKA was selected as Newsweek's "100 Japanese People Respected by the World" and "World's TOP500 drummers” by Drummer World, both the youngest in history.
In 2020, Pearl showcased her talent at the 2020 NAMM show in Anaheim, the world’s largest musical instruments trade show. She was the youngest female and only Japanese drummer ever to appear.
The impact of YOYOKA continues to spread worldwide. Her favorite drummers are John Henry Bonham, Chris Coleman, Nate Smith, Chad Smith and Dave Grohl. Her dream is to travel and play sessions with people all over the world.

It still worked. I"m a longtime Satch fan and I didn't even notice.
And yet this still sounded brilliant. Kudos to all three... I remember being at a Wings concert in Chicago Illinois during their Band on the Run Tour and seeing Paul turn back and give the drummer a shrug and sheepish grin during _Live and Let Die_ as he almost came in early on part of the song. This was in the days when audiences sat much closer even to the super bands. We were in a box seat section directly above the band -- almost looking directly down on them.. Great vivid memories... Including Paul looking up several times at our section and giving us a smile and a wink.
We want a Yoyoka + Li-Sa-X band world tour!

They need some songs first don't they? Both of their catalogs for original music are a little on the ultra-sparse side, no?
No one goes on a world tour playing covers unless you're "Zepperella". And both of these kids are way too good of musicians for that nonsense.

@@autohmae I know that. But she doesn't have a catalog of music that would warrant going on a tour with Yoyoka.
That was the point of the conversation.
Even combined they don't have enough original music, popular with the people, to justify going on a tour with each other. That and they have NOTHING original that they've written together.
It's way too early for a tour collaboration like that to happen with them, unless they plan on doing mostly covers.

The girls are spot on here but that bassist, props to that dude, he laid down an album worthy bass line from start to finish, perfect. He always looks like he's just standing in line waiting to get a burger while executing super precise rhythm lines like it's not even a thing >.
That look is from years of waiting in line for good ramen or soba!!

Terasawa is under a lot of pressure. He’s an amazing bassist, but it must be odd working with such talent musicians that are still so young. An amazing performance!

But look at it this way, who else would you rather have with these two young savants ? Having such a veteran as Terasawa involved is exactly the right thing to do to work with these amazing young ladies.

Now that I've been watching like a gazillion of videos with Yoyoka, I know she can play like every song there is. Hence my joy hearing this classic I bought as an LP back in ~1989. The guitarist playing all that stuff by Satriano is of course amazing, but I want to give a shout out to the bassist, whom figures on many of the live recordings with Yoyoka. A totally great bassplayer, and probably underrated.
This brings tears of joy to my eyes, love Satriani and love this team and energy and I love Yoyoka!

I’ve never heard Yoyoka play anything jazzy like that before. Really interesting mix of jazz precision with rock’n’roll intensity. This is really branching out. The guitar playing is insane. Yoyoka must have had an absolute blast doing the 12th birthday sessions. So many of these musicians are so top-notch.

@@chrisegbertky I hadn’t seen that. It’s an amazing performance at seven but it’s a rock beat even though it’s fusion. This is tripleted like classic jazz. Not her usual feel.
