Hey Eric, Thanks so much for doing this. YOYOKA's Army will start showing up shortly...LOL I knew you would love this, who doesn't! Both these girls were child prodigies and ROCK HARD! Li-Sa-X is a born shredder, has her own band and was about 16 y.o. here. This band was formed just for her Birthday. I'm sure they didn't practice much together. The older guys are all big rock stars in Japan. Everyone just wants to play with YOYOKA, and you can tell why. Most of her videos are done one shot one take. This being a studio version, I think was still one take, but they have multiple cameras. In her regular videos she has 3 still cameras, no edits. btw... You are saying YO KOY YA. Pronunciation is YOYO KA (like the spinning top with a string). Thanks again, great job! And I intentionally selected this one so you WOULD notice, the others, especially Li-Sa-X.

I made a note about the pronunciation :) Thanks for that and for putting these talented folks on my radar!

So glad you found my favourite drummer! Yoyoka is a natural born drummer. Her family has a band and when she was barely able to walk she crawled over to the drum kit, the drummer sat her on his knee and that was it, she was hooked. There's video of her at an insanely young age, on stage, playing Led Zeppelin with the family band.
She has received notice from rock legends, including Ian Paice for her cover of Burn, and Robert Plant for her cover of Good Times, Bad Times. Since moving to the US, she's sharpened up her already considerable skill sets even further, playing jazz with some very notable musicians.
I really hope you get to see much more of her work - all of it is worth watching.

@@DrumAttic in her year in California she has been introduced to jazz. Check out the Ken Ocada group at San Jose Jazz. She now has a regular seat on Ultimate Jam nights at the Whisky a Go Go and Narada Michael Walden has hooked up. There are many vids on her own channel of her gigs last summer of her Japan tour. Gives you an idea of where she is now.

She attracts top musicians to play with her. She is at professional level. She sits in at Whiskey a Go Go and one other bar in L.A. doing walk-on no rehearsal performances basically with strangers. As far as I can tell she does it for fun.

She started playing at 2 and was in concerts by the time she was 4. She played a rock festival at 8. She played with Fall Out Boy and Cyndi Lauper. She has 3 albums, the first released when she was 6. Her family has a band that she drums for. Drummerworld magazine has her listed as one of the top 500 drummers. At 8 she was giving RUclips drum lessons, it's really cute. I love her bass triplet video.
There are a few great reactions to her. Robert Plant reacted to her playing Good Times Bad Times when she was 8, and Ian Paice from Deep Purple reacted to her Burn cover when she was 11. He was suitably impressed. She also plays guitar, bass guitar, and the xylophone. My favorite cover by her is Rosanna by Toto. She nails Porcaro's halftime shuffle. She does write her own music.
And yes, Li-Sa-X is awesome. Another great talent. She absolutely shreds.
