Merry Christmas folks, have the best rest of your week🎄❤️
Merry Christmas Welchy 🎄❤️
Happy holidays to you too!
Merry Christmas, I hope you have a great one!💝🎄
Merry Christmas mate ☺️ 🤗(AshaNova)
Happy Christmas!!
I’m going to be completely transparent right now and admit that I, a 20 year old, still listen to the Barbie soundtracks and thoroughly enjoy them. They are great and make me feel like a princess 😌
Can’t lie, the song at the end slapped
@@Welchy it does! If Barbie can do one thing completely right it's the soundtracks!
Amen 🤣 I still listen to that song from The 12 dancing princesses and Dance around like a floating ballerina 😂💃
Same tho
Me too and I’m 24 lmao
Personally, I'd recommend Barbie Princess and the Pauper for a good classic!
To me thats the best barbie movie🤗
YES
I'm still waiting for a team-up between Preminger and Otto. The sass would be epic. It *needs* to happen. 😂
Definitely the best of them all
Yes please, react to this masterpiece!
I died when you predicted the thing about the dresses😂😂
These films haven't aged well, which makes them....an experience to rewatch and make fun of them
It was an experience to be fair ahaha
I think they are the reason why my dreams are so fucked nowadays. Must have watched them to much.
You leave Barbie as Rapunzel ALONE
I cannot believe he skipped the "give him to me, UGH" scene, absolute shame 😔
I was obsessed with these movies as a kid! My favorites were "The 12 Dancing Princesses", "Magic of Pegasus", and "Mermaidia".
U have good taste in Barbie
You have good taste
Yesss same!❤
Those are REALLY good ones. My friends are going to do a Barbie movie night and my vote is going to be 12 Dancing Princesses
Fun fact: they created a nutcracker version of Barbie. Definitely take a look when you can Welchy . Sending positive vibes!
Barbie in the Nutcracker is my favorite Barbie still to this day
It also happens to be the only accurate depiction of the ballet it is based on. I am still mad at Disney for ruining the wonderful chance of having it adapted with top animation and actors. And then Barbie is still the only one that stayed true to the story. Many others tried making that movie adaptation and for some reason they all butcher it.
That movie STILL slaps to this day.
They shilled out for Tim Curry not once but TWICE
The hair brush she found in the box said“our love is as constant as the stars above,”which is why she and her father know that.
There must have been a lot of ghost/dead stars😂
"Never release a prisoner with a lying heart! "
This line has never left me lol.
In all my days, I never thought I'd see the day that you would react to a Barbie film! However, this will be EXTREMELY entertaining nonetheless! 😂
You’re telling me, I don’t even know how this happened 😂
@@Welchy That would most likely be the memes surrounding the ferret and his...vocalizations. 🤣
Edit: Do yourself a favor and watch Princess and the Pauper as well. Preminger is something else!
@@warriormaiden9829 Well since you brought it up, how can he refuse?
I swear, I was shocked but pleasantly surprised as well!😂
@@Welchy well since you started from the very first barbie movie I propose that you might as well continue in chronological order to see the evolution of the grafic... a barbie marathon...
More Barbie content? 👀 some of these films are so fucking iconic
"He just looks like a king who would die!" best insult ever lmao I can't! Imma use that at some point.
Congratulations Welchy, you are now an expert on absolutely all barbie movies!
woooo
This movie is one of my favorite Barbie movies. It's a bit poorly animated, but the story and fantasy are good. I'm 22 years old and i still love Barbie very much. It makes me so happy that you reacted to this one.
I hope you'll react to more Barbie movies. Thank you, Welchy! 😊💖🎨
Poorly? The designs and graphics of this barbie movie are horrible
@@purgeblue Really Captain Obvious? You think a movie, made 19 years ago for TV and not the movie theater, looks bad compared to todays standards ? SHOCKING!
It looked decent back then and most of us grew up with it, so we don't really mind.
@@purgeblue It's a 2002 movie, made for kids, and was shown on TV. Plus this isn't Disney, and most of the older Barbie movies aren't animated that great. When I was a kid (I grew up with the newer Barbie movies) and watched all of these, I found them pretty decent.
9:10 Otto is a ferret in the movie. He belongs to the primary antagonist, Gothel, and acts as her spy, reporting on Rapunzel's activities to her. Despite being a secondary antagonist, Otto is also given a few comedic moments in the movie, often causing mischief that can sometimes help Rapunzel and her friends.
Honestly, I think my favorite part is in the end when he has to serves Gothel 😂
I reccomend Barbie in "The Princess and the Pauper" and "The Nutcracker"
yesss!!!!
My 3 daughters were obsessed with the Barbie films when they were little and can still belt out the songs! The 12 Dancing Princesses was a particularly favorite
That's my favorite. I really love a lot of them up through Princess Charm School
Welchy and the classic Barbie movies in the same context? Now that’s a win win! 😂 Thanks for making this happen, Welch! Much love to you and hope you have a good Christmas and New Year’s 💙
You too Ben!
Thanks Welchy for not shitting too hard on our childhood lol. Some other reactors shit too hard but you manage to keep some respect and appreciation! The animals were always so weird in Barbie movies btw lol and that's coming from someone who watched all the Barbie movies growing up. Wait til you see the sea turtle in one of the mermaid movies.....................
this was my childhood. no lie i was obsessed with these barbie movies when i was a kid, it brings back so many amazing memories. but i know how bad it looks, it came out when i was born and i cant believe how terrible the graphics are 😂, merry chrismas honey, hope you have a good one. sending love ❤
I remember the teacher showing us this movie in 2nd grade. Since Disney didn't come out with their version of Rapunzel at the time this was the next best thing. Even the boys in our class at the time actually enjoyed the characters and the plot.
15:52 single-handedly the best moment in this reaction 🤣 I'm dead
YES! I love it 😂😂😂😂
My childhood! I appreciate that you seemed to really sympathise with Penelope. I hope you'll do some more of them. The Princess and the Pauper and The Magic of Pegasus are probably the best ones.
This is actually my favorite Barbie movie. I watched it SO MUCH as a kid when it came out. XD
I agree, the Baker is the greatest character!
To be fair, Otto is the name of Gothel's minion, and I've always thought he was a ferret. =)
YESSS!! Barbie movies are a classic & no one can tell me otherwise😍 you chose a pretty good one to start and i highly recommend princess and the pauper next
I have never laughed so hard🤣🤣. Barbie Rapunzel was one of my favourite movies as a kid, and gosh darn it Welchy, you've made it ten times better🤣🤣. Thank you and Please do more Barbie movies!!😂
I actually grew up with the early Barbie movies, they're not the best animated, but they're not bad. The story and characters are kinda fun. It helps if you treat the stories like fairy tales. Also, Gothel has a ferret and it's name is "Otto," that's why you thought you heard Rapunzel say otter.
Well... now you need to watch all of them xD
They are honestly preaty good story wise, if you don't look at the quality of the graphics. I bet a lot of people would like them if they would get reanimated.
Also it's wierd that as a kid I thought the animation is amazing :p
Because at the time it was pretty decent, crazy how technology has advanced so much in such a short time
I never thought i’d see anyone actually react to some of the oldest barbie movies. And they are semented in my memories cause my sister never stopped bugging me about her wanting me to watch it with her
I loved this movie's sound design as a child. Watching this VHS and the sound of their shoes on the cobblestones and the painting triggered my ASMR way before I knew ASMR was a thing.
Still a diehard Barbie fan here at 20 years old (the nostalgia is too strong for me to keep down) and I *always* love it when new people react to these movies. I love your humour and commentary timing!
11:56
Absolutely living for the Sokka reference 😌
Merry Christmas Welch🎄🎊🎉
As someone who's seen, I believe, every single one of these Barbie movies😅, I'd like to suggest Barbie Diaries
Ahhh glad someone caught the reference 👊🏼 Merry Christmas!
You and me both...i think i watched every barbie movie..
Fair warning, the animation in that one is even worse
@@anarnarqelion4403 Not a lie 😅😂
But it'll still be a nice watch
Bro u just failed at being a true Avatar lover..... it was a ZUKO reference!!!! SHAME!!!
Back in 2020 I quarantined with my cousin at her place after we both caught Covid and we watched literally every Barbie movie because we were too brain dead to focus on anything else 😅 we’re both grown ass women
I'm a hard-core classic barbie movie fan but even I can appreciate the commentary etc. As even though my love for these films will never waver. I can see where you are coming from about most things. Plus your reactions to the scenes are hilarious 😂
This actually my favorite barbie movie growing up and I was really happy to discovered that you watched it!. It might not have aged well but it was nostalgia gold!
Ahhh I never thought you'd do a Barbie movie. The thought never even entered my mind. You chose one of the very first ones, a childhood favorite! A lot of Barbie movie fans say the best one is Princess and the Pauper (and they're right). If you ever do another Barbie movie, even one, it should be PatP. I'm really glad to see that you went through it with a great mindset--acknowledging that it wouldn't be Tangled but there was still some fun to be had. :)
Barbie as Rapunzel is a story about a girl named Rapunzel who was kidnapped by the evil witch, Gothel. Before Rapunzel was born, Gothel fell in love with the king, Wilhelm, but he only saw her as a friend. When Gothel found out that Wilhelm was married and had a daughter named Rapunzel, she kidnapped the baby and made it seem like King Frederick had stolen her. Rapunzel grew up believing she was abandoned by her parents and was treated like a servant. At the prince's ball, Gothel confesses that she was the one who kidnapped Rapunzel, not Frederick. She did it because of her unrequited love for Wilhelm and wanted him to suffer just as she had.
*Child falls in a hole*
Welchy laughs his ass off
Exactly my Humor😂👍🏻👍🏻
23 huh? Well, I wasn’t sure for several months, now I know for sure😂 merry Christmas Welchy, love the Barbie reaction.🎄 I was obsessed with the movies as a child and once in a while you can rewatch these😅😁
Ahah 😆 Merry Christmas Kathy!
Am so glad he finally watched this one, the progenitor of them all. A little disappointing that we don't know how he reacted to Otto's "give him to me" line.
12:25 yes!! Rapunzel is technically a princess but Gothel kidnapped rapunzel as a baby
To be honest, this was one of my favourite Barbie movies as a kid... but I still would watch it if it was on today. Anyways glad you enjoyed this, Welchy and hope you have a wonderful Christmas my, dude! 😁👍❤🎄
No way, I litterally watched these and the other 3 old barbie movies. These movies and especially The princess and the pauper have such a special place in my heart. I just smile the whole way through and laugh so hard at the cringey parts 😂😂
He said above the year of 2005 and it legit took my brain a second to realize he meant 06 and up xD not 04 and back LMAOOO
Also my fav things about these movies that I adored as a kid was that the movies looked like they were made using Barbie dolls xD which made it easier to use the dolls to act out the movies with friends 😌👌🏻 especally since these movies usually had Blooper reels because as the titles say its Barbie AS, so in the canon all the “Barbie As” movie are movies in the barbie universe that Barbie is acting in 🤣
Also also: Pineapple on pizza is good IMO, and anyone who says fruit shouldnt be on there then y’all better stop using tomatos in your sauce cause thats a fruit lmao. Multiple cultures eat Cheese, Fruit & Bread together so why shouldnt Pizza work 🤔
I agree with everything here 🤣🤣🤣
@@G1itt3rSpark1z You have great taste in comments 🤣🤣
Don't much care for pineapple on pizza, but the fruit thing I'd accurate and so is everything else, fully agree, loved Barbie movies when I was little. Parents didn't much care for them though so I didn't stay hooked for very long XP
@@wolfishpotato6978 i def think pineapple on pizza is an aquired taste but its not the strangest fruit ive seen on pizza xD Ive had one with Mandarin oranges as a little kid
This movie came out a year after shrek. I think making the animation this way was an actual active stylistic choice for who knows why - I guess maybe to make them look like dolls moving? To save money? All the movies are like this and I have very vivid memories of my younger sister loving the princess and the pauper movie and it giving me a headache lol
We need more barbie reactions!
Soon! ;)
I havent seen this movie in YEARS. this is such a throw back.
I grew up with this version of Rapunzel and I prefer this one. The dresses' scene is my favorite in this movie.
My little sister had the Barbie doll with a musical hairbrush who played the short song of the scene where the hairbrush turn into a paintbrush.
If you don't remember, Rapunzel knew the words about the stars in the sky, because it was writting on the back of the hairbrush.
i've seen and collected every barbie movie/game and doll since i was 9. (stopped at 15 years old). barbie as rapunzel has THE BEST SOUND EFFECTS out of any film, in my opinion.
Cmon Barbie is ICONIC. 🤣🤣
Considering Christmas is right around the corner, I highly reccomend checking out Barbie in A Christmas Carol! Unironically a really great film in its own right, as well as adaptation
Omg THIS is the video for the day?! I never thought this would be the video lol
This is one of my favorite Barbie movies (magic of Pegasus and the Fairytopia trilogy being my actual favorites) and was my favorite Rapunzel for the longest time…until Tangled came out lol
I don’t blame you 😂
This wasn't as bad as I expected tbh, I acc really liked some aspects of this film lol, i.e.:
- the darker tone (kinda like Anastasia or Road to El Dorado)
- Gothel's magic 1:42 5:36 5:45 11:51
- Gothel getting trapped in her own spell 11:51 15:41
- the animal companions being able to speak & hving their own side story 4:11 13:45
- Rapunzel getting to keep her blonde hair (which is her iconic look lol), etc.
Tangled was definitely a million times better than this (especially the animation 0:20 0:38 1:33), but I'm curious what a remake that combined the best parts of both stories could've looked like lol.
I still love this movie as a 22 year old and I sing rapunzel's mother's lullaby to my infant class at nap time :)
The "Constant as the Stars Above" line she shares with her father she learned from the inscription scrawled on the magic hairbrush IIRC. (What a sentence that is.)
YESSSS!!! Old Barbie movies are amazing, and I 100% recommend watching others :)
Edit: purple
Same! 🟣
I don’t know how this happened and why he decided to watch this movie but I’m all for it I love the Barbie classics
This literally made my day, I'm so happy you reacted to this! Barbie movies were my childhood.
I’ve been waiting all day for this! Thank you for revisiting my childhood with a classic 😁❤️
This movie was from 2002 so of course the animation is old and I can’t believe u watched it man & got your thoughts right. I will always love this Barbie movie, u should try another one Welch and see how the animation is different. Marry Christmas 😊☃️
You should start this as a series because I have so many recommendations😭
(Top 3)
-Princess Charmed School
- A Mermaid Tale
-The 3 Musketeers
(The rest I watched)
-12 Dancing Princesses
-Pearl Princess
-Diamond Castle
-A Fairy Secret
-Princess and the Rockstar
Love barbie movies! The old ones are gems!! I grew up with them and still love them with 25. Swan lake, Rapunzel and the princess and the pauper are my favorites.
This movie has still the best transformation scene for me
11:11 this singing was essential for all early barbie movies i swear to god
This is one of my favourite Barbie movies of all time
Same and I love the soundtrack.
Barbie and the diamond castle + Barbie the twelve dancing princesses are a must watch also my favorite color is blue literally every shade of blue
I recommend barbie Princess and the pauper, diamond castle, and the whole fairytopia series
Barbie and the island princess! Highly recommend Welchy! More interesting storyline
This and Barbie in the Nutcracker... ugh such nostalgia
I wanted that magic paint brush so damn bad 😭
I am not a Barbie fan but I remembered watching this film along with The Nutcracker during my childhood. What really struck me at the time (and still do) was the score and the magic paintbrush. CGI could have made some improvement (look at how far we have come).
If anybody watches Inuyasha, I will never get over the fact that Sango and Sesshomaru's English dub VAs are involved in this movie.
It's been so long since the last time i saw a barbie movie, if you want to react more try "Barbie: The Island Princess"!! It's one of my favorites!! together with this and the "Barbie: Diamond Castle" 😍 They're literally the best for me
Some of my favorites: the Princess and the Pauper, the Magic of Pegasus, the 12 Dancing Princesses, the Island Princess,, Christmas Carol, this one, Nutcracker, Swan Lake, Mariposa and her Butterfly Fairy friends, Fairytopia (2005)
"holy daddy" I will never be the same after hearing that😂😂😂
PLEASE MORE BARBIE CONTENT I LITERALLY GREW UP OBSESSED WITH THESE FOR NO REASON
If your gonna watch some Barbie movies I highly recommend Barbie in Swan Lake. It's kind of insane the amount of nostalgia I got from watching this reaction. I have such fond memories of early Barbie movies when I was a kid
This was hands down the best video I have watched on RUclips in a loooong time =D
I laughed really hard at your comments!
Thank you very much and Hej from sweden ;) hehe
Okay this was hilarious! Please watch more Barbie movies!
Your Barbie react videos are so funny😂 Can't stop laughing, amazing🙂
11:11 you hit that PERFECTLY 👌😂
12 dancing princesses is definitely my favorite. I got hit by nostalgia seeing this. Guaranteed it didn’t age the best but still.
OMG throwback to my childhood years when this was one of my favorite barbies because she knew how to paint 🎨And I'm saying this while painting a dog portrait 🐶
I vote that his commentary should be put in the special features of every Barbie movie.
Growing up before tangled came out, this was my rapunzel story
this specific movie has always been my favorite. I think I had it on VHS and I would watch it all the time for the painting scenes lol
One of my favorite movies growing up! Great reaction Welchy, happy holidays, and love from Argentina :)
Ps.: I recommend the nutcracker, the princess and the pauper, Swan Lake, the diamond castle and the 12 dancing princesses next... Also, I am an old Gen Z so I grew up with all of this 😅😅
Omg I didn't remember it having this bad of graphics! I used to love this and barbie swan lake as a kid. Merry Christmas to you too David 😄🎄❄️
I love these movies still so much, grew up with Dutch dubs, watched some of them in English and I watched Princess and the Pauper in German since I also speak that pretty well.
It's so weird looking back at these old Barbie movies and realising how low the animation quality actually is. When I was little, I thought this was a visual masterpiece lol
this was literally the first movie that i remember and the one that was my favourite barbie for a long time.
I just got serious flashbacks to when I was watching this with my best friend when we were kids-
Merry Christmass Welchy hahahaha having 4 younger sisters I had to watch every single one of these movies and as a kid I actually thought these graphics were good hahahaha, that being said (this is actually my favorite version of the original rapunzel!)
Hahaha I can imagine that! 😆 merry Christmas Gabriel!
Otto is a ferret. Which is a kind of weasel. Not an otter. Which is also a kind of weasel lol
11:22 Gothel's plan in Barbie as Rapunzel was to keep Rapunzel locked up in her tower, preventing her from fulfilling her dream of becoming an artist and seeing the world. She pretended to be Rapunzel's mother in order to control her, and used her as a servant to clean the tower and create paintings for her. Gothel also never wanted Rapunzel to marry the Prince Stefan, without caring about her wishes and feelings. Ultimately, Rapunzel defied Gothel's plan and found a way to escape the tower with the help of her friends, including the mischievous ferret named Otto.
She doesn't seem to pretend to be her mother because Rapunzel calls her " Madam "
I freaking screamed when I saw this pop up omg I watched this a million times as a kid!!
Swan lake and princess and the pauper!! The next two best! Hope to see a reaction to them soon! 🤩🥰
This was such a funny solid reaction I so want to see more of like the Barbie movies but also the 101 Dalmatian franchise from the cartoons to the live actions I just can see all the reactions and I'm here for it lol!
Just instantly predicting everything right😂 loved it
Have a merry Christmas everyone:)🎄
Merry Christmas! :D
When you watch one of the classic Barbie movies, you gotta watch them all. Please do Princess and the Pauper next. 😂 Happy holidays Welchy!💖
This needs to become a series now 😂
absolute banger of a barbie movie to start with. 100% recommend watching princess and the pauper next for top tier storytelling and music, it's so good I wrote an essay on it for my degree
Princess and the Pauper, The Twelves Dancing Princesses, Swan Lake, Nutcracker... you have to watch them all. Classics.
4:26 I also laughed at that. It caught me off guard that it made me start laughing hard
