If you've watched our previous videos about settings to turn off now, you may have already done many of the steps in this video. However, when you update your iPhone, a lot of these settings get turned back on. There are also a handful of new iOS 14 settings you should turn off too!

1. you dont need to leave background refresh on to receive notifications for texts
2. you should probably also dig into the different Siri settings when talking about saving battery life
3. same with Push instead of hourly refresh as an example

Through Settings you can slow down the video. That's what I did.

I wish you would go slower. I usually have to rewind and rewind to make sure I’m on the same page as you guys. I also find it helpful to show us your phone screen as you go through the settings...thanks. I’m learning a lot😷

What would be really nice and helpful is if somehow you’re able to run a test with the settings on you know to show hey you can get another 2% battery life by turning all these things off. Or also just more clarity on exactly what does these different settings knew exactly and how it really actually doesn’t prove our really doesn’t improve performance for your cellular device.
I understand having the contract tracing feature turned on however, you need to have the app downloaded by your state or government with those settings turned on for a contract tracing otherwise what’s the point of having it turn on because he won’t be notified unless you have an official app that is using that technology. So it seems like having it turned on is pointless without the app so might as well turn off

thank you guys I was really freaked out with getting a notification at the same time every morning , saying "your work rout is clear today 14 minute ride" and when I type my address it would say home without me ever putting the address as my home, Also it would randomly notify me how many minutes I am from home.That was enough data collecting for me to not want my iPhone tracking me. I didn't not know how to shut it off till now.Thanks again very well appreciated.
Through some correspondence with the feedback app I found out that several widgets may rely on “significant locations” being turned on. The Apple Watch handwashing app also relies on this setting being turned on. Several privacy videos out there recommend turning this setting off, this will cause issues with some newer beta features

With ALL RUclipsS you can control the speeds (faster or slower) by adjusting the "playback speed" tucked away by the 3 dots in top righthand corner. (Very useful when you're in your 80s and everything slows down 🙄🤞) When you are trying to put the instructions into practice, pause the video so you can do as recommended. ✍️😯

also turning off Notifications saves battery too. I have noticed a huge battery life improvement once I turned off Notifications.

@@iWillRun_ even though you dont get notifications, the program is still running in the background checking for notifications and the apps you have notifications for constantly refresh checking for updates wasting your battery.

Guys, thanks for making this video and the "Turn On These 10 iPhone Settings." My brand new iPhone 12 Pro had been a battery draining disappointment, for the first 3 days of ownership. Yesterday, after following both of your videos, I turned it off, and then back on before charging it. The 100% charge has held so well since.

Hey guys, many thanks for the info. Many of us seniors don't need all the BS on our iPhone. Our usage is mainly Calls in and out, Facetime, Messages, etc. Too bad Apple has not addressed the Seniors needs. Thanks again
If you turn off significant locations and system customization under location services, optimized battery charging won’t work. It says it on apples website and it’s true.
Weird that knowing my significant locations has anything to do with optimizing my battery charging 🧐
Kaela Diaz It was weird at first for me too, but it actually makes a lot of sense. The phone needs to know what your home is and where you actually charge your phone. This also helps it figure out at what time you stop charging and where you are when you stop charging it. It helps it understand when it needs to charge straight to 100 as fast as possible and when it needs to charge to 80 and then slowly to 100 until this specified time. This also changes over time depending on the change in your routine and how better te accuracy gets on the system. It’s very accurate in my experience and has gotten better over time.
That’s kinda like a blackmail feature. Having it off is totally worth it for me.

Really appreciate your efforts gentlemen - speed of videos is perfect - i just pause with the screen shots up and am where I need to be. I noticed that wallet stopped notifying me of spend alerts on a card once i updated to ios14. It used to alert me every time it was used - now I only get alerted if using apple pay. Any idea if there is a setting I need to adjust or if it's a glitch or a change they made with update?

Kizzy ddd Apple Store. But sometimes other retailers are even bigger in discounts. Sometimes you’ll get very good prices. Friends of mine are always doing this. Waiting for the newest iPhone and then they’ll grab the earlier models, because they don’t need the fastest, newest and best model. Saving some cash is always nice
because they never cost as much as they sell them for

If you experience battery drain, backup your data, wipe your iPhone and restore it to the latest iOS14 version. It says apple on their website, I tried it today and it helped me too. Fully recommend it

I have the same phone as you . I’m not sure if you received an answer, but I found it in Privacy - Location Services - scroll to the very bottom of the screen, and it should be there. Hope that helps...

Chad Riddle If you recently updated usually the phone has a lot running in the background the first day or so. Wait a couple days see if it’s still having a battery drain issue. Also you could try doing what’s called a hard reset on your phone you can Google how to do that for your specific model. And that could help with any battery drain issues that you have going on as well sometimes. Finally, it just made me time to replace the battery if you go to battery health and battery capacity if it’s close to 80% Apple recommends getting that battery replaced.

That sounds like a RUclips ad and unfortunately, you can't turn those off. It sounds like you might be using a slow internet connection? Give Wi-Fi a try, and thanks so much for watching!

Just hit pause, make the changes on your phone and then hit play until their next suggestion.

Great stuff. It would be real helpful if you could move a bit slower and show the iPhone full screen instead of cutting back to you both. I am a kind of set it and forget it guy. I have a car with a urge amount of settings. I set it up a year and half ago and have changed 3 things since. Forgive that I am an older guy!

There’s an issue with turning off System Customization bc if you turn it off your phone won’t go into Night Shift.

With background app refresh off for messaging apps you’ll still be notified of a new message. That’s not how this feature works

Subscribed. If you have not done a video on what “Apple devices near you” means and works, please do so. My wife has a 2013 MacBook Air, an iPhone 6, and a year old iPad. Strange things happen with email and iMessage. For example, if my Granddaughter calls her (not me as well) I get an incoming call notification if I’m using my iPad 10.5. Huh? Recent resurrection of trashed emails on her MacBook and warning of approaching data limits (she does not use iPhone except as a phone, with truly rare exceptions) bugs her and she complains to me of course. Will see if your videos are helpful, hope they are. This one was clear and to the point which are the two things I love, besides accuracy. Thank you.
