Thanks so much, your videos are clear and concise. As a senior owner of my first iphone, no one takes the time to explain in detail the importance of battery life, apps, etc. etc. Keep up the excellent work. You've made this senior a happy one, didn't need to attend classroom instruction!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I like how some apps try to get you to say yes to tracking by saying “no, I would prefer to see less relevant ads” because it’s trying to say “are you sure, do you really want to see ads that aren’t right for you.”
Many of these settings I already had turned off such as “personalized ads” but I’ve still had very personal ads for a long time. I’m guessing there’s other hidden things that we can’t actually turn off and access 🤔
Even better, most companies try very innovative ways to still generate and link data together. Settings like these do have some effect but certainly are not the whole picture. There is mechanisms like lookalikes, re-targeting, matching anonymous audiences with known audiences based on hashed personalized data .. and the list goes on. Companies do not respect your privacy and the law is not able to keep up with the innovative ways to workaround existing laws. Apple is no hero in shining armor here just because like facebook they try to create app campaigns that give you the illusion you have any control over your privacy and data. (If your country even has anything like proper data privacy laws in place)
A company can still track what you do within their system. So facebook or amazon can still build a profile of you based off of your activity within their site, they just can’t as easily follow you across the rest of the internet
Thanks guys, this really helpful to me, although I’ll have to watch this many many times to understand what you’re trying to explain. I grew up before technology and feel like an idiot. I’m sick of asking my friends and especially my 2 teenage daughters to sort me out. I want to figure this stuff out myself. I have to say the way you are presenting your content seems very understandable. Thanks again. Donna from Australia 🇦🇺

Appreciate these tips. One bit of feedback: In the section about personalized ads, there is some misinformation. Opting out of personalized ads will not result in the ad platform skipping sending you an ad. You are correct that highly targeted campaigns will not bid on your impression, but there are always lower valued ads with looser targeting parameters. The ad platform will just send you a lower value, less targeted campaign. Source: 10 years digital ad platform experience
What it means is you still get ads .... but they will be non-personalized ... meaning you could get ads for machines to harvest cranberries to baby powder to wood cutting tools .... in other words ... you just get random ads ... and like they said, you become less valuable for them to track, bid on, etc.
I know this is an older video but watching this has informed me a lot and your comment has helped me understand targeting much better. Thank you Charles!

Yet just the app itself takes up 10.7MB of data space on my phone. I would seriously prefer to have that space open for something I CHOOSE. Help?? And THANK YOU for this video!!
I generally don't use my Iphone as a phone and usually turn off just about everything. Bought used and refurbished to use as an Ipod with larger capacity than the largest capacity they ever offered for sale and as a bonus even used it seems to have a longer lasting battery. Now I can again keep all of my audiobooks on a device I keep with me with room to spare for future growth in my collection. I doubt I'll ever need any of the other apps so just like my old Ipod I'll uninstall just about everything on the device. I suppose if the phone actually use ever dies I may reactivate the Iphone as a phone but I still doubt it. I really prefer to keep my books on a separate device than my phone to preserve the phone battery for phone use as I often listen to books all day long and don't want to be caught short on phone life.

Ty!
Yay!!! New subscriber here! Question:
Can I remove iTunes Accounts and iTunes Media Services from my phone? I NEVER USE THEM and NEVER WILL. Yet just the app itself takes up 10.7MB of data space on my phone. I would seriously prefer to have that space open for something I CHOOSE.
Help?? And THANK YOU for this video!!
What about 'Low Power Mode'? I assume that that turns off loads of automatic updates. But I'm no expert. What is the answer? Thanks
Thank you for the helpful videos. Just to add, for some iOS devices, perhaps older versions, where you have cellular, it would say “mobile”.
Thank you soooo much guys for your valuable info!
You can’t acces the significant locations list anymore, it only shows the last 3. Why tho?
I just watched all the harry potters this week lmao. First time seeing a reference of it to.

Thanks you guys were such a big help
Wonderful, informative and clear to understand. Thank you both so much.
Thank you 😊 I've been looking for this
