    Thank you so much for going the extra mile and doing this for your viewers. It helps so much for people that are not in the area but do visit or have property in the area. Good thing we have the technology that we do. I live in GA but I have property in FL. I was worried about my property in Crystal River, (which I know you guys have visited 😊), through a friend that lives over there, I was able to see via FaceTime exactly how things are. Everything is well (at least in my area) even though there are areas that are flooded😔. You guys stay safe. God bless all 🙏🏼

      @@Explorcation Downtown St. Pete left much to be desired back in the day (I graduated from Boca Ciega in 1987 as a time reference!) Roser Park was a broken down neighborhood, and when I left in 1990 the gentrification process had started there, in addition to certain parts of St. Pete. What I miss most are the tiny beachfront hotels, which have given way to massive, impersonal hotels. 66th Street was nothing but farms in the 70's; in fact, there were a lot of areas (especially Pinellas Park) where horses were everywhere! Glad the Pier was redone, along with the Vinoy! Was going to buy a house on 11th Avenue NE just down the road from the waterfront, for a whopping $44K! Now, that house is worth an unbelievable amount of money. Dang!

    Thanks for updating us on the situation there! I'm glad you guys are safe. While I'm sure some people are worse off than others, this didn't seem as bad as Hurricane Ian. Since I was in Florida at the time, I know! I was pretty much locked away in my hotel for a few days before places started to open up again. My mom definitely had me questioning whether moving to Florida was the right move (still haven't made the move, unfortunately) but I think you basically have to pick your poison. Would I prefer a foot of rain or a foot and a half of snow (which we often get up here)? Just a few weeks ago, I got caught in a rainstorm in MA which I wasn't expecting to be bad and had to drive through flooded streets in my little sedan with white knuckles. I imagine you guys have no regrets moving to Florida? By the way, I scrolled through some of the comments to see if you answered my question anywhere else (about regrets) and noticed that you guys have a few haters/trolls. Congrats...you made it! 🤣🤣🤣

    • @angelaaaa224
      @angelaaaa224 8 месяцев назад +1

      I actually had the same question. Although we moved to Fl a month ago from Midwest, still figuring it out!🤭

    • @Explorcation
      @Explorcation  8 месяцев назад +2

      Hey Tonya! It's great to hear form you. Ian was definitely worse than Idalia for St. Pete in terms of wind, rain, and power outages. What was a bit strange about Ian though was that it actually sucked the water out of the bays, so there was almost no flooding here, whereas Idalia pushed the water into the bay and did result in some flooding. It's really interesting how one hurricane can effect an area so differently than another.
      Yes, we agree that you have to pick your poison wherever you live. We both came from the midwest (tornado country), where a storm can wipe out your home with just minutes of notice. With a hurricane, you at least have days to prepare (and get out of the area if you chose). That being said, if you own a home or business in the area, leaving it behind not know what you'll return to is incredibly stressful. We are thankful to just be renters now; it really makes hurricane season significantly less stressful.
      Yeah we still have no regrets on moving to FL, although there have been some changes over the years that we don't love. We don't feel like St. Pete is the hidden gem/bargain that it used to be, but we do still love living here and it's fun always having new things to check out.
      And yes... our hurricane related videos definitely got pushed out to a much wider crowd, which means more views and subs, and more trolls/haters! It is strange to say, but we actually really love seeing the troll/hater comments, because we usually only get them on our most successful videos. If we could have 1,000 troll comments a day, we'd absolutely love it 😅

    • @Explorcation

      I don't think the flooding was bad in Indian Rocks Beach, but there was some pretty significant beach erosion and many of the beach accesses will likely be closed for some time.

Having been in a cat 2 in mobile, al I can attest there is a huge difference between 2-3 & 4-5 when it comes to that horrible structural devisation/flood water height. still sucks for those worst affected🙏. Looks good. Used to live in Beach Dr NE and the coconut palms would all fall down with just a simple storm with avg winds. The park looks good too. They should have been cleaning those palm fronds out with our tax dollars and all those gov park employees driving around in golf carts. Streets barely flooded. Used to be a river for days. Maybe people will move so we can go back home?

I am from your previous FL city, so not too far away. We moved down last year . We just got a ton of rain today and some wind. We are further inland. We didn’t have any flooding. It may have been because the lakes and rivers were so low from the drought. Take care.

    All good, America will always build back better than ever, till finally they realize, you can’t build in flood plains. Get away from the ocean , well above sea level. However far inland that means.
    The worst is still coming, so ( did you learn anything yet????) not likely, same crap over n over again. ( but you will build back better than ever)🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
