Hurricane Ian - Before/During/After the Storm in Islamorada FL Keys (We got lucky)

- In this episode I show everyone how we prep the boats and marina for Hurricane Ian. We only caught the outside bands of the storm in Islamorada so we were very lucky. Unfortunately the west coast of Florida got absolutely hammered with the storm. Our prayers are with them and we hope they can rebuild and recover over time. There’s a number of great organizations helping out and the west coast will need all the help the can get. If you’re in the position to make a donation I personally know South East Rescue and Relief and they have helped many people over the years. I will link below if you’d like to make a donation to them.

Mom is in Bradenton, I talked her and her 93 year old husband into going to a shelter. Thankfully she got out next day and went home. No damage, had power. Her husband passed out as they were leaving the shelter and spent a couple days in the hospital but apparently ok. Very lucky! 60 miles south, pretty devastated.
Glad to hear they are ok. Hate to hear about the overall destruction on that coast
@@StanzFam thank you. Yep south of them really caught the brunt. Almost everyone I know has a connection to Florida and is effected some way by Ian. Bad deal. Glad you made it through with minimal repairs needed.
It’s good you convinced your parents to go to a shelter where they would be looked after & get helped if needed! Their very lucky there home is intact!
Sending blessings✨ to Everyone out there encountering the hurricane! 🌀
Hope Everyone is able to Stay Safe!🤞🏼
I'm sorry for all you Floridians Ian is one terrifying disaster
Hart Break west coast FL . From Texas many prayers ...More Fenders and More !
Hey bro everything OK there I love to see you fishing every time I go to the RUclips I hope you and your family OK I am from California I see in Florida hurricane season I feel bad and I hope you family OK my name is Jack I want you update video on Florida I want to see every time you update your video and thank you so much God bless Florida
I did some crazy things while living on the boat in the keys. Then I saw what Hugo did to P R and SC so when Andrew came, I tied off in the canal east of Jewfish creek and the Anchorage, then got out of Harms way.
Boat survived and so did we.
If you get your truck salty or sandy.......put a lawn sprinkler under it....run it for 5 minutes...then move it....repeat, a lot. It gets all the angles!!
Going to visit the ocean is awesome. Having the ocean come visit you, not so much.
Thoughts and prayers for all those affected by this horrific storm
🙏🏻
Awesome of you to help your neighbors boats during the bad part of the Hurricane
Praying for all of Florida. So sad to see all of the devastating destruction of people's lives and property. So happy the stanzfam is ok. Prayers for SW Florida God Bless you all
🙏🏻
🙏
Nick, it’s amazing to watch yours and Sarah’s dedication to your passions. Thankful for the minimal damage, and that all are safe. Prayers for the west coast.
🙏🏻
That's a good Marina there, taking care of boats during the storm to alleviate worse headaches even later.
Glad you’re all good!! Prayers to all others who were not so lucky!

I was watching CNN a few days ago and had a chuckle. They were showing a few yachts that were washed inland after the storm. Their mooring lines were perfectly intact. Then they panned over and you could see the yachts had ripped up the pier to which they were attached and dragged it like an anchor.
The problem is that the only thing keeping that concrete pier in place was its own weight. When the storm surge came, the yachts floated and their lines pulled up the concrete pier. Then both the yachts and the pier, still attached together, washed inland. Which goes to show that the you can have the strongest lines and best knots but if you tie them to an object that won't hold firm then it doesn't mater.
My town in St. Augustine had flooded really badly from Ian. But we did good. Glad everyone is safe
My husband & I were supposed to leave next Saturday for a week in St. Augustine-sadly canceled. 😢
@@jannywanny2201 St Augustine back to normal now. I went the day after the storm hit and it was dry and clubs were packed.
@@savagecabbage1594 I’m glad for St A but sad for me cause we canceled. 😢
I'm in Jacksonville Florida and I gotta say we were LUCKY. My prayers are for south Florida.
🙏🏻
Awesome, spent 6 days on Islamorada in June 2022. Finding this video was personal to us. Love Islamorada and I'm glad that you all survived and THANK YOU for making this video, I appreciate you taking the time to narrate the video for us vacationers or interested viewers. We send you our very best wishes to you and your family and Islamorada from Sacramento, California. Special prayers to the west side of Florida.
Thanks! Hope you make it back here to the Keys again. Prayers to the West coast of Florida for sure
You guys looking out for all those boats just speaks volumes of who ya'll are as human beings! Glad you all are ok!
Thanks. Some of the boats are ours and then some are the charter boats that lease slips. Almost Everyone watches out for everybody down here, whether the boats where there or in the mangrove canals. Overall a big fishing family
Nick and Sarah...thank you for letting us see what it's like for y'all riding the storm out. My heart hurts for the loss of life, the utter devastation to Fort Myers, Sanibel, Cape Coral and Naples. I honestly can't begin to imagine what they are going through right now. Prayers for them all as they go through this.
It was definitely worse there than we thought. We are seeing more videos and pics everyday. Hoping for the best for everyone impacted by the storm 🙏🏻
@@StanzFam As are we. My husband is from Miami and frequently talks about moving somewhere to the Florida coast once we are both retired. I just don't know. I don't think I have the intestinal fortitude to go through what they are right now.
We watched the latest Bluegabe video. You could hear the frustration in his voice that they were run out while trying to help.
I just couldn’t watch some of this video when you and Sarah were out on the docks in the middle of the storm. Sooo frightening. I am in awe of your courage and constant dedication. As well, you are the best parents ever. You are all always in my prayers!
I'm really glad to see you guys got off lightly. But I'm also praying for those who were really affected. Look after yourselves.
🙏🏻
That Florida Mullet is looking fantastic. Now that’s a Florida Man.
Great footage ! So glad you guys didnt get pummeled like ft. Myers and pine island.
Glad you guys are all good!
Wow…you are all hero’s helping…bless you!
That x3 is sick!
Young man, you have a beautiful soul! God bless you and your family.
Thanks for your updates so glad you guys are safe and secure!!!
Thanks dee. Praying for the west coast 🙏🏻
Thanks for sharing, glad to see you are all safe.
continue to be present on a friend's channel, listen to it and never just watch it. keep it up friend.

Awesome video. Cool to see all the prep you do. Your narration and documentation was as good as any news service!
Been watching the new here in Australia feel for all of you in Florida keep strong .
Islamorada is my favorite place on earth. I’m so happy to see you guys made out ok❤
Thanks for the coverage of b4, during and the aftermath of Ian....good video
Long may it be, captain, God save you from the worst.. Greetings from Turkey..
Thank you for the update, I've been concerned about all of you.
We have seen you hunker down for previous storms, after watching the news of Ft. Myers my concern grew.
Man, ol' dudes surf style windbreaker takes me right back to the early 90's. Had one just like it !!!!
👍🏻
God be with Florida!
So sad for many I know the feelings with these big storms. Lived on the Texas Gulf Coast for many years. Just happy you and yours are safe and sound. Take care be safe and God bless ole son. ✌
Glad you guys are safe and thanks for keeping us updated. You have been through it so you can really understand how lucky you guys were this time. Stay safe and keep up the great work and we will see you in Dec :)
Thanks 🙏🏻
Great video Nick, constantly going back to the marina to check on things is so important. I’m sure you informed people on re-checking things because of the constant changes in the storm.
Thanks Steve. We dodged a bullet on that one. Praying for the west coast of Florida 🙏🏻
Praying for everyone we stayed in the house at Bud N Mary's Marina in April of this year but before that we stayed on Estero Beach off of Fort Myers and we are absolutley heart broken to see the destruction off of the west coast. This was one heck of a storm my goodness!!! Former Floridian here this absolutely saddens me to see. Will be back in Florida my beloved adopted home state later this month bringing some love with us for you all effected by this! We will continue to pray for everyone!
Glad to hear that you guys are okay 👍 and safe. I watched Blue Gabe's video on my way from Lake Charles, LA to Bartow, FL to help my Brother and sister in law out. Thanks for sharing your experiences.
Jan Stinson, RUclips Subscriber
Thanks. We got lucky it missed here , but praying for the people on the west coast that got hammered by it
Thanks for the update. Glad y'all are safe, was worried about you but happy it wasn't too bad for you.
Thanks
hello from Canada...one of the best video of the storm...good job..glad you are safe..
So glad you are safe.
This guy's a Hero...need more guys like him.
Serious business boats and hurricanes
You prepared, great video !
They are so lucky to have all y'all there looking out for their property. It was nice to watch your concern for everyone.
The marina is a family business. we try to keep a look after everyone’s boats though and watch out for each other
A really enjoyable vid, thanx for posting it. We are in North Port, where Irma didn't do much to us but you guys got hit. This time Ian laid us low but I'm happy you guys didn't get the big hit. Hurricanes. We went thru Katrina and Wilma when we lived on the East Coast. Katrina wasnt too bad for us, we were only out of power for 3 days. Wilma didn't do too much to the house but we were out of power for 3 weeks. FPL has turned into magicians, getting the power back on here unbelievably quickly. Hurricanes. You never know. God bless.
Thanks for watching! Hope you all are recovering and glad to hear you are safe. It was an awful storm for so many people on the west coast
God bless all your guys ! Great effort ..
Glad to hear some good news 👍🙏🏼🇺🇸
Prayers for all of Florida
Glad you guys did well in the storm. We had a lot of tree trash up here in St Johns but other than some minor flooding...we dodged a bullet too!
Glad you are safe. I lived in Marathon during Andrew, was run out of islamorada during hurricane Charley and just survived hurricane Ian in Cape Coral Florida.
Glad you guys are ok!
I've never been in a hurricane and definitely not in one's path. The closest I have ever come to one,, is when caring people like you & your family share your experience thru videos. I'm from Oklahoma, I live about 20 miles from the red River, which is the state line that separates Texas from Oklahoma. We are in "Tornado Alley" 🌪 we can be having a casual thunderstorm but in a moments time it can spin a Tornado & we have only minutes to make preparation and take shelter. Very different than a hurricane, at best you have days to prepare which is great. My experience with Tornadoes is nothing compared to hurricanes, By which hurricanes can spin one tornado after another. Heavy rainfall,, flooding, devastating wind and so on. I have had many vacations in Florida, it's always so beautiful & relaxing. I have met a lot of nice folks while I was there, I have praying for the safety of all who were in hurricane Ian's path. Thank you for making this video and sharing with us. I'm happy to know that you & your family are safe
Thanks for watching. Storms are no joke and definitely are devastating when there is so much loss associated with them. Prayers to everyone affected
praying for all that was in the path. Glad you didn't have to much damage. and that you all were safe. keep up the amazing work and living your dreams. God Bless and stay safe 🙏
Thanks. Hopefully the west coast can recover over time 🙏🏻
I know this video was posted 8 months ago but I'm just now seeing it. Thank you for all the info you posted. You don't see that on the news. You were very informative and thank you for share it. It really let's people know what goes on during those times. Glad you guys stayed safe but prayers for those that hat a bad time
Thanks for watching, we dodged a bullet. Some were not so lucky but hopefully as time passes they can rebuild stronger and better than before
Glad you all are safe down there. A fishing trip with you is on my bucket list.
Glad you made it through the terrible storm and your family is safe. Not so lucky for the Sanibel and Ft. Meyer's Beach area. Don't know how people can get recovered from all the destruction. Our thoughts are with them!
Glad you guys made it out good these storms are no joke. Prayers for ft Myers and surrounding ereas rebuild fast
🙏🏻
Glad you are all safe and made it thru with minimal damage🙏👍
Thank you
Lucky and blessed, here in New Smyrna Beach - we got it as it went back off shore - Cat 1. Yep very blessed
It was crazy how it went East and got you guys further up as a cat 1. Very powerful and dangerous storm. Hopefully not too much damage
WoW guys good luck 👍
Glad to see the damage was minimal lot of prep work and hopefully that's the last storm for the year
Stanz: Great video...Congratulations..!! It is said by old salty sea farers: ''It is better before than after''. So, to be prepared and to supervise is the best you can do. God Bless you all .
Thanks Cesar!
God bless you all.I didn’t know what it takes to run a dock. Good job.
Hello from Suwannee County Florida ✨️
God is so good!! I'm glad you and family was safe.
As a south Texas native born and raised that currently lives in Tarpon Springs Fl, I love seeing Shallow Sports in Florida. We got lucky here. It was proposed to hit us and went in south. I was impressed by how on the ball you guys were down there. Kuddos boys. Nice work.
Whew! Lucky, lucky, lucky!!!
That blaster surface shield is no joke it really works. I used it on my truck and boats and it lasts and keeps everything lubed up. My trolling motor release would always seize between trips and it’s been buttery smooth since I used it on it. Doesn’t stick at all months later.
Great to hear!
Great channel, really enjoy the content, very informative. You are honest, hard working, family people, wishing you the best of luck always !
Thank you! Appreciate you watching and commenting
Key West Waterman did an excellent video so felt you guys were going to fare rather well. Stay safe and get caught up on your sleep.
So happy that you guys only had minimal damage. I was there this past October/November. Was neat seeing all of the footage, but also heartbreaking to see the marina fighting for its life. She won this time around and I pray she never has to do battle again. Prayers for the SW mainland.
I subscribed to say I hope you and your fam are okay! Thanks for doing what you do.
I love all of your videos and I hope you and everyone was ok ❤
Thanks. Fortunately we were ok from the storm but many people weren’t as lucky 🙏🏻. They are rebuilding the west coast of Florida now so hopefully in time they come back stronger than before
Great blessings from our father thanks buddy cheers Ricky 🕺💃🐠🎵🐈⬛🎸😎🧜♀️🎣
Prayers for all in Florida.
🙏🏻
I can say one thing, you sure believe in preventative maintenance to keep your stuff running rite!👍
I PRAY FOR 🙏 ALL OF YOU
God bless. Stay safe.
I prayed to St. Anthony DePadua to calm the troubled seas for Stanzfam & Thank You St. Anthony
Thank you 🙏🏻, we were fortunate here. Wishing the best for everyone who was hit hard by the storm
@@StanzFam Make America beautiful again 🇺🇲💃🏼🕺🏻💐 Make America safe again 🇮🇱✝️🇻🇦 build higher with cement, steel, stones with ramps elevated far above sea lines to transport cars and boats enclosed building made of Best for less longest lasting... I would build my fortress with solar lighting floor panels in between boats That light up at night glow in the dark also
Praying for pets, so many without families! Please help the animals and their peeps! 5-10$ donations to any Florida rescue would be so much appreciated. Please foster or adopt. Best pet you will ever have🙏😢❤️
"Claire, why'd you take your diaper off?" LOL Forgot what those days were like. Glad you're all safe.
Thanks : )
I live in Tampa we were defiantly blessed. My heart goes out to Sarasota to Naples it was supposed to be us.
It definitely looked like it was headed your way at first. Prayers to everyone south of you and hopefully they can recover and rebuild over time
I think you have a second career as a storm weatherman. Great video. Stay safe.
Excellent job on video. Glad your family is safe.
Thanks Paul.

Glad y'all safe. Brandon area. Wind, rain, down trees & flooding. Felt the force of the wind from Bradenton.. scary cat 4-3.
Thanks for the videos
Hi
Avid fan from phils...
Tnx
God bless u
StanzFam how are you guys and gals good I pray. We here in Texas have been praying for yall. Looks like a big group from Texas church volunteers are going to be headed to Fort Myers to do anything they can. Stay safe and dry.❤️🇨🇱🇺🇸🙏🏻🙏🏽🙏🏿🇺🇸🇨🇱❤️
🙏🏻
Your knowledge I’m sure saved many vessels that couple days. My brother in law lost his restaurant in fmb and the sister restaurant Matanzas. Praying for all fort Myers and all affected 🙏 I’ll be your way in December and head to fmb to help in any way I can. Cheers 🍻.
🙏🏻
I live on the water in Dania Beach, Irma was pretty nasty here but the Keys got the worst of it. My neighbor has a house on the water in Marathon, Irma put 4 feet of water in it. He had to gut and rebuild the entire house. Thank god this Ian went north, but damn....what a catastrophic storm for the west coast. I used to rent a house on Captiva for a week every year, right on the beach, it is still standing but it is banged up bad.
Very interesting!
Glad you made it ok
Hey guys, Nick...? ( host. ?? ). World class job and time line. All characters added something. A tone. Even the guys briefly in view during walk and talk. Pretty mom with adorable kiddies ( BTW little one got Jipped trying for the no hold nibble of the ice cream - so cute ). I'd watch you all inform on all topics. Elections , politics and policy, big news and events.....etc... Again, great watch. Great job and thanks...
Thanks for watching Joe 👍🏻
You guys got lucky god bless that
I was wondering how everything went with you guys. Glad it wasn't bad for you. Thanks for the update.
Thanks 🙏🏻
You have beautiful girls, is that your little guy too, they are all so precious 💖
So glad you all were safe 🙏
Thanks. Felix is my nephew
Why not use old tires around the boats? Is that now environmentally wrong?
You can tell just by looking at that water a storm is coming. As if it's vibrating from the force of the wind miles away.
