- Drone shots showing the extensive flooding after storm surge rushed into Steinhatchee, FL from Hurricane Idalia. I also shot before video a couple of days prior to the storm. Unfortunately I was unable to match up the video as weather conditions were less than ideal.

I love you stienhatchee. I hope you recover well
Thanks for sharing! I'm in AZ very far from there. Praying for everything and everyone there! Beautiful footage. Thank you!❤
So much water.. my goodness. Wonderful work, thank you for sharing.
Great drone footage Brandon! I respect your reasoning for putting the after footage first in your video. If I lived there and was looking for what may have become of my home and property, I would not have wanted to see the before footage first.
The mold will be the issue, but if they get on it , should be ok. IF you choose to live near water, you must be prepared to manage after the storm.
Nice drone footage
Amazing video made in windy conditions and that drone navigates it like a champ.
Thanks for sharing.
These are all vacation houses. Stienhatchee has about 600 people living there. It is rural coastal Florida
It is in Taylor County,Florida.
@@christinerisden5799I was just there last week. I know where it is
Very impressive shots but i want to know please. What drone are you using, that thing can handle some high wind. Thanks for sharing this with us. Cheers
Wow. Last time I saw Steinhatchee was probably 30 years ago. Used to be nothing more than a fish camp at the end of a road. Lots has changed there.
Yep. Not the old Florida.
Rich man's fishing paradise.
That's a beautiful place. So happy it was not completely destroyed.
We are with you ❤️ we feel the pain. We were in the same place a year ago with Hurricane Ian. A very long road is ahead of you. Our house is still not repaired 😢
You can tell the new construction standards are helping here and there. Excellent video, you definitely see extensive damage. 🙏
Yea like the houses on stilts
@@20PINKluvrNot necessarily stilts. No living quarters allowed on the first floor, and the foundation construction has been designed for flowing water. Nitpicking on my part. Semantics? Indeed. Just sayin its a bit more than stilts.😊
I live in Florida .... Good to see that the newer constructed homes held up very well = No roof damage or windows blown in .... The Older homes/buildings had damage.
Building codes that respect wind power and flood heights means the difference between minimal damage, and catastrophic damage.
All those buildings in the video that were raised above the ground looked good.
There are a lot of older homes and trailers not on the water in Steinhatchee, I suspect that there may be quite a few people who got flooded out.
It’s interesting picture from a well prepared zone. They resisted very well. I think in the infestation of alligators, reptiles, little pests. By this area are living well prepared people. Congratulations. Thank for the perfect dron work.
Excellent flight and footage. A lot of damage to be seen. Hopefully everyone is safe. What drone are you using. I fly a Mavic 2 zoom. I have video of before and after shots of a major wildfire here in Arizona. It was called the Bush fire. Stay safe brother!
Gotta say, looking good.
And now for the next trick. Two years of renovations, mold removal, bugs, snakes, gators, drywall, electrical, cars, boats, landscape, trees, appliances, food storage, stores, clothing, schools, heat, insurance claims on only one beach front house and everything's else. im pretty sure im missing a ton of other things. Then before ya know it. HURRICANE SEASON AGAIN.!!
Most of the people who have these houses already know the deal and money isn't an issue. You sound like a hater🤷🏼♂️
You nailed it 😜
All to do again in next hurricane, just DEVESTATING
Would not be so much of a problem if we actually built houses as if there was potential flooding possible some day. So all we needed to do is wait for drainage and a bit of a wipe down to make them habitable again quickly after storm surge events.
But I guess that would be slightly more expensive up front instead of massively more expensive on the back end so short sighted humanity will never get there.
@@5353Jumper well put. Commandment on reading between my lines.
Nice Video. After and Before,
"Let's live on an ancient flood plain that floods every year"
This must get old after a while.
The cost of living on the water at sea level with a once in a lifetime hurricane event
Actually, this area doesn't look too much the worse for wear. Other areas clearly had significant wind damage and flooding, but this area looks like it weathered the storm pretty well.
I see lots and lots of McMansions.
Most places are up on stilts.
Build up high on stilts or cement pillars
@@williebeamish5879. Rivers are beautiful view wise, but treacherous living wise.
Yes - was encouraged. A lot of the homes were built to hurricane safe specs you can tell.High and no roof damage. Once the waters recede there will still be a community there
All the deviation is so sad but catching Florida’s first light was gorgeous. Your video sure shows the difference between paradise and destruction. Fantastic work as always Brandon.
Make that DARK BRANDON lady! LOL! Joe is much better than Ron DE SATAN, a FASCIST! German- Swiss American here! Trust me ,most Americans don't want to live in a REICH WING EVANGELICAL CHRISTIAN REPUBLICAN DICTATORSHIP! 🇩🇪🇨🇭🇺🇲🌊💙🌊💙🌊💙🌊💙🌊💙
😎🧜🇺🇸🙏PRAYERS FOR ALL THOSE AFFECTED BY HURRICANE IDALIA 🙏
😵 shared!
At 5:44, I recognized these buildings from a video taken by a camera on top of the largest building on the right. The entire area was flooded several feet deep during the storm.
Perhaps you could show the before footage first? Seems some folks don’t realize your video is in reverse from your title.
I lived in Florida 23 years and never heard of this place, it is beautiful. Some of it looks like a swamp with houses sticking up out of it now.
Fishing community. Lots of flats fishing in that area.
🙏🙌❤
There is devastation from winds and flooding there not shown here. Those were waterfront homes built higher and more recently. But just a quarter mile from there are campers, mobile homes, and older homes that have been torn apart and flooded out and people have lost everything.
You couldn't pay me enough to live in Florida because of hurricane season
My goodness 😮
We lived though Ian and most of my applications worked. Freezer washer dryer blender. So let you stuff dry out before you toss. Stove l tossed . Fridge l should have kept. Sewing machine works. Don't be quick in throwing away things. Floor steamer works still.
how many of these people had their insurance cancelled prior to storm
Wow man. Vary sad and alot of work.
Why do you show the before at the end of the video and the after at the beginning? Amazing video footage.
Many people that live there havent seen there homes. No need to make them wait any longer. The beginning is for them. The “before” is for those wondering what it looked like a few days ago. Thank you.
I appreciate your reversing the timeline. I was far less depressed watching the before video than I was watching the after video.
I enjoyed the reality of the ending. I live in a flood zone of the Russian River. I've had to put on my hip waders a couple of times to get to my canoe so I could look for a store that might be open.
Thanks for posting. @@WxChasing
@@WxChasingwhat about the _other_ side of the river, the homes in Jena?
Unfortunately I could not fly as planned due to flight restrictions being issued.
what drone is it?
Well let’s see how many more insurance companies pull out of Florida this time. I hope these folks don’t have the trouble the people down south have had with insurance not paying at all or giving them Pennie’s on the dollar.
Insurance companies can't pay what they don't have. - So people will suffer and have to beg the state for help, and the state will beg the Fed for help, and around and around we go . . .
Nam myoho rengekyo 🙏 pray 🌍 peace be safe**
After - before video*
Those stilt houses would have been scary to stay in, but it looks like they made it.
If you build right!! We can survive some of these storms.
Doesn’t look bad for a hurricane 🤷🏽♀️…… people know, and understand, where they live.
The homes that are built on stilts are impressively still intact
Except for the gallons of water that pushed through the windows and doors by the wind
@@mikew9793 Not if the house was built up 10+ feet. The strong surge wasn't that high
Awesome video! brought back some sad but fond memories! fond memories Roy's, sad where Ideal Marina use to be!
Price you pay for building and living on the water front. Right at or below sea level. Eventually it will happen, only a matter of time.
That's right....😮😮
That’s all by the water where is some of the roads behind the store?
Steinhatchee is in Taylor County.
Lamentable situación en un estado tan hermoso
BEAUTIFUL HOMES SORRY
Great video....the one story homes get inundated and will have costly repairs......all in all not too bad.
The real nightmare is that their homeowner's insurance isnt going to pay a dime for the damages
And anything needed for repairs will be even more expensive and harder to find
what drone? it was able to handle the wind no problem?
not sure how they got the title completely backwards. ??
I have to ponder that while there is a lot of destruction; I'm seeing a lot of newer constructed houses and lots of 'green natural' areas that HAD to play a part in helping it from being just swept off the map the way the beach areas were during Ian. :p
This is tidal surge not really a wind event. ( Florida Here)
The mangroves are vitally important. They do keep the soil and mitigate
Flooding and waves,
They are vital nurseries for sea
Creature young. Because of global warming they are growing further north and coastal states are trying to encourage them. Apparently there is also no better more
Efficient carbon
Capture
Then mangroves.
Majority of the area it made landfall in is marsh uninhabited land. There's older buildings from fish camps and logging. There is a lot of of newer construction built to new building codes.

Great footage, but I think it's after and then before.
I used to own the red boat at 1:35.. Was hoping I could buy it back someday, guess that's not happening...
Everyone hates a drone until now !!!! Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm Joel.
They are always less severe than the media predicts.
The media doesn't predict weather. They report on the models assembled by meteorologists, statisticians, and climate engineers. Models are always just a "best guess" based on the available data.
@@RuthB51tell that to the victims families from hurricane Ian last Year ❤
I wonder if insurance companies will offer new deals after this???😂
I couldn't imagine all the toxins in the water and ground. No thanks. I'd rather deal with snow storms here in Minnesota in the winter.
I pray that everyone in FL moved to safe areas...like any other state in the US
Thank goodness someone's worried about the millionaires and their waterfront homes. Hopefully no boats were harmed.
Homeowners insurance in Florida be like "Sure, no problem! That will be $22,500 a month."
Jeez so many hurricanes in short time and too much flood.. Insurance will sky rocket in FL !
Did anyone see that person by the debris, waving for help!!!!!!!!
Any sharks seen?
Looks normal.
stilts save a lot of houses
Every building in flood prone areas of Florida should be elevated like those
Just stop development and rebuilding
If this is before and after…. Well
Why would anyone build a house a foot above sea level? It seems like a losing endeavor!
No comparison to Tropical storm Ian
Ian was a cat 5
Had enough yet Floridians?
GOD spared Florida this time. Nothing I've seen anywhere indicates Cat 4.
GOD spared florida by flooding it with a hurricane? not a very nice gesture
Why didn't he spare Hawaii from the fires and the Ukraine from all their deaths?
God didn't cause the hurricane. That is just a fact of life living there. The people who build there are aware of the danger. God may have put the breaks on it, as it was expected to be a cat four.
Yes, hopefully God can spare a few more hurricanes for Florida before hurricane season is over in November. DeSatan attracts them
@ytubsave307 The fires in Hawaii and the war in Ukraine were man made. They did it to themselves.
People just gotta live on the water, so it goes......
watch out for gatorssss.
That's enough damage to make some people wonder if they want to continue to live there. Storms like these are going to be more frequent I think with all the warming ocean temperatures.
seems like an odd place to build all that infrastructure, in the water like that
😂😂😂
Um, it wasn't in the water when built.....
@@allysonmurray1731 But it must be at least seasonally under water, clearly. Remember it is illegal to discuss climate change in Florida's state senate, so this must be a regular occurrence down there
nope
@@frankmacleod2565good grief. Climate change is a myth.
Crazy
I was just looking at property in that area.
Of course not on the water $
That is in Taylor County Florida.
Looked to me to be ALL AFTER the flood. Didn't seem to be ANY BEFORE SHOTS.
Before shots are at the end.
This is more like an after and before from the way that you edited it...
999
I think you shouldn’t be allowed to build right on the water. When a hurricane hits it ends up being tons and tons of garbage flushed into ocean
Yep, Seeing This Again and It Will Happen Again, Makes Me Glad I Chose To Stay In New England!
Yes please do!
@@rootpass74these don’t understand us Floridians 😂
I bet a lot of this water was caused by the storm!
This is a good example of what sea level rise will look like in a few decades. People probably think it means skyscrapers underwater when it really means all of these coastal towns rotting away in several feet of slowly rising water. This time the flooding is temporary, but it won't always be the case unfortunately.
😅
The Navy started work on preparing the base at Norfolk to deal with climate change back in the 1970's right after the major report from the one oil company came out. They have done a great job of suppressing that support once they realized the economic impact. The military has done a lot of preparation since that report came out so that they don't get caught out. Then you have the people who think it's all a hoax, they can take the brunt of it and we can just continue to tell them that it isn't happening.
Great footage maybe switch around the editing before then after
I undestanding - quem pode querer morar numa bosta de lugar desse ... um brejão que a inundação traz crocodilos ao meio da rua, ao quintal ... e o pior: os residents 'se acham'
The rich people area looks stronger than where the middle class people live
Duh!
They are lucky the storm didn't stall and sit in one place for 10 hours like Fort Myers
Thank goodness not bad for having strong winds ..thats the power of prayers going up Blessings come down THAT YOU JESUS.
Florida is the most beautiful place to live. It's worth the money living there. 🏖️☀️🌅. Just have to keep insurance on your 🏚️. Don't ever. Move people. Stay and enjoy the ☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️
I heard insurance compnaies have been moving out of there though. I don't think it would be worth living there if you don't have it.
I'm 500 ft above sea level. With a water view and I face east, so I get first light every morning. Don't need FL. And I don't want to pay for idiots to keep rebuilding in flood zones
Working on getting my aunt and uncle out of there now. It's hard to find someone to buy houses though. They haven't put theirs up yet, but there are several houses that have been on the market for over 6 months in their area. Their house survived Ian with just some damage to their pool cage and it's a nice house, but who wants to move Fort Myer.
@@MiracleFound a friend is a real estate agent in Orlando. Says banks won't write loans on any house with a roof over 20 years old in FL or with ANY roof degradation. Only 5 insurance companies remain, and they'll be leaving soon no doubt.
@@mikew9793 my aunt and uncle put on a hurricane rated roof that made it through Ian with no damage. Maybe the other houses don't have newer roofs. I am hoping that we can get their house sold and get them into a senior community (they are in their mid 80's). I can't go through another hurricane where they didn't leave because it was too much for them to do what was needed to leave. I offered to fly down and drive them out and pack what they needed to bring with. They need to be near family where we can take care of them.
God help!! 🙏
Another insurance company leaving Florida. Who wants to live in a swamp. You got reptile insurance too?
Target practice.
Idalia: tropical storm to cat 3 hurricane in 36 hours. It’s now mowing a path through GA & SC. GOP still denies climate change!
Climate changes every second, no matter what humans do.
Ugh walking through that water with alligators, no thank you! Thanks for the video of the flooding from Idalia tho!
Aren't these the people that were wondering why insurance companies were raising their prices?
