Yes, and we are like a peninsula surrounded by water on all sides.
I’ve lived here in FLORIDA 🌴 for 33 years. Hurricane 🌀 Irma 2019-came closer in-land on East Coast.
Extreme winds continuously through the night uprooted -2 Tall Cedar Trees, thank God they didn’t affect my Liana.
I honestly can say that ALMIGHTY GOD gave me a PEACE that I can’t explain throughout the entire night.
I now live near Cape Canaveral 🚀and I’m in a secure building in-land.
Anyone living on the beaches are the ones who are affected. I’d never live on the beach 🏖️

It's fair to say storm surge will be the undoing of the Floridian peninsula. We're watching a stretch of low lying land that will be inundated by rising sea levels within one or two generations. Watching this storm surge is like looking ahead in time by 150-200 years....the incredible Keys and mainland low lying Florida will be taken by the sea...there's nothing anyone can do about it. I hope I get the chance to visit before I die. It's an amazing part of the world. But as the sea temperatures rise....Floridians and others can expect an increasingly prolonged and increasingly violent hurricane season year on year. That isn't being sensationalist....the science is there for all to see.

YES-we are surrounded by water on all sides.
Too many people choose to live near beaches 🏖️ which is why they will always be in harms way.
I’ve lived here in FLORIDA 33 years. Hurricane 🌀 Irma 2019 moved more inland affecting some people.
I honestly can’t understand why people choose to live in Trailer Houses? Most dangerous dwelling there is.
I had 2 tall CEDAR TREES uprooted, due to continuous wind throughout the night. I found out Cedar trees do not have deep roots and easily uproot.
I had PEACE from The Lord all night that I can’t explain. I was recovering from back surgery, due to Faith in the LORD to protect me,and my Shetland Sheepdog/collie.
I lived in Kissimmee,Florida at the time. I moved, and now I’m near Cape Canaveral 🚀 but inland.
I’m a senior and where I live is permanent. I use common sense on where I live, most people just want to live here due to Beaches, however many of us are here due to employment.
I worked in several Hospitals 🏥 and I’ve lived in several States, but Florida is #1 for me.
Moved from Duluth,Minnesota 1989. Our summer was 3 months.
I know it seems crazy people would even move to Florida, due to Hurricanes, but I’ve experienced Earthquake in Washington State, tornadoes in Kansas -extreme blizzards up north.
It’s not where I live it’s ~~who I TRUST 100% using common sense the Lord has given me.
      Where do you live Sir?

    • @tinman7342
      @tinman7342 8 месяцев назад +1

What typically happens is one or two storm events in same area causes changes to land use plans and coastal requirements for rebuilding or upgrading . It all falls under Coastal Construction Control Line sections of the building code . Happened in the Keys , happened in smaller areas like the extreme southwest area around Chokoloskee/ Everglades City after Hurricane Wilma ...we have a small house in EC , when Wilma came ashore as a Cat 4 it really whacked Chokoloskee and we lost some porch screens and a ceiling fan ....that's the random nature of damage sometimes , but the offshoot was all the houses had to be raised 12 ft because it's so low there . Same thing will happen up in Suwanee , Steinhatchee , Cedar Key and other Big Bend towns ....bet next year the requirements for rebuilding include frangible wall structures that give way to prevent the whole building from collapse and stilt support structures .

It's normal for any hurricane. The timing(tides) and the fact it's during the king tidal period doesn't help at all. But it's normal for any hurricane whose winds push the water into the shore. That area of Florida is not highly populated either. It's a large coastal wetland area with very few if any beaches to begin with. The damage will be limited because of that.

its bad, but the areas are not as heavily populated as Fort Myers, still that matters little to people effected. Overall considering the decades of not being hit by hurricanes year after years, no one really can complain. Its just their time. And still though the damage will be substantial, it still will not be Hurricane Ian levels of destruction. One who lived in Florida must understand, this is nature, and such storms does have natural purpose. Mans activities which has altered the climate has now seen to altering the paths of such storms. Places that rarely seen direct hits, must now contend with the reality and possibility of such. But is it not the price to pay for living in paradise? This is known for scallops and many multi multigenerational families. It’s one of last little towns to not see your typical condos and high rise stuff you see elsewhere. Hope that doesn’t change . This is their first direct hit since 1800s.
Half of Florida has moved to mountains of NC and TN. The other half is on its way. I know because I live here in smokies. They coming here n making it into what they left.

@@cumberlandquiltchic1the only people leaving the state are retirees who can't afford to live here anymore and move to NC and TN. Still have droves of Northerners fleeing their states for Florida and the population is growing leaps and bounds, housing going up everywhere and demand keeping the prices up. The cost of living is driving out the generational Floridian and being replaced by immigrants and those fleeing COVID lockdown states.

Retirees and homesteaders/young families who want to not live that life anymore and many many many who can work from home. Florida and Californians came to work from home and buy more house for what they sold.
Nowhere on the sat coast or south is habitable. You’ll have to go Midwest or way up north maine. We’ve let too many come into our country and have a sippy/demand issue with homes and many can go together and live multigenerational in same home n buy 6 disgust home now. Strange times we live in.
I can assure you though… it isn’t just retirees coming here in western NC and eastern TN.
