This is violation of women's rights. I am Indian Hindu and I also sometimes cover my head and everything since my skin is sensitive to intense heat in India. If a man asks me to uncover myself, the first thing he is getting is a slap on his face. Who do they think they are to tell us women what we should wear and not wear?? It is also a clear religious violation. Infact my country, whose Hindu Muslim issue is famous looks like a saint infront of this country.

I could be wrong, but I imagine it could be like a government taking away an important part of your religious practice and expression, then forcing you either into hiding, or parading you around naked in front of its population - because they have no choice but to either hide themselves away, or else expose themselves in public in a way that is not wanted or deemed appropriate in their eyes. It has to be so uncomfortable to have to make that choice, and so disheartening. It is simply unacceptable IMO. 😞🙏

Tajikistan is being cautious about the cultural enforcements that people adopt in the name of religion without a choice.
It's not the hijab is the issue, its the cultural enforcements that religion brings into local cultures. The problem is once it's introduced into local culture it acts as evasive and replaces the former.
Don't choose bad politicians! Unfortunately, majority of Tajikistan politicians are not practicing Muslims. Arabic attires has nothing to do with Islam. But its attire fits the requirements of being modest as required in Islam. Malay culture for example, their women normally wear the traditional attire baju kurung. Hijab was introduced to them in late 70s and it fused well with their culture without problem. When Islam is well practiced, you know the do and don't. The same goes with the dress code, which part to cover, etc. Wearing hijab doesn't make one be or look Arab. Keeping beard makes you a terrorist is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard in my life.
Look at black and white pictures of central Asian women, they wore their own versions of the hijab. This has nothing to do with Arabic attire and everything to do with religious beliefs. You act as if Europeans didn’t cover up their women in the past as well. This is just another let’s blame the Arabs excuse to justify an attack on Islam.
I don't think they get to choose their politicians...

Though I don't support the way they did it. Forcibly shaving beards doesn't seem cool. Nor does banning an attite entirely. Banning it in schools and promoting secular/democratic values should have been the way to go.
Apart from that, adults should be free to dress however the way they want and practice their religion. Assuming no harm done. This is a fundamental right IMHO.
TLDR, I support their intentions but I think they got carried away and took it to another form of extremism in order to counter extremism.

Isn't the democracy meant to bring easiness and freedom to the lives of one's country? Then why don't they pass a law where anyone can dress however they want. You want to go on streets half naked okay, you want to on streets fully covered in abaya shall be okay. Let people live according to their own preferences! These elderly women must have spent their whole lives doing hijab and now you're banning something that has been the part of their identity for decades while making them uncomfortable in their selves. I love that you mentioned it, women weren't allowed to attend University with the hijab and men had to be so careful to hide their prayer beads and Qur'an in the military, it had so many years of military rule. It's ironic that they considered themselves progressive and also believers, but thought that practicing religion was anti-national. Although , unlike the Tajik, they didn't ban the hijab in public places, they couldn't do it as there were so many Muslims, they tried to stop them from getting a education or a job, thus crippling them. Things really got better under Erdogan, thanks to God.
