- Dashcam video shows the pursuit that led up to a shootout between police and a man accused of trying to break into the Ohio FBI office. The Ohio Highway Patrol said the suspect, 42-year-old Ricky W. Shiffer, was allegedly armed with an AR-15, body armor and a nail gun. Authorities said Shiffer had been known to the FBI because he had an unspecified connection to the Jan. 6 capitol riots.

I share this cops frustration of all the idiots on the roads who don’t pay attention to the clear as day flashing lights and loud sirens.
They come up quick. Who scans their rear view mirror?
@@timbaldwin6283 I mean, even if they come up quick, some of these drivers were still in the left lane for like a good 3 seconds even with the cop right behind them. You don't have to look in the rear view to see the lights flashing- your peripheral should see it.
hes going 110 mph thats too fast
@@sammitchell7310 sirens are loud. you dont have to see to be able to hear. and peripheals will pick up the lights. you should always be paying attention to your surroundings and checking mirrors anyway. its takes very little effort to do so.
@@danielgames7930 Exactly! So let's be honest here, most of the drivers were probably not paying attention and just driving leisurely- it's something we've all been guilty of and this is very apparent here.
It's amazing how many people are totally unaware of their surroundings.
Bro ..alot of people are like that.
But are totally up to date on twatter n tik kok
No kidding. I'm a motorcyclist and ppl are on their phone or looking at their phone. Smh
I can't hear the siren til they are closer. I do check my mirrors often.
That cop was driving well over 130 MPH. longest person took 4 seconds to move??? police have no business driving that fast-putting countless lives in danger. radio ahead and have exits blocked. If that cop would have hit a chunk of tire or had a blow out from riding a rumble strip at that speed, he would have killed how many people???
the lack of awareness from most of the drivers on the highway is insane….be aware of your surroundings and PAY ATTENTION!!
taylor taylor taylor, stop dreaming. they are in zombieville. just be glad you don't live there.
"....be aware of your surroundings and PAY ATTENTION!!" You 'Nailed It' !
That's unheard of in Southern California. Most people are 'In Their Own Little World."
Eventually they Pay the Consequences and take an innocent driver down with them.
Nightly 'Wrong Way Drivers' and 'Fatal Multi Vehicle D.U.I. Hit and Run Fiery Crashes'
and 'Hit and Run' Fatal Pedestrians. It's a different world now days.
Bet you say the same when bikers are hit... Didn't think so
No.
What you said needs to be pounded into our teens minds, they can be trying to be so safe and have no idea that the idiots that drive are not looking for him and their only goal is to get there as fast as possible and if you are in the way doing the speed limit you are slowing them down and looked at as a nuisance. This last year the driving has become 80 to 100 on interstates and the minds have become, shall we say, vazzin ated. Mine had 2 accidents by 19 ,one his fault and one not , no injuries and little damage. Liability only 170 for he and me went from 170 to 598 A MONTH, 2 vehicles and im 53 zero tickets or accident and he has those 2 minor but in Ky it's no fault and they're going to put it in your b uttt. Many ins agents try to get lower but with crappy credit that's best it is and it's with the crappy progressive. Cheapest we can get 4 now.
As a 42 year Texas law enforcement officer, I absolutely hate people who do not look in their rear view mirrors. Not only does it hinder police vehicles, it's just plain dangerous. You never know what is approaching from behind if you never look.
Hard to watch the mirrors and their phone at the same time 🤦♂.
True story.
They do it on purpose g.
i’ll admit i’m a crazy driver.
but my mirrors are what keep my alive, there are far crazier drivers than i
Same people who love to hog the fast lane. People live in their own little worlds without a care for anyone else.
It’s amazing how people in the left lane are so oblivious while driving
They need to have a camera take pictures of every license plate, then send them a $200 fine ticket in the mail.
If they can't pull over for an emergency vehicle they should not be driving.
They are a danger on the road.
@@seanns1945 lol Ohio supreme court ruled that as unlawful and for good reason
It’s amazing how many times that people post this comment on most police chases we see.
That’s Ohio for ya
They come up quick. Who scans their rear view mirror.
Each one of those left lane drivers that didn’t yield should receive a driving citation in the mail! I am constantly checking all 3 mirrors while driving either in town or on highway. It’s called situational awareness people!
people listen to music too loud and are on their phones. I feel like half of the people on the roads should have their licenses taken because I swear some people CAN NOT drive
Especially when the sirens are blaring
OMG I WAS THINKING EXACT SAME THING 🤷🤯
@@user-ri4bs6di7e the half that sits when they pee.
After 8 seconds just PIT them out of the way.
17 minutes of driving and you don’t even show the arrest?!

Didn't the suspect die in a shootout shortly afterward? They're not going to show that on this channel.
@@FortitudineVincimus Are you new to RUclips? .. lol
@@a2zme I didn't say it wouldn't be shown on RUclips... I said it wouldn't be shown on this CHANNEL.
It would be kinda weird to arrest a corpse
These vehicles that refuse to move over with these cameras you have send them a ticket. Once it hits the pocket hopefully it'll change their driving.
Seriously!
When u have multiple cop cars doing 100 in multiple lanes just jumping into another lane is not going to be the best option always
Shame them on local TV stations with license plates for hindering emergency vehicles😂
".....man accused of trying to 'Break' into the Ohio FBI office..."
Makes about as much sense as trying to 'Break' Into Prison !

@@billyyank5807 LOLOL
This happened just outside of my town (Wilmington, Oh) and I know many of the officers who were caught in the shootout. Luckily none of them were injured, but this is by far the craziest thing that has ever happened around here! And the drivers on I-71 in this area are absolutely terrible, this bad driving doesn’t surprise me.
Does not surprise me as a trucker. I constantly check my mirrors unlike these four wheelers
When did it happen?
You don’t know anybody stfu you country bumpkin
Bad driving? I didn't see anyone but police break traffic laws.
@@mrmysterious this happened a couple of weeks ago, I believe.
That police officers driving is absolutely impressive. I felt like I was in a high speed video game!
its amazing how many clueless people are on the roads every single day
As a nervous driver/passenger, I am terrified watching this! Police have balls of steel to do this on a regular basis, while also catching the bad guys. Huge respect to them.
So... I don't try to drive 🤨
You shouldn't be driving
If your nervous then the road isn't for you
I am amazed by how many people drive in the passing lane!
Well it's legal.... Probably unconstitutional to enforce. They all moved over safely. Can't just merge because of cop lights. Might cause an accident.
@@replynotificationsdisabled I don't know whether it's illegal in the US but it should have nothing to do with the constitution, just like all the other rules of the road. If you can enforce speed limits and traffic direction, you can enforce pulling right when not passing. At least that's the case in my country.
Around here (S. FL) the left lane is the fast lane, or often HOV lane. The roads are too packed, if the left was used only for passing we would have non stop traffic jams.
@@8180634 If you're on the left lane and there's someone in front of you, you're ok since your intent is technically still to pass - you just don't have yet another lane to the left. A packed road means everyone has someone in front of them that they would be passing if the conditions allowed so there's no inconsistency with the rule.
@@8180634 false, moving right except to pass significantly reduces traffic jams. Most traffic on the highway would clear if drivers simply stayed to the right. I have driven in the right lane for 10 miles passing people on the left of me across 3 lanes because they are all just camping. Some doing well under the speed limit. If they were in the right lane (where they should be when not passing) it would be safer for all, and those other lanes wouldn't have been blocked up
They need Rumbler sirens, here it's being install on most emergency vehicles and that low "bass" tone shake your entire vehicle. You know there is an emergency vehicle approaching for sure. When I'm working ( in an office ), I'm really close to the road and can't hear regular siren very well, but this Rumbler bass sound is something you feel inside you.
@@holycats8 I do think oshp uses wheelen but anyways they need a new siren in general I can barely hear them even right next to me sometimes
Dude lost his mind believing lies and it cost him his life. I'd never take up arms for a politician
Don't worry, seems people wont take up arms against anything.
Never understood why people idolize ANY politician
@@tonysolar284 this man did
Weird its easier for you to believe its just because someone idolizes a politician than it is to believe both parties are trash and one has weaponized multiple parts of the federal government against their opponent. I dont have any faith that a person on the internet can even respond reasonably to this comment without name calling or some form of sarcasm.
@@strnglhld it blows my mind, friends and family believe anything one dude says. Twilight zone stuff
People who blindly putt-putt along in the left lane are either too oblivious to move over for faster moving traffic or those who do it on purpose because they feel superior; are the dumbest, most moronic among our species. I wouldn’t feel bad one bit watching some of them run off the road and crash(with no major harm to them).
Marti ... this is a Huge pet peeve of mine
maybe just a little harm
I just saw this on Wham Bam Tesla Cam 2 days ago
Left lane driver going 70 mph fidgeting with dog in the back seat when they straighten up the car wheel jerks left, the back passenger wheel turns 90 degrees and skips up to where the front passenger tire used to be thus initiating a tumbling roll in the median spun top to bottom six times💯
I can’t believe how many people don’t move over.
That’s Ohio for ya. The worst drivers in the nation.
I’m more concerned about that than the FBI tbh
I can’t believe how many people post that comment on pretty much every police chase video.
@@SavoyPrimeable BS!
Hard to look in your rear view and check your social media at the same time.
To be fair, I think a lot of drivers have a mini panic when they see blues & 2's, then when you have multiple cars with lights coming up 2 different lanes makes them panic more not knowing where to go.
its time to start charging drivers that don't move out of the way, this is just insane...
If this were in Arkansas , ASP would have stopped him 8 miles ago lol
Are rear view mirrors optional in that state? WTF?
Around 12:12 is when they finally catch up to them... if you are wondering. 🤔
But not really...
Thanks
Fun fact: up until 2018, Ohio drivers had no obligation to maintain the right lane except to pass.
I'd estimate 50% of PA drivers know keep right pass left (law) but Ohio registered vehicles have no problem staying in our left lanes for dozens of miles in my observations.
Well, that explains a lot!
In NC, it's the same way. It's so frustrating.
i am just watching this video and getting triggered by all the people that didnt even bat an eye to the sirens and stayed in the left lane. it isnt ruining your day to move out of the left lane. i would be going back in the video to try and get each and every LP to get them a ticket for failure to yield.
I agree. I'm always checking my mirrors while driving and when sitting at a light. Too many people don't pay attention. Some of us were taught properly how to drive and it is a privilege not a right
The ENTIRE 17 minutes was just watching a car chasing nothing. And people refusing to get over. 😑

Imagine being so off that you try to break in at the fbi office 😂
With a nail gun, no less. First min or so, one cop on the left one on the right. On the high way. Passing both sides of civilians. At high rates of speed. Thank your God no confused civilians tried to pull off as they are legally required to when cops are coming up behind you.
Not legally required to immediately pull over.. no law states such
I find it amazing how many people don't move over to get out of the way ~ with lights and sirens blaring.
@@ricklowry9474 Actually they should just like this officer
Even the truckers are getting into the left-lane-camper act today.
You need your traffic rules changed. In germany you have to stay on the right lane. Only to overtake you can use the other lanes. If you have overtaken someone you have to go back on the right lane. 4 or 5 lanes of pure nightmare. Billy Bob on meth in the middle, karen texting while driving on the left side and big bear the trucker rubbing and smelling his nuts while driving an 40T truck.
The laws are good, it’s getting officers the permission to enact them. Ohio government is so afraid of offending someone’s feelings and that is the problem.

Ohio needs to implement a "move over" law.
If the police have to wait more than two seconds, and the pursuit is on camera, they apply a starchaser.
The culprit can have the device removed at a local police station or face additional charges for tampering with police equipment. They can collect a citation.
I'll just rip it off and not pay the ticket.
11:52 is when they catch up to him
thank you
Thanks. Having seen so many, the chases aren't as exciting as they we're 10 years ago. I remember when I could watch police chases for hours.
lmao them trying to yell over 2 sirens is nutz 😂😂
A long chase. What a rush. Speeds over 100mph.
Note to all: keep looking in your rear view mirror. Move over asap if you see emergency vehicles coming up.
Controlling a car at up to 100 mph, communicating on radio, and preparing a rifle!!! That's skill!!!
Why would the state troopers and local police be involved if it was a federal thing?
Crazy whenever you hear about this kind of stuff, FBI always goes: "Oh yeah, we knew about him, we had him on our radar." Shame they couldn't of done anything about it sooner.
I get what your saying but we have laws for a reason, sometimes it seems crazy but you gotta remember those same laws protect you from being falsely accussed. Even though he may have been on their radar if he didn't commit a crime they cant arrest him and as frustrating as that may be it is what protects innocent people.

To be fair to these drivers, when I am already doing 90 on the interstate I don't really expect someone to come up behind me. Certainly not that quickly.
As a German I have to fight with my inner demons when I see these idiots on the left lane
How do police ever expect people to follow/hear commands when they leave their sirens blaring after the stop?

If time is important to you skip past the first 14 minutes of this video.
This video brings up a serious point that LEO needs to consider, covered by Matt Bracken in "Dear Mr. Security Agent". This incident isn't quite there yet. And the FBI hasn't quite overstepped the bounds of tolerability. But they've danced right up to them a few times and done a pirouette. There may come a time when those of us who are normally pro-local-LEO find ourselves on the other side of the literal battle lines.
They don't respect emergency responders in Ohio apparently smh

There's 17.46 minutes I'll never get back.
The police are probably traveling at 100-120 mph, and drivers take a few seconds to react. When the road curves, we can only see so far ahead, and it’s worse when your view of the road behind is a tiny mirror. His best bet would have been to use the generously wide left shoulder. I’ve seen plenty of chases in which the police don’t yell at their windshield, but these guys may have been hoping for a cookie from the FBI.
