In the U.S. we need three lanes on the interstates, one for people getting passed, one for MORONS that think it's ok to camp out in the left lane and one for people who ACTUALLY KNOW HOW TO DRIVE, PAY ATTENTION, AND TAKE IT SERIOSLY.
My dad taught all 6 of us (sons) the nine, noon, three, noon and nine awareness while driving. He said “always use this while driving so you know what’s coming up behind you”. It amazes me how many people don’t move when they see bright blue lights that OHP uses!
I've never driven on the autobahn bit my dad always told me everyone should learn to drive on it because you learn real quick to pay attention to what's racing up behind you just as much as us Americans pay attention to what's in front of us or else you don't last long. Hell, a lot of people here actually don't even pay attention to what's in front of them! But when you have a cop racing up behind you with lights and sirens, move the hell over. And most importantly, notice it! People on the road are so unaware of everything. But on another note, to this news station that posted this, would it have been possible to get the other dashcam videos from the pursuit that actually showed the pursuit and not just a cop trying to catch up the entire time, then edit them together? This long video showed nothing and was a waste of time
When I first moved to Chicago, I saw a driver camping on the left lane on I90, doing something on his phone. I was on the center lane, and the left lane was closing up ahead. There was a road construction blockade, which is basically a huge pile of solid steel structure. This guy was completely oblivious to what he was running into. I switched to the right lane and honked. He suddenly slammed on the breaks and broke into the right lane, completely ignoring if its occupied or not. Had he waited a few more seconds, he and his car were gonna become part of that blockade. And the messed up part is that I knew exactly how he was going to react to being notified of the danger he was in, hence I made space for him before honking.
It's really nice to see people actually clear the road for the police. (I used to work in ambulances in the '70s & '80s and it was a regular habit in those days.)
