- Todays video is a short buying guide for all of Tecsee's main Tactile and Linear switches.
As Tecsee is fairly new on the scene, I wanted to make a simple introduction video for the brand, as their fleet of switches have essentially become the best way to get Extended pole stems for Frankenswitches, and are quickly becoming the best alternative to the many more expensive community favorite switches.
The Switches in the video are broken down into two pairs:
1. Purple Panda and Carrot Switches (most budget and most popular)
2. Ruby and Sapphire Switches (newer, lighter, and slightly less budget)
I also added 2 typing test clips from other content creators near the end of the video as I wasn't able to do typing tests for all the switches reviewed here.

I'm typing this on the purple pandas, surprisingly smooth right out of the bag. The 67g spring is a bit fatiguing, but 60g springs are perfect for me, personally.
Alright then, thanks for the concise and quite detailed explanation. Time to snag me some of that TECSEE progressive springs.
thanks for this man, I needed to find some extended poles and these are the business. I just got some on amazon which is more expensive but at least ill get mine tomorrow
Yeah sometimes it’s better to spend a little more instead of waiting an entire month :p
I have the Purple Pandas and love them.
Yes purple pandas with tecsee 58g long springs goated
this was very relaxing
6:05 Purple Panda Sound Test
6:21 Carrot Linears Sound Test
How do the linears compare to typical JWK linear switches, e.g. Alpacas, in terms of sound and smoothness?
Thanks for your video
Would you say that the carrot switches are smoother than akko switches? (Jelly pink or similar)
Where do you get all your bgm, they’re all bangers.
How is the wobble on the Sapphires?
Where did you find it for 25$? I have only seen 40ish
further reference as someone using Carrots daily it's really similar to aeboards Raeds switches with 5 pins, and to my experience the Ruby's feel sluggish to type on caused by the progressive spring and it's really awkward on linear, on the other hand, sapphire are quite unique and suitable to my preference.
Hey can these work on my keyboard that use outemu switches?
@@adr6518 before that u should know if your keyboard has hotswap sockets in it and is it dedicated for outemu only or a universal socket, otherwise if it's soldered u must manually solder the switches urself
Are the typing tests with lubed switches?
Does the long pole stem from purple panda helps get rid of cherry profile interference?
It does
Do the Sapphire stems protrude above the housing when depressed?
Yup, just slightly less (barely even visible) than the purple pandas/glorious pandas
hi, would you see the tactile bump in the purple panda is right at the top or there is any pre-travel?
Very top
does Tecsee carrot have interferences when placed in north facing PCB and using cherry profile keycaps?
Commenting because I'd like to know too..
No. Long pole switches don't cause interference because they don't push down as far.
How is this so professional with less than 1000 subs
Would you recommend gateron milky yellows or these, I'm thinking about building a custom board
I have Drop's INVYR Holy Panda and Boba U4T's .. and these Purple Pandas lubed and with the 2-stage 58g springs installed are better.
6:07 is purple pandas
6:23 is carrots
Do you have issues with having PME flakes in some of your switches?
I haven’t seen that happen yet, but so far I’ve only used the purples on a full board for about a week. I’ll check a bit later today to see if there is any flaking under my keycaps on the outside. I’m guessing if PME doesn’t flake externally then Maybe it’s simply PME shavings/ leftover material from the molds they used inside the housing? Either way that’s terrible quality control if that’s an issue.
I checked, and yes there was some flaking on the inside of some of the carrots, but it wasn’t too bad, I was able to just peel it off with my nail.
just got the purple pandas! how does the sapphire compare to purples? is it worth the jump? or am i better off swapping out the purple panda's springs to match the sapphire?
I swapped down the pandas spring to 58g springs and they feel really nice still, so swapping Down to 63g would feel very very similar to the sapphires yeah!
@@zeonic_keys6375 so replying on my other account , so would 62g still feel good on the purples? Would it have any trouble springing back after pressing it? Whats the lowest this switch could take without affecting its tactility and spring back?
@@jonathanleonard9507 for the alpha keys and any keys without stabilizers I’ve gone as low as 56g when using low profile keycaps. For stabilizer keys I probably wouldn’t go below 58-60g just in case because that can occasionally cause spring return issues.
So 58g springs is definitely the sweet spot that I usually use.
Interestingly, The sapphires tactility seems too definitely be affected by their use of progressive springs, because the purples still feel about as tactile as the sapphires even when I use springs below 60g.
@@zeonic_keys6375 ahhh interesting! So even if i go 62g should be still fine for the ones with stabilizers and which springs did u get, 14mm or 16mm? Also without lubing , but just filming, will it be better and nicer for the switches?
Just a heads up the ruby tecsee I just got from Amazon have inconsistency with the stems some are too loose
Have you tried using films? Or are they loose beyond use?
@@zeonic_keys6375 I did put some glad press and seal to fill the cap to make them sound normal but I have so many switches to choose from I'm just going to move on from these for a budget they are fine but no need here
Why is it called the purple panda? why not onion switch.
Why completely changed micro and setup for the carrot sound test? The comparison is pretty much useless...
If you play Minecraft, the purple pandas look a lot like chorus fruit. And the carrots look like carrots (who would've guessed!)
god what i wouldnt do to have that eva build
i have purple pandas :)
the dust though
and then we have...
metal switch
wouldn't say they are budget, I'd describe them as mid-tier pricing
the purples are 25$ for an entire board, so I guess that would be technically "mid", but compared to many switches (40-70$) for a board, thats budget enough for me to feel comfortable calling them budget : p
@@zeonic_keys6375 haha, well, for me, I've been buying switches like jwick and ktt that are around 10-15$ for 100pcs, so that's really where my definition of budget comes from. Jwicks are like the budget line from jwk, after lube, they are quite smooth, I'd say around 80% of jwk for 1/3 to 1/4 the price.
im pretty sure all springs are progressive technically
