I just ordered a set of Ice Candies, thank you for this video! Enjoy your content. I found that the AquaKings had a slight slight binding in the handful I tested so I went with the Ice Candies. And I agree that the Iced Candies really didn't sound different when I lubed them and this may be the first time I don't feel the need to lube the switches.
So far the clear switches are Aqua Kings, Ice Candy, Feker Crystal, TTC Frozen, Kailh Jellyfish, Candy Raindrop, and TTC Heart. At least that I know of.
This isn't a comparison but can you review gateron cjs? Based on what I heard they are a ink black and pom durock frankenswitch and also factory polished. According to keyboard they are smoother than tangies while being almost as deep as box ink blacks. They seem like a top 1 switch for only 65 cents but there are not many reviews on them
I have those, have not tried many linear switches but these are super smooth. I have them on my keychron q1 which are more clacky than thoccy for me. I didn't film them either since I heard that they are so tight that you can't really film them either. Overall 9/10 because they will screw up the RGB.
I have them. They are top tier. And with some lube in the top housing where the stem makes contact on the upstroke, you can take out almost all of the clack. They sound deeper than my whipped creams (and are WAY smoother).
10 seconds into the sound test I decided. Especially for the price tecsee ice candies just seem like the much better option, half the price an just the slightest differences and even some things I like better. Now to decide between ice candies, diamonds, or ruby v2s… if anyone has any recomendations out of those please share thoughts
havent used ice candies but my batch of aqua kings had 25 out of 110 switches that were doa. the leaves of the switches would not stay seated in the bottom housing. when i would re seat them it would result in a very audible ticking sound after the switch was reassembled. i would definitely try the cheaper ice candies first
Gat has the north pole switches now too, you should do a 3 way comparison. IDk why and its weird but when testing some diff switches I love tecsee's blue velvet stem in a gat milky shell. Im sure another switch stock similar but sounds really nice and creamy with that long pole and super smooth.
Hey Lewis! What is that pick-up tool you are using? I use regular tool with thin wires and i have a massive pain when they scratch my stems, so I'd really want to change it)
@@LewisToh well they all are, but I just did a bit of research and found out this is nothing more than a aliexpress koh i noor 4mm mechanical pencil knockoff that people are selling as "stem holders" for 200$ profits)
on the graphics you list the spring weights of the two switches as their actuation force. just want to mention that the actuation force of the candies and aqua kings will be less than the stated bottom out force.
Hi Lewis and his community, I need your opinion on something. Whenever I press the number 4 key on my keyboard, it shows this `1234567, any idea what might be the issue and what can I do to solve it?
Sound tests should be mic near keyboard and mic where you ears are on normal typing position. Switches sound nicer when mic is closer but nobody types with their faces on the keyboard so a mic on regular typing distance is more representative of what you actually hear.
on divinikey there is an option for an UHMWIPE stem for the ice candies, which I have heard is very smooth, would this make the ice candy switch more viable stock compared to the aqua king?
Jwick blacks vs gateron ks3 blacks, tecsee ice candy vs aqua king, Aflion carrots vs tecsee carrots. Hmmm... What about comparing some of the other Akko or Tecsee budget options? Or maybe consider adding a *third* switch, like budget, mid-range, and high-end? I'm really enjoying this series so far!
Great video! You did your research and covered all bases of the switch. I will for sure be buying Ice Candies in the future, half the price but very similar in sound and quality. Thank you.
Im using the tecsee ruby switches and they goated for THOCC Specs: blade65 Polycarbonat plste Tecsee ruby lubed with 205g0 no film Gmk red sam Case foam and under the foam an extra layer of 5mm foam
I'd like to see a comparison between Alpaca V2s (sort if the gold standard linear) vs marshmallow switches. Personal bias here because I'm trying to decide which ones to use 🙃
I've tried both of these switches and compared them side by side. Aqua Kings - Without the stock overlubing issues, these are smoother and more consistent in terms of sound and feel. Tecsee Ice Candies - On paper they seem like a good deal but these require a ton of love. My batch came with a lot of leaf problems (Some would feel like a tactile switch and some wouldn't return at all). The springs also came with a ton of crunch, plus the housings were wobbly af. I was really looking forward to the Ice Candies as I initially perceived them as a far superior switch due to the progressive spring and long pole design. I was reallt disappointed to the point I ended up trading them. Ice Candies need to be lubed and filmed for them to be worth it
Where is my tactile gang at? Would love to see a vid about T1 silent shrimps, I’m thinking about buying them or the Boba U4. Thanks for the great content as always (who cares about unlubed anyways)

good to hear that
The "I'm guessing... I don't know, I didn't do enough research for this." made me laugh so abruptly I hurt my throat. Subscribed.
This series is awesome! It’s super handy to see budget switches going against more expensive switches.
FEKER has their own version of this, called Crystal linear switches. Pretty dang cheap too.
woah what the
pretty dang bad too lol
fekers are made by huano. i really like huano switches, they are so underrated
@@LewisToh and now Zeal is about to release their own version too but it’s tactile

At least that I know of.
I come from the distant past of 2017, and I come bringing something truly horrible: Outemu Ice Clickies.
Gateron norrth pole
akko crystal wine reds and greys and just normal akko crystal switches
on amazon the both switches are about the same price the ice candy is 3 dollars less

i wonder if filming would make a difference on them, sounded a little hollow still even after lubing
I like on 2:17 when he says coral reds it has coral red on the total but desc says Amber orange
Thank you so much. I was wonder about these two switches. Love this series

ticking sound can be solved by lubing behind the leaf :)

Bought a set for my alphas, the stem wobble is creating a lot of reverb when typing fast
Agree would prob go with the ice candys or norht poles for the better price and just lube them.
Can you do alpaca v2 vs ktt hang whites?
Could you do a "odd switch comparison" between jwick blacks and alpacas ? They look very similar but one is almost double the price
what plate did you use with these switches?
I'd love to see C2 or C3 Tangerines compared to anything else similar
Love the aqua kings, might have to grab some. Idk if its just me but it sounded like it had more of a unique "pop"
do you plan on doing a build on the bald75/feker ik75? or even the next time 75?
Which is more poppy
Jwick vs hyper glide blacks?
haha i love how you switched the thumbnail from 90 - 80 dollars

Thanks for explaining what the 2 stage spring does.
Could you compare the anubis vs boba u4t, apparently both of them thock really well and have sharp tactility.
similar sound! its like you pay less for ice candy because stem wobble is worse
