Yeah that’s why I’m like just use what you got lol. I lube light these days and I kinda wanna go start over cleaner w a new set of inks but I’m so lazy
Hey Andy. I’m curious on my box ink v2 they sound consistent with the factory lubing. But would you recommend relubing them with krytox 205g0 or just leaving it stock lube then adding film?
what if i put black ink v2 stem into box inks? do you think it is a good idea? i think it would be a better black ink v2. normal travel distance, less woble and more consistent.
they're all like.. not all the different lol i like oil king smore than box inks bc of travel but oil kings have heavy handed factory lube so it needs to be cleaned off
@@AndyVNguyen it’s true. They actually don’t have interference because gateron is using their new cap switch top housing which is a slightly different shape so that there is no interference. Box inks also do not have interference.
Tbh they are pretty good not gonna lie. I especially like them on half plate builds believe it or not. I still prefer ktt strawberry/rose switches believe it or not haha also they cost so much less. I do prefer the higher pitch nature of the box over the regular ink.
Tried some box inks and they honestly made some nice improvements 👍🏻
When you put those switches in, the right side sounded deeper for both the box inks and the regualr ink
That’s why we switch positions
Love these new videos!
Thanks as always dude, hope you and the fam have a great holiday season!
You’re welcome! Happy holidays to you too
Wonder how these would sound in a POM plate, the poppiness could be legendary for sure
The only thing putting me off ever upgrading from v2s is lubing again lol. I already lubed two sets of switches and I don't want to do it again
Yeah that’s why I’m like just use what you got lol. I lube light these days and I kinda wanna go start over cleaner w a new set of inks but I’m so lazy
Been waiting on this. Excited to eventually try these
Thoughts on the Gateron CJ?
I bought some to find out
@@AndyVNguyen ooo exciting, can’t wait to hear your thoughts on it
any chance you can do a full sound test with the box inks on the ginkgo?
that would be sick, idk if Andy did it during the stream
lots of switches have came up in the past years, are the inks still worth to get in 2021? talking abt the normal ones, not the box ones.
Hey Andy. I’m curious on my box ink v2 they sound consistent with the factory lubing. But would you recommend relubing them with krytox 205g0 or just leaving it stock lube then adding film?
That’s just preference. Totally usable stock unless you want a deeper sound. In which case lube and film
@@AndyVNguyen appreciate it!
Hey, I was in this stream! Good stuff
Lets goo was interested in your opinion on these
Weird sound at 3:56 made me think my headset was messing up.
Sound comes back at 5:19
yeah my mics kinda broked
I think that gateron is going to release a polished gateron ink. I just got the Cj poms they are insanely smooth
is this a guess or did you hear this somewhere
@@jadenngl a guess lol
Nice comparison. How does box ink pink sound compare to box ink black? More clackier, deeper, about the same?
About the same
@@AndyVNguyen thanks!
i love my box pinks. might get some box ink blacks soon too...
Box pinks sounds like an innuendo…
@@AndyVNguyen And he still hasn't mentioned lubing them..
@@AndyVNguyen only if you make it one ;)
what if i put black ink v2 stem into box inks? do you think it is a good idea? i think it would be a better black ink v2. normal travel distance, less woble and more consistent.
That sounds ridiculously expensive but.. it’ll work.
idk the box inks have a snappy sound at the end if that makes sense
That’s the effect of the long spring
Do you have a video of your break in machine? Or do you use your massage gun?
i use my break in machine. don't have a video of it up though
@@AndyVNguyen Nice! Is it something you built yourself? Or did you buy it?
I have a kbd67 lite with the silicone mat and pink box inks. It's such a beautiful clack.
nice!
What glasses was Andy using ? Does anybody know ?
Warby Parker
would they prevent north facing interference
That switch almost touched the ceiling when you opened them
Forreal, long boy is an understatement
I’m currently using them and I really like them some of my favorite switches
do you filmand lube them?
@@wuzi1217 I believe I just lubed them. Mine are pretty tight. I also think they sound a lot different then the black inc v2’s
@@Rawdilz which is more thockier? or does the box ink v2 sounds more clacky than original ink v2 cz I heard box ink are slightly clackier
@@adv_baws2385 they are more clacky
Hey Andy, could you tell me what IEMs you're using?
kit.co/andyvnguyen/random-suggestions/moondrop-starfield-c
@@AndyVNguyen Thank you!
How do these compare to the hippos? Looking for a deep n creamy build with the sun68
I suggest you to try JWK epsilon if want deep thoccy sound
@@stefanusrianto8781 thx! I’ll look into that
is it worth extra 10 usd for the box inks??
So the box ink have yet dethrone your favourite ink V1 due to its shorter travel distant. Thanks for the review.
Now... the next contest is inks, both box and non-box, against oil kings.
they're all like.. not all the different lol
i like oil king smore than box inks bc of travel but oil kings have heavy handed factory lube so it needs to be cleaned off
@@AndyVNguyen I like that the oil kings don't have interference with cherry keycaps on north facing boards.
There is no reason why that would be the case. They're not long pole
@@AndyVNguyen it’s true. They actually don’t have interference because gateron is using their new cap switch top housing which is a slightly different shape so that there is no interference. Box inks also do not have interference.
Gateron Box ink seems to be an upgraded version of the Gateron Ink Yellow v2.
oh didn't think of it like that, did the ink yellows have the same long stem thing to get that reduced travel?
anyone know the earbuds he uses?
box's have a lot better tolerances north and south. Don't HAVE to film but always recommended when you can.
Yeah if you’re gonna open em up might as well film that’s my thoughts
How would these compare to v1’s
V1 and V2 non box sound the same, except v2 has some scratchiness. box does not have scratch
Hi Andy, do you know if we need film for the box inks?
I would for sound
Box inks sound much cleaner.
Agreed
Does this replace your fave linears?
Nah I don’t like short travel switches
So then what are the fave linears?
@@zainzaidi5582 Gat Inks v1, if I'm not mistaken
wow i can put box inks in my kbd67lite
Can you do a video on the Gateron CJ switches? Heard they were the real black ink killer
Ok I bought some to try
But mom…….
They are so expensive though 😩 is it worth it?? I like how the pink ones look ahaha
Tbh they are pretty good not gonna lie. I especially like them on half plate builds believe it or not. I still prefer ktt strawberry/rose switches believe it or not haha also they cost so much less. I do prefer the higher pitch nature of the box over the regular ink.
Summary, box ink is cool but not cool enough to win me over my bestie ink black
gat inks are honestly not that good nowdays
the stem wobble on the v2's made me drop them. switched back to durock linears but now that these are released i might be willing to give them a try
i personally was never bothered by the stem wobble on v2s. short travel bothers me more
I always like a bigger hole Pause
Pausechamp
TLDR: no
neatt
Anyone don't like the appearance of box switch like me?
same here
I am freaking early this time
It’s cuz of the late upload
