Both really great switches for sure. There always will be a build that calls for the carrots and another that calls for a tangie, so no loser switches here!
The massive hole isn't just for lights to pass through opaque housing's it also makes the switch SMD compatible, lots of people overlook this and I think it should be mentioned for newer builders so they don't buy a switch that doesn't fit there PCB.
@@thamirahamed812 Surface Mount Diode, basically the led isn’t flush with the pcb so switches without the big hole like the tangerines will not fit on a board that had SMD leds
I love this series and really hope you continue it! Unfortunately the best content in this hobby doesn't always get the most clicks. But you got points from me for these videos. If you ever do another one, I NEED you to do Drop Holy Pandas VS Aflion Pandas. I've heard people say that after a long spring swap, the Aflions are better. Just a video idea im passing to you bc i dont want to spend $80 on drop holy pandas lmao
Great video louis, love the odd switches series and also I appreciate when you put the two types of switches into a full keyboard for the sound tests (other reviewers only do 1-3 switches because it takes a long time). Great job ❤🔥
Would like to say that I enjoy this series just wanted to add that Tecsee usually provides progressive springs and o-rings with their switches from my experience
The C3 tangies are super smooth; I have the 67g in my QK65 BUT they are most definitely more of a clack then a thocc which i had no idea before investing the money on them a year ago.
Honestly, any super smooth switch will have a clackier sound profile. It's the material used in the switch to make it smooth that tends to give the switch a higher pitch.
i know this is a lot of work but can you put those switches in different board/plate to see how it sound to next time? like brass/aluminum plate compare to polycarbamate plate and plastic case compare to aluminum case for those switch?
Have you heard of the Bald75v3? I was thinking of doing that build with tangerines and 9009 Keycaps. Do tangerines sound as good with plastic cases as they do with aluminum? As well as Tangerines
Can you review an episode on penyu switches (the meaning is turtle switch in malay.) it is made by Malaysia. It is a linear switch and similar to the Frankenswitch black cherry pie.
This series provides a lot of educational information about 2 switches in 1 videos, helps a lot to pick between switches. keep this going my mate, cheer !
i honestly like both of these switches and looked at both of these while making my own custom keyboard. i prefer the sound of the tangerines but I think I would go with the carrots because 1. they are so much cheaper and easy to find 2. the tangerines are just too heavy for me. If there was a tangerine switch at around 40-50 g actuation then it would be a no brainer.
Man, I can't get over how much I love TS Carrots. I think their sound profile is more muted and not as grating on the ears over a long period of time. I'm also a caveman and I like the heavier weight. Just my preference :)
I like the sound of the tecsee carrots better than the tangerines. But i don’t know what they feel like so can’t decide on that. But just for sound i prefer the carrots.
The odd switch series is awesome! Don't stop it Lewis.
thanks man
Wellll this comment didn’t age well
I agree :>

What is your opinion regarding the smoothness of the durock POM piano switch? Compared to tangerines or other smooth switches
tangies are still top rn, cjs are pretty close though
I love this series
Good video. I don’t know why more people aren’t doing these
:,)
"something down below"
They sound Identical. Carrots are good buy IMO. Only reason i could see going for the tangies is if you have board that shows them off
yes

Put Carrot's stem inside of the Tangerine housing and look how it transfers into a better Tangerine!
odd switch is awesome
I have lubed Tecsee Carrots in a Keychron Q2 with no other mods, they're great
