What if I don’t have a soup pouch to put my anchovies in? What do I do?
Use cheesecloth. Wrap the anchovies in cheesecloth, tie a knot, and then use.
Love how accommodative you are with your recipes to alter it for vegetarians... It's amazing, not many RUclipsrs do that! Loving you!
Korea ranks first among OECD member countries for vegetable consumption.
Yes. That's why it's so easy to be vegan.....just eat Maangchi's recipes all day 😁😁 Koreans eat the most veggies out of any other country that I know of....I bet they are very regular too 😂
#tastycookshow ;)
@Grace Hwang But Korea is a Developed country has many plant-based. So It is a characteristic of the country.
@@MoniquaWilliams But it's also easy to get tricked because all you see is the vegetables. Like kimchi, kimchi is not at all vegetarian. It is made with fish sauce and fermented shrimp.
Korean people cook this soup frequently. Especially, when you get hangover after you'r spending good time with your friends, Korean people used to cook this soybean sprout soup because the soybean sprout includes a lot of Arginine ingredient and it help you release hangover. It tastes good and is also folk remedies. :) !
Good morning everybody! It's 8:50 am here in New York City.
Thank you very much for your nice words and comments! Make this soup and think about me while you eat this soup just as I think about my late aunt whom I learned this from. : )
Anyway English and Korean captions are up now!
Good morning Maangchi, thanks for this refreshing recipe! 😊🥰 hot pepper flakes are always welcomed in all recipes, I have plenty to use
Cheers to your late auntie 🤍
This looks awesome! I am going to make it (minus the sardines). Thank you!
Ee
@Maangchi. Lütfen türkçe alt yazı ekler mısınız. Ben sizi severek takip ediyorum. Ama anlamıyorum bu şekilde.
Who else waves back at her every time at the end of her videos. :) so cute Maangchi you're the best.
Me!!Always!
Hi maangchi... tonight I'm going to try cooking it...will add some chicken too.
: )
My (80 yr old) mom does 💙
Beginning and end. Every time. 😁
Soybean sprouts are the BEST.
In my culture - Nigerian-ish culture, we have all sorts of soups - more like stews, honestly. Lots of vegetables and meat. Seeds are ground up and used as a thickening agent in some.
Then you eat it with your hands with fufu, which is a thick dough made with yam or plantain flower - think super thick mashed potatoes that you can roll into a ball with your hands. You use that to eat the soup!
I’m glazing over it a touch (lots of differences in how soups are made from family to family), but that’s the basic gist of it!
Sounds delicious 🥺
Made this for my wife yesterday who wasn't feeling well. It's simply amazing how delicious and healthy your recipes are! Thanks!
👍
I woke up this morning to a headache, a gloomy, bitterly cold day, and immediately knew I wanted to make some stew with Maangchi :) We love you so much! Please stay safe!
Maangchi i grew up with your channel, i started following you when I was in junior highschool. know im 21 and married, thank you for sharing korean foods and recipes. Everytime I am craving for korean food I always look up to your channel and start cooking. I hope you stay healthy ... 🤗🤗🤗

Hi! I'm from Russia. Our most typical soups are shchi (cabbage soup), borshch (vegetable soup with cabbage and beetroot), solyanka (either fish or meat soup with capers), ukha (rich fish soup), rassolnik (rice soup with pickled cucumbers), and others. Soup is a staple food for Russians.
Thks for sharing these names. I have to search youtube for these.
@@msm1096 Thank you for your interest 🙂
OH MY GOD MAANGCHI I am growing my own beansprouts for the first time! Its now day three! what a coincidence!
@@user-no9im9px6e you put soft tofu in your sprout soup? That sounds delicious!!
I just finished some homegrown soybeans this week but i sure know what i'll try with the next batch.
This soup is famous for relieving hangovers. Recommend to eat after over drinking
There’s so many simple versions of this soup. My mom throws in tofu & it’s just as delicious. I’m actually cooking this now. Thank you!
I loooooove it when Maangchi washes things! SO therapeutic! And OMG SOUP YAAY! Always so so happy to see a new video! Thank you thank you Maangchi!
I agree!
Perfect timing, I always love making your soup recipes when it gets cold outside, and I was just thinking of growing another batch of sprouts. I have learned so much about cooking from you!
OMG I wanted to make this soup like 2 days ago and thought to myself that I'd wait for you to make a video for the recipe!!! Thank you so much for being telepathic...
I’ve been watching you for years and love your content! I remember being in school and going to the library with my best friend and we’d watch your videos during lunch. Everything always looks so tasty! ♥️
I’ve tried your old recipe, so delicious.. looking forward to trying this one.
Bag says sprouts are triple washed, maangchi washes them anyway lol, I love her
Haha, I didn't read it!
I would still wash it anyway too, lol.
Thank You Maangchi. I hope to make your recipe this week. Can't wait!! Please, Stay Strong, Be Well and Safe, Cook and Eat On!
My mom always made me trim the "tails" off. Now I wonder if she was just keeping me busy!
Omg! My mom did too. My sister and I would sit for an hour an pick the tail ends off. Not all Koreans do this. But, my mom said it helps with the bitterness, if you remove the ends. Thanks for sharing. I thought we were the only one who did this. Lol!!!
@@hopelove7358 I'm so glad it wasn't just me! 😂 I still do this...even though it takes forever!
My mum finds the bean sprout tail dirty that's why she makes me remove them lol
@@1syleni Same here! Lol
@kimchi-roll, most households in Asia who savors soybean sprout dishes picked the tails off. But if you go to the restaurant, they seldom have the tails off coz it takes a lot time to do that. Time is money for them. My mom used to make me pick the tails off when I was small when preparing sprout dishes...I love sprout dishes...I am from Malaysia
My mom just made this for me, I wasn't feeling very good but this definitely helped make me feel better! 💜
Great!
When you were slicing the onion I thought it would've been fun if you magically ended up with a fish in your hand like you do in the intro. LOL
No matter what happens in my day Maangchi, your voice always puts a smile on my face! Love ❤️
This looks incredible! Thanks for showing us how you eat it...I'm learning that my Korean friends each have their own way of eating many foods. What they mix with rice in the spoon, what they mix into the bowls, it shows how individual it can be! Very different from Japanese and Chinese methods of eating meals (and I'm half Chinese and grew up in Japan...) I was at a wonderful Korean restaurant in LA and watching the table of 4 next to me eat....they all had a different approach to the food on the table, it was great.
One of my absolute favourite soups. Easy, inexpensive and healthy. Helps with my allergies and awful digestive issues. I use dashi rather than dried anchovies for the stock. Totally yummy. (Note: this freezes surprisingly well.)
Maangchi!!!! I made bean sprouts and shared with my neighbor!!! Thank you so much for your guidance.
proud of myself to get to know you MAANGCHI. I am so crazy about Korean now learning recipes from you. 정말 고맙습니다 for sharing the recipes maangchi❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ i learn so many things from you that my mom didn't teach me cause we are not close thank you so much maangchi for teaching me how to wash vegetable and so many more thing I learn are from you.
👏
IT'S SOUP SEASON EVERYBODYYYYYYYYY
It's good for your health, and if you drink and eat the next day, you'll feel comfortable and strong It's so nice to eat bean sprout soup with rice.It tastes better with kimchi as a side dish.
It's so nice to see you cook happily.Way to go!
my two culture-soups: "Caldo Verde" (Caldo Verde in Portuguese cuisine, with basic traditional ingredients use collard greens, potatoes, olive oil, black pepper and salt, garlic and onion can be added as well, and some slices of chouriço) and "Bouneschlupp" (Bouneschlupp is a traditional Luxembourgish green bean soup with potatoes, bacon, and onions.)
Wow~!! maangchi's explanation is kind. Good video! Happy New Year to all of you.😄🏃♀️☘🍀💰
I love Maangchi❤️ Best cook on RUclips 🙂❤️
Thank you so much for showing us even the little things about cooking, like how to tell which bean sprouts are bad... it's hard to learn those from a written recipe, and it's the sort of thing that many people take for granted that you'll know how to do! Many thanks and best wishes from Chicago 🖤
👍
I love your channel. I really like how you share little bits of your culture and teach us Korean. Thank you 😊
*You look like a pretty mom of Korea. so pretty and having a nice cooking skill* 😊
*supporting you from Seoul*
This is beyond delicious! Thank you so much for showing us this amazing soup!
Lovely recipe 👌🏻 Greetings from Scotland ♥️ Have a lovely day everyone 😍
Perfect for the cold day and snow outside!
Excellent as always! Look forward to more.
You are the best!! I always wait for your videos 💖
Vietnamese fermented rice fish soup!
It's fragrant and mildly sour since it contains strained fermented rice. We love eating this in the summer as it can cool your body's temperature. It's Northern Vietnamese dish.
Remind me of my mom so much but she doesn't cook as much as she used to so im learning to make all my fav dishes since she is not able to teach me in person. Appreciate this!
I'll have to try this! I need more soups in my life
Will be making this one this weekend. Perfect for cold weather. So excited already.
I believe there is no daily soup here in Czechia but usually it's beef or chicken stock with frozen vegetables and some smaller pasta/noodle. Other common ones are potato soup with mushrooms (boleti/porcini), sauerkraut, tomato, goulash, garlic or even rye-based sourdough soup with potatoes, dried mushrooms and scrambled eggs.

Beautiful recipe ❤️❤️
Looks great!
I love soup! I make a soup every Sunday for lunch or dinner throughout the work week. My go-tos are my mom's chicken noodle soup, pasta fagiole, avgolemono, and lemon chicken orzo. Now that it's fall/winter though I do the occasional hearty stew or chili too. And I've made several of your soups! I love soup ❤
You asked about soups we like in our culture. I'm American and my favorite soup is called French Onion. It's a broth (usually beef but I use vegetable bc i'm a vegetarian) and lots of delicious onions with a melted blend of cheese on top! Very good and very filling.
This is one of my favorite soups. It’s very light and refreshing. So good in the winter time.
Very healthy and tasty. Thank you for sharing dear.

Yummy recipe, Thanks for sharing.
Everyday soup in Ukraine is named "Borsch" with red beetroot
I found your channel years ago because I wanted to make kimchi, I stayed for recipes like this! I bought dried anchovies a while ago and didn’t know what to do with them
what a perfect recipe for winter!
Thank you for sharing 💕
Made this today. Thank you for the recipe!
Wonderful!
idk if this counts as soup but I grew up with my mom and my grandmother making a big pot of lima beans seasoned with ham hocks all the time especially when it was cold. They'd serve it with southern styled corn bread and my grandmother would also serve her's with rice and sometimes with fried little corn bread cakes. When I was older I discovered I liked adding hot sauce to my lima beans. Lots of memories of enjoying a bowl of hot lima beans with my family and it make the house smell so good.
