Thank you so much, Maangchi, for sharing not just your recipe, but your culture from your life stories, so warming of the heart, not just the stomach (!) ... and what I realise that you not only teach us how to cook, but more importantly, how to eat and enjoy the dish, because that understanding is actually the foundational knowledge of how to cook properly ... so this is why you are so different from any other online chef .... you don't just teach techniques... you teach how to eat, and enjoy simple but indispensable part of life ... and in so doing, you enrich other people's lives, not just their cooking skills .... I deeply thank and respect you .... take care...

The owner is so friendly and my children love going there and looking at all the different foods. One day I will take them to Korea (South obviously!) So we can try all of the beautiful dishes you show us! I love Korean cuisine and hope to learn more about the culture xx

I am so thankful to my husband for introducing me to Korean cuisine and culture, he lived and taught in South Korea and he speaks the language too, so I got to know about their food, culture, cinema. We go to Korean markets around here and Korean restaurants and we get the chance to chat a bit with Koreans. He got me Maangchi's recipe book. So far I cooked the hangover bone soup and the mushroom soup, they were both pretty good. Thank you Maangchi for teaching and spreading the Korean culture and your people's good spirits around the world.

I made this last night because we had lots of leftover rice and beansprouts from making lettuce wraps, and it was perfect. We used the stir fried konbu as a topping. I made a side with zucchini, tomato, and canned tuna. I just ate the leftovers for lunch today. I've always had leftover beansprouts that would go bad, but with this, never again! Thank you!!

I can relate to your story about your teacher. I grew up in Mexico and my school would close the gates when class started. I was the only student allowed to leave the campus because I was responsible. I must have been 6or 7. I’d go to the convenience store to get my teacher’s favorite bread and if it was cold I’d bring her coffee or a Mexican drink called champurado. She would pay me a peso every day to do this. I felt so proud of myself. Loved your story as it reminded me of my own. Thank you! Love you Maangchi!
