    Super build!! A plethora of great ideas. For the leg under the work surface extension, maybe a round magnet that will attract the tip of the rod (if it's steel), and additional magnets along the length that attract/grab/hold the rod when you place it underneath? No hardware, no fiddling. The best build I've seen, especially in maximizing every square inch of volume. Well done.

    Really good set of videos. I am thinking of doing exactly what you did. I think the fridge being down low, and save space up top for camp chairs/table, etc. And for most part clear rear view for driving. MSA drop down slide looks cool, but I bet you pay a pretty penny for that thing. Thanks for as really good detailed set of videos.

    Awesome build mate! Educational, inspirational and entertaining, what a combo. Can't ask for more than that.😊
    Yet another suggestion for the slide out table, turn it into a thin drawer and have the table as a drop in from the top (with finger holes to lift it out).
    The top could be supported by dividers in the drawer, it wouldn't need to be very thick. Use this drawer to store the support leg, air compressor hose and fitting or any other low profile items. Just a thought, but I reckon you'd be stocked just the way it is (I would be).

    Really glad you've gone to the effort of making this video and the how to video mate, I'm in the process of building my GU and keep coming back to the question of "How am I going to set up the rear?" Ps.....i have drifter drawers that were already in my navarra when i bought it and after seeing your build im now going to rebuild it in the same fashion as yours..A 90ltr fridge freezer on top of the drawer system is not ideal and takes up a lot of useable space and like you said, the drop down slides are very heavy. • @Australian4x4Adventures
      @Australian4x4Adventures  3 года назад +1

      Yeah I’ve considered that and still may do it.
      Because I don’t have a stopper for the drawer coming all the way out. The ply on ply friction as it gets further out stops it from coming all the way out when on a downward lean.
      So I’m 50/50 on if I wanna do it or not.

    Mate this is nothing short of amazing! Obviously your trade skills help immensely but to also share that knowledge and give people like me (An I.T Dude) a chance to actually feel like I could tackle this and not waste $900 bucks of materials on a pile of garbage.
    Absolute props to you sir.
    Also think you should add your merch store as a link in your videos. I'd happily support it especially for this kind of content. Legend

    Good work. You could get a Kaon roof shelf (not cheap) and hang the travel Buddy from under it. There are brackets on eBay for them. No carpet fires 🔥

    • @Australian4x4Adventures
      @Australian4x4Adventures  3 года назад

      Yeah I’ve seen them but I’m not sure I’ll have any room left above the drawers if I put one of their shelves in.

  • @MatRug1

    If you are putting rails on the top, just make up a cradle for the travel Buddy to sit in/on. A couple of easy cam locks to put it in & remove when not needed.
    Simples :) Also with slide out table, just hinge the leg underneath.

    Very nice how that worked out for you with the top drawer being clear of the top of the tailgate that's what we call them here in the states anyway I don't know what you guys call them but where it clears the top of the tailgate and you can still access your top drawer I would probably go one step farther though and add a a maybe one foot by one foot square trap door in the bottom of that drawer just in case you need to get to something important in the bottom drawer you wouldn't have to take but just a couple things out of the top drawer open your trap and you can reach right into the bottom drawer if there's necessities you know that you need from in there just a thought you never know..

    • @Australian4x4Adventures
      @Australian4x4Adventures  3 года назад

      Haha. Yeah I got lucky with that one.
      I’m probably going to make an internal shelve so I can have two layers of things in the one drawer as they are fairly deep.

    Sweet set of drawers mate 👌 love it when things work out better than planned! I totally guessed the height of my drawers and it worked out better than perfect! 👍😁
    Definitely carpet inside the drawers - completes the whole thing 👌
    That's a massive weight savings👍

      Yeah the weight saving was massive for me. Which was my main goal from the start.

    Suggest mounting the travel buddy on a right so tucks near the window. Little shelf (wing) the same height as the top.

    • @Australian4x4Adventures
      @Australian4x4Adventures  3 года назад

    My mates dad made drawers and use candle wax to make it slide then went to laminex slides. Started 30 years ago in his 4wd.

      I honestly don’t even know what drifta drawers are worth. I never asked the for a price.

    • @MadmanJnr
      @MadmanJnr 3 года назад

      Depends on what you want but what you have built would probably be around 2.5k. but then you need to add bits like your battery box and air fittings etc.
      I really like those draw handle/latches.

    Awesome setup
    I’m currently planning to do something similar, so is the main framework and fridge slide out of 15mm ply ?
    And how are the draws holding up with weight in them
    being 12mm thick ply.
    Thanks

    Great video exactly what I think I will be doing on v2 of my draw setup didn’t want a drop slide. Curious but do you have measurements on how deep you went on the fridge slide and table under it?

    If you put the travel buddy at the other end of the drawers and access it from the back passenger door, will reduce the dead space behind it.

    • @Australian4x4Adventures
      @Australian4x4Adventures  3 года назад +1

      Yeah I had it that way in my last setup and I think it’s prolly the best way still. I’ll end up changing it back that way I think.
