    I've read quite a number of comments after my first post and its amazing how so many are happy to hammer Luke without knowing what's he's done over the yrs. Sur, Luke is overly passionate about his beliefs and loves his family.
    An attack on his integrity is unfounded IMHO.
    How many can say they have done as much as Luke for a small town community such as Gloucester. Luke headed up the campaign to keep the Australian bush clean to the point he and Kaito would go bush and drag car bodies onto a car trailer to dispose of properly when councils wouldn't do the same.
    He has given support to non Australian communities in aid to benefit their life styles. If anyone else commenting on agreement with Steve. Ask yourself, have you given as much selflessness to aid community and people over the last 10 yrs? I'm doubtful many can.
    It's a sad day when lines of media can create an personal stream like this.
    In clarity, I have nothing against making a point of your own opinion, but this video is not the way to do it.

    • @Australian4x4Adventures
      @Australian4x4Adventures  2 года назад +3

      Hey old fella.
      I noticed your fairly passionate about this subject which is fantastic to see.
      You’ve made a few points that I want to try and clear up.
      Firstly, this isn’t an attack on Luke. This is something that hopefully opens Luke’s eyes to the image he is showing on social media.
      Second. I don’t need to personally know Luke to have an opinion on what his putting out on a public social media account. Just as I get judged for my actions that I portray on social media he will as well.
      Third. You’ve mentioned in a couple of comments that this video is only for my gain ( I’m presuming you mean subscribers and alike ) but that couldn’t be further from the truth from my end. I put my own brand at great risk to make this video as I knew full well there would be a lot of ppl that disagree with me as well ( I actually thought there would be more that disagreed but I was wrong ) obviously you prolly won’t believe me on that but for me I was genuinely worried about doing damage to my own brand. And to a small extent I have, I have lost some loyal subscribers because they don’t want to see this sort of stuff.
      But I felt very strongly about this subject and felt it was worth the risk.
      Lastly I want to bring to your attention the amount of comments in my favor of agreement.
      That alone should show you that the branding that Luke is putting out at the moment IS doing damage and IS having an effect on sales.
      You may not like to hear it ( as I’m sure Luke won’t like hearing it ) but it’s obviously true givin the 650 comments are 95% in favor of my views.
      I understand he may have done some great things for the community over the years and I hope he gets back to doing more of that and less of what he has been doing for the last few months.
      Luke would never talk to me about this subject prior to this video so I NEEDED to make a BIG statement online to get his attention and hopefully bring the brand back into the great light it deserves to be in.
      I’ve had a few ppl from drifta HQ msg me actually thanking me for the video as they are hoping it opens Luke’s eyes as well.
      Thanks for all of your comments and I hope you take this on board.

    What is safe and what is legal/illegal are two different things. I just did a chopped 80 series conversion with extended chassis and gvm upgrade etc and got it all engineered. We had to do a hydro booster upgrade, fully brace F+R rear diffs, brace chassis suspension mounts simply for a 3495kg GVM. We asked for a higher GVM, that was the highest the engineer would allow. We asked to get 35's engineered but was not allowed that either. This 80 series has been beefed up way more than some factory cars that come with big lifts and big tyres and high GVM's from factory. Its not the engineers fault though, they are simply following the rules themselves. The people making those rules are where i believe the issue lies. This is in VIC by the way. I personally know someone with a chopped 80 series that had it engineered in QLD with 35s and a 3495kg GVM WITHOUT any brake upgrade or diff bracing. It just annoys me that somethings that are safe, are illegal, and other things that are approved and legal, are not always safe.

    • @Australian4x4Adventures

    • @deanworsley5208
      @deanworsley5208 2 года назад +1

      The thing is your idea on what is safe is based on your knowledge, experience, qualifications etc. Mine will be different, as will everyone on this channel for the same reasons. While I agree in principle with your opening comment, the real problem and issue that I have is how what is considered legal/illegal differs across the different states, these rules all exist supposedly to increase safety yet there seems to be a bit of mystery as to how to interpret them. If I'm not mistaken all these rules and regs are based on ADRs? From my research this is the case, why then, are they being enforced differently in different states?

All the engineering Certs and track days to sign it off didn’t mean shit when the work wasn’t legal by the book. 35s on pretty much anything that isn’t. Most of what you've said about the legal/illegal (not necessarily unsafe) mods is fact mate. It's got to be remembered that the coppers being slammed are the same ones who have to put bodies of motor accident victims into body bags and have to tell the families. Engineers know a whole lot more about the deeper impacts modifications than what we do, I might not like it but it's the truth.
    As for what actions of Luke from Drifta, if nothing else it's really unprofessional and people tend to take as fact, the opinions and 'advice' offered up by professionals so very irresponsible and dangerous territory for him to be ranting on a business social media page.

      Great point. My Dad was a copper, was general duties then moved into scenes of crime photography and he dealt with bodies every day. Kids being killed by mistakes of parents and other horrendous things. People like Luke rant and rave but could never do the job they do. I've been to two fatalities car accidents and tried to do first aid to save them and they both died and that will never leave me, and that's only 2 occasions when the cops deal with way, way more than that. His unprofessional raving about these 'awful' cops just doing their jobs is actually disgusting and I'll never spend a cent with drifta. His inflated ego is going to lose him plenty of business.

He is a user and a fake down to the core, to his employees, customers and his friends. He still owes me $500 or something and pays a lot of employees under the table so his complaining about the costs to run a business I found to be quite entertaining... anyways I could go on and on but it sounds like its nothing that you or other people in the comments don't already know. Steve, freedom of speech is a luxury we have in Australia. I don't dispute the legality of this discussion. However the longer this video goes the more hypercritical I find it.
    Luke is a friend of mine and that's not to say everything he does is correct or I agree with.
    Anyone that knows Luke personally will agree he is far from the person people may see him to appear to be on social media when he has a rants.
    Sadly the Aussie way is to apply the small poppy syndrome.
    Some of your comments are very inaccurate about the company and products and to imply the company is dodgy is well off topic and wrong.
    In view of the final remarks, seems there is more to this video than your personal opinion and maybe a chance to gain a greater media base.
    Ill probably get hammered for being on the other side of the fence about Luke. Knowing him personally he is one of the few truly Australian blokes I know.
    Personal attacks on media channels is not something I agree with and always tends to move to a witch hunt.

    I & the wife live full time in Mansfield, and am a avid 4wd enthusiast, The local police are red hot on extreme machines round these parts, The Local Social Media sites, showed clearly the local police working the main street booking illegal vehicles as they sat parked up in the main street on most days of the recent Easter break.
    Quite a few were loaded onto to tow trucks, not allowed to be driven away, So they weren't discriminating, if it was illegal, you were being pinged,
    Being a member of the local volunteer emergency services up this way, we openly support, illegally modified machines being put off the road in and around the high country.. We get regular callouts for vehicles in trouble up in the hills, over the long weekend breaks,
    The reason are varied for the call outs, but most are for vehicle roll-overs , I will hold my personal thoughts as to why a lot of these incidence occur, but the police aren't dummies, they have the job of working out the reasons for the majority of these events an respond accordingly with more active policing in and around the high country, hence the very serious response to these types of vehicles visiting Mansfield and the Beautiful High Country,
    At the end of the day, we all want to go home safe, and Locals love visitors, but if you want to push the legal requirements of a roadworthy vehicle in Vic, Mansfield's probably not the place to visit lol

      Yea, that's bollocks, quite often police will ignore engineers certs (which make a vehicle legal) or pin people for factory components. Plenty of videos and photos out there of fellas being reamed on the roadside to take it to the inspector, the inspector finds everything ticks the boxes and the photos show the vehicle has not changed. You just sound like the 4wd version of a Fudd. As someone who is also a member of an emergency service and road crash qualified a large proportion of accidents I see are roll overs as well - and they're on the highway... it's almost like it's common for people to avoid things and momentum carries vehicles over....

    • @thang55
      @thang55 Год назад +2

      @@Dig163 I'm with you on this. The only study conducted on 4wd involvement in crash data carried out by Monash University showed that despite the high rollover risk, 4wds were under represented in crashes. They put this down to drivers and found that driver style is the main factor in crashes, not the vehicles.
      The police have biases and act on them, not necessarily statistics. I have a number of friends that are ex police and they talk about a very toxic culture within the regular force and something much worse within traffic. We had a cop in Perth that had a person grudge with 4wds. He was responsible for half the defects in the city.
      It was so bad that he was pushed out and now drives trains, but this was after all the damage he did to the reputatin and credibility of the department.
      The Mansfield police are showing their discrimination when it comes to protecting and serving. I'd love to see their crime performance statistics or hear some stories about there general policing stories. We have some horro stories here in WA and when they make it to the public areana the Commissioner will shut them down, I have heard him do this. They are like a lot of government departments, they have zero contingency for making mistakes, they just don't acknowledge that they do.

    Luke has created something great, but like a lot of people who can create something, they shouldn't be running it, get a GM.. He does seem very intense and angry, he fixates on things, like leaf springs are the best, and just won't admit that he is wrong for a lot of situations. Id does not surprise me at all he is, or would be, an anti vaxxer or rabid conspiracy theorist.

If someone decides that experimental vaccines are not for them that’s fair enough and their right to choose without discrimination should be supported by all.

While I agree with your basic premise that Luke needs to keep his personal opinion off of his business media, I wonder if you recognise that you're sharing your personal opinion on one of your business platforms. As for the issue at hand, I used to get pissed off when I got a speeding fine and I'd blame the police for "revenue raising". The bottom line is that if I wasn't speeding, I wouldn't have copped a fine. It's called accountability. It sounds to me like Luke got pissed that Kaito's car got defected and he's blaming the cops for doing their job. At the same time, I believe that the laws need to match throughout the country instead of being different in different states. That, I blame the government for.

    Agree that Luke should keep his personal views about whatever off his business pages. But Luke has stated from the start of Drifta Stockton that it is a completely different business to the original Drifta business and that the Stockton products would be out sourced. I am lead to believe that if he didn’t do this, the original business would have failed. I am also of the understanding that both Luke and Kaito, test and tweak a good amount of their Stockton products before they are put up for sale. Who knows who will come knocking on his electronic door...wonder whether the trip will be a business expense for promotion say...and the deputy commisioner of taxation tells one of his colleagues to flag and review the financials at tax time..could find himself having an audit which is annoying. I do not follow neither Luke or Kaito on any social media so unaware of this. But what I found interesting is the XR6 Seats part. I didn't realise fitting XR6 seats is considered illegal unless engineered. This is a very popular mod on the 80 Series Landcruiser. I am actually seriously considering this for my 80. I am just waiting for a reasonably priced set in good condition to come on sale. Then get the seat rails adapter kit from the guys at Huracan Fabrication (based in VIC). Since they commercially sell them, wouldn't they be engineered to meet ADR Compliance? If I have to get my own engineering certificate done, then I won't bother. What about the the other aftermarket seat brands (ie. Recaro, Stratos, Sheel-mann etc), does it mean you'll also need to get it engineered if fitting any of them?

      Coming from a modified car background. Seats are usually fine. If they've come out of something domestically sold and legally registered here they must be complaint with ADR. This is why Honda Integra Recaros were such a popular swap in almost any Japanese performance car. You can pretty much use any seat you like, unless you had curtain airbags within the seat as it's a defect to disconnect/remove. Same goes for airbag steering wheels to non airbag. You will never get your car registered, and if it makes it past your rego check, your insurance is most likely void in the event they do the assessment. The thing that they are picky about is seat rails, you can't muck around with those and they need to be ADR approved/engineer signed them off. You'll find adaptor plates and brackets sold everywhere but few if any will be ADR approved. No one wants seat's coming apart from the floor in the event of an accident

      Firstly is that his hurting not openly his business but all the ppl that rely on the job they have under him. If he fails then all of them suffer. Drifta is in a small town and employs ALOT of the locals and there arnt a lot of other opportunities.
      2 and prolly my bigger beef.
      As a social media person and in his case a large social media person. I feel he has a responsibility to be held to a certain level.
      So at the moment his showing all his young and impressionable followers that it’s perfectly fine to illegally modify your car and say stuff the police.

    I'm 100% on drifta's side here. Like come on, beadlocks in an off-road situation should be allowed 100%. And so what that he changed the seats? The cops just had nothing better to do and thought they would pull him up to make it an easy booking until they worked out most of it was engineered so they just clutched at whatever they could to justify the time to pull him over in the first place.

    • @4WheelingInNSW
      @4WheelingInNSW 3 месяца назад

      You'll find though they had no problem with bead locks as such, the issue came into it when driving in the public domain and on public roads, that's the problem. Same with the seat modification. The rules and regulations are in place to protect EVERYONE on our roads, not just a select few. If his vehicle was illegally modified and not plated, the infringements are justifed by the law enforcers.
