I'm very fussy about the way I fill water containers. Mostly plastic jerry cans. I use a food grade hose on any town water tap and often an inline B.E.S.T water filter connected to the food grade hose, if filling from a water tank or suspicious source. The water out of the plastic jerry can, then tastes fine. However these days I often do what luke suggested, and use purchased drinking water when on road trips. I'm glad you made that video to clear up that bladder issue, as I was warned about the bladders. However now I have a better understanding of the situation concerning bladders and I am once again, ready to buy one. 😊

Great products as it can be a live saver, or most likely just a simple and easy way to carry water in otherwise wasted space!

Spot on mate, we use our purely for showers & wash up. PVC will always have a small taste. The bladder is a great product.

Well said Luke, people are quick to blame these days, unfortunately common sense isn’t common sense

Agree 100%, been using the same system and water setup for years. The bladder is awesome, I just put an old towel over the seat bars to protect the bladder, this is handy as most times I fill it I spill some water 😂 . Definitely going to get one of the bags for the bladder, great idea and several benefits.

What I do is get food grade hose and plug it into the tap. Before the tank I put an inline water filter. So I’m filling the tank/bladder/jerry from any tap with pure, filtered water. Same as the servo bottles. Luke, you need to sell inline water filters too!

That makes no sense, the taste comes from inside the bladder.

@@404errorpagenotfound.6 not with a good grade Jerry. Minimal anyway

Thanks Luke water quality, storage and use is super important I have invested in a lifesaver water can with the built in filter for drinking water and have two of your bladders to store water the boot-liner outer bag is a fantastic piece of mind gear [no rub through rips and tears] good to see your making the boot liner bags now I had two boot liner bags made 8 months ago and my bladders still look new thanks for all the quality gear.👍👍👍

I have several 10 litre sea to summit water carriers to hold drinking water. Carry 1 for weekend trips. Carry several for longer trips.
PVC for shower and washing up. Also carry a water survival water purifier. It’s that simple.

I used Camec Tank Cleen water tank cleaner in my 110L, it got rid of the PVC taste. Its the same with Camelbak backpack bladders, you need to clean them chemically before you drink from them to get rid of the rubber taste. As long as you keep it sealed from the light, bacteria won't grow inside it during storage. If you really aren't sure, just give it a rinse with Camec again and you can drink from it again. I also take my own drinkwater safe hose (blue coloured hose from BCF) and fittings with me on my trip.

Easiest way to get rid of the taste is add a bit of cordial , you’re welcome

As mentioned in other comments, it’s common sense. Shame people can’t use their brains to join the dots.

I reckon you're brave Luke. You can't fix stupid but Lord knows you have to keep trying. Any experienced caravanner knows you don't fill the kettle from the connector hose when it's been in the sun. You run it till you're drawing good water. Not hard, not rocket science.
As you say, otherwise it tastes like ....... 😆

Wash it with soap ,then rinse. Wash with bicarb soda rinse again. Carbon filter on the output. Food grade hose is best to use.

MSR Dramedary bags, 10 liters. Made of food grade polyurethane. BPA free. Super durable. Small enough to store in space voids.

Too many people don't understand the realities of products like this.
I never expected the water bladder to be used for anything else than washing and shower water

Did that actually work , with the alcohol drawing out the pvc residue or did you just get drunk and didn’t notice the taste?

Hey mate, I have the larger of your water bladders (110 litre?) I fill it with a drinking water safe hose and a B.E.S.T water filter, no pvc taste and I use it for drinking water…no one ever complains…

Rubbish in rubbish out. Had a 650mill lifesaver drink bottle and now have a 3 litre lifesaver, any old dirty creek I fill up and zap can drink straightaway clean clear water. Designed so you can screw 1 litre bottle on to it too and drink nice clean water. Prior to filling Jerry cans at home I water a few plants to run hose cleaner, not so much of a concern now with lifesaver

Go to another state and taste the water, every where you go water will taste different it’s just at home it tastes the same because that’s what your used to, if you had a PVC header tank in the roof at home eventually tap water from pipes would taste weird.

  • @404errorpagenotfound.6

This is the same as rainwater tanks in houses. Experiments with pigs show they will always drink water from steel tanks given a choice.
