- This DIY truck bed slide and drawers nearly broke me. It was totally worth it though. Now I can easily access my bug-out and survival gear. 60% OFF + FREE SHIPPING go to GreenChef.com and enter HAXMAN60 bit.ly/3jlASWP! Systems from Decked and ARB were similar to what I wanted but didn't quite suit my needs. I like to keep my truck prepared for any emergency and these truck bed drawers and slide help me achieve that. Plus I was able to keep my molle panels attached to the sides of the truck bed. Keeping appropriate survival gear in the vehicle means I can bug out or get home in an emergency.

Best part of that is your daughter was thinking she was just helping dad. But those memories will be bigger! Plus she’s learning some real skills. Way to go Dad. Insert Trace Atkins song. “She just thinks we’re fishing”
Dont know what your final cost was, but the value in working and playing with your daughter and building memories, PRICELESS. Glad to see there are still some DADS out there. Wish you luck and health.
That hit hard you informing us this was the first project since your father's passing, very sorry for your loss... 36yrs old and I have no idea what I'm going to do when that time comes. I too call him for nearly every project and it seems he's always got a simple and effective way to do it causing me to throw out the plans I drew up like a 5yr old lol.
@@ericculver9700 Absolutely man! We hang out all the time, projects are our hobbies lol. Growing up my father was a pretty bad alcoholic, except once a year we'd go camping/fishing for one week and he wouldn't drink. But it got worse after his company shut down, long story short he's been completely sober for a few years now and every time him and I are off we're doing something together whether it be working on a project, grilling, or just sitting around shooting the breeze.
I'm only 1.5 minutes in, already smiling! Your honesty, bluntness, admitting to mistakes - HELL YEAH !
Wish I was more patient with my son when doing projects. Love how you are with your daughter and wife. Bravo sir!
Condolences about your dad, you did em proud though. Your family, business, both awesome, what else is there? Just found your channel not too long ago, love it. Binge watching like a mad man.
Thank you Sam
I love your honesty and overall silliness! Cracks me up
Thanks!
Your youngest is learning so much from you with these projects. Well done. On the other hand, when she starts dating, many many years from now, she will be much more capable than anyone she meets. It continually surprises me how little practical knowledge people are taught these days. Or how little desire they have to learn.
Thanks! We try to make an effort to involve our girls in everything we do so they can learn. That’s what my parents did.
20 seconds in and can't thank you enough for restoring my hope in these projects. Just built van racking and multiple drawers set up and a lot of head scratching and profanities got me through it. I'm not the sharpest tool in the box but neither am I the dullest. Watching the average build video and they make it look a breeze, which had me questioning my competence. I guess if you're looking to do a build that is specific to your needs and high quality, then the stress levels rise.
Tip on the cut strip- For miluwakee track saw anyway- if you just measure 3/16s past your desired cut. You can line the metal track up with that mark. Great project! You've inspired me to build my own and not waste 1600 on Decked.
Great Vid. Sorry to hear about your father. I'm in the same boat. It make me work even harder to come up with solutions knowing how proud he would be. All his hard work over the years paid off. Love your channel.
Thank you so much Otis
The most important, actually, the only important part of this entire project is that you did it with your daughter. Memories she'll have forever.
I bought a bed slide for my Avalanche 9 years ago. Best thing ever, used it for camping and my acreage. And now for the city, its still awesome. I bought mine that was made for my truck though, so install was 30 minutes and the best $1000 I ever spent. Could I of built it myself, probably. And then years would of passed because I wouldn't of. Sometimes money is well spent. But an awesome job
I feel like you're the type of man who needs to be reminded that perfection is the nemesis of good enough. Respect.
That turned out amazing.
Im so very sorry about the loss of your Dad. How wonderful that he left such good memories......as you are doing for your kids (and viewers).
Thank you
My work Tahoe had a "Truck Vault" in it. They have models that don't go all the way to the sides. Even the pre-made units can be a pain to install properly, but those drawers sure nice once it is in. I added some D-ring tie down points to the side of mine and it let me strap down stuff I put on top of it to keep the stuff from sliding around.
You just made me want to go out and buy one from the factory. Nice job though!
Same here. The final result looks nice, but my days of trying stuff like that are over.
Luv to see you and your daughter working together on this one! It looks great! Awesome job team! 😊👍 Enjoy the humor in your videos too, and of course the 🐥💩! 🤷🏼♀️ Thank you for sharing!
Thanks so much!
Thanks!
Thank you so much Mario!
Loved watching this video. I think it’s super cool you having your daughter help out with your project. I can sympathize with your work station. I have not even a one car garage so I do all my projects in the driveway. It makes it hard to get motivated sometimes. I just finished a bedslide project myself. Yours turned out really nice. I kept a hoe to get the stuff in the front of the bed. As for the chip guard on your track saw mine did the same thing I used some 1/32” double sided tape (VHB tape). Fixed it.
Enjoy the channel my friend, I’m waiting for your underground bunker build lol. We also should see you make a homemade bow n arrow.
I love your videos and your honesty, silliness, workmanship!
Always a fun video experience, even if the topic is of no interest.
This is a topic of interest!! I need these so bad. and the ready-to-buy options are too damn much $$$.
Thanks
I'm so glad to hear that! Thank you!
Really nice project Haxman. Thanks for bringing us along.
Thank you Paul!
I like bed liner--used it on my exterior doors on my utility buildings. AND I am starting to cover an old truck in bed liner. ALOT cheaper than a shiny fancy paint job!
7:53 every trial and tribulation of this project just melts away. Now it’s a priceless truck bed drawer. Can’t buy that at the store.
Maybe wait a bit to take em to the gun range 😅
SO glad to see a video from you. I was getting worried how the homestead was doing.
I really like this project. It makes me want a truck again. Last one I had was an '86 F-150 Regular cab, long bed, front & back fuel tanks, 4 speed with a creeper gear. AH, I do not miss the 12MPG it got.
I can't believe the chickens didn't poop on the driveway on Day 5. I think they are slipping. ;)
Thanks! Unfortunately gas mileage hasn’t improved much. 😄
@@HAXMAN Yeah, but who doesn't miss that E0 BTU punch! 😁
We had to search for your recent video so we signed up for notifications eve though we were subscribed. YT wasn’t recommending your video. Once again, we LOVE your videos and laugh and are thoroughly entertained. We always look forward to them. Take care and be blessed!
Thank you! Yeah this video has tanked so far. 😂 Maybe YT didn’t show it as much.
@@HAXMAN That’s why I thought I’d tell you your video wasn’t recommended. Have heard a lot of Prepper/Homesteader type sites are getting suppressed. Off Grid with Doug and Stacy is one of them that had this happen. Check your number of subscribers and other data points to see if the trend shows YT might be playin’ games. 😉
Seconded! I was wondering how Adam was doing and realized YT hasn't recommended the last 2 vids.
Do you have any rough measurements, I absolutely love that setup, I have a truck on 37 inch tires and this would make getting to things in the bed so much better
I began watching y’all for the chicken content. Thanks for all the good info laced with grins and giggles. Folks take themselves too seriously these days. I watched this one and, dang! Watching you and your daughter build that together, I found myself watching and crying. What a lovely family. We have 2 grown daughters and now 2 great sons in law of our own. Though the days are long and sometimes slow, the years go by so fast. Be so thankful you have this video record of the daily moments that make our normal everyday lives remarkable and ever so special. Moments like these, playing tic-tac-toe during a project are rare and worth more than gold. You’ll realize this even more keenly when your babies have flown your coop. You and Kim are rich, with wealth no one can measure. God bless you.
Thank you so much Jennifer. I realize more everyday how time flies and how I’m running out time to make memories. I’m trying my best to make the most of it.
@@HAXMAN You are both doing a good job. We laughed and laughed watching your kids paint the chicken run you were building. “Look at the joy on their faces!” If your children are happy about every parenting choice you do, ya might wanna rethink your approach. But they should respect you. Sometimes parents need to be strong enough to make the right choice, not the popular choice. Good job.
1:25 “I like to start out with a really thorough and detailed plan then totally scrap it and wing it” 😂😂😂😂
Great vids. The splinter guard can be reattached with carpet tape. When they get chewed up, you can pull them off and move them over about an eighth of an inch and it’s like new. The last time I bought one, I got the makita and it seems to stick better.
💥 I’ve been thinking of doing something similar to that, without the chickens however. Need to make my truck bed more functional. Sorry about the loss of your dad.
*Keep on tractoring!*
Thanks Jon
Wow, great video! It's real, funny, instructional, and somehow ended up a feel good video. I liked the father/daughter time and how you structured the whole thing. Editing was top friggen shelf sir. I'm looking forward to more... anything.
Thank you so much!
Awesome job! Came out better than the store boughts. I'm jealous of your growing Milwaukee tool collection. I want one of everything they make. Such nice tools.
Thank you! It’s probably my favorite thing I’ve ever built. It’s been super useful already.
Young man, I can say that we use the same principles.... exacting plans that get thrown away, much more time spent than thought, more trips to a store but in the end.... success! Well done! I hope the peanut butter and honey sandwich was awesome!! Great help you have!! Hope your holidays are incredible! Take care, be safe and God bless and hope to see much more in the coming year!!
Thank you so much Jim! Same to you!
Very nice,I no longer have the patience for these projects. A simple flag box took me 8 hours. When I made projects in the past I always used plans from someone or drew my own in sketch up.
PB and Honey, great taste, Cameron!😘🥰
Great personality and love that you get your kids involved. Aint got no time fer dat, love it.
Your videos are great. I just found this page but I wish they went into a little more details about design and how your actually doing it. Like more details but I love this page
2 things. Always love to see the daughters helping you. Second. Love that you love our Robertson Screws from Canada eh lol
New to the channel sorry to hear about your father passing away. Another great video very much liked it. My wife and I shall do this with our truck.
Thank you so much
Mate I think you gave me a solution for my project! How’s it working after all this time? Especially the large drawer
Great build! There's a family out of Canada, Gridlessness, who are overlanding in the states right now. They did a complete retro fit of their truck for the trip. They have drawers similar to yours as well as solar panels on the side of the truck and all sorts of other stuff. You might enjoy having a look at what they did.
I’ll check it out. I’ve watched their channel before but not recently. Thanks!
Great job persevering! Wonderful lesson for your little helpers.
I don't have any little helpers, (No matter what the Cat's and Dog's claim, they're useless.), or your years of cabinetry-building experience. I had to go with a set of used deck drawers. 😆
Using a framing square, transfer the centerline from the top to the bottom for accurate location transfers.
Great project 👍 and you are an amazing dad❣🙋♀️
Seems like you are doing a good job with your family and projects. Good job
Thank you for the idea sir. I have a bedslide i wanted to modify and add draws to it.
Brother I hear you! A 1 day project turing into a 5 day project... this is the story of my life. Or rather my wife...and where she puts my stuff when I need it. 🙂
Great build and idea... I guess I need to set asside 5 days! 😆
Nice work! Tip for you with cutting aluminum just use your chop saw its awesome!
Love it brother. Well made. So sorry to hear about your father. 🙏
Thanks Rich
What a fantastic family you Got Adam..
Hope Your all doing good

Nice job. Sorry your father had passed. I'm sure he is proud of you. Happy New Year.
Thank you
That was an AWESOME . BUILD...GREAT VIDEO HAXMAN 👍❤🙏😇
Thanks!
Pretty much any project ever, “I think it will only take about a day”. Three days later “Crap, what else is gonna go wrong”.
I like this i think 2 full size sliders makes it way more versatile and easier to build
Hey Hax - Great work. Lower the table saw blade when you are cutting that plywood bro. Greetings from my condo here in St. Pete Beach. Happy New Year. Best to Kim and the girls. Thumbs up.
Thanks Chuck!
Well done mate and Happy New Year to you & your family from down under.
Thanks Rodney. Happy New Year to you and yours!
Bro that part about your dad got me. Sorry about your loss dude.
Oh.
And subscribed. You’re funny like me.
Thank you
Great video and work mate.
Yes you don't know how much you could miss your father until there gone.
Well hell i was gonna do that to my old Dodge Raider I think im gonna re-evaluate my position in this. Nah ill just wing it.
Sweet Brown! Ain't nobody got time fo' dat! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Love her!
Your assistants are awesome
Do you have build plans anywhere? Whether free or for sale I’d seriously be interested. This is my favorite example of a diy slide I’ve seen so far.
No. I wish I did. Sorry
@@HAXMAN no problem thanks for the content
Perfect timing brother. I'll watch this tonight when I'm in bed as my birthday gift. I'll need some alone time after my six girls berate me with their "affection" today. 😅
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JACOB AND HAVE A HAPPY NEW YEAR....!!!!
Happy Birthday! 🎉🎂 Mine was just three days ago.
@@HAXMAN Thanks for the birthday gift video. Happy birthday to you as well. We're "here's your birthday and Christmas gift brothers" 🤜 lmao 🤣
@@novavroomvroom3435 thanks Nova, appreciate that! 🙏
@@HAXMAN also, that taco bell chime timing... 🤣💥🌮
Adam, you must be really fun to hang out at a BBQ. I always enjoy your humor. Happy New Year! 👍
Thanks Darren!
Liked for the awesome build, subbed for the wholesomeness. Looking forward to your other videos
Awesome job! Thank you.
Welcome back Haxman!
Your edits are the most interesting ..love your goofy comedy 😂😂much love bro
Awesome video Haxman! thank you.
Thank you!
How long are the slides and where did you find them? Fantastic build.
I just wanted to say that I love your profile pic, it's the best I've seen. 😵
Any chance of you sharing the plans to this build HAX? And would love to know what it cost you in the end!
This is perfect for what I was trying to get done my self
make a plan, do some mesures, scrap the plan and just wing it!..... totally me! LOL
Awesome project, But the video technique was super awesome. Nice video.
5:23 That’s a great line, cracked up laughing.
Your favourite bit is made in Canada and called a Robinson. There is a good documentary video about it on RUclips. It was invented to stop people from getting stabbed with a flat head screw driver.
I just saw your truck bed slide out video and was thinking of making something similar. But I liked the drawer slides you had on your project. Do you know where you got them? Thanks.
I've been wanting to do this in my bus.
What kind of carpet is that? Just checked out the Herculiner price tag 😮
Just outdoor carpet from the roll at Lowe's.
@@HAXMAN Thank you kindly, sir! My wife and I love your videos. You’re one of the best, brother. Thanks for all the knowledge share.
@@RyanWattersRyanWatters Thank you Ryan!
Man, I feel this guy's pain. Every project I do takes longer, cost more money and has Way More Damn Problems than it should!
But Sometimes with enough cursing, throwing tools and pissing off family it works out.
Can you add a link for the 500 lbs drawer slides you used?
Thank you for the best laugh today! Have you ever wanted geese? 🤣
good to see ya again 👍
Love the idea 💡!
As usual very well done.
Thanks so much!
lol... that's funny, right ther!!! enjoying the video - greetings from SoCal Hartley [garden grove, CA usa]
Loved the kazoo
Subscribed watching your dowel making video just because of your respect for your dad!
Thank you very much
I've got an old Avalanche. I've been thinking of building just one big slide. Pulling those bed cover panels off are a pain. I travel for work so I have to access the full bed constantly.
Love your videos man! Hope you had a great holiday seaosn and have a Happy New Year!
Thank you! You too!
Awesome video, I’m still laughing at that chicken 🎁 left everywhere. Where did you get those nut/washer you used in the side of the truck?
Thanks! I ordered them from Amazon.
Thank you!!
Great build!!!
You should by and use some C.A. glue to reattach the strip to the bottom of the track saw.
Sorry to hear about your dad passing, mine passed away 40 years ago this month.
Thank you Jim
Nice idea on the bed slides. Exactly what I am planning on building. Do you have source for the slider rails? Thanks for your great videos.
Look up Vevor heavy duty slides. If you click on the products link that pops up in the bottom left on the video it should show up. Thanks!
What drawer sliders are those? Curious about how much weight they can handle. I have a lot of tools... Been wanting to put them on a scale and see how much it really is...
Trials and tribulations! And, I like your humor.
